story from abide I'm James and I'm so glad you're joining me for this peaceful meditation title pure wisdom there once was a man who was known as the wisest man in the world he had not acquired this wisdom on his own but had asked for it and received it in humility and Grace the man's name was Solomon and he had asked the Lord for something that no man had ever asked for he said to God give me an understanding heart so that I can govern your people well and know the difference between right and wrong purity of Solomon's request was pleasing in God's sight instead of wealth notoriety or personal gain Solomon desired wisdom so that he could fulfill God's calling on his life not many of us would say that all we want is the wisdom of God if we're completely honest we ask the Lord for all kinds of things we pray for safety guidance provision and blessing yet many times we forget to pray for wisdom we forget Proverbs Chapter 2 Verse 6 which says for the Lord gives wisdom from his mouth come knowledge and understanding let this passage seep into your heart tonight for the Lord gives wisdom and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding from the Lord we gain wisdom wisdom that is first of all pure this isn't the wisdom of man or of this world but Heavenly wisdom that will never lead us astray [Music] rest deeply in the wisdom from above pure wisdom that has no fault please pray with me Heavenly Father turn our minds and our hearts toward the purity of your wisdom we turn our thoughts to whatever is lovely and pure Noble and true we turn our Focus to you please be with this beloved listener tonight as they seek you and find peace and rest help them release all other thoughts or concerns and find true rest in your presence thank you for leading Us in this beautiful meditation tonight a meditation focused on wisdom from above in the name of Jesus we pray amen after Solomon asked God for wisdom the Lord was so pleased he answered him with these words since you have asked for this and not for long life or wealth for yourself nor have asked for the death of your enemies but for discernment in administering Justice I will do what you have asked I will give you a wise and Discerning heart so that there will never have been anyone like you nor will there ever be moreover I will give you what you have not asked for both wealth and honor so that in your lifetime you will have no equal among Kings and if you walk in obedience to me and keep my decrees and commands as David your father did I will give you a long life [Music] the beautiful blessings God bestowed on Solomon were additional blessings unexpected and undeserved the Lord wanted to Lavish Solomon with even more than what he'd asked for this was because Solomon's request was pure righteous and selfless foreign 's example be of great encouragement to you tonight as you seek the Lord's favor and turn your heart toward honoring him all things allow your heart to seek God's glory my loving him with all your heart mind and soul [Music] this is a faithful mission for all of us to seek to live our lives in wholehearted Devotion to God is our ultimate purpose continue to rest peacefully as I pray again over you gracious God I pray for this precious listener tonight that they will seek Your Divine favor by committing their lives and their purpose to your glory Lord the Old Testament Purity was often associated with being morally clean Purity is connected to holiness a right way of thinking behaving and living of course we know from experience that living purely isn't always easy our flesh lives in opposition to purity and it is only by the strength of the holy spirit in us that we can abide in the pure wisdom that comes from God Matthew chapter 5 verse 8 says blessed are the pureed heart for they shall see God let's pause in the truth of Jesus words for a few moments blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God the Greek word for Pure In this passage is catharos which means clean pure and clear water cascading from The Mountaintop into the valley crisp clean and clear symbolizes the washing away of what doesn't belong in Jesus we are washed pure and clean by his blood through him our hearts are purified foreign let the washing of God's holiness Cascade over you tonight as a holy anointing allow the Holy Spirit to cover you with peace how good it is to be in the presence of God knowing he is with us and loves us with a steadfast love dear one he is with you tonight in the name of his son Jesus by the presence of the Holy Spirit he is with you for when we draw near to him he draws near to us feel his peace as you start to fall asleep let his Holiness surround you like a warm blanket allow the magnitude of his love to settle over your heart mind and soul in him there is perfect peace Heavenly Father thank you for being with us it is your presence we seek in the name of your son Jesus we find peace and contentment there is no place we'd rather be than in your presence [Music] Lord like the pure Waters of a mountain stream cascading down into a peaceful Valley we ask for your spirit to flow over us washing away what doesn't belong [Music] every worry stress or concern is washed away in your presence and in you we find peace thank you God for revealing pure wisdom to us the wisdom that is from above help us to seek your wisdom in all things that we might live our lives in Holiness Justice and purity we pray these things in Jesus holy name amen as King Solomon continued his walk with the Lord many people came to him seeking wisdom and advice First Kings chapter 3 verse 28 says and all Israel heard of the Judgment that the king had rendered and they stood in awe of the king because they perceived that the wisdom of God was in him to do justice [Music] people saw that God's wisdom wasn't Solomon by his words his actions and his decisions it was clear that he was walking in the wisdom from above as followers of Christ when we walk in God's wisdom it is clear to those around us that our lives represent wisdom that is first of all pure there's an encouraging passage in Philippians chapter 2 that says if there is any encouragement in Christ any comfort from Love any participation in the spirit any affection and sympathy complete my Joy by being of the same mind having the Same Love being in full Accord and of one mind do nothing from rivalry or conceit but in humility count others more significant than yourselves Let each of you look not only to his own interests but also to the interests of others have this mind among yourselves which is yours in Christ Jesus rest in the encouragement of Christ daily he speaks words of affirmation and Truth over you be comforted by his love a love so great that he went to the cross for you walk in the Holy Spirit participating in everything that is good and holy let him Lead You In the way along the Narrow Path away from worldly Pursuits be of the same mind as Christ who said blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God imagine seeing the Lord For the First Time face to face what a day that will be as you hear the words well done good and faithful servant you will know that everything you went through was worth it the journey was long but eternity with your savior is your very great reward let the imagery of Heaven lull like the sand on the seashore allow God to expand your wisdom and understanding of what is good holy and just our father loves to give good gifts to his children and he is faithful to give us wisdom when we ask let's ask for God's wisdom tonight Lord God we lay down all thoughts of Personal Achievement personal gain and personal knowledge we ask for your Divine wisdom tonight your word says that when we ask we must ask in faith without doubting that we might receive the wisdom you give without partiality thank you Lord we ask these things in faith in our homes in our families in our churches and in our work we ask for your wisdom and guidance show us what it means to be pure in our thoughts actions habits and relationships by the still small voice of your spirit whisper truth to us and say this is the way walk it we seek you tonight Lord knowing that when we draw near to you you draw near to us thank you for imparting wisdom to us wisdom that is first of all pure this is what we need most in the decisions we face in the plans we make and in the things we pursue in all things in all ways in Jesus name we ask for wisdom tonight Colossians 3 verses 1 through 4 say this if then you have been raised with Christ seek the things that are above where Christ is seated at the right hand of God set your minds on things that are above not on things that are on Earth for you have died and your life is hidden with Christ and God when Christ who is your life appears then you also will appear with him in glory you have been raised with Christ the moment you confessed him as Lord of your life as Savior of all [Music] therefore you seek the things that are above where Christ is seated at the right hand of God this is where wisdom dwells and he is faithful to give you the purity of his wisdom when you ask set your mind on things above not on Earth set your heart on Jesus and let him Lead You In the way as James chapter 3 verse 17 says but the wisdom that is from above is first pure then Peaceable gentle willing to yield find comfort and hope in the Peaceable gentle pure wisdom of God tonight dream of King Solomon's anointing blessed by God in every way rest securely Isaiah chapter 61 verse 3 says but still want them a crown of beauty instead of Ashes the oil of Joy instead of mourning and a Garment of Praise instead of a spirit of despair they will be called Oaks of righteousness a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor [Music] dear one please let this imagery settle peacefully over you tonight let go of anything that tries to steal your peace needed go ahead and take care of it now as you settle into bed adjust the pillow and pull the covers over you make yourself as comfortable as possible and allow your whole body to relax take a slow deep breath in hold it for in just a second then exhale if you feel tension in your forehead relax those muscles now loosen your jaw and unclench your teeth let your neck and shoulders release all the stress they're holding continue to unwind and relax your whole body from head to toe breathe softly in and out [Music] you've made it through another day and now it is time to sleep there's no reason to replay the day's events in your mind everything can wait until tomorrow now is the time to turn your thoughts to the Lord and his word seek him tonight beyond the stress and concerns of life seek him the Bible assures us that when we look for him he will be found let this comforting truth be revealed in your heart tonight he will be found you don't have to wonder if God is far off or unconcerned about you he draws near to you when you draw near to him he is concerned about every hair on your head for he loves you with a pure and holy love that can never be shaken beloved you are his you are the apple of his eye as the psalmist prayed keep me as the apple of your eye hide me in the shadow of your wings let this be the petition of your heart tonight Lord keep me as the apple of your eye hide me in the shadow of your wings rests securely in the loving protection of the father as he watches over you and your household he is faithful to protect you as you sleep Heavenly Father child as they Seek You please watch over them as they let go of all the day's anxiety and find perfect peace in you Lord bless and keep this child as they hear about the purity of your wisdom the wisdom that surpasses all knowledge and understanding please give them a desire to pursue wisdom at all cost knowing that it is by Heavenly wisdom they learn to fear you honor you and glorify you thank you Lord for your faithfulness we are undeserving yet you are true to your promises we thank you for this time to rest and sleep after a long day in the precious name of your son Jesus we pray please continue to rest quietly as our sleep story pure wisdom begins it is a story of Peace comfort and joy and I am grateful to be on this journey with you there once was a man who was known as the wisest man in the world he had not acquired this wisdom on his own but had asked for it and received it in humility and Grace the man's name was Solomon and he had asked the Lord for something that no man had ever asked for he said to God give me an understanding heart so that I can govern your people well and know the difference between right and wrong the purity of Solomon's request was pleasing in God's sight instead of wealth notoriety or personal gain Solomon desired wisdom so that he could fulfill God's calling on his life not many of us would say that all we want is the wisdom of God if we're completely honest we ask the Lord for all kinds of things we pray for safety guidance provision and blessing yet many times we forget to pray for wisdom [Music] we forget Proverbs Chapter 2 Verse 6 which says for the Lord gives wisdom from his mouth come knowledge and understanding let this passage seep into your heart tonight for the Lord gives wisdom and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding foreign wisdom wisdom that is first of all pure this isn't the wisdom of man or of this world but Heavenly wisdom that will never lead us astray rest deeply in the wisdom from above pure wisdom that has no fault please pray with me Heavenly Father we turn our minds and our hearts toward the purity of your wisdom we turn our thoughts to whatever is lovely and pure Noble and true we turn our Focus to you please be with this beloved listener tonight as they seek you and find peace and rest help them release all other thoughts or concerns and find true rest in your presence thank you for leading Us in this beautiful meditation tonight a meditation focused on wisdom from above in the name of Jesus we pray amen after Solomon asked God for wisdom the Lord was so pleased he answered him with these words since you have asked for this and not for long life or wealth for yourself nor have asked for the death of your enemies but for discernment in administering Justice I will do what you have asked I will give you a wise and Discerning heart so that there will never have been anyone like you nor will there ever be moreover I will give you what you have not asked for both wealth and honor so that in your lifetime you will have no equal among Kings and if you walk in obedience to me and keep my decrees and commands as David your father did I will give you a long life the beautiful blessings God bestowed on Solomon were additional blessings unexpected and undeserved the Lord wanted to Lavish Solomon with even more than what he'd asked for this was because Solomon's request was pure righteous and selfless foreign 's example be of great encouragement to you tonight as you seek the Lord's favor and turn your heart toward honoring him in all things allow your heart to seek God's glory my loving him with all your heart mind and soul this is a faithful mission for all of us to seek to live our lives in wholehearted Devotion to God is our ultimate purpose [Music] continue to rest peacefully as I pray again over you gracious God I pray for this precious listener tonight that they will seek Your Divine favor by committing their lives and their purpose to your glory Lord lead this person to Crave your wisdom realizing it is worth far more than any knowledge this Earth has to offer in the name of your son Jesus I pray for Purity and peace in then Peaceable gentle willing to yield full of mercy and good fruits without partiality and without hypocrisy listen carefully to the beginning of that verse the wisdom that is from above is first pure in the Old Testament Purity was often associated with being morally clean Purity is connected to holiness a right way of thinking behaving and living of course we know from experience that living purely isn't always easy our flesh lives in opposition to purity and it is only by the strength of the holy spirit in us that we can abide in the pure wisdom that comes from God Matthew chapter 5 verse 8 says blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God let's pause in the truth of Jesus words for a few moments blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God the Greek word for Pure In this passage is catharos which means clean pure and clear water cascading from The Mountaintop into the valley crisp clean and clear symbolizes the washing away of what doesn't belong in Jesus we are washed pure and clean by his blood through him our hearts are purified let the washing of God's holiness Cascade over you tonight as a holy anointing allow the Holy Spirit to cover you with peace how good it is to be in the presence of God knowing he is with us and loves us with a steadfast love dear one he is with you tonight in the name of his son Jesus by the presence of the Holy Spirit he is with you for when we draw near to him he draws near to us feel his peace as you start to fall asleep let his Holiness surround you like a warm blanket allow the magnitude of his love to settle over your heart mind and soul in him there is perfect peace Heavenly Father thank you for being with us it is your presence we seek in the name of your son Jesus we find peace and contentment there is no place we'd rather be than in your presence Lord like the pure Waters of a mountain stream cascading down into a peaceful Valley we ask for your spirit to flow over us washing away what doesn't belong every worry stress or concern is washed away in your presence and in you we find peace thank you God for revealing pure wisdom to us the wisdom that is from above help us to seek your wisdom in all mind among yourselves which is yours in Christ Jesus rest in the encouragement of Christ daily he speaks words of affirmation and Truth over you be comforted by his love a love so great that he went to the cross for you walk in the Holy Spirit participating in everything that is good and holy let him Lead You In the way along the narrow path away from worldly Pursuits be of the same mind as tonight Lord God we lay down all thoughts of Personal Achievement personal gain and personal knowledge we ask for your Divine wisdom tonight [Music] your word says that when we ask we must ask in faith without doubting that we might receive the wisdom you give without partiality thank you Lord we ask these things in faith in our homes in our families in our churches and in our work we ask for your wisdom and guidance foreign s to be pure in our thoughts actions habits and relationships by the still small voice of your spirit whispered truth to us and say this is the way walk in it [Music] we seek you tonight Lord knowing that when we draw near to you you draw near to us thank you for imparting wisdom to us wisdom that is first of all pure this is what we need most in the decisions we face and the plans we make and in the things we pursue in all things in all ways in Jesus name we ask for wisdom tonight [Music] Colossians 3 verses 1 through 4 say this if then you have been raised with Christ seek the things that are above where Christ is seated at the right hand of God set your minds on things that are above not on things that are on Earth for you have died and your life is hidden with Christ and God when Christ who is your life appears then you also will appear with him in glory you have been raised with Christ the moment you confessed him as Lord of your life as Savior of all therefore you seek the things that are above where Christ is seated at the right hand of God this is where wisdom dwells and he is faithful to give you the purity of his wisdom when you ask set your mind on things above not on Earth set your heart on Jesus and let him Lead You In the way gracious God worthy of all our praise we close this sleep story with the fervent prayer tonight we pray heavens and the Earth is the one who loves them and saves them the one who lifts them up when they are weak and gives them strength to soar On Eagle's Wings these words from God to the prophet Isaiah came at a time when God's people had learned that their City Jerusalem was going to fall to Invaders they were going to lose their home and become exiles God knows what his people need to hear in a Moment Like This they need comfort and not just easy words or platitudes true bone deep comfort these words from God to the prophet Isaiah are for you too if you feel tired wary of trying and failing worried or confused if you've lost something precious if you're wondering what's going to happen next these words of peace and promise are for you in tonight's bedtime story we'll soar On Eagle's and strengthen this child as they listen to your words from the book of the prophet Isaiah may they fall asleep nourished by your presence and Promises with your word planted like a seed inside them growing in the darkness and bearing much fruit may your words guide their dreams into places of peace and restoration may they soar On Eagle's Wings to you finding strength in your strength and hope in your promises we love you and we trust you and we ask all things in the name of the father Son and Holy Spirit amen in tonight's sleep story we will soar into the air far above the ground and see what we can see from the Heights Guided by the words of the prophet Isaiah we will get some perspective on our own problems and find comfort in a God who promises to give us strength and Hope Isaiah had a word from God for the people of Israel chapter 40 of the book of the prophet Isaiah marks a dark moment in Israel's history they had just learned that they would lose their Homeland and become exiles separated from the land God had given them and from the temple where they worshiped what would they do in this difficult moment Isaiah brings a word of comfort from God [Music] listen to the words of Isaiah have you never heard have you never understood the Lord is the Everlasting God the creator of all the Earth he never grows weak or weary no one can measure the depths of his understanding he gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless even youths will become weak and tired and young men will fall in exhaustion but those who trust in the Lord will find new Strength they will soar high on wings like eagles they will run and not grow weary they will walk and not faint God may this child be carried On Eagle's Wings tonight finding new Strength nourished by cloud into a Dusky sky cushioned on all sides by the faintest breath of air you see the sun beginning to set in the distance the colors are a blaze of Rose magenta Violet deep purple and burnt orange below a deepening Azure blue and the beauty calms you you feel the first Cool Breeze of evening crush your skin you smell the soft scent of honeysuckle wafting Up From Below and you hear crickets and cicadas chirping in the distance as you are lifted higher you find that your worries are growing smaller you're leaving them behind below you on Earth and finally they disappear in the distance impossible to see anymore instead your eyes are drawn to the increasingly vibrant Sunset over distant mountain peaks drawn in a smudge of charcoal and white against the Dusky sky in the distance you see the first star appearing from here You Can See For Miles the air is temperate and it cradles you somewhere above the trees and below the clouds as you survey the world around you you see Lush Green Hills rolling towards steeper mountains which are stunning in Beauty and covered with snow at the tops you see a road twisting over these Hills and Valleys and cutting in switchbacks over the sides of the mountains it's a long road winding and steep may you see a man walking on that long Lonely Road then you hear a voice Comfort Comfort my people says your God speak tenderly to Jerusalem tell her that her sad days are gone and her sins are pardoned yes the Lord has punished her twice over for all her sins you hear another voice this one's shouting clear the way through the Wilderness for the Lord make a straight highway through the Wasteland for our God [Music] as you watch the road below you is raised and straightened its sinuous path becoming taut and direct the valleys are filled in raised up while the mountains and hills are leveled lowered to meet the valley the rough places become smooth the road below you is straight and sure easy to walk and it begins to shine gloriously Stone path when the sun strikes it just after a light rain and you realize that man walking on the lonely road is the Lord and the Lord is coming to save his people pray with me God when we look for you we see that you are coming you are on the way to save us even now you created all that is and you sustain it in every moment by your love thank you that even as your child is resting tonight you are holding them in your love in every moment thank you for coming with comfort and for making a way where there seems to be no way all creation bends at your command all creation Rises up to meet you to make a way for you to praise you thank you God you watch the road as the man walks down it you know now that the Lord is coming he never grows weary he never grows weak as you look closer you see that the road has led him to a lamb the lamb noses his leg and bleets pitifully he gently picks up the lamb and places it over his shoulders speaking quietly and reassuring the creature at every move you can see The Tender Love in the way he moves as he continues to walk a flock of sheep follow him bleeding happily and frolicking in the green grass along the path they walk toward the sunset together Isaiah says he will feed his flock Like a Shepherd He will carry the lamb in his arms holding them close to his heart he will gently lead the mother's sheep with their young his gentleness strengthens the flock they don't grow weary either and you you've been soaring through the air watching them and your body feels strong and capable as if you too are being carried and cared for by this strong Shepherd [Music] his strength gives you strength to go on [Music] pray with me god good shepherd we are grateful for the tender compassionate way you care for us you carry us and we trust in your strength and wisdom and know that we have nothing to fear when we are following you along the path you have chosen thank you for being our strong Shepherd thank you for your tenderness we love you God in the distance you see the ocean sparkling reflecting the twinkling light of the stars as they come out one by one and the glow of the full moon the waves roll steadily toward the shore crashing with dignity and might against the cool white sand their steady Rhythm calms you you listen to the sound of the water moving as you soar further over the ocean you see a dolphin leaping with joy from the waters and then a whole pod of dolphins perfect synchronized jumps you hear their happy calls and smell the Tangy smell of salt water dipping closer you feel the light spray of the tide on your skin the ocean is vast and unsearchable jellyfish and stingrays sharks and electric eels puffer fish and sea lions coral and caves more than we can know or name and yet God has held the oceans in his hand all of this beauty was made by God the Everlasting God the creator of all the Earth the one who loves and cares about you who restores and heals you who picks you up when you fall who gives you strength when you're weak who makes you sore return again to your breath just let it move in and out remember the words of promise inhaling those who trust in the Lord and exhaling we'll find new strengths inhaling those who trust in the Lord and exhaling we'll find new Strength rest here and let your breath do its work you look up into the heavens who created all the stars God brings them out like an army one after another calling each by its name because of his great power and incomparable strength not a single one is missing and this great God knows every thought in your mind numbers every hair on your head he sees your troubles and he cares for you too the star-filled sky goes on forever and yet God has measured off the heavens with his fingers the Earth is marked with mountains and Hills and yet God knows their weight knows every Pebble and flower every chirping bird every cautious deer every slumbering bear every butterfly in chrysalis God knows it all God's wisdom is unsearchable this God is holding you in his hands too you have nothing to fear as you soar higher again you see the nation spread out below you all the peoples of the Earth some praise God with you others are looking for Hope in all the wrong places making Idols in their own image and worshiping worthless things you want to call out to them in the words of the prophet Isaiah and say to whom can you compare God what image can you find to resemble him can he be compared to an idol formed in a mold overlaid with gold and decorated with silver chains or if people are too poor for that they might at least choose wood that won't Decay and a skilled Craftsman to carve an image that won't fall down haven't you heard don't you understand are you deaf to the words of God the words he gave before the world began are you so ignorant God sits above the circle of the Earth the people below seem like grasshoppers to him he spreads out the heavens like a curtain and makes his tent from them you know that one day all people will bow before this Great and Mighty God and sing his praises you want to call to them now to invite them into the life of joy that God offers the Great and Mighty God who sits enthroned above the heavens cares for us you want to say he loves us you want to say have you never heard have you never understood the Lord is the Everlasting God the creator of all the Earth he never grows weak or weary no one can measure the depths of his understanding he gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless even youths will become weak and tired and young men will fall on exhaustion but those who trust in the Lord will find new Strength they will sword high on wings like eagles they will run and not grow weary walk and not faint [Music] God's Grace has done this for you God's Grace has given you new strength and taken away your weariness God's Grace has restored you you can walk with God Forever Without growing weary once again allow your breath to Simply move in and out sustaining you let your breath become a prayer breathing in those who trust in the Lord and breathing out will find new Strength inhaling those who trust in the Lord and exhaling will find new Strength rest here in that promise as you breathe the moon has fully risen now in its soft light you can still see the shepherd walking the way God has made carrying the Lamb on his back the ocean Sparkles gently in the distance the mountains are invisible now sun has said the sky is a deep Navy set with sparkling Stars and the faintest chill is in the air it's time for all you can see to sleep God Alone watches over creation it's time for you to sleep too the soft air that's cradled you on this journey shifts beneath you and you realize you're nestled in feathers soft white feathers on the back of an enormous Majestic eagle he's carrying you you feel the warmth from his body under you relax he's slowly slowly swooping down bringing you closer to your bed closer to the deep rest you need you're not worried here or there sleep will find you you've never felt this safe before the words of Isaiah echo in your mind and heart again have you never heard have you never understood the Lord is the Everlasting God the creator of all the Earth he never grows weak or weary no one can measure the depths of his understanding he gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless even youths will become weak and tired and young men will fall in exhaustion foreign but those who trust in the Lord will find new Strength they will soar high on wings like eagles they will run and not grow weary they will walk and not faint and once again you let those words enter with your breath inhaling those who trust in the Lord and exhaling we'll find new Strength this is your hope your confident belief your promise from God breathing in those who trust in the Lord and breathing out will find new Strength just rest here and let your breath do its work an owl hoots in the distance see the dim glow of a lamp inside your home as your Eagle brings you near the scent of pine leaves fills your nostrils there's a hint of wood smoke in the air too your home will be warm and dark quiet tonight's Journey has ended but God's promise never does his mercies are new every morning great is his faithfulness as you drift off to sleep in your own bed you sense the shepherd still walking still making that way in the dark you sensed the eagle ready to carry you when you're tired you sense God with you now and to the very end in this safe space you drift into sleep let me pray for you God of Wonders thank you for lifting this child of yours Up On Eagle's Wings thank you for restoring their strength thank you for revealing yourself to them help them now to rest peacefully to Define our purity Jesus defines our Purity By uncovering Us in garments of praise as Isaiah chapter 61 verse 3 says was still on them a crown of beauty instead of Ashes the oil of Joy instead of mourning and a Garment of Praise instead of a spirit of despair they will be called Oaks of righteousness a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor dear one please let this imagery settle peacefully over you tonight let go of anything that tries to steal your peace and Purity in Christ the pure Waters of his love and forgiveness flow gently washing away all of your cares and concerns tonight our sleep story will focus on Purity in the form of wisdom wisdom from above this is a Heavenly wisdom described in James chapter 3 verse 17. but the wisdom that is from above is first pure window maybe you need to silence something that is making noise whatever is needed go ahead and take care of it now as you settle into bed adjust the pillow and pull the covers over you make yourself as comfortable as possible and allow your whole body to relax take a slow deep breath in hold it for in just a second then exhale if you feel tension in your forehead relax those muscles now loosen your jaw and unclench your teeth [Music] let your neck and shoulders release all the stress they're holding continue to unwind and relax your whole body from head to toe breathe softly in and out you've made it through another day and now it is time to sleep there's no reason to replay the day's events in your mind everything can wait until tomorrow now is the time to turn your thoughts to the Lord and his word seek him tonight beyond the stress and concerns of life seek him the Bible assures us that when we look for him he will be found let this comforting truth be revealed in your heart something that no man had ever asked for he said to God give me an understanding heart so that I can govern your people well and know the difference between right and wrong the purity of Solomon's request was pleasing in God's sight instead of wealth notoriety or personal gain Solomon desired wisdom so that he could fulfill God's calling on his life not many of us would say that all we want is the wisdom of God if we're completely honest we ask the Lord for all kinds of things we pray for safety guidance provision and blessing yet many times we forget to pray for wisdom we forget Proverbs Chapter 2 Verse 6 which says for the Lord gives wisdom from his mouth come knowledge and understanding let this passage seep into your heart tonight for the Lord gives wisdom and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding from the Lord we gain wisdom wisdom that is first of all pure this isn't the wisdom of man or of this world but Heavenly wisdom that will never lead us astray rest deeply the wisdom that is from above is first pure [Music] in the Old Testament Purity was often associated with being morally clean Purity is connected to holiness a right way of thinking behaving and living of course we know from experience that living purely isn't always easy our flesh lives in opposition to purity and it is only by the strength of the holy spirit in us that we can abide in the pure wisdom that comes from God Matthew chapter 5 verse 8 says blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God let's pause in the truth of Jesus words for a few moments blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God the Greek word for Pure In this passage is catharos which means clean pure and clear water cascading from the mountain top into the valley crisp clean and clear symbolizes the washing away of what doesn't belong in Jesus we are washed pure and clean by his blood through him our hearts are purified let the washing of God's holiness Cascade over you tonight as a holy anointing allow the Holy Spirit to cover you with peace how good it is to be in the presence of God knowing he is with us and loves us with a steadfast love dear one he is with you tonight in the name of his son Jesus by the presence of the Holy Spirit he is with you for when we draw near to him he draws near to us feel his peace as you start to fall asleep let his Holiness surround you like a warm blanket allow the magnitude of his love to settle over your heart mind and soul in him there is perfect peace [Music] Heavenly Father thank you for being with us it is your presence we seek in the awe of the king because they perceived that the wisdom of God was in him to do justice [Music] people saw that God's wisdom wasn't Solomon by his words his actions and his decisions it was clear that he was walking in the wisdom from above as followers of Christ when we walk in God's wisdom it is clear to those around us that our lives represent wisdom that is first of all pure there's an encouraging passage in Philippians chapter 2 that says if there is any encouragement in Christ any comfort from Love any participation in the spirit any affection and sympathy complete my Joy by being of the same mind having the Same Love being in full Accord and of one mind do nothing from rivalry or conceit but in humility count others more significant than yourselves Let each of you look not only to his own interests but also to the interests of others have this mind among yourselves which is yours in Christ Jesus rest in the encouragement of Christ daily he speaks words of affirmation and Truth over you [Music] comforted by his love a love so great that he went to the cross for you walk in the Holy Spirit participating in everything that is good and holy let him Lead You In the way along the Narrow Path away from worldly Pursuits be of the same mind as Christ who said blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God imagine seeing the Lord For the First Time face to face what a day that will be as you hear the words well done good and faithful servant you will know that everything you went through was worth it the journey was long but eternity with your savior is your dark moment in Israel's history they had just learned that they would lose their Homeland and become exiles separated from the land God had given them and from the temple where they worshiped what would they do in this difficult moment Isaiah brings a word of comfort from God listen to the words of Isaiah have you never heard have you never understood the Lord is the Everlasting God the creator of all the Earth he never grows weak or weary no one can measure the depths of his understanding he gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless even youths will become weak and tired and young men will fall in exhaustion foreign but those who trust in the Lord will find new Strength they will soar high on wings like eagles they will run and not grow weary they will walk and not faint God may this child be carried On Eagle's Wings tonight finding new Strength nourished by your grace and peace return to your breath notice it moving in and out and let it be a prayer a statement of Hope inhaling those who trust in the Lord and exhaling will find new Strength inhaling those who trust in the Lord and exhaling will find new Strength just rest here and let your breath do its work imagine soaring lifting gently away from the ground and floating as light as a cloud into a Dusky sky cushioned on all sides by the faintest breath of air you see the sun beginning to set in the distance the colors are a blaze of Rose magenta Violet deep purple and burnt orange below a deepening Azure blue and the beauty calms you you feel the first Cool Breeze of evening crush your skin you smell the soft scent of honeysuckle wafting Up From Below and you hear crickets and cicadas chirping in the distance as you are lifted higher you find that your worries are growing smaller you're leaving them behind below you on Earth and finally they disappear in the distance impossible to see anymore instead your eyes are drawn to the increasingly vibrant Sunset over distant mountain peaks drawn in a smudge of charcoal and white against the Dusky sky in the distance you see the first star appearing from here You Can See For Miles the air is temperate and it cradles you somewhere above the trees and below the clouds as you survey the world around you you see Lush Green Hills rolling towards steeper mountains which are stunning in Beauty and covered with snow at the tops you see a road twisting over these Hills and Valleys and cutting in switchbacks over the sides of the mountains it's a long road winding and steep may you see a man walking on that long Lonely Road then you hear a voice Comfort Comfort my people says your God speak tenderly to Jerusalem tell her that her sad days are gone and her sins are pardoned yes the Lord has punished her twice over for all her sins you hear another voice this one's shouting clear the way through the Wilderness for the Lord make a straight highway through the Wasteland for our God as you watch the road below you is raised and straightened its sinuous path becoming taut and direct the valleys are filled in raised up while the mountains and hills are leveled lowered to meet the valley [Music] the rough places become smooth the road below you is straight and sure easy to walk and it begins to shine gloriously Stone path when the sun strikes it just after a light rain and you realize that man walking on the lonely road is the Lord and the Lord is coming to save his people pray with me God when we look for you we see that you are coming you are on the way to save us even now you created all that is and you sustain it in every moment by your love thank you that even as your child is resting tonight you are holding them in your love in every moment thank you for coming with comfort and for making a way where there seems to be no way all creation bends at your command all creation Rises up to meet you to make a way for you to praise you thank you God you watch the road as the man walks down it you know now that the Lord is coming he never grows weary he never grows weak as you look closer you see that the road has led him to a lamb the lamb noses his leg and bleats pitifully he gently picks up the lamb and places it over his shoulders speaking quietly and reassuring the creature at every move you can see The Tender Love in the way he moves as he continues to walk a flock of sheep follow him bleeding happily and frolicking in the green grass along the path they walk toward the sunset together Isaiah says he will feed his flock like a shepherd He will carry the lamb in his arms holding them close to his heart he will gently lead the mother's sheep with their young [Music] his gentleness strengthens the flock they don't grow weary either and you you've been soaring through the air watching them and your body feels strong and capable as if you too are being carried and cared for by this strong Shepherd his strength gives you strength to go on foreign pray with me god good shepherd we are grateful for the tender compassionate way you care for us you carry us and we trust in your strength and wisdom and know that we have nothing to fear when we are following you along the path you have chosen thank you for being our strong Shepherd thank you for your tenderness we love you God in the distance you see the ocean sparkling reflecting the twinkling light of the stars as they come out one by one and the glow of the full moon the waves roll steadily toward the shore crashing with dignity and might against the cool white sand their steady Rhythm calms you you listen to the sound of the water moving [Music] as you soar further over the ocean you see a dolphin leaping with joy from the waters and then a whole pod of dolphins in perfect synchronized jumps you hear their happy calls and smell the Tangy smell of salt water dipping closer you feel the light spray of the tide on your skin the ocean is vast and unsearchable jellyfish and stingrays sharks and electric eels puffer fish and sea lions coral and caves more than we can know or name and yet God has held the oceans in his hand all of this beauty was made by God the Everlasting God the creator of all the Earth the one who loves and cares about you who restores and heals you who picks you up when you fall who gives you strength when you're weak who makes you sore return again to your breath just let it move in and out remember the words of promise inhaling those who trust in the Lord and exhaling find new strengths inhaling those who trust in the Lord and exhaling will find new Strength rest here and let your breath do its work you look up into the heavens who created all the stars God brings them out like an army one after another calling each by its name because of his great power and incomparable strength not a single one is missing and this great God knows every thought in your mind numbers every hair on your head he sees your troubles and he cares for you too the star-filled sky goes on forever and yet God has measured off the heavens with his fingers the Earth is marked with mountains and Hills and yet God knows their weight knows every Pebble and flower every chirping bird every cautious deer every slumbering bear every butterfly in chrysalis God knows it all God's wisdom is unsearchable this God is holding you in his hands too you have nothing to fear as you soar higher again you see the nation spread out below you all the peoples of the Earth some praise God with you others are looking for Hope in all the wrong places making Idols in their own image and worshiping worthless things you want to call out to them in the words of the prophet Isaiah and say to whom can you compare God what image can you find to resemble him [Music] can he be compared to an idol formed in a mold overlaid with gold and decorated with silver chains or if people are too poor for that they might at least choose wood that won't decay and a skilled Craftsman to carve an image that won't fall down haven't you heard don't you understand are you deaf to the words of God the words he gave before the world began are you so ignorant God sits above the circle of the Earth the people below seem like grasshoppers to him he spreads out the heavens like a curtain and makes his tent from them you know that one day all people will bow before this Great and Mighty God and sing his praises you want to call to them now to invite them into the life of joy that God offers the Great and Mighty God who sits enthroned above the heavens cares for us you want to say he loves us [Music] you want to say have you never heard have you never understood the Lord is the Everlasting God the creator of all the Earth he never grows weak or weary no one can measure the depths of his understanding he gives power to the weak strength to the powerless even youths will become weak and tired and young men will fall on exhaustion but those who trust in the Lord will find new Strength they will soaring high on wings like eagles they will run and not grow weary they will walk and not faint [Music] God's Grace has done this for you God's Grace has given you new strength and taken away your weariness God's Grace has restored you you can walk with God Forever Without growing weary once again allow your breath to Simply move in and out staining you let your breath become a prayer breathing in those who trust in the Lord and breathing out we'll find new Strength inhaling those who trust in the Lord and exhaling will find new Strength rest here in that promise as you breathe the moon has fully risen now in its soft light you can still see the shepherd walking the way God has made carrying the Lamb on his back the ocean Sparkles gently in the distance the mountains are invisible now the sun has set the sky is a deep Navy set with sparkling Stars and the faintest chill is in the air it's time for all you can see to sleep God Alone watches over creation it's time for you to sleep too the soft air that's cradled you on this journey shifts beneath you and you realize you're nestled in feathers soft white feathers on the back of an enormous Majestic eagle he's carrying you you feel the warmth from his body under you and relax he's slowly slowly swooping down bringing you closer to your bed closer to the deep rest you need you're not worried here or there sleep will find you you've never felt this safe before the words of Isaiah echo in your mind and heart again have you never heard have you never understood the Lord is the Everlasting God the creator of all the Earth he never grows weak or weary no one can measure the depths of his understanding he gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless even youths will become weak and tired and young men will fall in exhaustion those who trust in the Lord will find new Strength they will soar high on wings like eagles they will run and not grow weary they will walk and not faint and once again you let those words enter with your breath inhaling those who trust in the Lord and exhaling will find new Strength this is your hope your confident belief your promise from God [Music] inside your home as your Eagle brings you near the scent of pine leaves fills your nostrils there's a hint of wood smoke in the air too your home will be warm and dark soft and quiet tonight's Journey has ended but God's promise never does his mercies are new every morning great is his faithfulness as you drift off to sleep in your own bed you sense the shepherd still walking still making that way in the dark you sensed the eagle ready to carry you when you're tired you sense God with you now and to the very end in this safe space you drift into sleep let me pray for you God of Wonders thank you for lifting this child of yours Up On Eagle's Wings thank you for restoring their strength thank you for revealing yourself to them help them now to rest peacefully to be refreshed to be refilled and to trust in you to be their strength whenever they grow tired or weary give them sweet dreams and restorative sleep it's in Jesus name that I pray now and always amen [Music] God's love for you reaches to the highest heavens his faithfulness stretches to the skies the God of all the Earth of all wisdom and power and glory is with you now holding you in his arms singing Over You delighting in
