hey everyone i'm here with my friend jonathan and we're at lake port state park uh near port huron and we're just heading to the beach it's kind of a cool bridge here so i thought i'd show it to you parking lots across the road from the water and then there's this footbridge that goes over the lake which is over that way jonathan has the first find of the day a piece of charlevoix stone see the little end parts there uh favor sighties is the name of that fossil nice one and a cool rock with the quartz on one end and whatever that brown rock is on the other and there's another fossil i just picked up some nice rocks here this is a cool rack we don't know what it is um it's got little eyes on it that seems to be harder than the rock that's around it because the rockets around it's sort of worn down um anyway that's cool they almost look like eggs don't they yeah they look like little aggies i don't know what they are but i'd say that's probably like amygdaloidal i think that's the one where you have air bubbles that get filled in later by something else yeah cool rock yeah pretty cool pretty rock i just picked up of appreciated i guess pretty piece of quartz there my fingers are numb it was uh i don't know if it was quite 30 degrees when we got here oh that's a nice petoskey that's a really nice one cool one face at least let's feel my polish on yeah i like that okay i just picked this up and i'm not at all sure what it is um looks kind of corally or maybe spongy maybe a stromatoporoid i don't really know but it's cool just spotted a little pasty stone right there a little guy a little dirty in the back i don't think that one's a keeper though i'll leave that there for somebody else a little horn coral i just found my first little pudding stone not exactly awesome but it's a pudding stone it's fun to find beautiful day today cold but nice and clear and sunny nice to get outside interesting looking rock here not sure what kind of rock that is but i like it what you got there it's a puzzle rock i don't know what to say about it it's kind of purple kind of cool i like the color a pretty one that's a keeper nice little petoskey stone if you're new here that's our state stone it's a 350 360 million year old coral called hexagon area but we call it petoskey stone a pretty color green that's cool i don't know if that's feldspar oh it's got layers kind of layers to it you said you find something out of your house yeah when it's dry that looks like glitter it's so sparkly you can't tell right now yeah i think that's feldspar because sometimes feldspar with it's the cleavage on it it has these cleavage planes that kind of glint in the light could be i think that's what it is i don't know what the black stuff is in between but cool looking rock pretty little horn coral in there nothing on the back but i really like that this sort of looks like banded iron it's not really banded but i think it's jasper and hematite in there pretty cool really nice rocks on this beach so that's got a stripe and a little red circle piece of unikite i think find a pink petoskey it looks like it at least that parts i don't know if it's staining on the outside or not i don't know what makes them pink but i think petoskeys are a thing that's pretty cool yeah i like that i've never found one quite that pink i found pink ones but they're usually that's a kind of crummy petoskey stone and they tend to be that way the ones i find so it's a bad luck i guess but it's pink yeah it's pink put it in the bucket i know some of you guys like your rocks with circles on them or stripes kind of looks like goganda tillite down there that's a neat one nice piece of goganda tillite here it's a very very old rock it's like i think 2.2 billion years old with a bee that's pretty too little stripe of epidote in there it is cold today pretty little stream coming out here okay i think i found a purpler rock than jonathan's purple rock you beat me but jonathan found a nicely striked one something stripes yeah that's really cool stripy rock that's what i called technical term i just found a keeper it's a pudding stone looks pretty good on this side jonathan said he only has one pudding stone slab that i brought him last time we were together so he gets all the pudding stones today in the bucket it goes it's not something here that looks interesting it is interesting i don't know if that's a nice probably but it's got kind of i don't know if you can see the sparkles there and that white part almost looks translucent cool rock just found a nice piece of shirt a really nice piece of shirt it's got some good color there oops just dropped it but that's a keeper that's a cool one what do you think it is i think it might be sandstone i'm not sure yeah probably a good guess i'm not sure either neat pattern on it though i like that check out that quartzite i guess i think that's what it is orange specs but a couple nice stripes on it that's going in the tumbler oh what's that one the pink caught my eye yeah it looks like my pink one i just thought nice lots of stripy rocks oh that's a cool rock that's neat i love the contrast jonathan just handed me this piece of granite and said how cool it looks but that it doesn't tumble well but i might take that one home and try to make a cab out of it now it doesn't tumble well but i really haven't tried cabbing it so that might be the one [Applause] [Music] that's a really cool rock flip it over that's that's neat yeah i love that one just grabbed a piece of beach glass looks like it might be mountain dew glass it's my favorite nice pudding stone i like that what'd you find some banded shirt that's gonna tumble great yeah these always crumble i love that stuff that's a really good one sure is nice find well if you want to see some of the stuff i make out of pudding stones at the task stones click on one of the videos here and thanks for coming along
