hello there guys uh welcome to today's video uh I've got in this is a uh hubmoder from a what is it an access Mustang anyway it uh basically it's got stripped gears inside the motor I'm just going to try and demonstrate the noise for you basically it sounds like this and I'm pretty sure that's that's going to be stripped gears um what I think we want to do is not touch this half of the motor but we want to pop out the other half the motor and and have a little look inside it so I'm just going to give the axle on the far side of the motor a little tap with a hammer to see if it will loosen up a little bit and we've got one two three four five six uh talks little screws to get out of there should be able to pop you into the next level of Zoom there you go a bit better pick to call asleep [Music] um I don't know what size talks out but I suppose I'm about to find out my uh what have we got this T10 to get small T15 oh just right there you go T15 talks be the answer to that one something to put this in I don't know is it that [Music] thank you this didn't fall too far there we go right and then I'm going to tap out the axle from the other side loosen off the nuts this is inside them on the floor oh yeah absolutely cream cracker they are and then inside the Hub here is just full of the schmoo so that all needs clearing out that brake clean toothbrush petrol whatever your chosen weapon of choices but you can see that is uh that's all solid particles it doesn't like that um so that all wants cleaning out fine fine and dandy and then these gears here will want replacing I don't know quite how many teeth they're supposed to have but quite possibly like a box down a bathang 36 Joby uh I might even have a clutch assembly because if this has happened it might need one I'm just gonna pause you for a sec and I will grab hopefully the appropriate gears okay big tray of Gears uh what have I got I've got these ones I think are two wide the teeth they are this one oh look there you go I believe that's a whole clutch assembly and the appropriate gears in there um this should be just a lot of the appropriate gears inside this package more gears [Music] really I'll just replace it with a lot Maybe easy solution to this so um I'll probably put this on advice and then do a bit of spinning for you so you can see what's going on there you go um I think the gears are 36 T I'm going to be putting in or Knack at that uh right so we've got a little spacer like a shim here I'll have to remember to put back on inside the motor we've got a circlip just here that apparently my finger is enough that I got it foreign s and watch it go flying across the workshop get them on you it's I think it's held the intention underneath this uh oh no there you go that's reusable right might need a new one of them so a little bit deformed and then with the gears we should just be able to get a two big screwdrivers under that you can use a big puller like uh this type of thing to undo it but we don't need to I don't think I'm pretty sure this one's going to be kind of loosey-goosey already two big screwdrivers underneath that and just there you go off it comes uh there's another little shim just on there oh I didn't want to do that and then yeah well you can see that they're just they're just ruined but that's the whole point of these um you can replace just the gears so that would involve just loosening off this lock ring here this lock ring here and this Locker in here the gear should slide up put the new one on and replace that um you don't have to you can and then what's left in here you've got to make sure that you clean all this out because this is a solid lump of plastic this is basically just a whole tooth that's broken off and if you don't clean it all out really thoroughly what will happen is you put the new gears in and a you'll hear a noise and B you'll start breaking the teeth off the new gears you just put in which is oh good not something we want to do really um the most important thing about gear replacing is just making sure all the old debris is out because you don't want to do it twice doing it twice is really really annoying and yeah as I say no one wants that it's unnecessary uh right got a cloth here I'm trying to scrape up some of the bits and I tend to get most of it out with a pick if you don't have a pick you can use a little screwdriver so that's most of it out of the larger lumps anyway um and then what you want to do is probably going with something that's a bit like pressurized I like to use brake clean for because it's great brake clean is great for everything to help just shift the rest of the stuff and then your finest toothbrush is used for brushing your teeth and really give it a good clean so side to side is useful but you also got to do up and down otherwise you'll never get all the bits out [Music] lovely right and then I'll just do a like a visual inspection make sure they're all out and then you can run the pick in there in every single tooth and just make sure that nothing comes out if something comes out you've got to clean it more because you obviously didn't do a very good job cleaning it in the first place it's coming out perfectly clean every time so I'm you know pretty happy that that's okay a couple of bits in the screw head here that we don't want um so that part of the motor's ready um I suppose maybe I'll maybe I'll replace the gears individually for the video I'll do that I'll do that it helps if you have a vice but you don't have to have a vice you know people don't I didn't for a very very long time and then disappeared so you know great I'll get my little bag of Gears here now ideally you want to be able to hold this over the old one and see if the teeth sort of match up and look the same profile wise or count the teeth obvious see we can't count the teeth because we don't have the teeth left I just know that from experience are basically like do common types of gears for this size Hub motor and uh it's not the big one so you know it's this one um but yeah this set of Gears comes with new locking rings that I can't pick up because I've got gloves on I hate gloves they're so annoying can never pick up anything ever told me mental right there comes with a new lock ring looks a bit like that it's just going to go over the other little nut there um you can sort of reuse the old ones you shouldn't but you know there are much worse things in the world so to loosen that off you just want to get your pliers or two screwdrivers are better than me uh I don't think that my pliers will go small enough I don't think they'll they'll work for this job no there's no chance just gonna go for two screwdrivers see how I fare like that then you sort of leave with a screwdrivers against each other a bit and um normally it's doable he had a third hand when it opens it up you could then slide another tool in there but I wasn't born with three hands as much as I wish I was evil well there you go that one just hit me in the face so you know there we are right now you can see moves up and down then you should be able to lever It Off um right dearly we'll do something similar to what I did for the uh the whole this whole clutch assembly and just pop it off for two screwdrivers now because I'm filming this is never going to work but um oh no look it does like that so once all three are off um I'll clean it up because down all that on there and we will cut back to it okay right after much anger I've got the old gears off so a little bit of brake clean toothbrush just helps break down the old grease and all the nasty smooth that's on there you want it's nasty Shmoo and clean it all off and give it a bit of a wipe down make sure it's all tippy top lovely a bit more in there actually managed to make its way in there so now that is all nice and cleaned what we're going to do is take our new gears they do sort of have an up and a downside that's the downside that's the upside I'm gonna place them on there like that make sure they're nice and clean of any debris don't want them to be breaking again the second we put them back on it's got a bit of something on it okay two three of those just like that right and then put on our new circlips it's going to have to be a gloves off job but everything's kind of clean now so it's okay that clip pliers fit oh yeah they will so get your clip on your pliers over then use a screwdriver to just push it into place and it won't ping out all over the street nothing too crazy about it if you've worked with anything circlip belated before it's fine if you haven't you're learning or send it to us and we'll do it for you oh they're all good options like a rite of passage of doing anything with a circuit that was having it peeing across the room and be completely unable to find it that's just it's part of the process you have to do that apparently and then our last one they go gears collected some shroom already um sorted so you're going to want to grease this reasonably well but this one you know what I've got kind of Clean Hands today I'm going to put the glove back on gonna do it I never do it but I thought I'd try that'll keep you clean won't it right so just because the rest of the motor looks like this yeah nasty don't forget that little shim that went on there oh didn't go on yet did it hmm I won't be done one day uh right so that goes on there this key here this slot lines up with the Woodruff key that you can't see because it's on the other side of the shop but it's there I promise I'm not lying to you okay gears beautiful uh right so we had this little thing we had a circlip the old one is getting reused because I'm I'm a bad person it's not like it can go anywhere inside the motor anyway um if it does break guess who's got to fix it I'll give you a hint it starts with them and ends in e it's me I gotta fix it uh [Music] other little shims I think there are three of them all stacked together in there the Grid on no we've lost him don't worry I found it uh right and then there's three of those okay right uh so gears are done so Clips on clutch mechanism is working because I can turn it that way and it free spins and that way it doesn't um apply Grease it kind of doesn't really matter to a level like what sort of Grease you end up using because any grease is better than no grease however you want something sort of a lithium grease based this is Bosch uh Drive Universe because when they set uh send you the stuff to rebuild the boss Motors they send you way too much to send you this whole giant tube and it's good stuff you know they use it in bottom Motors you can use in Hub Motors it's fine I hope because I've been doing it that's plenty on the gears there they don't need to be soaked or anything like that that'll go back into the bike and be fine and happy um I do obviously have to clean out the bike side but I'm not going to show you that because it's just the same as cleaning up those teeth but just there's more of it and it's boring nobody wants to see it so yeah anyway um thank you very much for watching nice and simple repair today uh yeah like share comment subscribe whatever kind of fun YouTube things you feel like doing um everything helps us out if you have this same problem with your bike when you turn the throttle because the pedal assistant just goes and the motor is obviously turning but it's you know this kind of horrible noise um give us a call I can hopefully fix it for you if you don't want to do it yourself thank you bye-bye
