RUBIK'S CUBE RACE VS BOGDAN! (WEEKLY VLOG #4)

to another weekly vlog at hacksmith industries we have a lot of cool stuff happening this week including a secret rubik's cube race between me and bogdan you're going to get to see tyler tess's homemade sword that we posted last week on the vlog channel plus i've got a really special behind-the-scenes look at how we do sponsorships for big clients so if you guys watched our main video on the hacksmith channel last week you know that we did a mortal kombat project that was actually sponsored by the movie which was super cool so i want to take this chance this opportunity to show you guys how that actually came to be so basically they approached me to ask if we could do some kind of video for mortal kombat and what i actually did was i prepared this little concept video about the project before we even did the project so take a look i absolutely loved playing mortal kombat as a kid my favorite character was scorpion mostly because of his ultimate move get over here and after i saw the trailer for the new mortal kombat movie i realized i could make that real all i need is some chain and the launcher mechanism from one of our past projects and i'd be able to do something like this get over here plus it would work on all kinds of things like cardboard boxes tvs a can of soda you name it i'm gonna make it come here flawless victory so yeah that is how we pitched our creative concept to the mortal kombat movie to be able to do that video so make sure you guys check out mortal kombat the movie it's actually really good and while this video isn't sponsored the ftc says we have to mention everything is sponsored when it even isn't sponsored but was sponsored on the other channel it's really confusing anyways make sure you check out mortal kombat in theaters on april ruby scoops on his desk and he's sitting there i'm like what are you doing he's like nothing nothing all right i don't want you uh pull these blankets off at the same time geez i haven't done a real pressure for reference i haven't done a rubik's cube since like six months ago i have not practiced [Applause] [Music] practicing a lot okay ready [Music] go [Music] are you doing the distributor technique before you start one pattern on one and then do the same pattern on the all of them and then remember they all get solved around the same time interesting interesting thought about that but i just screwed up ah okay stop brushing games isn't that fast i'm ru this is not going well right now not a good start not off to a good start [Music] oh we got a full full cube has one done [Music] both of them are very concentrated [Music] i'm doing really slow right now okay i need to really speed this up if i want to beat him he's weak i'm trampling i'm spaghetti okay i do not have one done i'm talking about you i have two done yeah but you're like you totally planned and prepped for this i didn't really it was the last minute where i'm like maybe i should do this thing where i do the other thing [Music] my fingers are trembling my fingies arms where you can use their heavy mom spaghetti i've had way too much coffee for this right now and james has three done look at our time right now [Applause] baby work out for me oh yes james is halfway done now the adrenaline feel good [ __ ] last time you had a race um skills yeah it was a long time ago baldwin is known for competing in high speed competitions around the world and not rubik's cubes and games but not as big as a reuben trooper's cube aficionado is daryl does daryl actually rubik's cube barrel made the cube he's the inventor oh what do we have done james finished the fifth one a bit faster than bogdan but it is very very close we're going slow what's going on with us james i can usually finish one of these in a minute and a half that has not been the case right now okay [Music] this one is not being nice to me this one um oh james the head yep yep okay i lost this one is pretty far ahead james is seven done before i'm done this one i think and i still have two more to go wait what the heck who did this oh no okay you tagged me i switched the stickers on some of your cubes that's what i thought for a second didn't do that what did i do all right [Music] oh james has finished seven the crowd is wild [Music] are you on your last one no maybe screw up screw up screw up no not me bring out the bonus cube but the bones bonus cube get the bonus queue back up [Music] [Applause] there's also only one bonus cube so i'm not too sure how bogen is supposed to win at this point tell you these bonus cubes they don't like spinnin [Music] stupid bonus cube [Music] [Applause] in order to give boston a chance to win the bonus frame i will give james 30 seconds [Music] the thing with rubik's cubes is it's all muscle memory and trying to do it with your [Applause] that way and this way what are you talking about look all right next top four by fours i haven't learned that one yet good game good game yeah that was a good game it's nice all right well to make up for that i challenge you to around a van last week we meet black katana and this week as promised we're going to be testing it out on all of this [Applause] so let's start with this demon right in front of me i don't like him [Music] squat style okay oh look how clean that is though uh water wheel i guess oh come on get wrecked clean in half again you good it is time to slice some zucchini demons [Music] great cucumber it's time for some demon slayer fruit ninja oh got it he's you can't see he just can't you can't see oh [Music] my gosh look at that that is so weird you cut it so weird oh my god oh i cut the tip off oh [ __ ] that's the correct way whoa ready for the big boy yes it's your turn oh god [Music] first try first try go to sleep [Music] oh my god you got the skinniest plants dude how are you so like together i'm a freaking samurai these vegetables stand no chance against me it's time to fight a real demon your time is up and your time's now [Music] oh she is fully dead yeah i'm sorry he lost his hat [Music] his face [Applause] this was a real success it worked way better than i thought i hope you guys enjoyed it as much as i did you guys have been asking for it and believe it or not we've been listening this is the way all right so you might not know this but every thumbnail takes a couple hours to make and this one in particular we've tried a few different angles and we think we found the one that we want but that means that someone needs to hang from this thing several times and that gets painful after a while because your grip starts to fail and you're hanging there waiting to get the perfect shot and you don't have uh you don't have too much time to get it so we think we got it this we're going to get it next time that means i only have to hang one more time what's the rig you have behind you it's easier to run the forklift than it is to use the the grappling winch good look my forearms are getting getting toasted all right let's do one away [Music] i like it i like it [Music] all right [Music] right all right [Music] so how long would you say it takes to from like photo to photoshop how long so the photo sometimes takes an hour or two yeah we're trying to find the perfect one before we start editing because like you can edit a photo as much as you want but then it starts looking fake so it's better to get like the best possible image first to start with and then a little bit of photoshop magic um that's yeah we often make like three or four of these as well and then deliberate over all right what kind of text what kind of what's the perfect angle what's perfect expression usually it's not as easy as just a mask you have to get the uh yeah i'm glad we have the mask because it means i don't have to be in the thumbnail because he designed a really uncomfortable grappling hook winch he gets to he gets to hang on fire yeah those look awesome yeah i think this will do the trick i might i might enlarge baby yoda in photoshop you should have used the teenage slanky one and look there's there's me and carbonite up in the corner yeah i got what i oh my need it's a real life chihuahua do the famous line i mean this is our other job so when picks it up we'll just have the other java already out there what is what is the safe way to pick it up by the center i just picked it up like that and just walk around like that but like yeah with that as well i just screwed it around like that okay [Music] what's your shooting rob the nose droid coming down
