RESPECT THE HYPHEN

look at this barbarity only a real Spider-Man fan can understand how truly Sinister this action is in my opinion three of the worst crimes you can commit within the Spider-Man Community are not adding The Hyphen in Spider-Man not adding eight legs to a spider logo design and supporting you know who but I'm here to talk about The Hyphen this is such a widespread crime that even Google is guilty of this if characters like Electro can get it right then why the hell can't you guys do what's necessary you're the real villains okay but if you're a member of the general public who's not a DieHard Spidey fan you're probably confused as to why I'm getting upset over a lousy hyphen fellas get ready for a quick history lesson in 2010 Stan Al the man who created Spider-Man alongside Jack Kirby and Steve dicko posted a tweet detailing the origin of The Hyphen in the hero's name it was added because Lee didn't want people to confuse him with Superman he even said that a missing hyphen could ruin his day back in the' 60s the two characters were more likely to get mixed up because they weren't as famous and popular as they are now and to be Fair they did have similar sounding names but the hyphen helped distinguish Spidey from the Man of Steel it also avoided potential copyright issues from DC and they were pretty protective of their characters they went out of their way to sue any comic book character that even had the most minor resemblance to Superman including a certain superhero that everyone now knows since the establishment of the hyphen other spider powerered characters like spidergwen and Spider-Man Noir kept the punctuated names but for some reason despite what Stanley said in spite his first comic book appearance The Hyphen was only added to the front cover and the opening page and there's there's even a comic panel where doot calls Spider-Man Superman but they kept The Hyphen I'm pretty sure this was like a printing issue or just an honest mistake because there was no way this was done on purpose but doing any ideas The Hyphen is still important trust me Marvel might have fumbled Justice once but do you know who's really focused on maintaining The Hyphen Spider-Man himself the whole hyphen thing has kind of become a recurring joke within Spider-Man media especially in his com where Peter constantly reminds heroes and villains to add a piece of punctuation in his name look even he knows about the Google search predictions it's over check M anyway even over 60 years after his debut people still refuse to add The Hyphen but the hyen has a purpose plus it just looks more visually appealing with it also the fact that Spider-Man can just sense whenever a comic character is in hyphen a is kind of funny when it comes to superheroes that have hyphens in their name Spider-Man is one of the first that comes to mind The Hyphen in Spidey name is such a key detail that's forgotten or out ignored far too often it's what makes his name visually unique from the multitude of other heroes in the world of comics and without it his name can just blend in with every other word in the sentence so it looks unrecognizable so remember it's supposed to be written like this and if for some reason you can't stand the side of a hyphen just call him Spidey if you accidentally misspell his name on a mobile keyboard because of auto correct or a typo that's okay I understand that but other than that you got no excuse okay wait give me a few seconds to do what I should have done at the start of the video all right let me make myself clear if I ever find out that you intentionally left out or refuse it have the hyen in Spider-Man's name I will make you play suicide squ kill the Justice League and then watch more BS M went back to back while drinky catch up straight from the bottle Spider-Man fans don't like a missing hyphen but uh other than that my worker is done thanks for watching I hope maybe the start of the video gave you a bit more context Ring The Hyphen be sure to like the video subscribe and I'll see you guys next time whole thing's just been me going insane for a piece of punctuation I didn't know it might be losing it wasth it though [Applause]
