ROADKILL’s CrewCab Chevelle Will it Live Again ?

hey guys what's going on lucky here so um over in the other shop where I store a couple of cars and I also use it sort of as the dirty shop everybody's got to have one everybody's gonna have that one shop where there's just tons of dust and dirt and uh you know I'd say body shot but do all kinds of stuff in here but uh here is that I call it the surf truck but this belongs to a guy named yo and he was literally gonna junk it and I said well don't junk it we can just put it together make it a driver and then I got my buddy Mason doing the paint and body and actually have me and uh uh John McGann we put that thing together got it running and driving and then I restored the interior painted the interior myself put it all together it's exceptionally nice in there I'm gonna pull it out because I have to pull the wagon down to The Big Unit and then uh get the crew cab Chevelle out because the owner of it Alex Scola and uh and Wiley Coyote Wiley Stevens they're going to come over and do a transmission swap in that thing with a new Gear star 4l80 I believe Okay so we are getting ready to pull this thing over the other unit and here's the trick put it back in reverse all right yeah [Music] sometimes a little more okay nevermind just leave it in reverse yeah all right hold please help me out of here muscles [Music] far [Music] drive down there you have any drives it's in drive now go kind of wide and just fly in take it with you barely see through the window all right [Music] [Music] [Music] they're not double stacked okay here we go the party's about to start I don't know if you guys are familiar with my friend Alex Scola hey what are you on Instagram so Alex what's your name yeah um this you may remember I'm sure you remember Alex like off camera behind the camera and doing little cameos and let me see your hands so yeah those are like grab stuff for me on Hot Rod Garage he's a director and you like do everything over there don't you cool and then you also do all the stuff over at roadkill garage yeah so I do roadkill roadkill garage Highway garage Andrew Masters anyway uh he ended up um how did you get this dude so oh yeah hold on this is the crew cab Chevelle this is a car that I pounded on at the racetrack with Freiburger and dolsage all right I'm lying well they cheated though they you know they cheated right yeah were you there that day no oh man they were pushing cones like it was nobody's business oh yeah and it was crazy yeah it was yeah they cheated like I remember when we made the couple of passes we had uh like supposedly identical tracks next to each other we both launched at the same time and then do this little zigzag and then spin it around and come back up to the zigzag go through the start Finish Line and I could not understand how this thing with my old Parts yeah David called me up and goes hey lucky have you got uh your old suspension parts I'm like yeah well can I buy them from you I'm all sure so now they're in my head I'm like they're kicking my ass with my own old junk just not cool at all so either way after a couple of pass I go hey I'm gonna go down your side and David's like oh okay and when I got to the start Finish Line I could see at the start line I could see they had pushed all the cones and they just had it straight away so I was doing all this tournament trying not to hit a cone and these guys are just going straight and just wiggling the wheel a little bit so yeah they were they uh yeah they they got me yeah and it was funny because dosage coined the phrase man I've mind surfed this thing so many times Lucky's gonna overpower the dragon yeah but either way it was a good time and they paid me and we got to have a good time but either way this is the car the actual crew cab Chevelle it's got all kinds of cool stuff now it's LS swapped yeah so I bought it it was company owned David uh basically got tired of after they blew up the 455 Buick right right drag strip and uh part of the deal actually when I bought it uh with David was that I would pull the drivetrain out and give it back to them right right so I bought it as a roller and um so I hit a Shaggy up in Alaska he sent me down a 6-2 long block uh I um assembled that together with some poly stuff with uh intake that I got from you yeah remember yeah and um Wiley Stevens help me out a ton with this thing and um him and I put the engine in with a 4l80 behind it that was fresh rebuilt right and especially washed and painted yeah yeah uh we rewired the thing from the back threw an exhaust in it um I've done very minimal interior work and yeah that's where it's at cool so I remember uh you had some ECU issues some tuning issues you got all that resolved over there Balto Speedo a Balto performance yeah so yeah Tom and Tom Tom [Music] I remember seeing you on the interstate on the way out there yeah we're doing a little spirited driving yeah you know doing a little alleged racing no no well that's when we were in Mexico that one time yeah yeah yeah yeah we took the we took the long way to Arizona yeah so pulled up on a Firebird I think it was like a 67 or 68 Firebird it was a cool car I had Troy Stevens right you know line up allegedly mash the gas yeah yeah allegedly was this a roll start roll start oh okay so we're probably going like 56. right and we're gonna have a pro tip here in a second go ahead yeah so Pro tip don't do what I did which is leave it in drive right um and match the gas not deer shabby but pulled on him a couple minutes later I'm like huh my RPMs are high I doesn't think I don't think it's locking up I may have lost fourth year and I thought maybe at first it was like a shifter linkage problem because I had a linkage alignment issue that I fixed right before the road trip right so we jack it up check the linkage everything's good and then put it down try to go put in reverse and you got it you got two neutrals in a drive two neutrals nice and the r is not for race anymore yeah so uh we knew something was wrong fluid wasn't low um you know so I never pulled it apart because we were able to hostilate I'm still able to kind of put it around in the second gear right whatever it still has and um actually Mason Bromberg saved the day one of the real kill guys he was trailering his he's the toe Master he's like yeah he's the toe Master resident Juke guy right he was coming out with his flat Fender Jeep and rented this giant flatbed trailer pulling up behind his Range Rover right and uh I think it was his idea he ended we ended up pulling his Jeep off and loading it on Sideways oh and then putting my Chevelle on behind his Jeep on the trailer and pulled it all the way there nice so you loaded up like it was a side by side or something yeah and I assist you turn into a golf cart and then you had the race car yeah all right and uh made it all the way there we were on Highway garage set driving up and then you know you're like yeah you gotta just throw a Gear start we've got to do it man you gotta do it yeah so he'd been storing his vehicle over one of my other units here for a while um you live in an apartment or something right so you've got parking is limited and and you're in La somewhere right yeah yeah and they frown on like oh is that an abandoned vehicle well no I just drive it on weekends oh no yeah yeah so we put it up in storage over here over there where we're doing body work you maybe see it in the background so it's got a protective coating over it it's going to prevent it from rusting keep it dry at all times yeah uh so then we reached out to gearstar in reference to the drama of too many neutrals and they said uh say no more you're gonna make a video it's handled it's on the way and as you can tell this has been here for a minute too yeah yeah but um so yeah so now we got a new gearstar foil 80 stage three I think should say it actually no sometimes they just write my name right yeah it doesn't say what it is so we're gonna get it cracked open yeah I'm sure it's a 4l80 what was in there before for a lady right yeah yeah four ladies probably gonna be a stage three with a Yanks Billet converter and that's going to solve a lot of issues why are you supposed to be here at 10 o'clock it is 10 30 Wiley yeah he's bringing his satellite and he said he had a little bit of a little great place oh okay driving by Braille in the rain with no brake lights all right [Music] what's up dude all right man what's up yeah man made it right [Music] wow how convenient I just happen to have a banner from gearstar right there anybody's interested in knowing anything about their product there is their www which does anybody even do www anymore check them out on social media it's everything you need to know lots of good stuff in here dude these are box lower control arms with new bushings all sway away is that the name of the company no energy I'll energy stuff uh bilsteins which I don't think I gave them to bilsteins nah I think he bought those and um my new exhaust on the trailer it's okay that's so tuning it you just tuned it is what you did look at that yeah stuff fits now I swapped nice trans cooler is that oh you put the hemp sensor right there huh that's a good idea yeah so that uh I got attention through the area that's actually triggering my fans oh it's clever and it's always wet you don't gotta worry about being low that is an issue there's a little another Pro tip for you sometimes you'll put the temp sensor to activate your fans in the upper portion of your radiator temp sensors don't work unless they actually have fluid on them so if you put in the top of your manifold or the top of your radiator and it's a dry spot not only will it not work but it won't turn your fans on make it even hot or evaporate more next thing you know you have blown head gaskets so I uh so I had a problem with the transmission and I should have known better by a couple clues um so I had a leak coming out of the the plug out of the housing right right and I'm like huh that's weird I pulled the pan off trying to find the leak and the guy had RTV the the pan okay with like a crab gasket yeah that was your there was your should have been a light bulb moment right there that was the first clue and then I realized that um the plug housing was for the internal harness was rtv'd in and he didn't even fully see the eclipse in so I ended up having to pull that out put in a new internal harness get it fully seated and then I got a proper gasket got rid of all the RTV [ __ ] yeah and then it didn't work then it broke and then it broke like 700 miles later I mean it was great for 700 good miles though right yeah perfect so you know the motor's good right it's all tuned yeah all tuned all right all right let's uh um well we see that everything's here we've shared enough now we actually have to get dirty and once again by we I mean you [Music] okay first roadblock is the exhaust I had put on uh buy a shop up in Bakersfield kind of like in a rush and the way they did it kind of makes it impossible to take out it's got a tool fix that it's called Sawzall so I'm gonna get right into it [Music] [Music] well that's one way to do it probably should have been strapped it up or something [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] thank you [Music] [Music] ah that's how you do it [Music] right here whoa just came right out yeah all right open that valve slowly you just say no it starts to fall I'm Letting Go What's this called professionalism it's weird and now uh potentially roll this over to a workspace and just set it on a bench okay and then uh load up that other one all right well uh transmission is removed what's going on you got the bonus package installation Hardware I didn't get that yes I should do where double X sorry buddy this must be for me you get a new transport a lot of stuff people a lot of things people Overlook when they do a trans swap if the transmission broke there's a bunch of metal shavings and all kinds of crap inside your cooling system flush it not always the best thing if you're putting a thousands thousands of dollars worth of transmission in there just go ahead and replace the cooler and the lines yeah they Dino these Transmissions you get a video did you get the video they actually show a running video of it on showing each gear and the pressure in each gear and the shift points and everything but then they send you enough fluid to top it off but it's already got fluid in it okay yeah so that's cool yeah so I've seen lucky I've seen David Finnegan Tony Angelo Fred Dave I've seen all you guys put these Gear star transmissions in uh project vehicles I haven't in my personal Silverado I drive on the street every day yeah they're they're awesome I mean it's quality guys putting these things together and like you said they're Dyno testing these Transmissions before they're even sent out and if you have a problem you call them up you're talking a real person so yeah that's like a big yeah yeah I actually called a couple times asking about sharepoints and stuff and the guy was speaking transmission which I speak it but not fluently so then I went over to Heroes transmission said hey Jimmy my transmission guy here in California call him and then they called me back and got everything sorted out but yeah they definitely they lift Transmissions this isn't just a gig for them that's this is their life yeah these are solid guys and these are solid Transmissions I'm hyped I'm really sick all right well we've got our Gear star transmission swirly went ahead and put on the uh ship lever and trans amount for the uh yeah [Music] [Applause] and Yuri massage firewall where's your old transmission let's just see where we're sitting because nobody ever gets it right the first time here yeah that's for sure rubbing right here oh yeah that's the spot right there oh and then yeah right there and then maybe right there yeah there for sure this is a very intricate and precision job precision oh custom in Florida tonight over there yeah I think we're okay then back here and maybe it was hitting right there yeah no I think you're good yeah [Music] thank you foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] thank you [Music] you think you're done I mean we're pretty close um it's bolted up torque converter is bolted up linkage is rehooked up lines are on we change the trans cooler already flushed out the lines cleaned everything up that's all new so that's all good so really just going to hang the exhaust down and weld it up for you we're out of time for the day but it's pretty straightforward gig anybody who's LS swap 66 Chevelle you know you have to massage the floor a little bit yeah we cleaned up a couple of those spots and uh it's Modelo clock right now you hear that yeah got to go pretty soon sounds like it but uh so that should be really about it right yeah so I'll button that stuff up and then uh you know you got to drive this thing mellow for a few hundred miles a few hundred miles and then uh you need to post on your Instagram which is Alex Cola crazy that's your name yeah and what about uh the other guy Wiley Stevens Wiley Stevens Ray Stevens what your name too full name man that's not very creative mobile tech lucky Lucky's garage and you guys got all these uh so post up the burnouts that are forthcoming burnouts are forthcoming after a few hundred miles we'll break it yep and um Wiley and I have been talking about also maybe trying to get some stuff up
