Far back as I can remember loved being around children even when I was a child my self. So, I think for me going into a career with children was always set from very young. It was just when I grow up I'm going to be a Norland nanny. It was the first childcare training college in the world that was set up. So the founder Emily Ward established it because she felt quite strongly that looking after young children required a lot of knowledge and skills and so she set up this training college for nannies. I really enjoyed my time at Norland, I think, you know, coming to a college where everything is just focused on childcare and children and working with children that made me realize that how valuable my training was because rather than working with just one family I worked with lotsof different families on a daily basis and you'll come across a situation where you think oh, I don't know, this is different and all of the sudden all of your knowledge will come flooding back and you can apply it. So, for me I think that was maybe the biggest surprise is you just never know what... what skills you're gonna need when you're working with children and families. Everyone is here for pretty much a very similar reason and they want to be part of Norland, they want to be part of Noland's history and I wanted to be the best of the best and I think by coming to Norland you're doing that and you're you're training to be one of those people We're not trying to turn them into James Bond or bodyguards or anything but what we're trying to do is raise their awareness and insights into how to prevent or be alert to potential challenges or events that might occur. The child is always at the front and foremost of what we do and it is important so being aware of of your surrounding environment to keep the children safe and provide the best environment for them is really important. The world is changing and we try and keep up and change with it but that's what I think makes Norland very unique I think being a nanny is so unique to other jobs in childcare because you play such a big important role in making sure that those children develop in the way that they should and in line with how they should be developing that I think that it's just a really rewarding job, and I would like to guide the next generation on their way.
