hey guys I am back today with a very quick video I actually didn't want to do a voiceover but I decided to just go ahead and do it so I replaced my half-bath light fixture a few months ago and I wanted to show you guys really quickly how I did it it's really not hard to do the most important thing that you're going to need to do is take the power off to your bathroom okay just switching it off it's not going to be safe go and take the breakers off that you know have power tool to your bathroom okay um you may have you might you might hear my kids in the background there it's Friday and they're watching TV and doing all that stuff so excuse them alright but yeah this light fixture is what came with the house so I've been wanting to replace it it's not hideous or anything it's just not the fixture that I personally like so I just decided to remove it okay so what you're gonna do is just you know take apart white take white off of white black off a black and the ground wire which is usually a copper color remove that from the light fixture unscrew all of that and then remove the mirror if you need to if it's in the way okay so it has this type of bracket on here that is made for a light fixture that screws in the middle only that doesn't work with my new light fixture so I'm going to remove that also make sure you have a really good screwdriver this screwdriver I got from the dollar store and it was the worst it was one of those screwdrivers that has like the interchangeable tips but the plastic part where you put your hand kept spinning whenever I turned it to to unscrew the old bracket okay so now I'm using a round type of bracket and this one will be able to hold a new fixture which requires two screws to hold it in place okay so we're gonna put that on put all the wires through the hole and then screw that on to the box then the light fixture box that's in the wall I'm not exactly sure what you call it okay but I just call it the light box okay I'm not an electrician or anything like that if you want to know the correct name of it google it okay but um yeah I've replaced a couple light fixtures in the house already so you know I'm pretty familiar with replacing it it's just when it comes to like names for certain things I'm not gonna pretend like I know because I don't okay I just know this is the bracket that goes with it then and that's that alright so I'm putting this in place and I do apologize if I'm in the way I really thought that I had a good angle here you know and then I realized I was in the way but it's super easy okay once you get your light fixture out of the packaging you can go ahead I personally suggest putting the ground wire on first so basically you're going to screw the ground wire which looks like a little copper wire screw that on to the screw that's on the bracket it usually has like a little tint green color on it screw it onto there so unscrew that screw twist the copper wire around it and then screw it down in place this will kind of hold the light fixture in place so you can quickly attach the white wires to the white one so that's what I'm doing right now twist those in place and then put one of the orange plastic caps or it could be black or white I don't know which color you'll get with your fixture and cover the wires you don't want any of the raw wire exposed in the wall okay that's not safe so make sure you cover the wires so white with white black with black it's really that simple and make sure you attach the ground to that screw that has the little green like color on it it I usually see it on every light fixture I replace and put up so you know if yours doesn't come with it follow the direction that comes with your light fixture okay so I'm gently putting all the wires back into the light socket wall and then using the two little fasteners that came with my leg fixture to fasten the new light fixture onto the wall I'm just checking to make sure it's level okay and the reason why I check this because the bracket was a circle so you know sometimes it could kind of be slanted even just wanted to make sure so now you're just gonna put your bulbs on screw them in place remember the electricity still needs to be off okay do not put it on until you're completely done and you don't have to go back in to do anything okay and then the light fixture does come with these glass covers it's a two-piece glass system it has one that kind of diffuses the light and then it has a clear one that adds a second layer it's so cutely pretty I really do like it just make sure you clean it before you put the glass on there okay if you guys are interested in a light fixture I do have a link to it I found it on Amazon I am an Amazon affiliate so I used my Amazon affiliates link you know I'll make a small percentage I believe it's like five to six percent so if you purchase it I'll make a percentage just want to let you guys know that if you don't want to use the link you totally do not have to use it okay but I really do love to like picture I love how it looks okay I wanted a brass colored light fixture to go along with my faucet it is a tad bit darker than my faucet but it's okay I love it's beautiful I'm happy with it okay so I kind of changed the brightness on my camera so you guys could have a better look at the light fixture and here I'm just putting the mirror back onto the wall this mirror I got from Lowe's yes from Lowe's and yeah my only issue right now is to lower my mirror just a bit but I'll see if I change my mind I'm not sure I kind of like that the mirror is higher up because I don't like my kids touching it so much so I'll see in the future if I'll change that all right thank you guys for watching I appreciate the time that you were faking to watch my videos and I'll see you soon in another video bye [Music]
