[Applause] [Music] [Music] so [Music] so [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] my name is david saslow i'm originally from new york i moved to dallas texas about two years ago so going into the build the whole thing kind of happened suddenly i mean i i was on the uh the waiting list for a little over a year before i was able to get my uh my build date and showing up at the airport and uh waiting for nakaisan to arrive it really didn't sink in until he was there working on the car he's such an amazing guy and even though he's a man of few words he [Music] shares the same passion for the cars as all the other owners do so he really puts his heart and soul into every car [Applause] [Music] i was thinking like chinese housing [Applause] [Music] hi guys my name is robert reed me and my wife own mako collision and auto paint here in mansfield texas where rwb dallas number one was built mako is a 45 year old brand in production painting you don't typically associate rwb would be in built in a production shop paint production stop but we're not a typical paint production shop as you can see we have some regular uh tight paint jobs going on right now the crews are working behind me we never stopped working throughout the rwb build lots of spectators came in but everybody was respectful makai was uh really cool to work with he understands he's a famous guy and he gets a lot of visibility a lot of people come around trying to get autographs but he stayed focused did what he needed to do so as we move around you'll see uh quite a few cool things that we do we work on all kinds of stuff even jet skis and bikes we're big car guys this is my gtr right here this is how we actually met david and i uh so ivy technologies built gtr we met a couple years ago became real good friends and uh one thing learned to another that's how we decided to do the build for the rwb here the experience was was uh phenomenal hard to describe i think leading up to it i underestimated just how cool this project would be i have always loved porsches but this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience i believe uh really enjoyed it nakaya was really cool guy is extremely talented um it's clear he's done hundreds of these things he knows exactly what to do when to do it how to do it it was great we really appreciate it hope you guys love the car we love doing it and rwb dallas number one [Music] [Music] oh [Music] oh [Music] uh [Music] [Applause] [Music] so [Applause] [Applause] [Music] so [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] uh [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] like a thai shrimp salad or uh pepper steak anything like that whatever you want a choice like this one right there maybe they're coming like everything like a combination yeah right yeah yeah so you want the appetizer combo yeah that's it okay [Music] empty [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] when we picked nakai-san up from the airport i was thinking that's 20 hours at least on a flight that's a long flight and i've done that flight and i was wondering how he was going to have the energy and focus to go build for 12 hours in a garage so i think i was just impressed with here he arrives we had some parts various parts that he brought with him and you know he was ready after a cup of coffee to go to the garage and start building and i didn't have expectations i had seen his a little of his work david had showed me you know what his work was and i had watched some of the other rwb build videos around the country so i had kind of seen him at least in film and seen his building so i think he was very much as i expected a craftsman kind of remarkable that he's created this business and this art it's art and business and then he's created this following in the world so you know he was what you think he is remarkable [Music] [Applause] oh [Music] seeing him cut into the fenders uh and everything else it's definitely a decision that not many people make but it felt right to me i really wanted it to turn out a certain way so why not make it the ultimate right car for me [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so [Music] so the in the front you want 265 yes okay will it drive fine on the 275's yes no problem okay maybe you don't mind keep it like that no problem just keep it like that and there won't be an issue okay all right it looks like uh you got bigger yeah you know yeah yeah so there are a lot of people involved in the build um everyone from the guys over at texas track works to the guys over at robert's paint shop robert rick and all the rest of his crew just came together in the end and they were doing stuff i didn't think was possible and they really pulled it off and things came together kind of at the end when i wasn't expecting them to the community was remarkable to me the number of people that were there just to watch the build and more than watch it wanted to be part of it and by the time we were coming down to the last pieces there were all sorts of little things that were going astray or were going wrong or had to be fixed or at last minute had to be jerry rigged or welded or a different part you know procured somewhere so the amount of help that david got from his community from the car community was amazing people didn't just come to watch and be part of it and take pictures and see nakasan work they wanted to help and i don't think we could have gotten it done without that community so the emblems on the sides of the car ted from rwb tampa actually gave those to me and surprised me with them i had no idea he was going to give me anything i can't thank them enough they really add a lot of personal touch to the car broken it's broken yeah and then instead of other license the upgrade the spoiler donated yeah yeah we already pulled that okay um we don't need it we don't need to pump right back like we need yeah that's a 15. you need a thunderbolt yeah we need seven point five possible yeah don't need it one two three four five six seven eight but maybe we don't need so we need a 7.5 after that you can change it like a 15 beta yeah i need to maybe 15 or like a 7.5 like yeah we have a 15. okay great the banner really symbolizes the uh the end of the build and the end of the uh experience for the most part um so i i was overfilled with joy but it it still hadn't sunk in for me yet i still don't actually know if it will sink in because i haven't even had it in my garage yet so have it on that is number one [Applause] can we drive the car tonight of course you can do it okay okay because there's the um the the get together tonight sure okay all right i've been tagged i've been tagged about the meat over 30 times and we told them that 30 cars would be showing up [Music] so [Music] oh [Music] well one of the things i learned from the whole build process which was wonderful is that car guys are a community and i had not really focused on that i thought you know guy in a car has got his car but it's beyond that they're a community they help each other out they're excited for each other in you know the projects that are going on and that sort of culture of that community was something i had not expected and which is fabulous they come together around the love of something creative which really that's what what the rwb build was and that was i think a big part of the experience for me and something i hadn't expected [Music] [Music] [Music] do you remember your uh first date you ever went on first date first date uh with a girl oh the dating razor girl yeah oh [Music] [Music] [Music] how many uh cars have you done oh no count maybe yeah yeah but maybe i always like in three years yeah um i made it maybe 60 70 cars in here i mean like every week the bone everywhere yeah i think like 200 300 400 i'm not sure do you have a uh a girlfriend or a wife oh yeah i have a wife yeah also yeah i have a lot of friends a girlfriend with a boyfriend or something all kind yeah i don't mind because maybe [Music] like give to me like for like energy you know yeah yeah i need it they inspire yes like friend like family yeah growing up when you were in school were you a good student when i student when you yeah when you're a student were you a good student oh yes maybe i think [Music] [Music] [Music] oh no maybe 17 18 not sure maybe do you have a favorite every every car every car plus do you remember your first race you ever did or foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] yeah yes not too much power but coming like a more like a fear so much power yeah easy for driving down the street i want this engine car that you uh wanna buy some time that you just haven't yet oh no no idea i don't wanna i don't wanna buy only porsche [Music] foreign [Music] at the crossroads i'm closer to the edge i'll change my superstitions [Music] i'll head on down the road down the road [Music] [Music] and there is nobody else that is [Music] [Applause] [Music] i'll change my superstitions and i head down my way [Music] [Music] oh [Music] i do have a new york plate on the car currently i haven't switched to texas plates because the car's been under construction for so long it really ended up this past year just going from shop to shop to shop i definitely am going to be taking it to get texas plates pretty much next week i definitely have to thank robert rick everybody at his shop i've got to thank justin and tarek for helping me out with the seats all of team misfits they came out to the build and i was really appreciative that they showed up and shared the same enthusiasm for the build as i had i also have to thank my mother for being so supportive of everything all the rest of my family julie kieran will special thanks to you guys uh for helping me sort out everything else just again thank you to everyone who helped on this bill [Music] you
