Refugees in Calais: 'It's psychological warfare'

[Music] we understand we understand how much refugees have to give to this country and we understand how much this country has to gain from welcoming refugees and we will be generous and we are being generous mr speaker easy we can't get our act together by putting a visa processing center on the ground in calais for first of march today's what's 15th [Music] he literally walked 45 kilometers all the way from the border up to border and my wife and two kids and a cat my daughter she was crying hopefully he ends soon and we go back to normal lives my mom sometimes she asked me to to have a video call and i have to run to find a place that's quite nice to know that to have a video call with her because i cannot take the video and i'm in jingle sometime i also like run from talking to her because i know i'm just lying it's not the truth what i'm saying too i'm doing great and this is the house that i'm living but it's just the fake news i give it to her it's just a fake life to live here i have a family in the uk over there and i prefer to be close to the family because i'm done being far from my family we really like didn't like anything's going away like the situation we live is very horrible um like you see in front of you like now we are every morning we wake up in front of the fire we're just trying to get warm make a coffee [Music] this is the coffee it's so tasty here is the 10 of one of my best friend that she already met to uk every day when i wake up in the morning i used to come to say good morning tim and i'm really missing and this is another 10 of one of our friends but they're still sleeping they don't wake up yet it's quite early so we wake up always late after being trying um all the night people they try by the truck the driver you know that cannot see you and you just he's just driving like nothing's there and then you just ride and climb to the truck it's of course it's dangerous like every time people that they would keep trying like weak and there's people they will stay like a year it's depend of that luck maybe it's your time you know that didn't yet come [Music] also someone is living here and this is the place sometimes we used to play football those guys um are there and over there also there is people who are living and then if you see the cars over there i will try to zoom it this is the cups [Music] when they came so they just like circling the place and then they do whatever they want to do inside and then after that they will leave the place some of them are very like but you know that sometimes when they come they are racist and they sold us and they do just a lot of and we don't have right to do the video because you will fear to yourself make the video you know and there is no evidence about what i'm saying there are evictions in calais every 48 hours like for now in the summer it was every 24 hours although sometimes they they switch it up foreign [Applause] it's a very militarized city you have to be really resilient to live through this for a long time being evicted every 48 hours often having your tent and your personal belongings confiscated foreign uh [Music] do you need a charger do you need a small one or big one before we used to have our van inside this field but some weeks after the local authorities built this trench and they put massive boulders to prevent organizations from entering the site so they're making it difficult for us and now they ban food and water distributions in several parts of kalihi foreign when you arrive in calais and you see the amount of fences and barbed wire and tear gas it makes me very sad for my town i think what could improve their situation if if they were asked like the ukrainians waiting for visas and not parked on the outskirts of calais in the rain in tents people are so passionate about ukrainians and in the way they just realized that everyone's human so yeah i i strongly believe that there was that was a bit of a wake-up call and hopefully it's going to be a wake-up call in the right way [Music] you
