hey guys welcome back to another Alex rebuilds video and by the title of this video you guys already know what's going on yes that is correct we are going to pick up the gas monkey garage 1976 Chevy c10 it is something completely different and something I have never done before but we are going to learn but with that being said we got about a nine hundred to a thousand mile drive to go pick this thing up so without wasting any more time let's hit the road [Music] so we finally made it down to Dallas and the current time is 9:45 p.m. so we left at 5:00 a.m. so I don't know whatever the math is well technically it is 10:45 back home but we finally made it back to Dallas and let me show you guys how many miles we don't traveled in a matter of what five am another five that's 12 in 17 hours look at 1020 3 miles and we got 16.7 mpg so if any trucking companies out there looking for our nice reliable driver send me an email I might be available for a truck driving position well yeah so we have came to my friend's house he actually lives here so we're gonna spend the night here and then get up tomorrow morning and go pick up that 1976 Chevy c10 all right guys we have finally arrived to the location and here she is that is right this is the gas monkey 1976 Chevy c10 check this baby out guys this is something I have definitely never done before this is going to be a quite interesting project so let's load this thing up and take it back to the shop but before we do that it's going to be quite interesting how we're going to get it onto the trailer I don't want them to fork it because everything underneath is like polished and whatnot so I don't want to slide the forks underneath and mess anything up so I think what I'm going to do is probably throw some power on this thing try to air it up because it is on air suspension and then probably get it with some Forks carefully because if they just throw the forks on the ground right now it's pretty little I'm pretty sure they're gonna scratch everything up so I think let me try to find where the battery is probably underneath the hood or something although even if I can get to though it cuz I start picking it up but doesn't really pick up much so how much hard to find the battery real quick and we'll air it up and go from there alright guys so I found the battery and check out where this thing was hiding first thing they figure out and open this tailgate and bam there's the terminals I don't know well I don't know where the battery is but this is pretty much where you can jump but there's positive and negative so let's hook up a jump box to it and hopefully this thing airs up because it has some pretty bad suspension damage on the front driver's side so hopefully that shock isn't leaking or anything in this thing can come up so let's give it a shot all right we got the jump box hooked up actually ground wasn't working so we had to put it on the tailgate over there but the compressors working so hopefully airs up and actually somebody took the canoe for the air system so I'm not sure how I'm going to be able to pick it up unless it just airs up right now by itself but that just depends on what last setting it was if it was all the way lowered it's not gonna thicken anything up it's probably just pumping hair into the compressor so finger crossed this thing just picks up because other than that I don't know I don't know what we're gonna do next so I'll update you guys here in a few minutes all right we got a second jump box hooked up let's see if this is enough juice for this thing to start it's kind of spinning it spins wounds and once and stops I don't know if I don't know if the jump box is a problem now all right attempt number two it's starting it let's see if this works now nope same thing all right guys we got bigger reinforcements on the way get these two little jump box out our hit boy check this thing out attempt number three [Music] we lost ground let's try it one more time it's almost there it's spinning string pretty good they go ah there she is there she is she is a runner she is a runner and it's not picking up so we definitely need a controller or about to see if there's a way that we can pick it up manually without a deuce of research because I definitely don't want to load it like this I need to get this thing picked up first quick little updates on the air suspension so I actually found a company here in Texas that sells these things and I ordered a lift and had him go pick it up the thing was like 350 bucks and it was about a 50 minute drive each way and just not to waste any more time than we already are trying to figure this thing out I just called the lift had them pick it up and just bring it to me will basically save me an hour so as soon as he gets here he actually should be here in the next few minutes we're gonna try to hook up the controller to the wiring over there and hopefully it picks up the air suspension and we can come in here carefully with the forks pick this thing up place it on our trailer and be on the way so let's wait for him to get here and hopefully this works where you going man there's a tip for you thank you have a good one here it is guys let's go give it a shot all right so I got the controller plugged in he's hooking up the jump box right now so let's see if this thing is going to work all right we got power I don't really know how to operate this thing but I'm assuming like this Oh picking up that side okay that's it rear end look at this thing this is awesome all right I think that's mixed out let's do this and take up the whole front end was awesome all right I think it's maxed out about really going in here anymore well this should be plenty of room now at least there's some some clearance underneath the truck let me just make sure everything is up that one picked up a little bit more I think it needs to generate some air but we're gonna get this thing picked up all the way and let's start loading it up all right perfect so we're sliding the forks basically on the ground and then once they get all completely underneath the truck he's just going to raise it and that's just going to save us from damaging anything underneath it's scratching up all those polished axles and whatever else is polished underneath real professional forklift driver he's putting this thing down like a sleeping baby which it is sleeping right now but it's going to be awake soon [Music] all righty here she is on the trailer nice and easy I don't think we scratched anything underneath so let's wrap this thing up and hit the road guys we made it out to the gas monkey garage and check out their showroom floor unfortunately Richard isn't here he's actually on vacation so didn't get to meet him but I got to meet some of the other monkeys and I can't show you guys what they're doing back here but we just decided to stop by to see maybe they had anything left over for the c10 because we are missing the air controller and like a few other little things they're supposed to be kind of like a leather duffel bag and whatnot so we're just stuff around getting some advice from them some paint code stuff like that so yeah I'll keep you guys updated take a look at this off-road Mustang I think this is one of Richard's personal favorites now this thing is a beast there's a nice big tires you definitely would love taking this thing off road alright guys so we are back here at the gas monkey private tour garage showroom floor and check out all these things they got going on over here some nice cool classic cars and this is actually a really interesting one this is a unmarked without vin nova nor i think this is a production car or whatever the correct term is dodge demon look at this thing this thing is like completely stripped I don't even think there's anything inside of it I guess whenever they crush them or throw them away they take everything and scrap it or whatever and I guess he got different colored body panels and put this thing together but this thing is awesome just left the gas monkey garage and it's only right that we stopped by the gas monkey restaurant and grabbed some food one of the best burgers I had in a while if you guys ever come to this restaurant you guys should try the El Jefe but this truck is definitely getting some attention literally every person that is pulling out here is either stopping to take a picture or pointing at this thing but it's finally time to hit the road alright guys so we have finally made it out to Georgia and we just filled up for the 91 dollars in this thing almost 32 gallons and we got about nearly three hours left so stop to get some fuel and check up on the truck make sure everything has strapped and we don't lose this baby but I can't wait to finally get it into the shop and start tearing this thing down really really excited about this build so I'll see you guys at the shop short finally made it to the shop current time is 253 a.m. and the trip back was 981 miles and hauling that truck we were getting twelve point seven mpg it is the next morning here now let's try to figure out how to unload this thing originally I was just going to pull it to the end and grab it with the forklift like I usually do but this door edge trim or whatever this thing is called sticks out past the frame so whenever I'm gonna pick it up with the forks it's going to bend it so not going to do it that way so I thinking about just driving it off so I put a little wheel dolly on the driver's side and hopefully it will just roll right off but I don't know how it's gonna be when we get to the ramps but I guess we'll just how it figure it out so let's give it a shot [Music] that ramp needs to go that way hold on [Music] alright go ahead Hey that's low [Music] yeah I'm good all right go ahead slowly [Applause] Oh all right now here it is finally got it unloaded the suspension was definitely giving me a hard time especially coming off this ramp but we finally got it unloaded now let's finally check this thing out actually guys before we start taking a look at the damage I'm gonna go ahead and put the truck in my area over here where I start working on stuff so I'm go ahead and grab the forklift pick this thing up and hopefully it will pick it up cuz this truck is pretty long and heavy so let's try to move it over here get that cold start for you guys just as I predicted it would have left up the rear end because I knew this thing was gonna be too long it probably got to about a third of the frame but not enough to get it to at least half so it would pick up the rear end even though the front end is much heavier because the engine is here not much stuff is in the back but it still won't pick up the truck so I guess we're gonna have to try a different method alright so as you guys seen I tried to lift it with the forklift and I couldn't get it because obviously the truck is too long so I'm actually just going to leave it here for now and I'll order some of those wheel dollies and I'll put them under the wheels and then we'll move it into the area but before everyone starts asking on how I got my hands on this rare exclusive truck it was for my good friends at 7400 most of their vehicles are purchased directly from insurance and leasing companies so you never have to worry about your car being rigged up they take the risk out on buying damaged vehicles and are very transparent with the damage on them if you guys have any question about the damage they will be more than happy to answer them they have the best prices in inventory you can't find anywhere else such as the 76 c10 my 2019 Denali and the 2017 NSX so if you guys are interested in getting your own project head over to 74 Auto comm and get yourself a project today now let's check out the damage on the truck so starting with the front driver corner this is where pretty much most of the impact happened and if I understood correctly I think somebody cut off the driver and he swerved in I think he swerved into a barrier on the highway so this is where most of the damage took place and I don't know if the frame is damaged or not but just by taking a look at this front end I'm pretty sure there's going to be some sort of framed image hopefully it's not too bad but we won't know until I start tearing apart the front end so starting with this corner obviously the fender is pretty much destroyed I might have to get a new one the hood is also destroyed headlights bumper grille everything pretty much in the front is going to need to be replaced the only thing I think that survived is the cooling system I believe the coolant was topped off and nothing was leaking and I'm pretty sure the a/c condenser is good as well there's not much damage up here is pretty much everything in this corner and then whenever they were forking the truck onto the trailer I got a sneak peek at the suspension and most of the components are like ripped out over here and damaged but we'll take a closer look of that when we start tearing the truck apart and take a look at what else is damaged down there passenger side fenders damaged the only thing that survived is pretty much this headlight and that turn signal and then we got a big dent here I don't know how that happened and then the hood messed it up over here and along with the door so I have to get a new fender as well door is in pretty decent shape might be savable there's like a bend or a crease right here on the edge but other than that no other additional damage on the door bed is in really good shape as well except for the cab over here it looks like the bed or the cab bounced off of each other and it caused like a ding here and then some body filler cracked over here some have to figure that out and then also you can tell that either the bed or the cab is really shifted because as you can see it's a pretty tight line here and then if you look down it gets way wider on the other end and I'll show you guys the perspective from the other side as well rear end looks good as well no additional damage here driver's side of the bed looks in good condition as well and then here is the gap between the bed and the cab on this look at this probably a good I don't know I'd say two inches in the other side is probably like a quarter-inch so I'm have to figure out what shifted either the bed or the cab I'm assuming it is the cab since it took damage here in the front driver corner and probably the fender in the hood and whatnot probably moved this cab because as you can see the hood like bounced off of the frame of the cab over here so I'm pretty sure it was a pretty hard impact especially with this truck weighing how much it weighs I'm pretty sure it was the cab that shifted now let's check out what's under the hood of this beauty so right off the bat as you guys can see we got a big ole ls7 motor in here and from the information that I received from the monkeys and watching the episodes on this build this is a crate motor meaning this thing was brand-new and as you guys can see there is a few mods on it that we can see got some fuel rails injectors and if I remember correctly this thing is also kamd it's got some upgraded Pistons and rods and all that so this thing is making I think 600 something horsepower know if it's to the wheels or crank but it is definitely making some high horsepower and then the damage underneath here there's not much stuff that is damaged the only thing that I can see is damage it's pretty much this intake here and when I was watching the show I believe that custom fabricated this thing so I'm gonna have to figure out how to make another one or maybe see if somebody sells one like this but we'll get that figure out but other than that cooling system and everything else appears to be good so that is a good sign finally on to the last piece the interior and I can't open these doors because both of these doors are hitting the fenders and I definitely don't want to cause any more damage than there already is on this truck but check out this interior nice beautiful leather interior and if I remember correctly they spent anywhere from ten to twenty thousand dollars I think and it definitely shows it because this thing is stitched up and put together really really nicely and has some really high-quality leather in it and then they also got these gas monkey garage like metal plaques in this the really nice finishing touch but other than that interior is in excellent shape and then they have this nice I don't know if this is suede or leather but the headliner on this thing is really nice as well pretty simple dashboard I must say I don't even think there's a radio in this thing it does have a/c and heat so that's a good thing and other than that yeah I think that's the only thing it has no radio in here which I'm surprised Richard didn't throw a radio in here and then they also have the matching wheel with the actual wheels on this car the same brand and the spokes on the steering wheel is the exact same ones that are on the car as well I'm not sure how they got their hands on that but that's a pretty cool finishing touch as well so yeah that is pretty much the overview of all of the damage it doesn't look too bad from this angle even though the whole front end looks like it's shifted this way if you can see the fender it's like sticking out probably a foot past the door basically the whole front end is like shifted like this so hopefully it's not too bad once we start tearing it apart but we won't know until we do so and actually one more thing I wanted to show you guys when we were at the gas monkey garage I got a chance to meet the crew and we hung out with them for a little bit and they also gave me a gift this is actually the original paint from this truck that they used to paint back and I think it was 2014 or 2015 and I even got most of the monkeys to sign this paint can so that is really awesome and then I also made a deal with one of the monkeys they're actually going to be participating on this build I'm not going to spoil it just yet just in case it falls through but fingers crossed he goes through with it and it's going to be really awesome so stay tuned yes that is going to be it for this video guys I am going to get some wheel dollies ordered for this truck so I can move it into my workspace area over here we're going to get this thing into surgery and start tearing it apart and see what else we can find but if you guys enjoyed this video don't forget to hit that like button and drop a comment down below and you guys can also follow me on
