coming up a country crooner takes us to his 150 acres friends we invite you inside celebrity homes first let's chuck on over to the rustic tennessee ranch of a country good ol boy crazy Ricky van Shelton has been a velvety voiced country music icon for more than ten years Ricky sold more than 10 million albums but when he's not making music Ricky and his wife Betty enjoy the wide open spaces of their 150 acre farm near Nashville I like waking up in a country where I hear the cows bellowing in the field and my beagle running something up through the woods or hear the tree frogs the crickets or hear the river and the birds surrounded by the sounds of the country Ricky and Betty saw this open patch of land and knew they'd found a place for their rustic dream home if you look up this way this is the back of the house because you can't see very much right now but that's why we wanted the house once the macho cowboy built his home he used his more sensitive side to furnish it I like to antique and so when I travel around the country oh I love signs like I love porcelain signs but I go antiquing when I'm on the road I get a couple hours in the day and I just see something I like I pick it up I don't collect a high-priced collectibles you might say if I like it then I buy it you know it's just that simple and this is my chair this is my that's her chair these are my books right yeah and that's our couch I lay there in evenings sometimes she rubs my feet while we watch TV that's secret stuff and I have a stereo here which this is the worst design in the world because when you want to play a record an album you got to get down on your knees like this with a flashlight where's the flashlight then you want to operate your your amp here and you can't read it because it's black you have to get down on the floor like a dog why don't they make him up put him up here breathing not this this was a slingshot that I bought when when I was probably 12 or 13 years old and this is one that I made when I was Burt the same age and I hang on to everything I'm a packrat man I don't throw nothing away your daddy was a pack rat too and I had to dust everything one collection Ricky probably doesn't mind dusting himself is the group of awards he's earned over the years though you never know it by where it keeps them there's a hallway going to the bedrooms here that I have a lot of the gold and platinum albums and awards on that wall but they're really out of the way I'm proud of it I'm thankful for it but I don't want to display it all over the house well this is our kitchen I can make you the best baguette in the world and best chili beans in the world I'm still the best biscuit maker no yes I know I can like I can make biscuits when you buy them to explode in radiant crumbs my biscuits are better than your biscuits I don't know what else tell you about this except there's a lot of bugs and light up there and I can't get them out I'm gonna kill you Ricky make it around in the kitchen but his car collection is no joke I like the old cars I got a passion for old cars and I got a 58 Corvette that I found in a barn covered up with hay in 10 and restored it I'll just take it up the road and ride around in the country and course it's got the hardtop which comes off and back here this section will fold up and you can pull a convertible top up Ricky's 58 Chevy Impala is also a real classic the body and the engine and all the running gear is just absolutely perfect I mean absolutely it's a great car it just floats down the road it just it rides that term riding like a Cadillac well it's ride like a Cadillac cars aren't the only thing that self-proclaimed pack rat collects Ricky's home also contains a fully loaded studio this is these were staged rugs we'd care of these and unroll them on the stage and they would have tape where all the monitors went and tape for the speaker's went so you could just go play something and man do I have a stereo look at them speakers I've got enough I can you won't bother me in I got bottom in you tell her to subwoofer ain't got nothing on me my wife and I like the garden you know we she loves her flowers and but she likes to grow vegetables too and we both are really big into raising a big garden you know and we got these are cucumber vines here and of course you know being at the end of July they're pretty much going away now but it's great this is the first year we've raised them on a trellis and it's so easy to pick I mean you don't have to really hunt for them they just show themselves up great cute comes and she and I built the patio and and we built the greenhouse we just about threw the greenness we got to put electricity in it and I got a few more details to do but brother Ronnie so come up here right one of these days who do they like yeah Ronnie don't forget we need you we have lots of bumblebees and and they do stay in - yes and the best thing in the world put on the bee sting is wd-40 exactly right get stung with Abby spray it on it and then in 60 seconds it's going away first-hand experience it was and I got all kinds of fishing it's fish pond here we built we built this pond the lower pond - and I've got Florida hybrid bass hybrid bream shell cracker some crappy if you can Tennessee you call them crappie but back in Virginia we call them crappie now there's interesting story about this right here Betty hates this she hates this cow head this bull head whatever it is in a way this is the only thing I happened the first year of touring and she don't like it but I just I call him Fred hey you can't fault a guy for hanging on to a couple of kooky keepsakes after traveling the long road to success I was looking for it I wouldn't lay it home on the couch you know I've I picked up and I left my home my family my friends and I left went looking for that dream you know and I got lucky then Santa thank you so much for watching we'll see you next time on celebrity home softball I want to have a spring loaded swing so I took these hinges are these Springs off of the car hood and you can actually put them up here and if you want them you can bounce as you swing it has a lot of good ideas like that
