welcome to our slash I don't work here lady where we share stories about folks that are mistaken for employees by irate customers and the first story is no this is not XYZ shuttle bus I've been reading up on some posts here about wrong numbers and just today something happened again that I decided in sharing not one but two stories I never had a landline phone until about nine years ago I decided to get it because my cell phone service was pretty SH and I wanted a landline in case my calls were not coming in one important thing to note here is that the telephone companies have a certain amount of numbers for the public once they are gone they start to recycle old numbers that were no longer in use and it didn't matter if they were business numbers either so I get my landline and we start getting weird calls all of them were for two different businesses one is yup still around a shuttle bus service and the other calls were apparently for a pawn shop many of the calls for people asking for the bus service went like this wrong number equals WN me equals your humble servant wrong number hello me yes wrong number yeah I want to know when X shuttle service will be available tomorrow me sorry you have the wrong number they would usually hang up but then there would be idiots dialing the same number again me hello wrong number is this X shuttle me lady I already told you you have the wrong number this is a residential line wrong number so this is not shuttle can you give me their number at that point I just hang up we were getting at least four calls every week until I got fed up because people were calling at 2:00 a.m. in the morning and decided that the next time someone would call about the shuttle I would ask them for the address of this place sure enough two days later I got another call wrong number hello me yes wrong number is this shuttle me no but hey could you please provide me with the address for this shuttle service you're looking for wrong number I thought I was calling shuttle at 1 2 3 blah blah Road me know this is a residential line but people have been constantly calling my number asking for the same thing can I ask you where you got this number wrong number from a flier me when did you get the flier wrong number maybe a year ago I don't remember me Thanks so I got the address and decided to check their number their current number was not mine it was a completely different number so I called them and the following occurs shuttle this is shuttle how can I help you me hey I need to speak to the owner or supervisor of this company shuttle is there something wrong maybe I can help me no because this has to do with your flyer information owner comes in and answers the phone owner hello me yes I have a problem your customers are constantly calling my home number and I want you to tell all your customers that your number has been updated and to not call my number you've changed numbers recently have you owner no we changed numbers several years ago me well your customers are getting my number from your fliers owner hmm give me a second comes back after a few minutes I see what you mean I checked and our Flyers seem like they haven't been updated because since we have a lot of them we just stroked the old number by hand and wrote the new one down this is something common here people are 2d cheap to order new and updated media for their marketing me well please put out a general announcement to everyone did not call my number it's a very annoying nuisance and stop giving out those Flyers owner we will just make sure to strike your number we're not going to order a new batch just because of that we can manage things this way me okay well if you're not gonna do that then I will start to give out false information about schedules and prices how about that owner he hung up on me me mother effer ya Mexicans can be a else I'm in Mexico so please don't start with your racist BS I'm just stating a fact from here but as Mexicans we can also be very vindictive so we were continuing to get these calls I gave them a week to see if they fixed anything second week comes around we're still getting calls but we were fed up with them so when they would ask if we were the shuttle company we would say yeah and give false information made up schedules and fake prices we even told them that X shuttle company had better prices people were hecka confused because why was our company telling people that another company was better we had a ton of laughs except one that would call it very early hours in the morning or very late at night we would just hang up as soon as we heard them ask is this shuttle bus this goes on for another six months but by the end of that we were just hanging up one day I get a call me Hello Shuttle owner is this my number mate yes who is this owner I'm the owner of the shuttle bus me Oh tell me why I shouldn't hang up on you like you did to me when I asked for your help owner listen we've been getting a lot of complaints from our customers and I cut him off me oh so now you're concerned for your customers remember that I told you to fix that Aitch up or I will mess with your customers you didn't believe me did you owner okay listen I do apologize we've made an order for new fliers your number will not be there and we will tell all our customers to call our new number please if a customer still calls you please give them our number me why should I do that it's not my problem that you are an a hold of me and now you're paying for it owner just please as a personal favor me I'll do as I can but if I'm busy I'll just hang up on them because we're not your personal receptionist owner fair enough thank you and apologies yeah it's when they get hit in the wallet that they start to move the calls were still coming through for another two months and then stopped we do occasionally get a call or two every few months we just hang up so I guess a whole owner got his SH together the other story well apparently our D phone company had assigned our number to another company this other company was a pawn shop so not only were we getting calls from the shuttle service but also from people looking for their SH at the pond we were used to now hanging up on people or numbers that we didn't know but there was always some idiot calling not once or twice but three times the number needless to say we repeat at this point yeah it's not the person's fault but it's not ours either funny enough almost all the pawn calls we would get we're angry people or just plain rude there's one I remember clearly wrong number hello me hangs up wrong number dialing again me hello wrong number why did you hang up on me me who is this wrong number I want to talk to your manager you shouldn't be hanging up calls me lady you've got the wrong number that's why I hung up click I hang up again wrong number dialing for a third time me lady now very peeved you dialed the effing wrong number stop dialing wrong number you mean this isn't the pawnshop me no now stop calling I hang up wrong number dials again me what the f is your problem I told you this is not the pawnshop wrong number you don't have to be rude you know me so you called me again to tell me that I shouldn't be rude when you've been harassing me with your calls are you an idiot or do you actually have a screw loose I hang up she didn't dial again but those pawn calls were very similar people calling over and over even when we just picked up the call to hang up so they stopped calling we would not pick up the phones if the caller ID showed a number we didn't recognize so just as with the shuttle service I tried to locate the D pawn shop but to no avail there like 20 different locations with the same name I have no clue which one had our number before us and even the shuttle service just as we had had fun with the shuttle service calls we would sometimes also have fun with the pong calls people would generally ask if they can go back and pay for their stuff and we would just say oh no you can't we sold it they would get peeved off of course and say that they still had time and that they could not do that we would just laugh and say oh well then you should hurry up and see if you can talk to the manager and we hung up it was annoying at first funny after the first months and then just tiring after a while I'll still try to figure out where this pawn shop is located so I can call but no luck yet we didn't get as many calls for the pawn shop as we did the shuttle and just today we had another loser calling us asking us not to sell his sh that he was gonna pass by and pay we didn't even answer we just hung up the phone maybe one day I'll find out where this mystical pawn shop is located so I can ask them WTF the next story is job keep scheduling well beyond time that I quit reading some of your posts reminded me of this fun situation a few years back I was waiting tables at one of those places where you could easily pay all of your bills and plus some working three to four shifts a week because I had so much downtime and would do things like have random road trips if I had too many days off I decided it would be a good idea to get a second job I ended up taking a job working at a hotel waiting tables for breakfast surprisingly Hotel breakfast servers and nice hotels can make decent money this might be a good time to mention that they had to hire breakfast people because existing staff just wouldn't show up as scheduled anyway it's a mess from the beginning they're trying to do team service during breakfast which was unnecessary and confusing to guests more than once I'd show up and be the only front waiter the person who actually takes the order and talks to guests with three people whose only job is to keep drinks full who would have a fit every time I sold alcohol it's a drinking City and people want booze for breakfast and another three whose only job was to clear and reset completely unacceptable on a Saturday morning in a full hotel eventually I was over it and turned in my two weeks notice the schedule comes out for the week after I'm supposed to be done and I'm on it I talked to the manager and remind him that I turned in my notice and I'm scheduled past my last day I agree to work that week but that's it next schedule same thing same conversation third week rolls around and I'm over it I remind all managers that my last day was two weeks ago and advised them to look at the schedule I show up for any of the ships that week so I assumed the matter was closed fast forward two weeks later now seven weeks after I turned in my notice and five weeks after what was supposed to be my last day my phone is ringing off the hook at 7:00 a.m. it's one of the managers desperate in trying to call me I remind him that I quit over a month earlier it turns out that not a single front waiter showed up and the small army on the floor was incapable of doing anything beyond pouring a coffee or grabbing a juice things I told them about is part of my reason for leaving I just told him sorry I don't work there and it's not my problem and hung up never heard from them again after that thanks for listening bye
