And I know that it’s been a while that I’ve taken a break from Youtube… Like maybe, I think it was four months ago since I’ve last uploaded content here on my Youtube channel. I took a short break and replenished my creative juices and now, I am more than excited to be back because I am collaborating with one of the best artists I’ve been working with in the industry… None other than… the very dope director who helmed our ‘Thank God I Found You’ video - a collaboration between BuDaKhel and Katrina Velarde … the one and only Direk [Director] Edrex Clyde Sanchez. Let’s go, Direk! So here we are, our tandem is back with new content for my Youtube channel - which will be eight episodes. Watch out for that – weekly. And this is ‘Reacting to Reactors’ Reactions while Reacting to My Videos here on Youtube’. Direk, it seems like the title is longer than the actual video. And to start off, let’s do my reaction to the reactions to ‘One Sweet Day’ by BuDaKhel and Katrina Velarde. So there, that is one of the reasons why Khel – I don’t know if it’s in all our collaborations, but almost all, as far as I can recall – I always put Khel in for the first verse, the first line. Because from their reactions, Khel’s voice is different. His voice has that quality that when you hear it, even when he’s not doing much yet, your attention is immediately captured. So, it’s thrilling to see their reactions to Khel’s vocals – which is really different, there is this magic about it. He’s not doing anything much yet but heads turn upon hearing his voice – “Who’s that singing? He’s great!” So, that’s why, as much as possible, Khel goes in first – so that the audience’s attention is immediately captured. Bubs and Doe! Tyra! These guys are wacky! As I recall, this is our first collaboration with Katrina Velarde. The reason why I thought of doing this One Sweet Day collab was because at that time, Mariah was going to have a concert here in the Philippines. So I said to Khel and Bugoy ‘Let’s make a cover of a Mariah Carey song’ and I felt that it was really relevant because she was coming over here. So when we were thinking of a good song. I thought that it would be great – and for a change, since people were used to just the three of us - to add one more artist. And I said ‘Let’s do One Sweet Day’. And when Katrina Velarde’s name came up, all of us said ‘Game! She’s the one!’ So, this is the first collab of BuDaKhel with Katrina and we were all happy with how our collab came out. Since Day 1 of our recording - my first time to meet with Kat at the studio; I’ve been seeing her before at some events but this was my first time to be with her in the studio (my studio then in La Loma); Bugoy was there, too; Khel did his recording at his studio - the rapport was immediately on another level. It’s as if the artistry of each one of us jibed all at once. That’s why this One Sweet Day collab is one of those, I would say ‘trophies’ on my Youtube channel. And up till now, whenever I watch the reactions to One Sweet Day, it’s very fulfilling and is a very huge blessing for me. And hopefully, also for the artists who were with me in this collab. Let’s go, Bugs! Bugoy made many feel giddy with this – they said he looks like Derek Ramsey here. Ovela and M-Angel! They said ‘Oh my Bugoy!’ OMB! Oh my Bugoy! Let’s go! The story of that riff Bugoy did … {riffs} … what I can recall is that it was accidental. We were still making a draft of what he would be doing with that line for him to record and I just happened to click on the record button - so that riff was captured. {riffs} And then he did another riff which was cleaner and had a different pattern but when we were listening to those, we agreed when I said ‘Bugs, this one is beautiful. Even if this one you did is a practice take, it’s different’ and Bugoy also liked it when he listened to it. He liked the practice take more. So we decided that it would be the one to be put in. That’s why we’re super delighted when we see the reactor’s reactions to that line –
because our hunch about putting that in was on point. Oh my Bugoy! Hey, they said ‘Chris Brown’, Bugs. Waleska and Efra! Pinoy power! They’re so wacky. He called me a kid. So, I’m still looking young. Thank you so much! Actually, I was a bit pressured with that bridge part because One Sweet Day is iconic and that bridge is one of those highly-anticipated portions. So, it was a challenge for me how I would reconstruct the melody of the bridge part while still being respectful to the original melody. So, I’m happy that many have been appreciating what I’ve done with it. Thank you so much to our reactors! Let’s go, kap! [sister] Kat is really so super… It even got Ate [sister] whistling.
Thank you! Tyra Simmons! That part right there – that’s also one of the more awaited parts from One Sweet Day. Sister was stunned. And there ends our reaction to the reaction of the reactors to our cover of One Sweet Day. It’s delightful, it’s flattering and -- it motivates even more to keep on creating great content for Youtube. And this is also my way of saying ‘thank you’ to all of those reactors who are reacting to our videos. It’s such a big help for us artists. What you’re doing is helping us reach a wider audience globally specially now with the pandemic around where a lot of people are focused on social media… many are watching on Youtube. Your reaction videos have a huge impact on our contents uploaded on Youtube. That’s why, from the bottom of my heart, thank you very much, God bless you all.
