Smit lloyd presents her new star the seventy five hundred horsepower tug anchor handling supply vessel of which six are already in operational at all c and v law are under construction the Smith Lloyd 104 proceeds at a speed of 15 knots to her first rig move these vessels are built for operation and extremely bad weather but today the weather is fine and the crew is celebrating as a team they work hard but they also play hard weather conditions have been severe during the last winter in the North Sea where by the rate lost all her ten boys offer anchor pattern to recover the 18 ton anchors which are connected to 5,000 feet of two and three-quarter inch anchor wires a special wire chaser is necessary to avoid damaging the steel wires after the chaser has been placed by divers around the anchor wire the pennant line connected to the chaser has transferred to the vessel the cap stones are used to place the wire in a proper position and cheating can now start great care must be taken to maneuver the chaser along the anchor wire until it reaches the anchor while the vessel starts to reel in the pennant wire the chaser locks itself and breaks the anchor out of the seabed watch the smooth turning of the eight-foot diameter Stern roller here comes the chaser again the chaser locks itself because of the chasing the anchor arrives at the stern roller upside-down and must be turned before being pulled on board after a new anchor pennant has been attached the anchor is turned by means of the winches and kept stones the anchor is now fully operational the repair job is done and the anchor will be lowered about 100 feet below the stern while the rig heaves in the wire the powerful bow thruster holds the vessel in position while the pennant line is taken on board the rig after all 10 anchors have been recovered this way the crew prepares the vessel for towing the rig to our next location the easily movable towing bars are locked in position the wire is carried over the towing bars allowing unobstructed movement of the wire during the tow towing connection with a rake is made the vessel moves ahead until three thousand feet of towing line has been paid out and the tow begins this is where the large powerful tug supply vessel of a Smith Lloyd fleet proves her worth our 100 class has a baller pull of 100 tongues and a quick move to the next location means dollar saved for the operator once at the new location the rig anchors must be set the captain uses radar to spot the preset marker boy where the anchor must be set the whinges are controlled from the control booth here is the marker boy the break is released and the anchor is lower to the seabed the heavy Stern roller runs smoothly avoiding friction damage to the wire as the anchor approaches the sea-bottom the speed is reduced to achieve a soft landing to protect anchor and pennant line to pull the boy into position they powerful capstans are used and after the pennant line is secured the boy has slipped over the stirrup the job is just completed in time because another North Sea storm is on the way the ship is riding high once again on standby in hurricane force 12 and more and sees over 55 feet now our job is yeah no matter what the weather the Smith Lloyd fleet will serve you anywhere anytime anyhow I think
