hey everyone and welcome to story time my name is Jake and today we are gonna be looking at the subreddit ah / I don't work here lady we're crazy customers mistake random people for being actual employees hey any nurse embarrassed herself background I am currently living in a neuro disability nursing home for some rest by while changes are made to home and adjustments and assessments made to my care etc luckily I'm very happy in this home they've let me bring one of my cats who is very clingy and all the staff are lovely this happened last Monday but I've not felt well enough to type it up until today I'm in mobile but I'll try to make the layout read well it takes a while to get into the I don't work here lady because I'm bad at condensing stories sorry but it's all relevant I promise the story last Sunday I had a bad fall trying to move from my wheelchair to my bed recently I've kept fainting which doctors believe is a result of a stomach condition I have gastroparesis and my body not absorbing nutrients making me deficient in many as well as always being dehydrated causing the dizziness and subsequent fainting where feeling faint I had to lean forward to pull the call bell for support however I had placed my left hand to steady myself to lean forward between the mattress and the bed rail I fell forwards pulling my shoulder out of its socket not usual as I have EDS but this was a traumatic dislocation and twisting my arm behind my head and I fell onto my bottom my arm was stuck like this for ten minutes until help came managed to get my arm out and I could relocate the joints my hip dislocated - and then I was hoisted into bed the nurse on shift came and checked over me and said I should go into the hospital she knew I would say no as I hate Hospital I spent a total of eight months in hospital last year and six the year before because of complications of my physical health conditions I also have many complex mental health issues including severe anxiety PTSD and a massive phobia of men aana accident an emergency the UK version of the ER in particular is I hate the most due to how busy it always is and how many males are about both patients relatives and staff the week before I was in a na because I fainted three times in ten minutes and had no recollection so it was forced to go and struggled so much I tried to take my own life before discharging myself back to the safety of the care home so I refused a repeat visit the next day my arm had swollen substantially was more painful to move than a broken bone and I could barely move it the nurse made me go into the hospital and I started to freak my parents don't live nearby and I had no one to come with me and when the ambulance arrived I was having a panic attack one of the carers from the home offered to come with me because she was just finishing her shift and before I knew it we were off to hospital in an ambulance thankfully I was allowed to request going to a different AME from the week before what I know and that's usually quieter too we arrived and the carer will call her nap was still in her work uniform which is black work trousers and a light green cotton tunic with a nurse's watch hanging off the front pocket she sat with me in the cubicle and we were chatting away with her keeping me calm and not focusing on the male's walking past as it's a na you have to keep the curtains open unless a member of staff is with you so everyone could see her sat with me chatting and on our phones etc staff kept walking past and looking in but that's normal for A&E with them looking for staff such equipment such a BS such patients welfare etc so we thought nothing of it even though as time went on staff were looking far from happy when they look dead but I put it down to either having lost something or it being close to the end of their shift two hours into me being here and waiting for our doctor to review my x-rays I tell not to go to the waiting room and get herself some crisps as she was hungry we had been told the doctor would be with me in 20 to 30 minutes so knowing that no one was due to come in to see me until then I felt calm enough letting her go for a couple of minutes literally within a minute or so of her going a nurse walked past my cubicle and looking in and rolled her eyes she stacked to walk into my cubicle and I started to get anxious as she looked angry one thing to add here is that in UK hospitals staff members called health care assistants wear a light green cotton tunic with black work trousers they are like Nurse Aides the conversation went as followed where has that girl gone only to reception to get some crisps as she is hungry she'll be back soon so can we wait until she is pleased as I'd rather not be on my own whilst you do whatever you need to do no she can't just babysit you there are lots of other patients here and all she's done here is sit chatting with you and sitting on her phone you don't even need an e PD a person who sits with a patient who without one-on-one would be a risk to either themselves or others as you look fine with her and I don't pay agency staff to sit down and chat all day I'm starting to panic and trying to process everything she said and tried to stay calm enough to respond but I'm shaking and my breathing is stank to fasten I'm also trying and failing not to cry you can't take her and use her to go to other patients she's only here to be with me she the nurse cuts me off you can't tell me where I use my staff it's a busy department and I need her to help with all patients you can turn the waterworks off you weren't crying or panicking when she was with you the whole time so you can stop it now tell her when she gets back to come and find me I need her to stop the resuscitation covered by now I'm really struggling to talk and reply but also angry her implying that NAT was lazy and refusing to work when she was actually here hours after her shift finished when she didn't have to be and she's one of the hardest-working staff know she has to stay with me she doesn't work for you she came with me from my care home she didn't have the time to change from her care worker uniform and is here because I don't cope in A&E slash hospitals because of my mental health and she has managed to keep me calm and distracted that I've not had a panic attack such breakdown must I've been here for the first time in years I'm so angry now that my breathing has calmed down and I'm not crying now the nurse goes very very red and shifting from foot to foot looking very embarrassed oh oh I see I I didn't realize I no one told me I just saw the uniform and guess she was an agency worker I'm so sorry I'll leave you alone she'll be back soon she speed walks out of the cubicle and whilst I'm angry at how she spoke to me I was more relieved she was gone and a little proud of myself for standing up if it had been a male nurse it would have been a very very different story that returned a minute or so later and before I had a chance to explain the doctor came I hadn't broken my arm but had pulled some of the muscle that attaches to your shoulder to your elbow off just below the joint and had twisted it causing it to bleed internally and it was this that caused the swelling and pain the doctor wanted to keep me in but I told her I was better at the nursing home and my GP can investigate the fainting in the taxi on the way home I explained to that why we had so many dirty looks from staff when she was sat with me and it gave us a good life for the journey back you be the employee I'll be the manager I just moved to a new city and was taking a look around the local superstar on my lunch break I wasn't planning on getting anything except a drink so no car or basket which added to the confusion before I round a denial the yelling started and around the corner I saw a woman but rating a tall fellow with a shopping basket standing with his head down the woman was shrieking about how much of an idiot he was how could store could hire stupid morons and how she was going to get his sorry butt fired all while he's saying but ma'am I'm just shopping I just helped that lady get something from the shelf and the ever-famous I don't work here she was not having it I want to speak to your manager right now just as I got to the middle of the aisle she turned and saw me looked me up and down and screeched finally your manager is here and she'll take care of you as she stood with her hands on her hips and a smug look on her face I decided whatever two can play at this game so I asked her what her problem was apparently my employee was helping another lady when she wanted him to go get something from the back for her he refused I looked at him winked and said is that true did you refuse to help this lady and before he could say anything I turned back to her and said thanks for bringing this to my attention I'll take it from here I turned back and said would you please come with me and he nodded and followed me out of the aisle as we got to the corner he turned back to me and said I'm sorry mum I don't actually work here I said me neither but she doesn't need to know that you okay he started to smile then looked behind me and his eyes widened she was back I said loud enough for her to hear I'm sorry this isn't working out please clock out and go home the next time you come here it will be as a customer not staff I turned to her nodded and walked out the door so I the non manager at a grocery store fired a non-employee and everyone went home happy except me because I forgot to pick up a drink in all the excitement the only problem there is that she's given the crazy lady some positive reinforcement so now she's probably gonna do it even more so hopefully we get another person like that next time she does it wait I actually do work here what is going on I'm so done with my job okay I was at work a few days ago and I was in my full uniform on the clock getting paid ringing people up I was walking toward the front after my lunch and I stopped by a lady asking where the pain is I sent her to the right section and continued walking as I'm leaving a man walks past me muttering about being unable to find something I think it was the model cars for reference I spent a lot of time around our models and hobby section because I make miniatures into jewelry and props for cosplay I know that damn section inside and out I stop and ask him how he is and if you need help finding something I see idiot customer me overworked underpaid craft store employee Oh do you know where I can find an employee sir I work here what are you looking for um well you probably wouldn't know anything about them so I'm going to go find a real employee me a 25 year old woman sir I definitely am a real employee what are you looking for I'm looking for model cars you wouldn't get it he walked away I walked to the front and began ringing people up and about ten minutes later one of my male co-workers came up to me asking about the models and Hobby section with the same man from earlier my coworker knew nothing about that section giving that he is mainly in the seasonal section of the other side of the store and knows absolutely nothing about models I freaking can't anymore he's probably one of those monthly men that thinks he's better than everyone but then this woman will probably come along and know like ten times as much as he does about the cars it's 2019 come on guys I don't work there so basically I'm a customs officer working in an airport in Ireland and I control passengers in the luggage hall coming into the country we get a lot of American passengers coming in and they ask a lot of questions which is normal and we happily answer them as long as they don't take the mick and ask a million questions each today was different today I met my first American Karen it's 6:00 a.m. I'm tired yet to have my coffee the clocks have gone back an hour or so and I've had less sleep than I would like but I stay professional and courteous as I normally am that's when I spot her chin held high sunglasses on hair in a bun she approaches me at a brisk pace excuse me sir how much alcohol am I allowed to bring into the u.s. from Ireland now this might seem like a normal question and to an extent it is however I don't work for US Customs nor do I work in the u.s. so I have no idea which I tried to explain to Karen sorry madam I'm not sure you will have to search online this is what you can do in Ireland so I assume you could do so for the US oh she did not like that at all excuse me this is your job you are supposed to know this stuff I try again to explain that I do not work for the US Customs and I do not know that information this went back and forth for several minutes and eventually I told Karen that I would not be explaining it to her again and that she would have to leave the luggage hall how dare you I want to speak with your manager at this stage I've lost all patience I simply could not be bothered anymore I do however have a plethora of powers that I can use to finish this wonderful conversation I look her dead in the eye and say madam I have entertained you for long enough if you cannot understand me you will not understand anyone here I am a customs officer not a customer service what you are doing is obstructing a customs officer from doing their duties which is an offense and can lead to your arrest there's the exit good day Karen now red-faced and quite visibly frustrated and probably offended Huff's and puffs and finally goes away I then went for a much-needed coffee break that was a perfect line I am a customs officer not customer service oh I like that hey everyone I hope you're all having a really good day and that you enjoyed that video if you did remember to leave a like on it and subscribe if you aren't already if you want to check out some
