Remembering Harmony Montgomery: An interview with her mom, Crystal Sorey

[Music] [Laughter] [Music] [Laughter] [Music] [Laughter] oh my gosh when I say it and I will keep saying it this was a hundred and ten percent preventable preventable if the information had been passed on if they had listened to the reports from Mass in New Hampshire they would have said oh yeah uh look at this dude's record there's no way he'd be capable of taking care of her you know especially with her Blind Eye and um her having an IEP and she are supposed to be in play therapy because of you know being separated from me um yeah there was so much so many things that could have been done to prevent it was you know the the police were there 16 times there was 39 new um DCF reports you know what I mean like it was just I was ignored I was ignored because I lost custody of her and I was in recovery and they were like well who cares you know they even told me at one point you can't can't report it as missing because he has custody so I had to report her as an endangered minor and then still wasn't being heard and that's when I wrote out to the to the mayor and you know I had at least at my door within 24 hours which is like why did it have to take that you know um that I'm just happy we're able to get Justice not ah not happy that's that's a lie um I'm okay with the Justice we're getting and you know hopeful that people are going to do the right thing for her I'm grateful for everybody that's come together for her and put their differences aside and maybe even their judgment of me to be here to love Harmony [Music] love to love you know it was her kind Bonnie um oh God that girl could talk she could tell you her whole life story by the time she was two you know very very smart and advanced they always said she was very advanced as far as her intelligence goes you know um is why we're doing well with this we're also going to have something December 7th her anniversary most likely in Haverhill we're trying to do something that is impactful you know some type of protests are just coming together vigil to say Hey you know what should have happened [Music] strong I have my days where I I still can't believe it you know I didn't think this would be the outcome [Music] you know I tried to put it in the back of my mind in case that was this was the outcome that I would know how to handle it that I would know how to cope you know and I'm okay I'm I'm strong in my recovery I was wrong with my family um strong with my providers you know so I'm okay she gives me strength my son gives me strength every day and to be able to see Jameson and talk on with him and make sure that you know he's okay [Music] I'll be okay [Music] [Laughter] [Music] oh yeah yeah I'm just really hoping that he just says flat out lizards I'm not telling you another thing but I'll tell you where she is but I'm just hoping that he does that one thing you know but if he doesn't I know for a fact Kayla knows where she is if she knows all that she knows now wait till the last minute you know and I will figure it out you know we'll Stand Together um it gives us hope you know gives us hope [Music] the corporation law um you know obviously I don't ever want him to see the light again he doesn't deserve a deadly squat at all um I I do want Kayla to serve a significant amount of time at her her testimony is crap you know but [Music] a little will cross that bridge when we get there we have hope at this point so that's what matters to me in my [Music] [Laughter] it means everything you know because sometimes I feel alone like people don't understand what I'm going through and um you know I'm not gonna lie I didn't put through hell for the last 10 months you know people bashing me and saying I was a part of it somewhere but the fact that the truth is out and I don't I don't have to deal with that anymore it's still going to be people that don't win I've owned my part you know I've never I've never kept it a secret I've never lied about it I I know my part you know and I have to live with that but this means the world to me you know um and it you know it's not just the people here this there's people from Australia that reach out to me on on a weekly basis you know people she's impacted people all over the world and our goal is to make changes so this doesn't happen again and again and again you know and I know that's what you would want and my dream now is to one day open my own uh DCF office or a residential for kids or something that I can help kids because I know that's what [Music] that's what you know that's that's my goal is in the future Harmony's favorite character is Minnie Mouse um her whole room was Minnie Mouse she had a four foot Minnie Mouse four foot Minnie Mouse doll in her room um you know pretty much every Halloween she wanted to be Minnie Mouse or a mermaid princess es I figured after everything that's been happening um that I would go for Halloween as her favorite character and I'm her favorite person so it seemed right to me and I wanted to come here like this to represent something that makes her happy it's Minnie Mouse really made her happy tried to always make her happy with Michelle and all the good memories are in behavioral in Boston [Music] so we just want to close this chapter on New Hampshire because nothing could happen here for her so we're Gathering everybody that loves armies to close the door and keep her memories in Hebrew [Music] [Music] [Laughter] thank you [Music]
