today on the point blank performance YouTube channel we're talking about the 68 rfe transmission we're off the engine subject but we're wanting to make our transmission last but we're not going to spend the money on a built transmission just yet what are we doing today we're going to show you guys how to install your solenoid pack on a Billet rev Max valve body if you've been following the channel you know Caden's truck the white l5p Duramax we've got those turbochargers off they're at the manufacturer getting rebuilt and they're coming back we'll have that video up for you guys when we get them now this truck is getting our C3 HP package a big single turbocharger we're not to the engine performance just yet on the dyno but we are focused on how do we make that transmission hold that power that's what we're showing you today so let's get this build underway so what tools are needed for the job to get your valve body out and assemble well for starters I'm going to start with a Torx 25 socket now you see I've got an impact over here why because it's going to speed me up a little bit but you don't have to have that what you will need is some kind of Ratchet I've got a quarter inch ratchet here to get the job done also you're going to need an eight millimeter socket this will allow you to drop the valve body out then you're gonna need a pick I've got a pick here with a nice smooth head on it that way I don't gouge anything now we got to put it all back together right yes what are you gonna need for that you will need a torque wrench that will read an inch pounds that way we can torque all this properly you've got a happy transmission now guys I've got my valve body on the table how do we get yours out of the truck and put it on the table so how do we get to this point where we've got the valve body on the table well you need to pull your truck into a shop or a garage you need a creeper so you can slide up underneath the truck you need a oil pan so you can drain the transmission fluid in it now we're at the point where we break out that eight millimeter socket take that and start removing the bolts around the oil pan now keep in mind when you get down to a couple of bolts you're going to want to brace the oil pan don't just undo all the bolts and just let it go see Jesus because guess what's happened you're going to let all that trans fluid hit the ground it's going to Splash up up you're going to be over the whole entire bill so hand on the pan remove a couple bolts when you get down to the very last let this hand free let some of the trans fluid down so that way it hits the pan perfect now for the next step you've got something blocking the valve body to get it out what is it it's your transmission filter now what I want you to locate is here back at the filter guess what this is where that Torx 25 comes into play there's a bolt here check it out see that bolt get it out of there righty tighty lefty Loosey once it's out your transmission filter is in there just like this it's in there with an O-ring holding again all you got to do is wiggle it left to right pull down as you pull down guess what fluid is going to come in and it's going to hit your pan step away from it for a little bit let it drain out now we're ready to drop the valve body out of the transmission how do we do that step one locate the driver's side of the transmission there's going to be a black retaining clip that fits over this white connector some are blue some are white it will have a red locking tab on it simply push the red locking tab up push the button on the black Tab and then pull the white case over it and the connector will come up now we're ready to actually drop this valve body now here's the easy fun straightforward part that eight millimeter socket that you guys have the only bolts that hold this in guess what they are they're eight millimeter all right now how many of them are there there is six I'm gonna count them with you guys there's one there's two there's three four we've got five and six now here's the deal don't go grab your impact and just go zip all six of these out and let this thing come out and hit the ground what just happened your core is now ruined they're fifteen hundred dollars don't do that do this I like this approach go in and remove one and two that leaves three remove four remove five but six and three leave them in there now start loose loosening them out if you've got someone to help you have them put their hands in the very middle of this valve body remove three once you get three out you've got six now it does not weigh a hundred pounds it probably weighs five pounds but it's a little scary when you're underneath the truck so remove three remove six walk it back and forth as you walk it back and forth guess what's going to come out transmission fluid that's fine just dump it but hold on to it keep it clean dump it in the trans pan get it out to the table now we're ready to remove the solenoid pack and transfer it to our Billet valve body so now just like you guys we've got all of our six eight millimeter bolts that were holding our valve body now it's on the table what's the next step our next step is we got to get this solenoid pack off of the factory unit and transfer it over here what's in our way the torque converter clutch solenoid the first thing that we're going to do we're gonna pick up our pick just like this mine's smooth and I'm going to get underneath the tab here when I get underneath it I'm going to gently pry up and I'm going to pull it back so that way we can pull this guy off here but we've got a bunch of bolts that's where I've got my impact it's the Torx 25. you can use your hand ratchet it will do the same job now my bolts are already loose but I'm going to count them for you of how many you will have on your valve body one two three four five six seven eight nine you've got nine of those bolts holding it on so after you get done removing them you want to pull that off now keep in mind pull it straight up so that way the bolt location of all these little bolts stay in their exact location you see here you've got a longer bolt so to make it all easy just pull it straight up and set it where it's not going to push the bolts out I'm going to set mine here put it on its side everything's fine now take a look at the valve body slow down you're not done you've got a check ball in there this check bolt lays right here in this gland if you lose it we're done let's don't be done pull that check ball out what I'm going to do I've got a seal here I'm just going to put it inside of the seal so that way it doesn't roll off the table because these old guys when they hit the ground they're gone next thing we're ready to pull the solenoid off we're ready to transfer it over here to the Billet valve body we've got more torque bolts in the way so what's our next step we're down to our last step of separating the solenoid pack from the valve body this is where you're going to need your impact or you grab your hand ratchet so we can remove the bolts mine have already been loosened but we remove the bolts they're Torx 25 how many bolts are there and what is the location with me count them out one two three four five six seven seven bolts hold the solenoid pack to the valve body take those bolts set them to the side now this is where you want to be careful take your hand and grip the solenoid pack grip the other side of the valve body keep pressure on the solenoid pack set the valve body down this is your solenoid pack here take it wiggle it once you removed it transfer it right over to your Billet valve body gently set it down we're ready for the next step now we just placed our solenoid pack onto the Billet valve body now sitting flush I feel confident with it what do we have to do we have to take this valve body and flip it just like we did before so I'm going to barely raise it up I'm going to put my hand on the solenoid pack I'm going to grab the valve body keep pressure applied rotate it set it down because it's going to be on the connector once it's setted you're gonna grab the seven torques 25 bolts that you just removed from the factory valve body and we're going to place them in these holes play some one two three four five six and then my seventh one goes right here seven positions that you need to put the Torx 25 bolts in now you're going to grab your torque wrench and we're going to torque them down so now before we get our torque wrench in action I have taken my impact and I barely kissed the bolts to the solenoid pack I'm not trying to break them off all I'm doing is pulling it flush so that way I'm not torquing all day with my torque wrench now here we go what is the torque specification for these 55 inch pounds again I said inch pounds how much is 55 inch pounds hardly nothing guys divide it by 12. so I've got it set up at 55. now how am I going to do this well I'm going to go to my first bolt now keep in mind 55 inch pounds isn't a lot so I'm just going to barely lean into it and the Bolt's going to tighten up how do I know when I've hit my torque specification my wrench clicks it actually gives and I can't go anymore so don't come in at it hot come in at it slow so I went from one now let's jump to five same thing I'm going to come in at it I'm going to torque it as soon as my torque wrench gives I'm going to let out so guys here's the thing if you do not torque all seven of these bolts correctly you're going to be calling up Rev Max well guess what rev Max now is email only for tech support ask me how I know so you've got all seven of your bolts torqued perfect go back and re-torque them one more time but before you do that make for sure that you label them all down that way you know and I know that they're torqued down ensuring that this valve body will work and keep in mind you ain't got to go in there hot just come in there torque it down when it clicks you're done you can sign off on it mission accomplished so now that we've got our bolts through the valve body into the solenoid pack in their torque we're ready for the next step what is that remember that brown check ball I need you guys to locate it ours is right here take that check ball and place it right here in the Glen it'll look just like the factory one that check ball is there I see it everything is good so we just placed our check ball inside the Billet valve body we're ready for our next step and I know what you're thinking grab the torque converter clutch solenoid throw it on the valve body torque it down you're done not just yet rev Max just now started supplying this gasket this gasket will need to be attached to the torque converter clutch solenoid how do we do that well as I stated before these bolts are loose make for sure when you pick it up you put your hand covering all the bolts so that way they don't fly out now this needs to be attached the bolt here is the bolt that holds the factory cover gasket on in place now you can just take this gasket put it over the top of the bolts it'll only go one way and torque it down but I want to show you what's underneath just in case you were to accidentally drop this plate I'm going to pull my plate up take a look there's another check ball if that check ball is not in that location you will have a problem inside your transmission probably with the torque converter clutch since that's what solenoid this is going back together your metal plate should be over the top of the solenoid but if not verify your check ball is there place the plate over the bolt holes next what you want to do once it's securely firm on the plate look for the check ball it's there I see it we're good grab the gasket that rev Max supplied it'll only go on one way so you can't mess this up take it place it over the bolts and we're going to place it over the bolt holes we're going to slide it down there's a dowel here make sure it goes over it all right taking my time everything looks good check balls there grab the Torx 25 bolt what are you going to do you're going to tighten it up how many inch pounds 55 inch pounds so I'm going to run it down all the way with my hand that way it's good and tight I'll grab my torque wrench I'll torque it down we're ready for the next step so we're almost down to our final step of getting this valve body in the truck what do we need to do we need to put the torque converter clutch solenoid that is now prepped with the new gasket onto the valve body how do we do that pick it up and gently set it down it's cut out like the size of Texas so you can't miss where it goes so it's set down what am I going to do I'm going to pick up my impact and I'm going to gently zip these bolts down not trying to break them off I'm just trying to speed things up so I'm going to do a crisscross pattern I'm going to start at the top and I'm going to barely torque it down barely start at the back torque it down torque it down torque it down you're going to torque all these down how many bolts are there one two three four five six seven eight nine there's nine bolts after you have zipped them down grab your torque wrench and actually torque them down how many times torque them once go back through torque them one more time what's the final step so we just finished up putting our torque converter clutch solenoid to the valve body and we torque it down we went through it two times 55 inch pounds is what we torqued it down ensuring that it's seated to this Billet valve body now we're not done yet on the factory valve body we remove this electrical connector you need to hook it back up to the TCC torque converter clutch solenoid when it's locked in this is what you should hear and keep in mind I'm going to press back here on the plastic piece so that way I don't crush any of the wires line up the tangs put my finger on the the back side now listen for this click we're ready for the next step we're almost down to our final step where we can install our Billet valve body into the case what I want you to do is I want you to grab your valve body grip it tight because it's got tons of oil on it flip it over and what are we going to do we are going to inspect our valve body before we put it in more specifically we're going to inspect these clutch seals Tower seals clutch seals whatever you want to call them but you need to inspect them and here's why you've got one two and we did have three why don't I have three inside there because I pulled out one it actually had a tear inside of it now take a look it's very minute but this will cause a cross leak when it causes a cross leak all this money that we just spent on this valve body is for nothing we might as well take the transmission out and get it rebuilt at this point because we just caused a big down problem we don't want to do that guys so when you have verified that all of your clutch seals are in perfectly good condition they're brand new put them in now you're ready to install the valve body into the transmission a couple pointers is this the Prindle what puts it in gear there's a little Rod that sticks out make for sure that Rod is aligned inside of here now you're ready to push it up inside the transmission the six eight millimeter bolts are now ready to be screwed inside of the Billet valve body attaching it to the case what is the torque spec 100 and inch pounds go through the six eight millimeter bolts go back to them again ensuring that this valve body is seated to the transmission you have successfully done a valve body install you see you put the pan on and fill it full of fluid along our valve body installation we will be doing one of our Billet bypasses that way we don't have the thermostat sticking heating up the transmission causing it to fail we will be going back with Mopar OEM transmission filters both the spin on and the push on and that will complete our Billet valve body installation now guys make for sure you like subscribe to YouTube channel because this 5th gen is going to be back powered by our C3 HP package we're going to be on the dyno testing this transmission and showing the client that this 68 rfe can hold up to the power [Music]
