hey here's steve morris engines i'm steve this is a old school small box chevrolet and this is what we're making our stage one small block chevrolet package for so so for all you guys are sick and tired of seeing the ls and everything we can still do this with a small black chevy not only can we do it with a small block chevrolet uh in a nice easy street car for them we can do a blow through carburetor now we do have efi now the carburetor works great it still works like a carburetor okay so we can fix a lot of little things we can do a lot of little stuff with efi we don't do it with a sniper that would be full-blown efi or a carburetor we're not gonna do a sniper throttle body don't even ask us so uh we can do it full efi uh and it picks up a little bit here there you know just some drivability stuff it is not uh horsepower gain to go efi over carburetor in fact a lot of times it could be a little bit less if you'd like to know about that you can i'll probably do a steep tech video on that and explain that to you but anyways the uh um this is this particular engine is 372 cubic inches which is a really nice combination so that means it has a 3 480 stroke crankshaft which is stock stroke good crankshaft obviously i think this one's a fact you know this one's a molnar and that has our basically our rotating assembly you know with the pistons the rods uh this compression ratio on this you know we set this up at nine and a half to one because this is a pump gas motor so not only is this pump gas it's pump gas non-air cooled uh below through carburetor so uh has a nice uh you know it's a dart block so it's a really good piece for 125 or 3 480 stroke makes 372 and a really nice little setup with a dart uh 227 head yep for the dart 227 head and we can do it with the afr's or build some other options for it and uh the other big option that we have for oh i'm sorry this is a solid roller so this but this is a solid roller street type setup and you'll see that it makes a lot of rpm so it is a little bit different in the than the ls stuff in that you never unless you just spent an astronomical amount of time and effort trying to make hydraulic roller work in a small black chevrolet uh with high rpm they don't rpm like an ls does with a hydraulic but these things with a solid with our profile stuff are super reliable i mean it's all our drag week stuff so i mean they go you know hundreds of miles without even checking the valve latch on and that's just what they do and uh they last really well i mean that's it's a nice easy thing still a high rpm conventional small block chevrolet so the other big assessor or big thing that we have for them is right over here you go to our website and we have up and we'll have up a complete accessory drive for this serpentine f1a 94 kit so our serpentine accessory drive kit has power steering alternator and ac all over here on this side with mechanical water pump so a true deal uh street car deal just like drop in plug and play hook up to your old small block chevrolet headers and rock and roll so really nice easy deal like i said it is a pro charger f1a 94 which is good blower you're gonna end up having your filter on here so super easy or super simple nothing's really easy but it's super super simple you know msd distributor this one has a digital six box so we can do a little bit of timing curves in it the way i'm dynoing it i just dyno it with a straight timing curve because we don't we're not looking for a whole bunch of torque on the bottom where we would have more timing and then taking timing out so i run it with all the timing out so uh because they just make enough horsepower in the streetcar application i really don't care but in the digital uh msd6 we will put a little bit of timing curve in it still take timing out so i'm just explaining to you that i already am running this with all timing out so it would make more torque now that sorry torque's wrong term uh it would make more lower end horsepower if i put the timing in it but uh we're not going to do that because it's not really necessary and it also keeps it safer because on pump gas loading real hard with a bunch of timing trying to make a whole bunch more horsepower than what you need to that's the real danger area down there below peak torque throwing timing at it excuse me so anyways i'm gonna go out and uh make a hit on this thing and we'll talk about a little bit more [Music] [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Music] all right so let's take a look at the numbers now this is on straight out pump gas and uh this is a nice easy uh safe tune-up right here that is 1022 horsepower at 7 500 rpm and it's still climbing up here it actually probably it'll you know you can start seeing that the torque starts rolling over and starts going down so this is the nature of all things centrifugal blower it's continuing to build boost up through here and we're not really leaning on it super hard um so it would probably you know if i ran it up to 7 800 maybe even i don't like to run it up to 8 000 but probably it would run up there you know it would be in the range of uh probably fifty or so but right through here you know 10 22 torque 737 you can see torque is starts out way down here at 3500 at uh 531 foot-pounds of torque uh you know it's right up to 700 and then just really stays up there flat all the way from basically 5 000 all the way to 7 500 so but real nice that is a really super nice easy um uh you know torque curve there now let me show you the boost here and go here make report uh this is our afr so this one over here is reading a little bit off i already determined that that was a little bit on the reed and rich side where it's saying that's in the 12 3 area it's actually at 12 5 12 6 areas where it it's at but if we go all the way down here our maximum boost was 15 pounds of boost so right there at 15 pounds of boost at six at the 7 500 rpm uh you can see right down there or 7 600 rpm 15 pounds of boost right there so what we're going to do now is i'll go in there now this is on straight out pump gas so we go in there i'm going to put a race gas mix in it and throw a little bit of timing at it and then we'll make a pull and i'll show you those numbers all right so what i actually ended up doing is and i can explain this just a little bit uh pump gas properly tuned if you just put in race gas and add timing you have to add the timing just to make the race gas burn at the same rate as the pump gas so think about that for a while so anyways minimal horsepower difference in between just putting race gas in it and adding some timing because it already had the proper tune with pump gas so it's like you know what to make more horsepower realistically what i need to do is leave the same tune up in it change pulley and add fuel to it so that's what we did let me go out here make a pull i'll show your numbers [Music] [Music] so all right and if you ever watch watch a lot of our videos i'll tell you every once in a while that's the way the dyno absorb or the absorber hits the the engine when i pull back in the throttle and makes it stall which is no big deal don't really care shut the fan off here so what we did was just do a pulley change add some add some race gas mix to it and we just made uh and you can still see it's still climbing up here because it's still happy so but we're just going to kind of lay it or chop it off right there but uh 1143 at 7 500 rpm so it's just a pulley change add some octane to it and uh keeping the same tune uh everything the same same carburetor same ignition timing just add boost and add well it adds fuel but or i'm sorry add boost and add octane and carburetors take care of themselves within reason and let's see what we made for boost here comparatively speaking so i made four more pounds of boost we start running out of that blower starts starts getting to a little bit of a point where it's there you can see right here 19 pounds of boost is what made it 7500 versus 15 before so real nice solid piece 804 on torque real flat broad right out there i think this is going to be a real good deal this particular engine is for john boardman and is a gen 2 camaro so like i said keeping an old school small black chevrolet easy thousand horsepower on pump and change of pulley and you know eleven fifty ish on uh race gas anyways i'm steve morris seymour's engines have a great day
