welcome to a new video let's take a look at some new malicious compliance stories the first story is called parking the wrong spot this occurred during a recent trip back from Washington to California after graduating from college I had to move a number of large pieces of furniture back to California so my friend and I decided we would rent a box truck to get all of our furniture back the drive from Seattle is about 16 hours and my friend and me had decided to take the drive in one go and stop for lunch in Oregon about an hour away from the border we pull into the parking lot and immediately noticed that it's completely full but they have two designated oversized parking spots facing a wall so we take the truck over to the corner of the lot as we pull in I see another car a regular-sized car that decides to park in the middle of a trailer spot not only that but a second normal sized car has already taken the second spot so we were stuck but then we saw a sign in front of the spots it says trucks and trailer parking only so what do I do I pulled the trailer horizontal into the parking spot just behind the lines and effectively blocked both cars even parked went inside and had myself a nice leisurely lunch as soon as we walked out I could see the scene I had caused and it was glorious as I walk up I can see one full-fledged Karen who was visibly fuming and her husband as well as another couple standing sheepishly off to the side as I walk up to the truck karen strikes she yelled what the hell is your problem what'd you park your big truck here and blocked us in we've been waiting 20 minutes sorry not my fault I just parked in the parking spot that was meant for me do you think you can do whatever you want there are laws that say you cannot block another car in while trying to hold back my laughter I pointed to the sign well I guess we both have problems following the rules all the while the other couple in the back didn't say a word with that I hopped in my truck and continued on my way the next story is called please stand up this took place over a decade ago when I was 17 I equal parts of dumbass stoner and inexperienced driver it started with me getting a traffic ticket for causing an accident I was waiting at a light to turn left and get on to a highway on-ramp the truck in front of me turned left and being the idiot that I was i followed suit assuming that the road was it turned out the truck was playing at risky and almost cut someone off so by the time I pulled out I was about to get hit hard luckily the truck coming at me swerved off the road and took out a telephone pole which brought the Y's crashing down on traffic all around us my car was unscathed but the other truck was damaged no one was hurt but the passenger jumped out of the car and started screaming at me turns out it was a kid I'd played baseball with and the driver of the vehicle was his dad one of my former coaches his dad ran up and just gave me a hug and told me to calm down because he could tell I was losing my mind and thinking I almost hurt someone it sucked but in the end the only things that got damaged were the vehicles in my driving record I got a ticket and had a court date not even a week later I was driving to work and made a left off my street to get on the main road right before I did a police car drove past meat we made eye contact and he started his lights to follow me into town the reason he did so was that he was a complete jerk and I was an obvious stoner he had it out for me and my larger group of friends and tried to get us any chance he could he was actually moved out of this jurisdiction about a year later for major offenses he followed me into town and eventually pulled me over he asked to search my car I said no he told me he was going to bring a dog I said go ahead he called from a dog unit and after an hour and an unsuccessful dog inspection there was nothing he could do he was mad so since he was unable to get me on a drug charge he called some crap and gave me a ticket for weaving in traffic and told me I could get it dismissed by taking a driver improvement course life goes on and I take the driver improvement course and get the ticket dismissed but then my court date for the accident I caused comes up and I head to court while in the courtroom with all the other traffic offenders the judge says for everyone who is here for their first offense and has taken a driver improvement course to please stand up he's trying to expedite things and get us all out quick with dismissed charges so he can move malicious compliance enters the picture so I stand up and eventually alphabetical order comes to me the judge asked why are you standing up I said if this was your first offense stand up based on what I see here you have two offenses in that month alone yes your honor it was my first offense I mean chronological it happened before the other ticket the judge was visibly agitated that is not how this works and the driver improvement class you took was for your other offense you have more than one offense here sorry Your Honor I was just doing what you said I've never been to court before so I wasn't sure technically that was my first offense and I have taken the driver improvement course so I thought that sounded like my situation the judge gave me an exasperated look and started going through his paperwork after a minute or two he looked up and said I'm only going to let you get away with this this one time because technically everything you said is true but do not ever try to pull something like this again and please try to stay out of my courtroom in the future so I got to avoid getting any points on my license and walked out paying only court fees with my charges dismissed the third story is called we close at 5:30 this happened yesterday I work for a staffing agency that runs its office from 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 apparently we need to stay open and present in the office all those hours unless we are at lunch according to the bosses our clients contract states they need to be able to contact us between those hours or it's a breach of contract they all call personally anyway so that's a whole other story basically we always leave 10 to 15 minutes early but make sure we can be contacted yesterday our out-of-touch CEO calls for a random staffing meeting via Skype at 4:30 no regard for our actual day or appointments I have to mention this happens all the time and over half the time he doesn't even remember he set him up and we don't have a meeting sometimes it's three weeks before we actually do we say like always that we will be there well what do you know 4:45 strolls around and no answer and no meeting he and his second-in-command his family member aren't even in the corporate office it's almost 5:00 already and we want to leave on time I have a whole life outside of this office and so do my co-workers now 5:20 rolls around and I decide enough is enough and I start to leave I'm in my car waiting purposely to see if they'll call at 5:25 I get a call from the second-in-command that goes like this hey where are you we have a meeting I'm right outside the office getting ready to leave quite how can you leave it's 5:25 and we don't close until 5:30 you know that I need you to hop on skype with your team now with all due respect I was ready for the time you guys setup I have other responsibilities in my life I don't care we close at 5:30 so we close at 5:30 and you want to have a full staff meeting five minutes beforehand yes I will make sure to respect the office hours and leave at 5:30 yes thank you I shouldn't have to repeat this but we close at 5:30 so I jump into the meeting and see the CEO in gym attire I was already angry but his clear lack of consideration for his employees life work balance pushed me over I was only thinking of being maliciously compliant but now I couldn't help myself I seized the opportunity literally 531 rolls by and I stand up and start grabbing my things what are you doing we just got started I understand sir but the manager and I were just talking and he made it very clear that I must stay in the office until the business hours end he stated very clearly to me that we closed at 5:30 I have to respect the office policies and close-up manager is this true the manager got super red in the face now well I did remind him of the office hours I cut in before anyone else has a chance to speak yes and I am sincerely apologetic for preparing to leave at 5:25 so I would like to make sure I follow the rules we can meet again at 7:30 a.m. tomorrow well you didn't mention we would need more time that was the last thing I heard from that meeting no one called or complained to me and business is proceeding as usual I just want to make clear I get texts and calls starting at 3:30 until 10:00 every day I am a salaried employee so I understand working extra some days I do not stand for inconsiderate managers who can't manage their own time the next story is called costumer argues for a lower discount from a few years ago working retail our chain offered a 10% discount on full priced items for members of local groups or societies as long as they had a valid membership card on this occasion we also had quite a few product lines on buy two get one free sale for members of our loyalty program enter Clara are 50 years old lady with a stern look she had been looking around the store for a bit was greeted by another staff member and told about some of the sales I was doing some paperwork at the counter when she approached me with a few items hi there how did you find everything today good thank you that's great are you a member with us if so you'll get these pins buy two get one free today yes and I'm also a member at a local group no problems these items are actually already on sale though so you can't use your local group discount as well as the sale why not I always get 10% off only on full priced items but don't worry the buy two get one free works out cheaper anyway no I want to use my 10% off I'm really sorry but we can't use both discounts at the same time you aren't listening I want my 10% off I don't care about the other thing thinking maybe she didn't understand that the current sale was cheaper I quickly punched everything into the computer to tell her the difference in the prices okay I understand well normally full price these pens would come to $50 with your 10% off you would only save $5 but if I put them through at the current sale you would save $15 so your total would be $35 no I just want my local group discount I don't want whatever upselling you're trying to do to make me waste more money I know I'm entitled to my 10% off so just give me that at this point she was raising her voice and starting to glare so I thought you know what fine I tried to help you understand but why bother pay the higher price okay I'm really sorry let me put that through for you your total will be $45 this is where the look of realization starts to flood over her face she stares at me for a good few moments while I smile my polite customer service smile eventually she pulls out out some cash and pays and here's your change in receipt have a great day she quickly grabbed her stuff and left with the most defeated look on her face it was a good day the last story is called I am new here I had recently started working for a brown and yellow box shipping facility I ended up in a unique position as a front-end Clark this was a temporary job but if I did well I would be hired on as full-time I met the two ladies Wanda and Cindy who ran the front and began to learn as much as I could for two weeks before Cindy the one who ran everything in the front went on Christmas vacation I was her replacement I did so terrible to start but after a week of being literally fed to the wolves I began to catch on better Wanda did what she could for me but was in a way counterproductive at times because we did not get along and she knew about as much as I did just to give you an idea of the workload a typical day's work for my job is to separate all in-house packages from customer packages and to separate all customer packages from one another most packages are car parts or tractor parts all extremely heavy stuff I was a 25 year old woman at the time that took time and effort among my duties is to fix broken packages and handle losses and ship off lost packages to another brown and yellow box facility sometimes if they were behind on the belt they would even throw me up there for an hour or two even if I too was far behind on my work it was by far the most chaotic and disorganized place I'd ever worked and the lack of communication was very much a big issue for this place now back to the in-house packages these always get put on a cart and hauled over to the customer services door I knock I speak with the people inside and have them sign my tablet days pass in cart after cart after cart I'm running out of carts and one of these packages have been touched I speak with the manager of the morning shift about it and she said that it was my job to put these packages away so yet another job to take on okay I was told since I was new to only focus on the front counter duties and not the extra duties that have been tacked on to Cindy over the past 20 years I'm not sure what to do with all this stuff she shows me a closet and enters a passcode what I am not supposed to know I would need to get her every time something needs to go inside this closet just sign for the packages yourself and put them in here as soon as you get them we need the carts when you're done this is where my malicious compliance begins I'm not feeling a bit ticked off at yet another thing to do and begin filling in the closet with all those boxes trying to keep some order to start but it was hard to do with such little space and time if it was in-house it went straight to this room and it got full quick by the end of the week I had to start leaving a cart in front of the closet because there was no room left inside eventually they took my card and left the boxes on the floor which I got yelled at as a safety violation so I throw the boxes up over the piles in the closet just to get him out of the way later in the weeks to come there is a big problem the gas cards for their drivers were missing it was literally the week of Christmas and everyone was losing their minds the drivers were nearly two hours late already I overheard the managers flipping out saying this was the worst thing to possibly happen and that it was the first time in 30 years it's happened so do you guess where those gas cards ended up being in that stupid closet because everyone was too busy to check the loads I dropped off and just telling someone new to put it somewhere like I would even know what was important needless to say
