began we were roughly 15-ish about now still some stuff going on but that's not too far off um this is round number 10 neither of these gentlemen have a rebuy so someone's going on someone's going home let's introduce them right now from Toronto this gentleman holds U.S open titles in eight ball nine ball and one pocket along with his major accomplishment right here at the Derby City that I think we all know about but in 2019 he was recognized for his entire Stellar career with his induction into the BCA Hall of Fame sponsored by Lomax cues puyat Sports and the newly launched the padillion brand ladies and gentlemen he's the smallest man but he sure got the biggest heart the lion Alex Patty lion and his opponent from the Republic of the Philippines this gentleman is a former Manny Pacquiao champion and he has a runner-up finish in the world nine ball Championship sponsored by Predator town and off the rail let's welcome Roland Garcia good luck gentlemen I'm going to send it upstairs to the calm box to Mark Wilson and Double J it's all yours hello and welcome pool fans from around the globe it's Mark Wilson and the best pool analyst of today Jeremy Jones Jeremy we have a spectacular match up here yeah definitely and two guys that won't be fooled with each other but you could be fooled thinking of it Alex is a huge favorite in this match just because of what Alex does but Roland a lot like Roberto Gomez I would say he's he's picked up this game awfully fast in just a couple years and uh Alex has got his hands full that's for sure good for him he won the lag the break always a huge Advantage probably the biggest Advantage maybe out of all three of the disciplines I don't know the first break in the bank pool is pretty huge at times Alex who played a match on this table already today which is good on his side of things he's going to break to the right pocket and we saw in his match earlier against John Schmidt the corner ball kind of came out breaking to both sides a little bit so normally when that's the case you'll put pull the cue ball out towards the center just a little bit because when you do that you don't put as much pressure on the rack therefore the balls don't move as much you don't get as devastating a break but you also it's a pretty conservative break like right here yeah we can see nothing much gained Advantage Wise from the brake in this game in this case yeah if he gets the cue ball up another half a diamond though that one one ball is pretty difficult to deal with just a little kick and stick you don't want to kick it real hard but you know something firm enough you might Bank the one towards the 913 something like that with the kick and stick and get a little something open on your side now he's looking like it's going to come into the 11. 14 but my angle tells me it's going to go a little higher just with a little bit of left oh he did okay and he brought it the cue ball back up a little so banking into the bottom you can see very dangerous because something can leak out oh the seven could have been a bank had it dribbled out there another few inches yeah I'll tell you what though he gambled a little bit and he got the three and the eight on his side which is going to slow down Alex's advantage from breaking the balls through being out there that really makes it tough to deal with it's hard for him to do anything real aggressive I agree this now if you liked a little foul kicking the three out of play a little bit taking a fouls not terrible he's going to give up a bank here on the three maybe I don't think he meant to catch the three ball there I think he was trying to throw the the seven a little higher above the three and just slide so quickly you can say no advantage to that brake shot from Alex all right he'll just hold here no reason to go forward with the cue ball you could give up a bank and you could get a kiss if you go forward as well all right hit that beautifully hmm inside the pocket not good enough to fall now here he probably wants to come back on the stack up on the four and two would be a good place he was trying to move it hmm he was trying to remove it now he looks at his tip as if it was a slight miscue like he's the ball slid off the tip a little bit yeah I mean we couldn't hear it from here and the shot certainly went quite a bit awry of what he thought it was going to do which is suggest that maybe there was a miscue involved yeah you know normally the shot he was shooting coming across the top of the three with a little right English to go into the stack and let the three come up normally you would hit that a little harder so that and you know you're not worried about the cue ball because the Stack's going to stop it you want to make sure the three exit exits a little higher right so yeah so quite possibly definitely a miscue there rolling surveying the stack to see if there's anything in there that would I think the four is what he's interested in the thing is sometimes with the stack there you can't get to the ball you need to be able to make some of these combos look at this he's going to get on the six oh I thought he was gonna get oh wow he may have still the way he shot that casually though makes me think he's still very uh much entertaining some type of combination out of the stack okay he's gonna shoot so what's he got to do here he's got to cut the nine like towards the 11 and let the nine kind of come off the 11 into the 12 is that how he's looking to shoot it oh no that's looking much different five I don't think he can get off the 11. oh he thought the one would go okay wow what a shot things really turned his way now on this rack yeah I think he thought two balls were going to go towards his hole the one and the four and they kind of did really big dilemma here for Peggy lion yeah you can't go up table because of the six ball he's on top of so no real kick behind the one he was will willingly give up the ball if we could just get the cue ball on the other side of the table they're down by Garcia's pocket but there's just no way to get it there yeah I wonder how well he can cue the ball because a lot of times you'll learn to maybe or try to shoot a ball into the wand and Run for Cover I kind of like scramble the balls a little bit but there's nowhere to go with up table with the seven eight the way it is the nine of course is really nice for Rolling two out in the middle of the table if you can see the four it's got to be something off the floor I would think well if he can get between there wow is he trying to spin into the one I think he's trying to rub off the 14 and you just get to the high side here just to get through the turn here oh he's going off the floor that way he thought he's just taking the foul right well yeah yeah that was good oh from where he was at that's probably as good as it was ever going to be and remember when you have your opponent taking a foul and it looked like it was delicate for him very concerned doing it tells you he didn't like where he was at right so maybe go back to that vicinity with the cue ball again right it's not easy to get it back up to 8-6 but you know overhead real quick yeah maybe we can't but anyway it looks like you can just take the foul back and go two cushions in the back of these two balls here oh that's excellent actually uh if he's comfortable with a little kill spin left spin coming off the bottom rail you said side beside enough to get in there yeah if you can that that helps to preserve that I don't think you you'd like to get it up there behind the six again but I just don't see any way to get it there is good yeah I like that just as much something like this he's going to roll up to five doing that's okay too yeah cut off the bottom part of the ball huge part of the game that's maybe better he didn't have to take a foul and he virtually got the same well yeah it's not going to be easy because you got that cue ball pinned to the rail to get it on the two and then get in behind the one you're having a light have gotten it a little higher but now Alex can kick underneath the 11 back to where he was at now Alex will be on two fouls so like to stay out of this if possible he may shoot something scrambling onto the one here another object ball of some sort the problem is again when you shoot that type of shot you really want to run for cover and there's really nowhere to go that's not firm enough I don't think the one's going to get cut in by the right-hander nice idea get a ball over in front of your pocket he's looking at outside English so he doesn't want to cut it naturally and maybe rub the four I guess I didn't realize it was so spinable yeah Alex is approaching it as if it's no problem nice touch nice speed oh that was rolling I'm sorry yeah yeah first glance yeah right or rolling to me he's a he's a guy I love his stroke I think he has all the shots he's not a guy that plays a certain technique so much it kind of just plays what the shot calls for a little more that's playing rotation and uh very tough especially once he starts to get a little confidence playing this game thank you of course like so many uh the greatest the goat his biggest hero Efren Reyes hello funny here especially if the tens a little tight going by you don't want to just roll towards the the five ball here not knowing what the position play is yeah I see what you're saying yeah this is it's thin enough that it makes manipulating the cue ball very much now the seven ball gets missable and you got your you also got in your mind you're gonna bump into balls maybe like the five ball over there well that's what I mean when you let it start roaming you don't play a definite that's when things can happen and I thought the 10 went I thought he was going to draw across and just play the 10 you bump the two a little bit the fours there and now he's in just about a spot as if Alex put him there really looking at kicking the 11 when you're close to it like that you can but you can also lose with this shot this you figure they hit it pretty solid and you figure the 11 will tie up some of the bank Lanes but if the 11 gets up for a bank he's trying to shoot this where the cue ball comes up a little bit yeah oh nice effort oh boy again I thought he scored that ball the way it came across there but well the 12's bank will Mark and I think Alex is going to end up twisting Us in yeah I think there's enough room okay yeah here on the live layout looks better than it does on the overhead again it's the type of shot that I think you need to shoot it this way meaning with a little speed and a little spin we saw this table right by that pocket if you're rolling it wanna just come up just a little bit which when you're in this spot anyways you're selling out a lot so you're not going to roll it now he's going to the other side so don't really plan on him making it he's playing more of a trap with the cue ball oh no he played it firm oh and you hit it yeah well it rattles the pocket that's how good he hit it hmm I kind of went off in his hand though it was that wasn't quite ready to watch it was a little quicker than I'm used to seeing yeah well once he started queuing High I thought he was rolling it and playing more of the cue ball over on the rail I thought if he went for it Mark it'd be more of like a middle right English just stunning your bowl just kind of holding anyway because you're selling out um if you do Miss a little awkward queuing here yeah don't roll it fish initially look like you want to roll the ball oh he did roll it playing for two well then you probably aren't gonna pass up on the 14 Bank you might go up table for for the 10. we'll see yeah that's what he's gonna do he's going to go between the eight and ten just like this hmm beautiful and that's what I talked about his stroke it's uh my opinion not the normal Filipino pump a very good back arm very simple and a lot of the motion carries a great touch and possesses a lot of power when zero Garcia in front of pagaland I love both these guys touch around the house when they hit cut balls and stuff their ball speed is good get real soft real controlled you never see anything any overheating of anything yeah in golf they say the quiet hands kind of like you know that's kind of the same thing here and it's funny in the last match that we did with Alex it was Alex and John Schmidt and I'd commented that I thought if the match went longer I thought it favored John a little bit not favored him but gave him a better chance of winning I thought his moving would get in and get a little more comfortable quite the opposite here now Alex would like to see a little longer match yeah we're rolling you know he can beat you quick beauty of the game is the match-ups we've got plenty more great matchups coming tonight as uh Ken Schumann said that he thought there was somewhere around 16 players left and I heard from one player after the last round that only Tony shohan had his buyback left no I'm not sure if we can confirm that or not but not many left with a Buy-Back if only one now the cue ball normally when you're only a diamond up that's something that's usually going to hurt you as the breaker but sometimes they lay funny to wear anything can you know no matter where the cue ball lays if they lay right can be a tough break to get out of yeah this looks like it's going to be tough to get out of well the good thing for Alex he needs to survey what's the 12 13 11 look like what's the stack look like overall and I think he just noticed that the 12's dead close yeah so uh terrible yeah doing something with a little risk up the table I don't think is an option he'd love to push through on the five right here and Bank the five and go underneath the eight with the cue ball but the angle I don't think is really cooperating elevation scramble Six into the eight very smart shot I don't know if it's going to work out overall but looks like he might have gave up the 15 ball if he did the five banks next don't get involved with shape here too much like if if you have to throw the ball you know what I mean a little bit let's just go and make it and you can Bank the five after yeah he's wanting you know here it is a delicate shot he's wanting to develop some if the 15 year old says it's hard to tell normally they can throw that in a little bit but what I'm saying with the two balls there and the throw now you can't get the separation on the 12 and 6 to get the eight next is easy you see what I'm saying absolutely Mark what Mark's saying is to be able to throw it in sometimes you have to hit it softly to have the throw work right if you need a little extra on it and so if he can see the five now I mean if he's got question about the the 15 the 5's okay no it's great because you get the ball back over by your pocket you can move the cue ball down table and you know you have to make a decision am I going for the bank room I just want to move it over there and make sure I preserve the cue ball right there just above the second diamond on the side rail Maybe yeah I'd go and try to make it or get it across and go all the way up myself okay well he did so yeah very nice speed now this five ball is not easy to deal with no you maybe just have to concede it but boy it's hurting keep you know rolling off of something that he can do you can't just leave the cue ball there you can just twist the 10 ball back and drag the cue ball across if you try to go anywhere else down the 14 becomes a problem it's easy to get to the other side of the stack yeah you got to come to the middle then uh you know go towards the middle of the end rail not that far though because the two-railer on the 14 Maybe so I kind of like the kiss angle on the 10 what is that about the first diamond right there by the five on the end rail that's kind of like the kiss on the long rail 10. that's kind of the great place for the 14 as well so now I'll tell you with the 6 8 the way it is the five's too close to the hole you can't do it I was going to say if the five's up a little bit though you know you could go real first and cross it over swinging the cue ball all the way around to the end of the end rail kind of leaving them straight on the 10 because the six eight and all that's real ugly so really not much you know worth shooting at the 10 from the end rail right now that's more of a situation if you don't have much of anything else if you can just concede the ball here and come over that's definitely the shot the problem is that's a little touchy as well you know you could leave a long roller on the eight to where the guy could uh oh he almost didn't even make that ball okay that side of the Stack's real ugly for Alex so unless I'm very convinced on what I'm doing here I don't want to open balls on his side so I just probably lag the 10 down you're not going to really make it but you know just lag it down go the end rail there's a lot of value and not opening balls on your opponent's side you know he sees something he likes and the feeling I get is he's going to move the two quite a bit to where it's not really on Alex's side that much oh no spun the ball so when you see the difference now of course not really covered much up but opening the two on Alex's side it's gonna you know make things you know to where not worry for for Rolling but not as much not as many easy decisions because he opened some balls on Alex's side going into the eight with the cue ball oh yeah I see that now that'd be great oh better make it see right there at the end that pocket seems to want to go up just a little bit we're on this nice bank shot has the 11 go mark hello Spanx it's I don't know if he can draw up above it with low left or not it's real close and the bank is funny it's a little off angle looks like he has to kind of snug it up a little bit which means you know you have to pop it with some power yeah and if he tries to cross this which he did earlier with a shot the key to this is make sure you get through the ball with that stroke if you let up a little bit the cue ball doesn't go through the 15 as much and you can carry a kiss right about the middle of the table he's heading right too so he should be fine you see that right there how close they came when you let up on it a little bit cue ball didn't go through as much yeah and you can get that kiss a little bit now it looks like he may be able to do something with the nine here yeah he can go right past not not really hitting the 12 or 6 I think and even if he does it may be just a little bit better watch out for Rolling I think he anticipated catching a little of the 12 or six and slowing the cue ball down because this 15 is cuttable for for rolling he can spin this ball in now the thing is really to get shape he's got to spin it kind of lightly the 810 is not really much of a shot or go longer true four rails right yeah one of the other kind of hit it oh he was able to control it even yeah well you know the Filipinos are very confident with the outside English like that I just thought that was thinner than what I mean I didn't think holding it that easily he made it look easy though and if you notice him he's really got that type of stroke that you really desire gets a lot out of the cue ball taking the moment to see if he wants to try to bump that Aid or just by position for the 10. I like what he's looking here because the two goes the one goes he can slide over off the 10 if he gets underneath what people don't realize about a good stroke and this is the one of the biggest foolers is everything works better you know your throw is more powerful your draw is more powerful of course but the throw side of things you know the draw side people see very obviously it's like oh yeah he's got a much more powerful drawstroke but when The Strokes good at as a whole you do everything better you know the right English throws better like like Roland's starter here on the 15. you look at Players like you session and you see him effortlessly draw the ball and he doesn't swing very hard so he know he's hitting the ball pure yeah and it's a little bit of a fooler Oh my he was tighter on that than we thought yeah he didn't quit getting all the way over position wise and he tried to force something that wasn't there now okay your line comes to the table with a pretty nice opportunity looks like he's going to start off with a combination here Jeremy yeah I agree The Nine's a little funny to come outward if he felt good about it and has the 14 there yeah he could like nip draw onto the one right here you know what I'm saying oh I think he's gonna fall or just lightly bump the one yeah just kind of like just nip draw into that yeah just like that and keeping the two ball close at hand so he's got the 14 and the two to work to the other side of the stack now and that could have turned out better the three seven got clogged the one got covered up a little bit mm-hmm uh he still has the four the four was there all the time I'm trying to see what he's going to do he may draw up underneath the one after shooting the 14 here he's not gonna like this not saying it's terrible but the four doesn't lead you to a whole lot unless you get absolutely perfect to draw off the three or the seven which isn't bad actually right Mark no if he draws off the three he glances off to a seven and the three maybe opens the 12-6 huge shot here oh he's gonna get the angle probably would have wanted a hair more but not much that's pretty good this is one of those where you're maneuvering the cue ball is so easy to try to help it and over cut this far ball you really gotta lock down hit the heart of the pocket with this four no matter what the outcome is with Cue Ball good job he didn't overheat it I'm seeing things I thought he had to force that a little bit more all right a little short side three cushions around for the 10 needs the cue ball right about the second Diamond coming up from that corner pocket behind the tin and it's kind of odd he could come one rail and get on the back of the eight which isn't terrible because it leads you to the one and it's a little easier than falling on the 10. better better shot show the trajectory easier to control the speed and it leads you to something else here you can always get positioned for the bank if you don't like where you land here I think it got really good you know it's a little worrisome going forward but with a good stroke I think you can go then round up for a cut on the one and if he comes into the 12 up off that end rail yeah well he's playing for three yeah I don't know if that's offered so much but he's elevated a little so he's kind of stunning two rails for the cut all right like that hello to Elbow man what a good hit it was yeah but he had the manufacture an angle there that wasn't there hit the heart of the pocket everything was peachy but I don't even know if he can make the one no I'm right on it unless uh of course my eyes I'm some yeah 40 feet away but slow down there bug we may or may not he might have to I don't know may I say a little bit he's looking it's close yeah maybe he can get through it with a little right no he's got it okay I see now he's queuing right in the center just couldn't get anything else I see yeah did look like that at first glance but then the way he queued up told me that he could go straight into it okay I don't know if the 76 is any kind of playable but as safe as shot might be doing something with the 10. mm-hmm he's looking to see what he can do moving some balls but not this the place you want to be is he coming back up on them looks like he's stopped it to the pin it to the seven that I thought for a moment but then the six is coming across so I don't know I was gonna say he's trying to shave the six as well but this is who this is giving Roland a chance here but he did great with the cue ball yeah and that's all you can do he knew he was moving at least one up maybe one across just so happened the six didn't get as far across as he wanted banking the 10. come across no I think you're right Mark more makeable the 10. I don't think the six really plays I think the 10 is definitely the shot good call on the rail so it's a little natural going towards that opposite corner with the cue ball got a little heavy but I'll tell you it's funny how no matter how you hit the ball it seems to get in a funny place like the 10th straight you can't yeah you know so he's gonna have to move off to seven probably that's the value of those balls mid table and get the cue ball on the far end of the table right sometimes we try to get them right next to our pocket but that really isn't the most valuable when there's clutter down there you really put the opponent in a tough spot well the thing is when it's not so near the hole there's no kicking behind it anymore there's not a lot of things that are easy to do from the end rail you know those are just natural hits one rail behind it two rails behind it coming across it all that stuff's just natural so that's why you see the guys do it from man rail so often but when the balls are in the middle of the table man that just came out perfect there covering up to six a little bit all right not a lot of angle on this 12 ball so it's like this if you're going to try and play a lighter speed like pocket speed and get the cue ball safe you probably never make the 12 you over cut it a little bit so a lot of guys will go ahead and shoot through this with a lot of speed trying to really bury this and bring the cue ball up behind the six seven like that you see how he played it pretty aggressive and steel only got the cue ball over you know somewhat so yeah Alex had the shot if if the ball doesn't fall you can see he had the six yeah and Roland recognizing that you know hey here's a pretty good chance against this guy right here he doesn't give up a lot of them so he went pretty aggressive there on the bank and what a shot Nick Varner one of the greatest of all time and ringside yeah right next to Phil Windham okay you could ice this more and take the bank or he could try to come across like that and get positioned so that's going to can probably get conceited maybe I don't know it's not a good thing it's not a good look if you can see balls no no I know players do it sometimes it is better for the audience let them shoot and plus Alex is stretched out there no problem so back on serve each guy went on her opponent's break to start off with the first two games I was watching Chris Reinhold quite a bit I watched him in this nine ball match got to feel good for you a kid that you had at Lindenwood yeah it was starting to come into his own a little more he's got the funniest sweat about him he's got a little sarcasm a little a little condescension but then he's funny too yeah was it he's the like the epitome of moderation with all that right he throws it in there just right yeah oh he loves it he likes to have fun yeah okay another thing that's real hard to do it seems like on the Slicker you know TV table we'll call it is that cue ball really getting laid down on the rail after the break it seems to want to spin a little bit and just kind of get away from the rail more but a pretty effective break overall thank you again the 1315 those are real worries well how about the top of the stack as he's just shooting the six and laying them on top yep and got a Bonus side which is good kind of made it difficult to shave off the eight um you can go the rail pretty easily but you're not going to go back behind anything right so I like moving the six somehow he's going to play off the five and put them up in the corner oh he touched the 11. did 11 touch the two I didn't see he definitely moved the 11 a little piece so I mean if it's attached to the two it's got to be a foul right but I don't know if it is you definitely can't move two balls yeah you know one thing I know that matches a lot of times they're on refereed but we should be gentlemanly enough to just play the right roles and it's all ball fouls period yeah and um I said that of the last few years just because you know we played all ball fouls at a few events that we didn't normally play before without referees on every table never saw an argument Three-Point Rule never saw an argument you know what I mean so I think it's definitely and position now with with the players to to be able to do those things it begins to look amateurish you know and the other thing once you get used to it and that's the way it is you get it like if a golfer touches the putt with his Club preparing it to you know a stroke so yeah it's very cut and dry the rule you know yeah exactly now there's no subjectivity yeah ball moves it doesn't really matter oh did I hit it with my cue did I hit it before to do this do I do that yeah it's just cleaning all the way around it's clarified it's just that we have to get reacclimated to playing it that way but that is the proper sport okay the 14 if he uses that for the cue ball that looks kind of double kiss-ish for the 13. so sometimes when you're in a bad spot you got to look to maybe give the guy a look at that 13 don't try to hide so much because that's difficult just make sure it's sitting on a kiss so maybe go off the three and just kind of Cannon lightly into the 14. like there and now that he can't oh I don't know can he see the 15 that would be a problem but I think the 13 is definitely a kiss so I think a very good shot there from Roland and the beautiful thing about the decision was it's just rolling your ball not really hard to execute yeah I think I think everything is just in that little iffy Zone and then you know these Banks we know that that pocket doesn't want to accept it because it wants to get just a little bit High rolling across the table he's doing something with the one ball here oh he's gonna just go below the 13 I see yeah is he moving balls though that's what it looked like he was moving balls and uh just like other other ones one pocket you know they say don't ever go it was shot but you still got to gamble at times that's just how it is yeah you might not want to give up a shot but sometimes you don't have a choice yeah well we did a match the other day where the guys played safe really well but didn't really move the balls around as much and the game doesn't progress right so yeah I mean if you're just going to write bury the cue ball you're really kind of like we used to play guys on the road give them their fouls don't count well they play safe like summer gun because they could just roll the cue ball anywhere right but they never really put any heat on you because they never moved any balls by their hole Yeah so all right looks like the cue ball might have to touch the 13 unless he's just coming up for the three man he got a heck of a stroke to buy that ball and what a confident stroke if he goes by that seventh if he doesn't land heavy on that seven there there's big issues instead he hit it perfect and Alex you can tell on his face he doesn't like the what's transpiring here on his break in game three normally one of the best at protecting his break not sure what he's planning on here oh he's doubling up on the six okay nice idea trying to protect a couple of balls while opening up some of that side rail that was good we're all thinking about maybe just lightly gliding the three ball in well what happens here is if he makes a three what Alex knows is he can't really do a whole lot more from there and Alex doesn't mind that one ball and it kind of takes care of an issue for Alex's you know something near Roland's hole now he looks like he's putting more speed than I thought he was well first trying to open up a bank got a bank Lane yeah this is he's got a little bit of room to cut it but if he can't cut it much banking it it's a type of shot hard to make with high right a lot easier with middle right but that doesn't really get you positioned can he use a little bit of draw and just to go maybe gamble yeah that's a gamble that gets him on another bank but but if you miss yeah yeah you probably give up the game yeah you probably lose the game with this do you want to bet the game on a twisting Bank withdrawal yeah I probably myself I just stay right there trying to make the bank with middle right and then just move from there now it looks like he's playing with a little angle like he's trying to do a little something see him cut it extremely yeah so he was noticing how the table's playing for sure he wouldn't normally cut it that far downward yeah now Alex if he can hide him to where he can't see the five he's a little queuing funny I was going to say just draw up the rail maybe half a diamond and I'll let him see the five keep it simple and make him play off of those balls now if he could over cut it and then get up the side rail that would be okay as well oh he's coming back into the stack which is okay but you know Roland's gonna chip the 11 and run the cue ball you know so like we talked about you're kind of directing him on what to do a little bit if you leave him on the rail over there he's kind of got to shoot into some balls and make a good decision doing so oh he feathered that nicely a lot of times guys will lose that 11 up the table a little bit on that shot hey I guess he's going into the stack or is he just falling up to the side rail back into the pile it's the man I don't know how they love and sitting totally but if he gets up up behind the 13 just rolling the 11 in I don't think there's a shot on the table there for Alex mm-hmm yeah I don't think he really even has to be like perfect with it at all behind the 13. it looks like it lays nice to just roll forward slow back swing it's on its way I don't know if he hit it good enough he definitely got the cube up again he may have cut off a little piece of the 11 I'm not sure if he did Alex is uh he's got his hands full here doesn't look too upset about it so that doesn't mean he can see the 11. q and downward though so does that mean he's driving this into the ramp yeah I think he's trying to take it out of there oh he's kicking okay that makes more sense why downward stroke good hit got some Pace got it on his side and all those types of shots you're happy when it's over with yeah yeah exactly in clatter off 13 Going things line up and all of a sudden it's a bank for your opponent after you hit it pretty good I'm not sure what Roland was thinking there he's looking like he wants to go aggressive I was going to say that well I don't know what he's doing here see two rail in the four we're trying two real the four that's dicey with the side pocket there why he does the really possess a nice touch though now what Alex is so good at is looking at what's free or kind of free so he's thinking can I shoot the seven five going to the 11 with the cue ball and have him doubled up on all those balls with the four there and maybe the 14. I thought he's just gonna roll the 14. he might be doing that too he might be doing that as well and use the Clutter and the difficulty of a combination versus the reward if he Pockets this yeah he might be off to the races and maybe you leave the guy in awkward combination yeah it's all about cueing what you leave Roland I think oh yeah I kind of thought he might use the 14 because just a straight combination you're not going to leave Roland he'll shoot that sucker right on in on you but tripled up now you know that's a little different story oh yeah and how Roland has it and thank goodness for that because well I'd feel terrible I know where do you put them okay he wants to stitch him up here oh he's looking at something that may be dead maybe or let's just say he could move the 14 over and put him behind the five and feel pretty good about it he can move 14 into balls too um I wouldn't even worry about getting a rail when I stick him on the five I don't want to bunt this but you know you're going into some balls so you might not get a rail with an object ball maybe but that's okay [Music] yeah I'm not sure if he's using the extension or not but the shot clock is moving and I don't I don't know about the open cue ball there mark yeah it was a very very surprised he could do a lot of things there that was he could have just trickle the cue ball behind the seven yeah Alex will Bank the 11 across putting him behind the two and four I assume anyways pretty standard shot from this position yeah I would like to go through one more shot there if I could have hemmed that cue ball somehow and just see what transpires after 14 doesn't go I think I got to go up table with the cue ball here he's not going to get the best of it messing around on the bottom end here with that two and four he's gonna Alex is gonna continue to put him there so I like trying to get up table with the balls doubled up right now while I can maybe a slow kick if the 14 doesn't go I don't care about him shooting the 11. I really don't nothing's bankable after that so I kick one row at the 13 maybe lightly yeah or behind the 13 that is definitely the shot look at this guy's gonna get a rail toe great try but that's what I mean as far as that takes a little while to understand that's the place to go and Roland you know he picks up on these things quickly yeah it's one thing too to have the knowledge but there's quite another executed and I'm really not sure how he's going to address the 2-4 there's some fouls he could take that are real touchy from nine feet away but he could kick to the end rail get them both out of there and it might be the shot really uh maybe they'll come out just kick firm on the four ish that'll knock the two across the four will go up table on Alex's side this to me is super dangerous there's a real possibility on the kick that he sells out a shot on the 11 Ball but at least he has to make something right oh look at this double kissed it yeah well I thought that was way too dangerous though yeah for him take the roll out on the on the foul if he feels like he needs to go there with the cue ball I like your shot in hindsight much better now yeah at least the guy's got to make the 11 and look at the stack that's the point he really can't go anywhere after the 11th right you give up a ball from a bad spot right now you're going to give up a whole lot more than the ball yeah you would figure anyways well I mean in general oh yeah yeah right yes immediately you're going to give up more in the ball but look at him and one thing about Roland that reminds me of some players from years ago that I was around is for a small guy look at the bridge in the backhand he has really big hands for a small guy makes a really nice Bridge but I mean just a real solid and uh I don't yeah I don't know if it's a coincidence or not but every player from years ago I was around that a small guy with the big hands they sure seem to play really well tough shot here yeah he sees a big Finish Line if he can make it though coming up into the Bulls it's going to roll up okay Elaine gets a chance that you know just what you said I always comment that when booster money is playing it looks like a puppy that's got big feet that's going to grow up to be a huge dog yeah big hands as well right it looks like an octopus out there yeah it's kind of crazy really I always Marvel at that when I look because it doesn't really it's not something I'm looking for but it just catches my eye like my goodness those hands do not fit that body yeah some hands look like they're literally just hanging on the arms and that's what it is with boosting it's like he's keeping his arms straight those heavy hands all right a little stun here he's got to get between the the seven nine I don't think the seven goes oh Beauty talk about filler you know maybe being one of the best ever at the light stun yeah that are really awesome out at this guy right here he's been awesome at it for a long time well if he comes up short he'll be disappointed yeah and he did definitely did may have to bring the two into play now he wanted to get out there for the 10 or the eight yeah it's gonna fall for the bank on the two you want to become a great one pocket player or pool player oh wow he went income three so he's feeling pretty good you got to learn to shut it down sometimes you know when you don't get where you want yeah and don't press it you know 10 up for the seven I think the two balls with the one and the 12 go oh oh so so one of them has to go you would figure right sorry yeah I think the wand just one row up gives them three options on three balls if he's too full he can draw off the twelve whichever ball goes they may both play and what Mark talks about is that economy of travel with the cue ball which is something you should always consider on improving your game but he's like the epitome of it when it comes to um running balls to one hole he just looks at the pattern much different than most of us much better it appears he has an angle a stun angle up to the nine I don't or the six rather than I don't think the nine passes the seven he's no I mean the oh go into it okay no he didn't he wouldn't come around that's surprising that was a pretty heavy angle when I saw him going forward there I thought it was for the bank no hugely disappointed that he has to make a back cut like this after working so nicely through the rack yeah he's ran five but he did owe one so now only four to two and something's coming back on the spot he needs to be mindful of that there's clutter down here and maybe it was too flat to get up for the seventh I thought I thought that he could but no it definitely definitely was plenty of angle to get to the seven that's why I thought going forward with inside to the one there was too much angle to do so that's why I thought he was getting on the bank maybe but yeah Jerry price in the in the house I think he got it today right yeah I saw him in between their first match yeah and he's taken so much time not because just because the stretch but because this is touchy believe it or not I mean he's got a tight six ball from up the table seven nine that's kind of doubled up so he doesn't want to do something to where Roberto is he trying to move both these balls and swing on the cue ball a little danger here oh nice little danger though that stray draw what you don't understand it's just how powerful it is it just gets a lot on the ball yeah so now to spot two after owing one when the rent run started and owing won when the Run ended Mark hmm now if the two goes which I think it does yes Roland can really set up on the five nicely to go in there and split that one and ten a little bit maybe and produce more just because he can set up so perfect on the two with ball in hand it kind of just stop his ball and have the right angle to go in those balls and the ones to help her for that too yeah and it produces a bank meaning you got more options when you go into the 110 if you don't like exactly what you get on the 10 and or 11 you can Bank the one thank you yeah just it looks like to me kind of stopping on the two is almost perfect to have the angle to go forward off the five and the thing is you don't have to catch them just perfect you can catch the outside of the one a little bit maybe produce a shot it would be shocking if he gets these five right here right two five one eleven and ten didn't require some good pool but he's the man for the job it's a little angle yeah and he's got an ideal it's not a stun angle either it's a follow angle which is more of what you want on this shot and a little thin a little wrong side yeah hard enough well if you shoot there then where does he go well that's the thing if he feels like he's supposed to shoot at it to make it to try and win the game I probably go up into the edge of the one or ten and try and get shape myself and now if you wanted to lag it he could certainly put top inside and go into the rail behind the seven kind of hard to miss that Mark really I see yeah it's kind of figured into the back of it a little so you can't go behind the seven and go past the nine yeah that looks pretty impossible so he can hit it thicker now that's not going to get it because the table won't allow that oh he he hit it too thin I don't think he's I think he's okay as far as the one I don't think Alex will play something off the 10 he may but this is one Alex can go gonna get flat on and just chop the 11 and go up and down with the cue ball he's trying to find him a dead one there off the 10 mark yeah looks like it requires TOP English and add a little bit of a lighter side of the things to really go all that way off the ten maybe I don't know and this is a dangerous shot because it's very very easy to misjudge well he's just cutting he's just cutting he's not playing off the tent okay my bad maybe I might be just cutting I think both require a high ball kind of though the the thing is the 10 going to clear the 11 is that what he's thinking there's no way no if he cuts it it's not it's gonna rub it no he didn't rub it oh he's trying to get him behind look at that no worse for wear though a little lucky camera angle fooled us too because he got in behind that 11 easily I know he caught the one a hair heavy to the hole but he definitely had to cut for sure all right you got a rail first and leave them on the double kiss you can go ball first as well just kind of whatever you're more comfortable with he's going to draw it up there I like where the 11's at I like where the tens at probably just roam the six down the table near my pocket uh he's got to take advantage of his Advantage here if you move the 11. I don't know this may leave a free shot with the seven or six there you can cross the ten over but if you leave them on that side he may roll the bank on the seven and be able to go down with the cue ball so I like him just like we talked about don't try to make it just bring it down there a little below the 10 maybe it just suppose he shot the six and ended up where it's at now right now and then the cue Ball's down here now he's got a mess to stop Garcia from getting some kind of a bank yeah I think this is dangerous don't get me wrong he's going to try and get the Ten of Carl's but I hit it fat and that's twice he's caught a kiss on a shot I don't I think the other one was in the match with John but she's kind of somewhere you don't imagine Alex catching that kiss all right not a whole lot a lot here probably just moves the 11 up on his side coming over on that side rail below the seven this is where when you don't have a whole lot you don't want to move that ball but really anything else I think is a little dangerous I'm decided as to how he wants to go after these that's not that's not very productive and there's nothing black and white here for sure and the 11's a worry so you're trying to come on the six with a cue ball just trying to get something on his side but what happens is you leave some free long railers maybe Three Brothers yeah and maybe I don't know if the 13's in the way the nine certainly Banks so just the cue ball out in space just trying to stay away from that that's that's not always uh it's not going to be your friend very often it's hit getting a lot out of that throw right there rolling queuing up like he wants to measure the seven that I gave up on that and that's just a light girl wants to cover up for the 11. I think he did that I'm not sure that's why he tried to play a real real light speed there Alex can really take his time here with nothing on roll inside kind of pick out the shot he likes a little more I'll tell you that seven is dangerous still if he comes up in this corner depending on where the nine gets that's great speed there now you got to come across the 11 with high right going to the bottom of the nine a little bit banking the 11 up on your side that's that's where he needs a ball right now so he needs an up table on his side a little bit The Nine's the obvious ball to look at right Mark because it's near your opponent's pocket but are you afraid if you kick behind that uh nine ball two cushions you're gonna sell out of the Cross corner on the 11th is that well too much of an issue no and if he shoots the nine and stops is fine right there's nothing wrong because he's leaving the double kiss but my what my point is is that 11 getting on your side up table now he doesn't have to worry about you know when he moves the ball from Alex's pocket trying to defend the 11 as well right right yeah just the 11's just kind of causing them issues you know now if he had other balls on his side it'd be different but he doesn't he did a good job getting him on the double kiss angle for the 11 though no very very good on that he was very aware but Alex likes where the balls are up table and it's a crucial game and one to one so he may Elevate here which way is he shooting here is he kicking I don't know what he's doing side pocket Blues there and that's why I say when all the balls are on your side you can really take your time on what you want to do yeah you don't have to take much risk at all it's got a little UPS to the booth here all right nothing wrong with that good let's see how he shoots this a lot of guys would draw the ball they don't want to drag it or roll it from this kind of distance back to back scratches and a definite D cell there on the downswing it's like that's why I caught it thin he's putting low right when you desail a little bit you don't deflect the ball like you imagine because you don't swing through right so good point it's always they say when you give up on the stroke on the outside English it's always an overcut and the inside English it always comes into a fat hit I hear him talk about it on snooker as well it's pretty amazing they don't stand up all that much occasionally they do right so sliding out for the five here I don't think he's gonna draw back to get on that was that 12 ball let's glad out here and he hit the pocket a little off so he's going to be a hair off on both of these balls hmm well just up for the seven try to pick up an angle yeah he can get on the 12 as well he can float between the seven and the 12 with a high right and now oh he's really struggling all of a sudden played real well in his last match but hmm I'm characteristic misses here you know it's one thing to miss a spot shot but it's quite another little scratch it's usually when you're drawing you end up if you're maybe the fat gets to draw the bite Alex is laughing so I'll say you may cut this five here I don't think the seven Banks he could go four rails off the five to where he doesn't have to really kind of kill it or anything like that so yeah that was always hard to me I don't understand that I would if I cut the five I definitely am just letting the cue ball run he was inside checking it up or something yeah thin cut now Alex back at the table yeah it was an open shot I mean you just don't figure that so you rolling his face not too too happy with the last two efforts well that's how hard it is here's the best players in the world to kind of kicking it around well I think that's part of the Derby as well and uh that's that's part of the grind is you're gonna have times where as great as you're playing and the great as you've been playing it just kind of uh can have a little bit of fatigue or a little bit of you know loss of your brain for a moment or whatever you want to call it I think for Rolling right there it was more about him wanting to make up for a poorly struck Spot Shot yeah you know yeah yeah that definitely factors into some of your decision making room wishes to take a time out here two to one is our score all right we're back everybody kind of a messy game three and that was probably the right time to take a time out here to make sure we finish strongly two to one peg of lion Garcia breaking or the ball cue ball not getting up very high and I think there's a window at the 12 Mark of some sort off the bottom off the top of it either way it's very workable whether the bank it at the 10 or back at the pile you're banking it at the pile it's like a straight draw just kind of cut it Go the rail and kind of come up towards the six with the cue ball a little bit now a lot of times if he's making it into the stack Alex will play very controlled here not putting a ton of speed like he wants to wiggle something open by his hole you know but not open the entire pack well that's a good view there you can see it looks like he can get through and get to the high side so we can two rail to the 12 at the 10 and bring the cue ball into the pile right over here yeah 15. yeah if you can get the high side the camera will fool you occasionally but no he couldn't yeah but you see the cue ball one rail up right fantastic yeah all right and you got to learn how to hit the cue ball on those shots because where it lays um makes a huge difference on how you cue the ball what to position and whatnot but sliding straight up that side rail you got to have that shot in Your Arsenal playing one pocket the cue ball really didn't want to go where it's at now either you really had to make it yeah it was even semi-natural yeah manipulate the whole thing it looks so when you see him do it looks like yeah that's where the ball goes then you go out and try it from that angle and find out it won't go there at all yeah well understanding how to hit it makes your tip position a little better to make it a hair more natural but that's what the great players do like you said they make things look like uh it was automatic now look at this combo he's inspecting two things happen here very hard to cut it enough from back behind it even using the third Bowl Seven's got to hit the end rail or probably maybe doesn't even get to the hole if he puts it online yeah right right because it's got to be such a thin hit and this is sheer desperation if he plays this that means that you're really hemmed in yeah there are a few other options but nothing's real good and nothing secure that's the other part you know the kick shot isn't Totally Secure I would have to kick at this ball myself just because you don't have to get behind the tent necessarily with the one helping you anything we're gonna get to the team now and it's amazing how light that is how the light kickshot has happened a bit this week well I mean I mean and that's a common thing whenever this there's a scratch possibility off the ball you know they want to just Coast it in there they're so worried about hitting the ball and scratching off of it which is totally understandable by the way all right Alex just wants to get the Run started and I say that because that is a great way to think about things when you're running balls comes for me with straight pool messing with Jimmy Karis a little bit yeah when I first started playing streetball I got invited to a huge tournament and the World Tournament there and I started to try and play it and I couldn't run a Harley 30. well that's a good run well Elite level yeah I was ranked like second on the nine ball at the time so I mean I could shoot pretty good you know this was the only reason I got invited is because my nine ball ranking and uh so what he really put in me more than anything over working a couple months is just get the Run started don't try to break balls out don't try to do any of that get to that first shot and then just go off your instincts You're Gonna Play pick the balls off with how it makes sense and that's a huge uh way of thinking for all games in pool in my opinion you know shoot the one get to the two first don't don't get ahead of yourself thinking about the four five six seven eight and all that you know well I've never known you to be a straight pool player no no we don't play it in the South you know so right and then you're younger so you missed out yeah in Houston uh we had a saying which I'll tell you later off air when Once when straight pull was brought up around Houston all right oh I don't I think he thought he could get around the eight and he didn't and now it may be a little kiss-ish as far as a bank shot and the other problem is there's no future with it meaning you can't get any more balls forever Gorce won our banks Division and was definitely the front runner for the all-around but he lost it like fairly early for him seventh round something like that that's how tough the competition is you know this this this master of the table is not going to be a foreground conclusion as it's been in several of the preceding years yeah and it's uh Evan Londa who's still grinding in the one pocket has a loss he finished second in the bank and he you know he's a super threat in the one pocket as well so you may see him as a little bit in the driver's seat you know as far as the all-around the thing is the points like the money go way up at the end so you know probably Fetter may be still ahead right now even though londa's still climbing in the one pocket the problem with this bank is he can beat the kiss with top inside but he's got to stroke it and get the inside to really take and that may be going by the five and selling out so he's going to stay off this eight well he's threatening here going between the 15-5 back onto the pile they wanted to hide that four ball and that's why you see a little Shake of the head there I don't know if the Eight's doable but he definitely wanted to get into the stack and hide the four now that was a little touchy going between the 15-5 but if you do like the path remember you can always run into the pow a little bit with the ball the cue ball and it will hold you right that way you're not short a lot of times yeah yeah all right he's going for the mate he's holding the cue ball it's going to come out about as bad as it can rolling offers a shot and a Breakout not a very good breakout though the 14 he can't draw another 14. that's the only place yeah yeah and I can't just go wild into him no no no you can't you're gonna have to it's still gonna be a play you have to play a shot to get the 13 opened up it looks like it's got to be more of a drawstroke I would think oh yeah because you hit the 14 the five should help you a little bit holding the cue ball yeah the 15 is going to open oh we got a real tight pocket all of a sudden yeah coming up a little bit it's kind of about three-fourths of the pocket something like that but when you you know had a few struggles yeah right looks like a BB that pocket does tell me about it I try to make my life that way thank you you see that it got right on the right side yeah what a shot Alex Peg line playing for two and trying to survive and get that third third banner up in the Raptors for the one pocket division we're gonna lose another great player Roland Garcia okay rolls that in elevated well this has been another great addition the world-class pool thank you for joining us that's our time for this time so long for just a while all right [Music] [Laughter]
