Reversal of gender affirming care ban sparks reaction among Arkansans

In a THB update this morning, gender affirming care for trans teens is legal again. In Arkansas, a judge just ruled a first of its kind law is unconstituti. It stopped doctors from providig gender affirming hormone treatm, puberty blockers or surgeries to anyone under 18. Wake up Central's journey. Taylor joins us now with reaction from both sides. Good morning, journey. Yeah. Good morning, Karen. U.S. District Judge Jay Moody is arguing the save adolescence from experimentation. Or SAFE Act violates the rights of transgender minors, their parents and their medical providers. And new this morning we are heag from those who the law impacts directly but also lawmakers. Transgender boy Dylan Brandt and his mother Joanna Brant say this something they've been waiting o see reverse for the last two ye. Dylan even saying when he learnd of the news, he cried happy tea. But those who want the law to sy in place believe minors under te age of 18 should not be allowed to make this decision about ther gender until they are a legal a. But the branch didn't even membs of the ACLU say the decision should be left to families. Listening to the state present their case, hearing the ways in which people spoke about these kids, these human beings, was discouraging. You can't ban the scare. You can't deny trans youth equal protection of the laws. You can't deny their parents. The right to be involved in. The healthcare decisions made for their kids. Now there are two sides and many are sounding off, including Governor Sarah Huckabe Sanders who tweeted on Tuesday, quote, this is not care. It's activists pushing a political agenda at the expense of our kids and subjecting them to permanent and harmful procedures. And quote, we're also receiving reaction from Senator Tom Cottod Attorney General Tim Griffin Grn saying his office plans to appel Judge Moody's decision to the 8h Circuit if and when that happen.
