hey everyone it's mandy and today i'm going to reveal my entire investment portfolio a few important notes before we dive in as a background i'm not making this video to show off but my intention is to encourage more people especially women to take control of their finances and as you may have noticed there aren't enough women in the personal finance space especially on youtube so hopefully this inspires some type of conversation second note is that i'm not a trust fund baby my portfolio is 10 years of hard work and of making and i started off with a minimum wage job in college worked for a management training program and eventually pivoted my career into tech when i was first starting off in my career i saved over half of my paycheck each time and took lots of risk in order to get to where i am today and the final note is that i'm not a financial or investment advisor and you should always do your own research before making any investments okay with all that out of the way give this video a thumbs up and let's dive into the first investment the total value of my investment portfolio is about seven hundred thirty thousand dollars three point six of that consists of my 401k which i had for my first employer and it's just been sitting there i recently logged in and it looks like it's up 48 over the past year which i know is not normal at all the average rate of return for a 401k is usually about five to eight percent each year i'm not going to touch my 401k due to tax reasons and my investment strategy has shifted more into the private market and i'll elaborate more on that later in the video maybe i'm crazy but i feel like we've had a lot of growth over the past year in the public market and we're due for a crash or it might just remain flat speaking of the stock market about 19 of my investments are in public stocks my stock portfolio is spread out between a lot of different apps and i like testing and comparing them i also do a lot of angel investing in fintech startups so it's nice to know what's on trend and different features that are popping up on public my portfolio is worth about fifteen thousand dollars and here you can see my all-time gains on each stock so my largest holding here is on zoom next is pinterest and then it just goes down from there okay let's dive into my robinhood account so my robinhood portfolio is worth about 300 000 and this is a mix of stocks and cryptocurrencies i bought a little bit of crypto on robin hood a few years ago just because it was so easy i know it's not the best practice and i've just held on to it and it's appreciated in value so over the past month my portfolio was up fourteen percent over the past year about four thousand seven hundred percent and all time is seven hundred and three percent i do have a few options which i do plan on selling soon let's take a look at some of the total returns in my robinhood portfolio one of my largest holdings in robin hood and other brokerages is in shopify and i first started buying it in 2015 when the price was 27.87 so the reason i started investing in shopify was because at that point in time i was working at an e-commerce startup and i just saw the trends more and more merchants were bringing their stores online using shopify and i knew there was potential to grow tesla was also another one that i bought a few years ago and just held on to so i bought into tesla before the stock split so the average cost is about 56 total market value of my holdings of that today is about twenty five thousand dollars i started buying tesla because i like the direction where the company is going and if i were to ever own a vehicle it would most likely be a tesla i started buying more zoom last year because of how things were going and everything was shifting towards online square is also one of my long-term holds because i do see them growing even more with cash app and they're getting more into the cryptocurrency game on a side note if you do want to check out robinhood or public i'll leave a referral link down in the description box below and you can get a free stock with any deposit let me know if you would be interested in a deep dive of all my stock positions i also created a pie on m1 finance if you want to see some of the stocks that i'm invested in but again this is not financial advice so always do your own research about one percent of my portfolio is invested in robo advisors which also invest in etfs examples of the robo advisors would be morgan stanley and acorns one of the reasons why i have a morgan stanley robo advisor is to qualify for the morgan stanley platinum card i opened the account with five thousand dollars and it's up thirty percent this year other examples of robo advisors would be wealthfront betterment okay and that sums up all of my traditional investments the next section is going to move into alternative assets which are super high risk but if it does work out it's super high reward the main issue of alternative investments is that they're typically not insured and the value can go to zero i don't recommend venturing into any of these investments unless you're comfortable losing money about 31 percent of my portfolio is in cryptocurrencies and this was really unintended because i bought them a few years ago and these appreciated to this amount i mainly focus on bitcoin and ethereum i don't really buy many altcoins the only exception to that is dogecoin it's kind of a funny story because back in 2013 i helped host a dogecoin meetup and all of my dogecoin is still in cold storage so this is my old laptop and this is where i got the dogecoin sticker i see cryptocurrencies as a super long term hold so i just buy it and i don't even touch it although i have used robinhood to buy cryptocurrency in the past more recently i started buying using coinbase and then also moving it over to blockvi in order to earn a little bit of interest on the bitcoin if you're just starting out with crypto i recommend using something like coinbase because it's super easy to buy and sell crypto i'll leave a referral link down below where you can get 10 in free bitcoin next up in my investment portfolio are vc funds in order to invest in this asset class you do need to be an accredited investor i'm a limited partner in four different micro vc funds and each one has a different thesis micro vc funds usually handle less than 25 million dollars in assets and most of the ones i'm invested in are in the 3 to 10 million range when you invest in a venture capital fund you have absolutely no control into startups to invest in it's highly unlikely that i'll know what the fund is actually invested in until i get a quarterly update and even then some startup investments are still confidential the way i like to think about it is that investing in a vc fund is like investing in an index fund of startups the funds that i'm invested in focus on your creator economy and also remote work i know that sounds really silly to say now just because a lot of companies are moving to remote work but a year ago that was not the case luckily the remote work fund has a lot of paper returns so it's looking good so i understand that investing in a vc fund might be a foreign concept to a lot of people and there's a few reasons why i decided to do this the first reason is because unless you're ultra wealthy with millions of dollars in disposable income or your pension or a college endowment fund then you're highly unlikely to become a limited partner in one of these large institutional funds vc firms with a good track record like sequoia floodgate or even andreessen orbits usually have a minimum check size in the millions of dollars range in order to become a limited partner the minimum check size for a micro vc fund is usually 25 000 and up for reference the minimum check size in order to get into sequoia's growth fund is 250 million dollars for the non-billionaires 250 million dollars is an absurd amount of money the second reason why i invested in micro vc funds is to get exposure into startups i normally would not even consider youtube is not my full-time job and i'm also not a full-time investor so i don't have time to sift through a hundred plus startups each month the other advantage is that fund managers can usually secure allocation because they write larger check sizes into startups versus as me as an individual angel who typically writes smaller check sizes and the third reason why i invest in micro vc funds is for a deal flow if a fund manager sees a startup and they think i can add value to them they can introduce me deal flow does go both ways so fund managers usually rely on their limited partners in order to recommend startups and vice versa speaking of deal flow about 21 of my investment portfolio is in angel investments directly into startups this is definitely not for everyone since most startups do fail i really enjoy working with founders and i like building things from the ground up and i have a lot of unique insights when it comes to the creator economy and fintech for most startup investments you do need to be an accredited investor unless you have really good deal flow it's hard to find good quality startups to invest in most startup deals are kept private since it's not my decision to announce if a startup has raised money or not for non-accredited investors the investment landscape is changing and equity crowdfunding platforms like republic are creating access to everyone the great thing about equity crowdfunding is that anyone can invest as little as a hundred dollars into a startup in the past 12 months i've invested in five different startups on republic so i invested in drink monday which is a non-alcoholic startup gum road which is focused on helping creators make money backstage capital really changed the game when they put their campaign on republic because it lets normal people have exposure to vc this one is a startup about cohort based courses and this one is on the trucking industry investing in startups and venture capital in general is a very opaque industry and sebastian and i are planning on shedding some light on that on our second channel creator capitalist generally people usually recommend having less than 10 of your whole portfolio invested in startups and vc but i'm comfortable with having more than that just because i live and breathe in this space i do realize that most of these investments can be worth nothing if the startup fails and i'm okay with that we'll find out in 10 years or less if i'm any good at investing in startups but even looking at my stock portfolio most of it is in tech and growth startups moving on the last part of my portfolio consists of collectibles collectibles range from physical cards like this psa9 staru card to investment apps one of the apps that i use for collectibles is otis and my portfolio value on here is about thirty four hundred dollars and it ranges from a couple of shares of art shoes sports cards and pokemon cards let me know in the comments down below if you want me to compare some of the collectible apps i also do own a few pieces of physical art like the finch bear in the background so i bought the finch fair print for about 162 dollars and it's really special piece because it's for the san francisco ballet i have no intentions of flipping it at all but if we do check on ebay it looks like it's going for about 350 dollars and lastly i have about 13 in cash just in case there's an emergency or if any investment opportunities arise i do understand that my investment portfolio is very non-traditional and i'm overexposed in the alternative asset area and tech but that's my expertise and that's what i'm going with if you liked the video give it a thumbs up it really helps us out and if you know anyone who will find this video useful feel free to share with them see you in the next one are you bragging about your million dose coin i don't have a million dogecoin i actually have no clue how much the dogecoin on this laptop is worth we should probably take it off the laptop to the moon i don't have a million dogecoin
