When Princess Haya ran away from her husband
Sheikh Mohammed, everyone was shocked. Haya said she feared for her life and the
lives of her children. She found asylum in England and filed for
divorce. It was one of the biggest and most scandalous
trials in the world. Where is Princess Haya now? And what happened to her years after the break
with one of the richest and cruelest sheikhs in the world? Keep watching to find out. This is Wow channel. Before we continue make sure to subscribe

Mohammed and Princess Haya were the perfect couple. They often appeared in public together and
raised two children. But no one knew what happened behind the closed
doors in their luxurious palace. Haya had to put up with the role of the Sheikh's
second and junior wife. Was it easy for her? Who knows. Nevertheless, in public she was always cheerful
and smiling. The princess wore elegant, colorful outfits
and looked like a modern European woman. In contrast, Sheikh Mohammed usually was dressed
in traditional Dubai attire and had a stern expression. They were like people from different worlds. And it is true. Princess Haya was 25 years younger than her
husband. She was the daughter of King Hussein of Jordan
and his third wife Alia. In her native country, Haya had a lot of freedom. She could do whatever she liked and live wherever
she wanted. Haya has loved horses since childhood and
started her Equestrian Sports career at the age of 13. The young princess lived in the UK for several
years and graduated from Oxford University in England. She has been independent since early age,
as she lived and studied abroad for a long time away from her family. Therefore, it was a surprise for everyone
when, at the age of 30, she moved to Dubai and became the second and youngest wife of
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum. Was it true love or an arranged marriage? It is hard to say. The personal life of wealthy Arab sheikhs
remains a mystery to everyone. But from the outside, it looked like an unequal
relationship. Haya was young, and this was her first marriage. And she probably did not know what kind of
life awaits her in the United Arab Emirates. Sheikh Mohammed was not only much older than
her, but also had much more experience in family life. He had already been officially married 5 times
and had douzens of children. Some of his wives and daughters have never
been seen in public. Because in an Arab country, it is customary
for women to keep a low profile. They are forced to obey the will of their
husband or father. And they have no right to complain about their
life, no matter how hard it is. Nevertheless, Princess Haya and Sheikh Mohammed
lived together for 15 years and had two children: Sheikha Al Jalila and Sheikh Zayed. Haya often accompanied her husband to official
events. In public, they seemed like a happy, perfect
family. Therefore, it came as a complete surprise
to everyone when, in 2019, the Princess suddenly fled abroad with her kids and demanded a divorce. What was the reason for this act? The press reported that Princess Haya had
an affair with a British bodyguard who worked for her. The court found that she even had to pay more
than a million dollars to keep this relationship a secret. But despite this, the truth was revealed. Sheikh Mohammed was furious when he found
out about this. He accused her of betrayal and began to threaten. He once posted a poem titled «You lived,
You Died» on social media where he hinted that she could die. Haya felt in danger in Dubai. She also learned that Sheikh Mohammed is a
cruel person. He imprisoned and tortured his own daughters
Sheikha Shamsa and Sheikha Latifa. Haya tried to help her stepdaughters, but
without success. She realized that she could not resist the
cruel ruler of Dubai. In addition, she could lose her children forever. So she had to flee first to Germany and then
to the UK, where she asked for asylum and began divorce proceedings. The court found that Sheikh Mohammed stalked
his wife and tapped her phones. The judgment declared that Princess Haya had
been a victim of «domestic abuse». He added her kids were living in ‘highly
restricted circumstances’ because of the abduction risk posed to them. Princess Haya told the court: "It feels as
if I am being stalked, that there is literally nowhere for me to go to be safe from [Sheikh
Mohammed], or those acting in his interests. It is hugely oppressive." The court proved that Sheikh Mohammed organized
the abduction of his two daughters and forcibly kept them at their home in Dubai. After that it became clear to everyone that
the ruler of the emirate is a dangerous person. Therefore, the justice took the side of his
ex-wife. The court ordered the ruler of Dubai to pay
$728 million to princess Haya. It was one of the UK's largest ever divorce
settlements. As a result, Princess Haya received full custody
of her children and got a lot of money. After the divorce, she rarely appears in public. This is not surprising, since she fears that
Sheikh Mohammed may continue to persecute her. Once, he tried to buy a house next to hers
in order to keep an eye on her life. Fortunately, he didn't succeed. Princess Haya bint Hussein has made a rare
public appearance in 2022 to attend a committal service for the Queen in Windsor. She came to pay her respects to the late monarch
with her brother Prince Hassan. It came a day after her ex-husband, Sheikh
Mohammed Al Maktoum, paid a visit to Buckingham Palace to meet King Charles at a reception
on the eve of the Queen's funeral. Last year Princess Haya also was seeking asylum
in Wales, where she decided to buy a hotel where she wanted to build a country house. This hotel is known to be in a secluded area. And no one says exactly where it is, to protect
her security. Haya also owns two multi-million pound properties
- one next to London's Kensington Palace, as well as her main residence in Egham, Surrey. All the princess wants now is to lead a quiet
life away from people's attention along with her children, 15-year-old princess Al-Jalilah
and 12-year-old prince Zayed. Now Haya probably feels more safe because
her half-brother, King Abdullah II of Jordan, appointed her deputy chief of mission of the
Jordanian embassy in Great Britain to ensure her and her children diplomatic immunity. Fortunately, Princess Haya managed to escape
from the sheikh's hypercontrol and become free. She also received a big fortune and saved
her children, because her daughter could be forced to marry in Dubai. But her story should remind everyone that
life in a luxurious palace can sometimes turn into a nightmare. And being able to live safely and see your
children every day is more important than money. Do you think so too? Thanks for watching. Don’t forget to share your thoughts with
