hey guys this simply sustainable here and i just wanted to show you how i go about taking these green cuttings and keeping them alive so i'll take you out to the orchard cut one and pot it up all right so here is the fig that we're gonna be taking the cutting from it's a smith and we had a light light freeze about two or three days ago and you can see all the damage on the leaves but right here you can see that green chute i'll be cutting that chute right there off the main stock and i'll trim the leaves off of it and we'll put in some dirt so let me do that and then i'll be right back with you so here is the cutting i just took it's about three four inches long i'm just going to cut off the leaves and i don't want to cut off all of this leaf i'm just going to cut off most of it all right so that's my cutting some dirt here just some stuff from home depot nothing special i just want to get this down in it so this is not the best dirt it's really hard and really dry so just try to make it a little space there we go and this is dirt that i got from my mulch pile where the chickens chickens and ducks dig and fertilize constantly and then the mulch also keeps it really fertile i'm going to fill that up i don't use any rooting hormone or anything like that and i've put two little just two little holes not all the way at the bottom but maybe half an inch from the bottom so the water will sit and keep the rest of this moist and then i just want to soak it over soak it so that i know that everything is good and wet and moist [Music] so i just blocked off the holes to make sure it soaks in to the dirt all the way down and to see if i need to add any more dirt which it looks like i do and then when it's good and soaked in all i do is take a clear plastic cup i cut out side on the edge and i cover it up just like that and then i just leave it alone for about two to three weeks and after two to three weeks it should be fine for me to take that cup off and then i have something like that and this is probably a month in and it's doing fine it's probably making some roots [Music] and hopefully it should be a healthy cutting so that's how i do it questions comments go ahead and leave them below like and subscribe thanks a lot bye
