Rename Multiple Files in a Folder at Once (With Different Names) From Excel List | Excel Template

okay you want to rename files within a folder using Microsoft Excel now the first thing to do is to click up in this box here where you have the file path that will select the file path and you're going to type over it with the character CMD and press enter that will open this window and what you're going to do after that greater than symbol is type di space SLB press enter and that'll give you a list of all the files in that folder so your next step is to select those file names copy them crl + C on your keyboard and then go over to excel so I've provided this template for you and you can download it via the description in this video and what you'll want to do is paste the existing file names into column A under this heading old file name so contrl V to paste now what you want to then do is enter the new file names that you want for these files now I don't want to replace all of the file names so I'm going to paste in the existing ones and I'm just going to edit the file names that I want to change so I've renamed all the files and over here we have the text that we need to pay into that command prompt that we were in earlier on so I'm going to select those CS copy contrl C on my keyboard and I'm going to go back to that command prompt all I need to do is paste in that text from Excel into the next line in the command prompt so contrl V to paste and you might get this warning but just click on paste anyway and then close down the command prompt and you should see that your files have been renamed okay that's all I wanted to cover in this particular video hopefully that's useful if it is please give me a thumbs up and subscribe and I'll see you next [Music] video
