so I noticed while playing beyond all reason I get uh pretty focused uh a game has a lot going on and I don't end up doing much commentary while playing so I decided a simple way to fix that would be just commentate the replays Beyond no reason has a pretty solid replay system where you can really easily just see what you or anyone else was doing afterwards you can't rewind so we're gonna watch it straight through but I thought any commentary probably better arguably than no commentary and of course the crab Champions soundtrack which I've been listening to on repeat of course unrelated amazing game nothing like beyond all reason anyway so this is a I learned this from clivet not directly just by watching his replays the whole trickle-down meconomics of RTA anyways like like And subscribe before I get too into it the idea is here on Rosetta which is a map with a back line and a whole lot of a metal here I usually keep the metal V1 I'm starting out with uh three mexus and solar this map the wind is 7.5 average which means wind turbines are very technically more efficient but solar panels I find it really nice for uh I mean having a consistent build I almost always unless the wind's like 14 or 15 at this point um unless the wind's like 14 or 15 start with so a couple solar panels um as I'm starting up that production makes it more consistent because solar always has 20 energy even if it is a big initial metal investment you usually have the metal and on this map uh like many Maps there's some reclaim there's some rocks laying around you can chew up in the metal so that that helps early on especially when you're going with those solar panels so the idea is going to be I'm I'm gonna sit back I'm gonna build tier three I'm gonna try not to be useless because uh that does seem like a reach I've gotten there well this game is my fastest it's about 14 minutes in we get to Marauders not the Starcraft two Marauders but kind of similar actually uh the tier three Armada um which is incredibly good for just kind of breaking through the front lines getting to the back line if they're not ready I'm gonna rely on my teammate to for the most part essentially buffer for me I'm Mr Penguins over here uh this is a relatively high level I'd say the average uh skill level of the lobby has a tendency to be pretty high when I'm hosting them um but it well into the 20s so well past like your starting level um I'd say probably like the equivalent of like diamond-ish in Starcraft too so anyways um but that doesn't mean I'm not gonna make any units I'm gonna make three very specific units on tier two I'm just going to tell you right now uh the Gunslinger and two spider bots spider reclaim Bots now I would have never known these things without watching Clive who is now the number one ranked uh team player but the Gunslinger is uh tier two or modbot it it um pretty much outranges all tier one and as it kills more things it gets that experience it uh gets more range it's one of the few units that don't just get like more HP for leveling up uh not too much more but it starts to outrange pretty much all tier one units uh and it auto repairs which is very important and also um the reclaimed Bots the EMP spiders I believe they're called Webbers which is uninspired I feel but uh but the the spiders can reclaim and they heal when they were cleave so that's actually so essentially you have a unit that can out out maneuver and support on the front line and then units that can reclaim as well on tier two uh and unlike the normal reclaim Bots like the the Lazarus there that's going around getting that metal um it they can actually shoot they they EMP and potentially stun their targets which allows the Gunslinger to come in so it's the it's the gun spider build which it honestly is just a lot of fun to play so even if I don't know I was watching the replay of Clive and I'm still not sure if it was a meme as in like in this case kind of a joke okay so I'm gonna pause for just a moment for those of you actually trying to learn something so I've gotten to the point I've got all my mixes here I've gotten about 400 Energy like uh usually Advanced solars I want to get to around 300 energy you can afford them assuming you're not pumping units here so I'm gonna sack my commander self-destruct in the corner get that 2000 metal I'm getting gotten a little better at managing it so I don't overflow because what I'm gonna do first because remember the commander is some of your storage so you got to be a little careful about that uh is just proclaiming the bot lab you can maybe put like an air pad in here I'm getting too fancy I've been trying to add like an aircraft plant just explicitly for like one air Constructor and um see one air Constructor and a transport for the tier two but I'm not gonna start reclaiming my commander I'm gonna reclaim the tier one bot Lab First pretty much I'm checking around like are we losing mid super hard am I going to have to build units because nothing is more frustrating than having someone behind you that's playing City skylines while you're falling apart so I'm constantly like like my goal is to get to tier three but if the line's breaking then uh well you gotta deal with it so I'm also building the geothermal at the same time which is honestly a bit much uh but I go over I reclaim the bot lamp I'm reclaiming the commander so I'm gonna get a few um tier two Constructors for those Advanced Metal extractors they're super expensive pretty much you can't go tier two just macroing um unless you sack your commander uh so but that is kind of integral I'm sitting there the reason I didn't finish off the commander I like to commit fully uh but I'm I'm reclaiming my solar panels slowly and replacing them a little with Advanced solar because those solar panels the only thing it costs uh like you get all the metal back but only when you finish reclaiming it otherwise you could do some weird like repairing kind of stuff so not until um you actually reclaim the thing but I'm slowly switching out my solar panels they're just that that and that's another reason I like opening solar is uh much like the Starcraft player they're just very consistent okay they're not amazing not particularly efficient just really consistent makes it a lot easier to map out your builds um and the reason Advanced solar is good is build power limitations the ability to sync your resource into something yeah I'm just constantly looking over and now I got a few butlers so Butlers are I believe they're what are they what are they called um one moment they're uh assist and repair bots so they have how much build power they have 140 build power and they're quite they're only 200 metal and they're fast so you can go around and essentially once once a blueprint is laid down all you need is build power for it but you just need the level of tech to lay down like the Advanced Metal extractor which I'm stretching myself too thin here this is totally a mistake um like I'm trying to build two metal extractors a gunslinger and I'm still working on the geothermal too many directions too much okay it's stretching the income too far here once those metal extractors finish up now I'm a little concerned so this is clearly not like I'm panicking like ah okay all right well what I did here was I I pulled the butlers well they finished they finished the metal extractors which was convenient but the Gunslinger you want to just it's much better to build like metal extractor guns like have a plan if you don't have the income you gotta map out the order in which you're building things so I think this is pretty close I think clay Rick got his uh tier three Marauders with a similar build I'm like the same positions of the same map I like this map I'm not for for APA by the way um it's not too involved so the games are relatively quick this game's I mean you probably can tell as well under 30 minutes but here you go so I just want to go over these units real quick so you got the Gunslinger which is quite expensive a 650 so uh it's even more expensive than the tier two um instructive and then you got your Weber's which are pretty cheap and they do have that reclaim option so and they're they're pretty tanky for the 1100 Health compare that like tier one Constructor is 600 even the tier one tanks let's see let's find a full HP like 700 so they they don't die easily uh and the Gunslinger auto repairs and has the extra range so the idea here is I can be in the fight I can help against tier one stuff while still focusing almost entirely and building up my economy to where it needs to be to support tier three once again this was my first attempt at doing this build after seeing it but I thought it was a pretty good demonstration I want to try out this whole commentating the replay thing so hopefully enjoy see all right Focus 90 of the game 10 on the annoying chat I mean amazing chat okay and then now I focus 90 of the commentary and ten percent of the game hopefully it's a happy bounce you get you doubled I don't call it double dipping I call it a second a second helping or maybe I just don't call it anything because that just sounded dope anyway so I've built this is a fourth Constructor I believe one or two players uh sent me metal to build a Constructor as players will do you transfer them that um I over built like in order to do the build I feel like yeah I just transferred um one to the doctor one to Green you should only need two tier two Constructors here one if you get an air pet in order to have a transport so I just got a ton of you see where all that metal came from they didn't just give me a bunch of metal I just reclaimed like a thousand something metal um with uh those spiders reclaim like a lot of people get tied up playing City skylines but the real money is in salvaging your enemies like you see here using the uh reclaim shift queue if I do I'm gonna need at least one probably two Fusion reactors in order to go two three and you'd like at least three thousand one thing I noticed about uh Pirates games is that um he finds a timing kind of like in Starcraft how you stop like 66 workers is three base saturation it's kind of like that so essentially two Fusion reactors and in this case you got a tier 2 geothermal or one Fusion reactor tier two geothermal is the best thing in the game it's it's most efficient it's the most bestestist it also explodes the most dramatic so you got to be a little careful you could technically get the approved uh geothermal plant which um let me click I'm I'm technically on my camera so it's screwing it up anyway so there's another geothermal that Armada can get or the Cerberus which is the uh um the uh artillery version for for cortex but there are only very Niche situations with that most of the time you want to get the tier 2 geothermal and if it explodes well you're probably screwed anyways because that's probably a bunch of your metal income so just just give that so I'm getting the the fusion I've built like five or six butlers I've been really coming around to to using these uh repair slash assist spots it's literally what they're called so and I'm going to salvage the tier 2 botlab you get 100 back it just takes time and energy to salvage so like uh or recline rather so it is it is kind of an odd scenario but a lot of builds involved essentially um getting a building reclaiming it and building another one with the metal like essentially evolving like a Pokemon all right you don't have the old Pokemon you got a new Pokemon but it might be related to the old one sometimes it's not like the gantry I'm adding on so the one awkward part about the butlers which is why I usually like getting one clear Constructor uh is there's no no they can't build construction turrets that's probably the most I mean you don't need construction turrets if you have Constructors they literally serve the exact same purpose but at some point I feel like you really just get the construction shirts like everybody not too many because at some point like they can only spend so many resources at once but I think for tier two like if I was building tier two units I'd probably have five or six about a thousand build power between them um if I couldn't afford that I just need to get more income for tier three I think you need so the experimental gantry just kind of a weird name but um it costs what is it 8 900 something obscene a a lot a lot of mineral 7 900 Okay so obviously that's the the biggest investment there so even though some of the units uh are relatively like like The Marauder which I'm queuing up right now is only 970 metal uh it still Hunter is being insane I that's what I do that's what I do I guess we have spectator chat on here which I don't usually have them okay all right bye friends as much as I you get everything in the replays so the idea here is the midline is hell so like if if the bot Lane was breaking uh or getting overrun or like wasn't pushed past the halfway mark I don't know if I well it really depends a big it depends also I should have gotten the timing for anti-nuke on most Maps there's between 12 and 14 minutes I'm not a huge fan of the new crush strategies but they can work and if you don't get anti-nuke by like so the quickest new brushes on more macro oriented Maps like ice cream is like 12 and a half minutes or something disgusting if they're on point um whereas uh on maps like this I think it's a little later because you just can't get quite as well unless unless they I don't know the math and people are actually coordinating to send money and all that but anyway so we got the Gantry right now my energy is about 4K I'm watching my team so at this point I'm feeling like yeah this is so a lot a lot of these Eco builds aren't focused around like a big um like a juggernaut rush or something but I really like the timing belts this is essentially I think the equivalent um I guess a Starcraft 2 equivalent would literally be just great I guess it's more like Cyclones The Marauder all right they're pretty fragile but they're quick and if it's gonna be hard to deal with them if they get behind your lines honestly The Marauder is kind of like the marauder and start crafting it's like a big strong Marauder it it even feels the same to Minecraft for me like it's just instead of having being like a bunch of different units it's just one is worth like the strength of five or eight let's see two mirages anyways so you see right now I've got minus 86 uh I want to point out the the converter widget up here so that shows how many of my energy converters are making metal from the energy I have tier one energy converters convert one metal out of 10 energy um oh wait no no that's not is that is that right once again I'm gonna have to do some met don't judge me uh no that's not right I think that's the ratio but so 600 energy becomes 10 metal so let's just say about uh one to sixty there for advanced whereas tier one um is one to seventy but very key tier one does not taste so it's about 1 7 less efficient don't don't get me on that man but it only takes one metal so I'm spamming the tier one converters because I have plenty of energy but I have no metal so the startup cost of the advanced converter isn't worth it compared to you know getting more metal now uh I'm not here for statistics I'm here for I like this build a lot because it can take advantage of your teammates doing well and if they're not doing well you still have an opportunity to just stop at any point like I could have stopped at tier two and built like hounds or something to support it it feels nice to be able to just kind of cut off and find a timing it is pretty micro intensive both like the fact that I didn't find many opportunities to use the Gunslinger this game because my teammates are doing so well if we were getting pushed though the Gunslinger is very good for holding like anything that breaks through so like 10 grunts get through Gunslinger is about as fast as them so it can just out migrate them so here T3 has arrived yes that's usually a huge moment um let's just compare to the other this is a balanced game it has the same level of players compared to the other team uh they got stuck bogged down on tier two and on a lot of maps you're gonna that's gonna happen but essentially uh even though our economies are almost identical 9.69 000 per team but I've I've sprinted towards these Marauders and now that I have the Gantry up um the Marauders are actually cheaper than many tier 2 units it's just they're fast just just real quick they have the and they also have an anti-air attack so like it's not the they're not the the strongest unit out there by any means but they're faster than almost all tier two units uh they're essentially like an advanced Gunslinger in that so uh it's a very difficult for tier one and two units to even get close to them uh though the stronger things like snipers will uh pretty easily deal with them but the idea is suddenly 14 minutes or so man 15 minutes now there's tier three units coming across the map which most players might not even be tier two by then so the idea is that it just kind of stops the field and I have a set Target as default so if that Commander comes into range they'll Target him but I can outrange the commander as well the usual Menace of tier two is the fiends but the Marauders are actually faster than the fiends and easily outrange them so it actually it's not just a it's a pretty hard counter to fiends which are very common tier two kind of spam unit yeah I don't think this is a unless you're kind of understanding of a claim mechanics and such I don't think there's necessarily a bill to break out but knowing that this is possible I think is about it this isn't supposed to be a guide I'm just trying to make it a little more entertaining I'm just commentating because I don't usually commentate if I uploaded the VOD of this then it would have just been me sitting there staring intently uh trying to out micro fiends with Marauders and looking like a sweaty tryhard and succeeding thank you very much but uh as I'm constantly looking at the mini map as well so in order to do like a split I'll drag out a half circle or a full circle and then the units will automatically split in different directions also I'll do a lot of um uh just splitting units off the control group my I think I have them Auto Group to one but using that control tilde to split it off and then just sending one Marauder out but as you can see those fiends are really struggling the turrets don't be intimidated by light laser turrets okay they're just there to discourage um essentially grunts that's about it it is very satisfying it's at this moment I'm like oh yeah I found a new build I like oh yeah where they're just ripping through the base I think I lost one or two in going through the units and the base of course my teammates holding the line strongly so that was an enemy Commander uh yellow just cloaked and self-destructed his Commander and took out like half of them which was over half but they're still more than zero left so and it's not like I'm all in or anything it's actually a very nice balance right now I still have I don't know if I still have the spider so I haven't been looking at it but if you look at the energy just barely spending all of it uh the metal just barely ideally you have a slight Surplus so you can do like you could the switch of your Tech so everything going well I'd say about 4K energy obviously a hundred metal a lot of that is the reclaim but so what would I do if I was being stopped here uh usually the follow-up is rattlesnakes oh I said it again uh Razorbacks Razorbacks are a similar looking Mech out of the gantry um essentially I've I've had games where the other team goes Marauders or they have stronger tier two the Razorback battlemech how appropriate not skipping straight to Titans but instead the Razorbacks are also quite quick 69 speed compared to the 95 but compared to the Titan which is only 46 of the Thor which is 54 like the Razorbacks are very good at clearing large amounts of units so if I wasn't ripping their base to shreds right now like say maybe made a little progress but clearly it wasn't going to break through I'd probably switch to Razorbacks and be focusing on upping my economy which I'm already doing and then adding in if the stalemate continues uh make sure I get an air pad just tier one Fighters get a fighter screen um probably a Juno in order to do anti-radar and then a tier two something probably bot lab to just Spam I like welders for spamming uh very tanky holds the front line well building whatever strong unit behind it really depends on the situation but that's that's where we go from here because the game's about to end has the Marauders have ruined their economy remember how the economies were even well they still have a similar amount but we're up now by almost double I took out the tier 2 Geo Marauders just melting everything very satisfying attack very microbial unit as well they have a pretty quick turn rate which is pretty relevant I asked that was annoying but when when they're desperately trying to de-gun your unit that costs only a thousand metal you're in pretty good shape no the Gunslinger only got seven kills so definitely the Gunslinger Is Not Great against tier two um it's mostly for bullying tier one um because of your quick T2 play I have no idea where the spiders went or if they're still alive I like the spiders but only because they're spiders in there and they're fun I mean they have reclaim and all that but so this turned a slight advantage and just ripped the game wide open and all right three four minutes I mean now it's just clean up Duty right so but you know I'm not sure why it may have overdone it on the anti-air Bots there good job team good Frontline action uh I think a big part yeah once again it's understanding the reclaim and knowing if you need to start building units for the team it's much better to just be building tier two units and hold the line that is to sacrifice the entire front line to try to get tier three because by that point they'll have too much time to begin like they'll be able to realize you have tier three and build units to actually deal with it by the time you get across the map so it isn't in your favor to sacrifice that much ground just to get a few uh of the weakest tier three units but I hope this was it kind of turned into a bit of a guy thing but could have just talked about how cool and sick my micro was um but hopefully at least something interesting there and uh yeah and it metal production energy production did end up scaling pretty hard but that was much because almost no pressure earlier well what do you think thank you for watching I hope you enjoyed um yeah that was uh Mirada rush and beyond all reason so I don't know why am
