[Music] alright gentleman here has controlled his power converter I was out here last week looked at it and it was working perfectly and he called again and said it's it's just working intermittently so I'm gonna do a little bit checking I mean we're planning on switching it out today but I'm gonna do a little bit checking just so that I can show you how you know the procedures for checking your this is going to be a YF CO converter all the converters weather parallax or tell attacker whoever it is they all work the same they all about the same so if you're having troubles yours it should should be able to help you diagnose yours we're going to get started first thing you do and you want to want to work on a converter is isolate fighters take it out of the system we rotate them protect the positive lead off so it won't be be influencing go change we're about to fruit and wire out make a spark you take deposit post off make sure it doesn't touch something metal right there then we'll go inside actually just going to go ahead and test this pattern I'm a pastor this camper set up permanent gentleman lives in it full-time so you don't you don't need the battery the only time you need the batteries of power 50 the electrical power goes off in your community you know keep you lights and your free dress doesn't running but if this battery seems if you at all we're just going to leave it unhooked after we make the repairs today and all time if he wants to you can get a get a new battery later this would read positive black Snagit e-justice Bible its weak not not terrible a lot of times I think a bad battery will will overwork the convert cause issues this one does seem to be too bad still probably want to hook it hook it back up and ward on just just because it is weak so could be overworking the converter will get this cover off here so it can get to all the wiring this definitely need to get to need a power cut off or anything no surf spot just like this all right your multimeter out go to the ground we will make sure we've got AC power coming in first you see which wires coming out of the converter that's the one you can see we got our 23 volt AC going in and we switch our meter did DC go over here to the DC side and now we have nothing so this thing was working last week and now it's not working at all so we got AC power going into the converter the lower part of the converter were where the converting happens but we've got no DC power coming out then we have a bad converter just two screws hold this hold this converter together anymore there's two screws out [Music] you really should cut cuts power off that would take all the fun out of it let's cut that breaker off now we reach in here get this wire loose there's usually there's usually almost always something wire nut it to that it's actually kind of piggybacking on that saying breaker get our ground wire leg and a neutral make sure those don't touching hang that they shouldn't come down through that hole without let them touch it they will come over here yeah there's just a couple tabs you're not gonna be able to see them hold this hold this board in this is the power this is the wire coming out of the converter up here to them to the fuse block will get it loose and this should be the new ground it will pop its board out lose wires out don't worry about them touching anything over here because we all know if the battery a little bit ago look them down to the whole part of the converter slides right down it's easier just go ahead and get get the wire start up in the holes before you slide it thing just got more room work with just need to need to keep these to touch anything okay your 12-volt are started up in here order the slides back in there under a couple tabs there you go we'll hook our 12-volt stuff up first yeah I know who turn up don't that thing no not much to it you got to get these wires bent been around very short radius get them in there where they belong things can be a little bit tight kind of work with for ground and our positive see left so what I have to do with these wires Mike you're going sit back in here these block just goes under a couple tabs on top and just snaps in here we go snap make sure everything's still nice and tight sometimes when we move it stuff around it'll loosen up all right good there come back over here took our ground wire back up tie it up neutral wire knit mock-up our hot water burger still off so it's okay to reach in there just don't touch nothing tucking that up while we're in here since we got the two-layer hand we're just going long as you touch the handle you're okay is it gonna check to make sure everything else is snug in this in this panel box this stuff does it can it can work loose on you not likely but it can actually I mean you should really touch power off it I don't that take all about it and we didn't find anything loose hey you provide you with a wire nut put that piggyback wire runner my that's a glove take it yeah and as always when we do a wire nut I always tug on both wires make sure everything's secure and it is so now multimeters on the DC scale you need to use your ground wire here the ground wire over here it doesn't matter we're just little good and grab Bisson right now flip the breaker back on and converters putting out 13-7 of 13-7 which is perfect so we're going to put a little bit of load on it here just to test it but I think everything's going to be fine all right we have load tested it turned all the lights on and it's it went up like thirteen point six two or something so we're good we're going to button it up just going stick these two screws and hold that base hold that bottom part in I think the holes are actually yeah there's no nuts in there just drop the screw in how to keep sliding around that one seems like it's still gotten up all right all right well there you have it that's the replacing you're just the lower section of your wife CEO power converter and as always thanks for watching please subscribe to my channel and give me a thumbs up thumbs down comments constructive criticism is always wanted so just again thanks for watching we're going to go to the next one all right this is actually I've left that job I always think of so many great things to say soon as I pack up the camera and pull out you know but just to let you know what's going on yeah I was on that job last week this is Monday and the gentleman told me that you know that he was a little bit confused he was telling me that I was I thought I was going over work on generator I thought he was in a Class C motorhome it snows that that generator at all was a converter but while I was there it was functioning properly I said I asked him I says now I have one on the truck you know you does seem like you've been having trouble this one this one is working right now I say I have one on the truck do you want me to change it no no if that one's working instead it might just be a fluke yeah so we got to change and it is functioning properly and I'm happy with the repair and no I didn't charge him any trip charge or any labor to go back over there's no a very good customer been a good customer for 13 14 years so I took care of me and I'm happy with the repairs so now we're going to the next thank you
