particular video I'm going to talk about retiring in Greenville South Carolina I'm going to give you my top five reasons why retire e are choosing here to move also stay tuned to the end of this video and I'm going to let you know of a 55 plus Community coming to Greenville in 2025 we have seen nothing like this in the area you don't want to miss it now I am Mark Rucker and I am your hometown say is congratulations you've made it and you may want to seriously think about moving to our awesome area so here are my top five reasons that people are moving to the Greenville area to retire now these are coming straight from the people moving here y'all so here we go reason number one cost of living and affordability so Greenville is consistently 10 to 12% lower than the national average as far as affordability now one of those main reasons is the homestead exemption if you're over 65 years old you have reduced property taxes here it's an enormous difference versus everyone else also in South Carolina if you are over the age of 62 your Social Security benefits are not taxed now real estate real estate is very affordable in the Greenville South Carolina area now later in this video I'm going to discuss some of the wonderful maintenance-free communities we have in the area but overall the average sales uh sales price in Greenville in May of 2024 when I'm cut in this video is 367,000 you will be pleasantly surprised what you can get bang for your buck here it's awesome and if you prefer new construction over 40% of our active inventory in Greenville is new construction now that combines the 2B Built Homes um also the under construction homes as well as the move and ready homes now there are numerous of Builders to choose from from your track home builders to your semic custom Builders to your um straight up custom home builders from ground up and lastly gas prices so South Carolina is always in the bottom eight or nine states as far as cheapest gas prices in the US and of course we love that that um all right so number two reason retirees move here Health Care System our two main Health Care Systems are Prisma Healthcare and bond seor now first Prisma so Prisma health Greenville Memorial Hospital is the Region's Premier um Hospital in the upstate of South Carolina it's home to a 24-hour level one trauma center the upstate sole Pediatric trauma center and the Region's only solid organ transplant center now throughout all chases there are 864 licensed beds other services include a Cancer Institute a bone marrow transplate Center a cardiac and Vascular care a children's hospital a comprehensive stroke center and multiple critical and complex emergency cares there's also a home health and a senior care center now for the behavioral health they have Marshall Pickins hospital and lastly Roger peace rehab hospital now some of the recognitions and designations include top 100 in America for best fertility clinics a superior performance for home health and the Gold Plus achievement for stroke care and stellar heart failure practices now Prisma help is a nonprofit Health company and it's the largest Health Care system in South Carolina and to name some of the campuses you have the downtown campus which is on Grove Road the patwood location which is right off of I 385 and then Prisma healthc care location on the east side Hill Crest Hospital which is on the South Side in Simpsonville South Carolina now to Bon Sor which is St Francis there is a downtown location and an easts side Greenville location the downtown location includes 245 beds hospital and the St Francis Outpatient Center there's also Emergency Services uh Heart Care art surgery orthopedic surgery spine neurosurgery Radiology so much more y'all the East Side location which is formerly named St Francis women and Family Hospital includes 93 hospital bed and two Medical Offices now bons sour is rated as a high performing in nine adult procedures and conditions that's good stuff okay number three reason our retirees move here the weather if you know anything about South Carolina you know weather brings people here especially in Greenville now Greenville is unlike all of the coastal regions of South Carol a Greenville is much milder than the coast places such as Myrtle Beach or Charleston or even Hilton Head you typically can get yearr outside activities in Greenville so Lowe's in the winter are around the 30s upper 20s the highs in the winter are 50s and 60s during the summertime the average high is 88° and the lows are in the 70s now it does get humid and a bit stick sticky in the summer but overall not as bad as most parts of South Carolina now today which is May 1st 2024 it is 75 and sunny outside with a nice breeze incredible weather the forecast the rest of the week upper 70s low 80s and sunny so awesome just a beautiful week now most community pools will be open during May and you can swim all the way till September uh spring and fall are absolutely gorgeous in this area especially the fall so y'all hear fall and football are King if you move to Greenville the first question you're going to ask who you going to pull for Clemson or South Carolina the Clemson Tigers or the South Carolina Gamecocks I'll give you a wink on who you probably we should choose so um one of the first questions you get again will be who you going to pull for okay Falls here in the area are in the 60s and 70s just ideal outside now I've lived here all of my life and I'm 46 years old and I have yet to see a major disaster in the area we don't have earthquakes we don't have tsunamis we don't have Avalanches we don't have wildfires because of crazy crazy long droughts on a rare occasion we'll have a passing tornado um we don't have hurricanes we'll only get the rain from the rare hurricane that hits the South Carolina coast we don't have blizzards we don't have snowstorms if anything the worst we get here are the occasional uh SLE and ice storm or uh the flooding from um the the conditions from the rains that that do come from those uh hurricanes on the coast that's it very safe place to live and the weather is very predictable which is nice okay number four reason that retirees choose Greenville outdoor activity actually the number one reason baby boomers are moving to the area they are chasing their grandkids and there's no better place to chase grandkids than Greenville South Carolina there are so many activities you can do year round in the area you can take the grandkids to the world renown falls park or the newly constructed Unity Park I take you stroll through the beautiful Main Street of Greenville check out all the shops restaurants catch a baseball game at the Greenville Drive Stadium y'all this is a replica of finway park has the green monster and everything it's awesome take a walk jog or bike down the 22m Swamp Rabbit Trail that actually follows the Rita River uh if you enjoy Lakes no shortage of lakes in the area you have Lake Robinson and Greer for more your relaxation Lake Hartwell which is on the border of South Carolina and Georgia for your boating and your fishing the Bass Masters classic routinely comes here um you have Lake kioi which is gorgeous for your expensive uh real estate and water sports and then my favorite Lake Joe Cassie for the mountain views pristine Lake chasing waterfalls of what a great weekend that is on Lake J Castle now if you hike Greenville is on the foothills of the mountains you can find any kind of hike you can imagine within an hour and hour and a half Mountain views waterfalls Rivers strenuous hikes easy hikes you have everything so Paris Mountain State Park is just 10 minutes from downtown Greenville in one of three state parks actually in Greenville County um so so Paris Mountain has four lakes a swimming area playground Area 15 mies of hiking and biking trails now as you head more North you'll find Jones Gap State Park and Caesar's head state park now if you're looking more for activity and Adventure look no further than Treetop quest which has over 60 outdoor obstacles and zip lines it's really cool and lastly if you like to drink beer and just hang out look no further than green be Greenville has challenged Asheville North Carolina as one of the top Brewery destinations in the US there are over 20 breweries in Greenville a lots of areas just to hang out watch the grandkids play um you could go I could go on and on about outdoor activities in the area so um I can do an entire separate video on that probably will soon so be looking out for that okay number five reason retirees move here to Greenville there are a lots of maintenance free communities now since we have so many retirees moving to the area Greenville actually has really stepped up their game with maintenance free movement I'm going to name a few of the favorite communities in a different uh different sets of price ranges different areas of Greenville all of these communities actually have a lawn maintenance handled Landscaping Maintenance handled uh they have different varieties of amenities that all go through now the first one is uh the Ravens at Creekside which is located right off of Highway 14 in Simpsonville superb location very affordable it's in the 300s and 400s they're all one level they contain a clubhouse a pool exercise facility uh wonderful Community a next Community is called pxton Meadows in Greer South Carolina these are more in the fours and 500s this community offers a community center and has a very very convenient location as far as part of Greer and all the maintenance the communities handled for you now this is a restricted age community so it's 55 and plus um the it's one of a kind right now it's a really really cool Community now these are all less than 5 years old now if you want to get closer to Greenville you need to check out swne gate now this is an older community these were built more than 30 years ago now these prices have really wide range from the 200s to the 400s now this is a very sought after Community because of the great amenities such as a clubhouse um a pool it's a gated community there are tennis courts uh there's a neighborhood Lake this also is a 55 plus Community now if you really want to step it up you need to go check out the Brownstones at Hollingsworth Park Hollingsworth Park overlooks the wonderful Legacy Park actually Legacy Park connects to the Swamp Rabbit Trail in Greenville this community is luxury at its finest it's got a wonderful contemporary Southern appeal now these town homes are about 3,000 sare ft or so now they do sell over a million but they are app absolutely topnotch okay now back to what I was referring to at the beginning of the video I want to talk about a Brand New Concept coming to Greenville we have nothing like this y'all it's going to be huge we have our first Dell web Community coming to the heart of Greenville if you don't know much about Dell web communities you will soon uh they're mainly located uh in the Southeast primarily in Florida and on the South Carolina coasts but anyhow delale web Greenville is going to be a 55 plus Community they're going to have pickle ball courts which everybody loves right now bot ball courts outdoor swimming pool Scenic River walks and check this out a 9,000 square ft Clubhouse that's going to have a fitness studio Ballroom EV event space going to be incredible this is going to be a 209 acre Community with 434 single family homes your choice between 1,300 ft and 2200 ft for plants all one level but actually you can get a um second level option Sun RS are optional um the first community sales here will be in Spring of 2025 so be on
