what's up guys welcome to daily dose of Reddit this is your host Zach and today's subredditizarre choosing Beggars alright this story is called crazy lady doesn't understand why she didn't get the bonus I earned and then refuses to accept the power of no I was scrolling through Facebook when I saw a post about a woman screwing over a family on a local buy swap group there's always loads of these types of posts and I'm never usually interested but I recognize this woman's name a few years ago I worked in a call center for a major mobile phone provider in the UK and the incoming upgrades Department people rang in with queries and we had to try to get them to upgrade or people who wanted to upgrade Rank and we upgraded them Nicole was an all right person for all of a month while working there she asked me to cover her shift so she could hold her father's hand as he lay dying in the hospital and I agreed so I didn't end up looking and feeling like a jerk the day comes where I cover her her shift and on my way to work I get a text offer with her phone login details each employee has an eight number long code that was unique to them to log into the phones and computers to take calls and input customer data I thought it was weird that she texted to me but ignored it I had a fantastic day that day for upgrades I managed to get 16 upgrades two accessories and three new lines which made me eligible for that month's bonus I was made up Nicole returns to work and asked me how the Sunday shift went she never thanked me so I told her I had a top day and got that month's bonus in one day she was extremely excited for me or so I thought the day that payslips were released Nicole came to my computer to ask why the bonus wasn't showing up on her payslip I told her it was on my payslip because I was the one who earned it and she says Oh I thought you were using my phone because it was my shift that's all right I'll just take half it do you want my bank details and you can transfer it wow just wow no Nicole I'm not giving you crap and she turned on me something awful calling me a horrible bimbo and cursing my family for keeping her money from her so I took it to my team leader and Nicole apologizes and then the next day asked me for a quarter of the bonus for letting me cover her shift and have that great day she gets affirm no but decides that must mean I'll accept buying her dinner for a fortnight because it's the least I can do and the least she deserves her words not mine she let me know this when she added craploads of food to her order and got five drinks and told the lady that I'd pay she even tried walking off with her tray she got shouted back by at least five people and I finally told her to step off or I'll go to HR what the frick tack dude if you want a bonus you earn it it was it's not like we're socialists we don't just hand these things out like freaking rec league trophies all right this story is called women wanted a free table and chairs or I thought mine's not terrible compared to some of these nightmares but kind of a really my wife is always on those Facebook free items Pages where people in need can ask or offer something up for free so apparently someone was in desperate need of a kitchen table went on about how she needs a place for all her kids to do their homework while she cooks meals or something we had just bought a new kitchen table and chairs when we redid our kitchen but the others were in decent shape and we kept them in the garage we were gonna donate them or have a tag sale so my wife offered this woman our old kitchen table and chairs not only that she graciously offered my services to deliver them I drive a pickup truck if you like hearing from friends out of the blue on the weekend to help with something buy a pickup truck honestly it's true my dad has used so many people pickup trucks so I forced my son to actually get dressed on a Saturday morning before noon and we Tetris the four chairs and table into the back of the truck and drove to the next town over we mask up get out of the truck she seems grateful but looks at the chairs and says she's going to keep looking for chairs but the table she'll take I don't want the chairs I I don't like them um okay my son was smiling because he thought he was going to get to see me WWE a chair on a woman so we dry four chairs to the Goodwill with me muttering like the dad in A Christmas Story the whole way we got home and I let my wife know never again nope I'm done well until the next time she needs me to do something because that's what husbands do that's a cute story that woman sucked though that's a cute story very like TV sitcom family-esque or uh or maybe even a movie I like it alright this story is called choosing beggar gets a free car by a miracle then asked to sell it back my parents are very active in charity work and have recently befriended a refugee couple from a very hostile and dangerous place the couple are basically decent people but not very wise and are constantly in financial trouble despite both having decent jobs recently they had car trouble and the couple asked my parents to please pray for them that somebody would give them a vehicle for free these prayers were offered and believe it or not were answered an acquaintance contacted my parents out of the blue and said unprompted that he had just upgraded to a new car and would like to give his old one to someone who is in need my parents charitable activities are well known and this kind of thing has happened before although not with anything as expensive as a car The Giver would not only donate the car free of charge but would pay any fees to transfer the title and would even have the vehicle looked at by a mechanic and pay to repair any problems with it and all of this was done and the car was turned over to the couple tuned like a violin after about a week of driving the vehicle the woman contacted my mother and wanted to know if she or the original donor would be interested in buying the vehicle back a price was suggested that exceeds the likely value of the vehicle although the woman was careful to specify that she would be open to negotiations and having been turned down with no excessive politeness then went on to ask her advice with respect to another car she is considering purchasing for sixteen thousand dollars which would be entirely debt financed so my parents are bitterly hurt and embarrassed and the original donor is furious and the only Silver Lining is that I'm probably going to end up with the car do you believe in miracles damn um another man's trash is another person's trash but another person's treasure dude turns down a free freaking car man and even if you wanted to sell it why would you try to sell it back to the person who gave it to you for free that is messed up aroni and cheese cheese I tell you cheese green moose rubber Goose this story is called large fries chocolate shake odd parrots Fairly Odd Parents I've done this before in a video but I don't care I see large fries in the title I have to take it retcon the last time I did that joke big thing whatever you want to call it well anyways this was my first semester going to college fall 29th dude there is a burger joint that I like to splurge on once a week since my fun money is around 20 bucks anyways I was walking over to the Burger Joint from my dorm when I met choosing beggar who stopped me and explained how he just got out of prison and was really hungry I was an idiot for believing choosing Beggar's story of how he just got out of prison it was starving choosing beggar told me he just wanted a one patty burger and small fries would have been around 9.50 what uh I guess some places the way the Burger Joint works is kind of like subway where you pick what's on your burger and it can range from 6 to 12 bucks and the fries are three to five bucks depending on the size I didn't have cash and I don't know what choosing beggar wanted on the burger so I just told the cashier I'll cover choosing Beggar's order but needed a printed receipt on both orders after choosing beggar decided to pick take out and walked out which was fine by me but when I got the receipt I was mad to find out that choosing beggar decided to get a two Patty bacon cheeseburger and large fries with the grilled cheese for himself when he told me he just wanted a one patty burger with small fries which we agreed on I was already a bit reluctant on seeing a bill for 25 but when that sucker was pushing 35 dollars I was mad I pretty much forgot about this until last Saturday when I decided to go back to the burger joint with my friend and choosing beggar came up to us and started to ask us for money because he just got out of prison what a coincidence in the end I feel bad for choosing beggar for being poor but I'm mad that choosing beggar is just abusing other people's trust to survive I know I sound spoiled as Frick getting mad over ten dollars but I'm just pissed about being lied to not once but twice yeah if he just kept it to one time it would have been fine but he had to do it twice Ah that's messed up I uh 100 can understand and see and honestly agree with op's perspective uh yes to some people he would sound spoiled all right Believe It or Not uh honestly like when the stakes are higher what people become okay with and what people Resort or end up doing uh it's just mind-boggling like for instance imagine you've been inside all day you know chilling chilling chilling and then um you're you're eating a sandwich all right you drop the sandwich on the floor I mean I'll eat it because I I don't give it crap but a lot of people would be like touch the floor across and so they tossed it feed it to their goldfish I don't know what people do with sandwiches besides eat them anyway uh but if you're say like in a survival situation you drop your your freaking sandwich on the ground you're not gonna care you're just gonna eat it and you can eat a bit of dirt it's not gonna kill you I mean don't quote me on that but you can consume dirt and you'll be fine your body will just poop it out but the thing is um you might think deceiving someone to get you know an extra 10 15 bucks worth of a meal is smashed up and yes it is but to them it's just a means to live and a lot of people in a similar situation would probably not see much of a problem therein lies the assumption that you know just because they're better off than you doesn't mean they're well off it sucks the world is the way it is I wish there were alternatives for people that make it easier for anyone to get food that they need to survive unless that dude was just scamming for fun that happens all the time all right this story is called how I lost my best friend of 16 years I used to live 10 minutes away from my best friend I didn't have my license but I did have a job my best friend would come over to my house all the time then I moved a further 10 minutes away this meant I was now a 20-minute drive from her house and six months she never visited me kept telling me to catch the bus to them since I catch it to work fair point but there was no easy bus route and it would end up taking an hour to get there obviously I could have made this effort but they also could have made the effort to drive to me anyway it gets to my birthday and they say it's your birthday I want to come see you and I said okay I'm looking forward to it and they said I will need fuel money I was never going to pay but I curiously asked how much and they said ten dollars now I know that isn't a lot but I only made 80 dollars a week so it was a lot for me the begging part comes in when I rejected her request and she started going off all I one is to see my best friend for her birthday you are being so selfish I'm offering to take you out for your birthday and you won't even let me see you I thought there was a misunderstanding I said oh do you mean you need ten dollars for us to go out and she said no the ten dollars just for me to drive to you I will obviously pay to take you out because it's your birthday I'm not paying you ten dollars to come visit me you're making it sound like I have to pay you to hang out with me no but you should pay for my fuel for the drive I only live an extra 10 minutes away she said no it's actually 12. to cut the story shorts she continued to go off about how selfish I was that I wouldn't even let her see me on my birthday at it they were living at their parents paid no expenses or rent this event happened three years ago their parents bought them the car in question ah see that's that's not cool like if they're really your friends they really shouldn't freaking care about a 20-minute drive to hang out with you obviously really it does get annoying like I can imagine getting annoying uh after a while but you know that's not something that actual friend would care about if we're being honest obviously you should make some effort to come see them whenever you can you know to make it seem like you're putting in an effort as well but she's not even willing to drive to you which is easier for she's making you pay on your birthday that's not cool not a cool friend Zach says dumper alright this story is called sister-in-law wanted expensive prescriptions my youngest brother and his wife got into some serious financial problems because of his wife's medical issues his wife I'll call her Tammy Faye because of the amount of makeup she wore was on several kinds of generic medications that she took three times a day my daughter and son-in-law are Pharmacists and own their own store at the time so I asked if they could give Tammy Faye her prescriptions at cost and I would pay for them they agreed and had the prescriptions transferred from the old Pharmacy a few days later my son-in-law got a fact from the doctor's office with all brand name prescriptions which would have cost me a small fortune he called the doctor's office to find out why the change from generic three times a day meds to once a day extended release mats the office explained that Tammy Faye requested a change because she couldn't remember to take her meds three times a day he was pissed he told the office that I his mother-in-law was paying for these meds and that I couldn't afford all those brand name meds the doctor's office called Tammy Faye and told them that they were changing her back to the generic meds now Tammy Faye was pissed she called my son-in-law and cussed him out for calling her doctor he told Tammy Faye that he was filling her prescriptions as a courtesy to me and that he didn't have to fill her prescriptions he immediately transferred the new brand name prescriptions to the previous Pharmacy and washed his hands of her I let my brother know what his wife tried to pull and he was not not happy with her I have other Tammy Faye stories if anyone is interested damn the audacity some people need to realize that just because you suffered doesn't mean others need to suffer too man if only I could explain that logic to car crashes alright this story is called choosing beggar wanted to sell me a used dresser I already had twist was it wasn't his long it's not long about five years ago I lived in an apartment complex with multiple buildings and one of my neighbors had just moved in they left Furniture behind on the front lawn chairs tables Etc one piece was a newish dresser only missing two drawers wasn't a problem was gonna remove the side brackets and make it a cubby for board games as I intended for it to hold my TV anyway the problem came a few days later I waited three days for the original owners to come back and pick up their stuff but when they didn't I took the dresser and moved it to my patio I left it on the patio that day and the next day I sprayed it down with bug spray there were a few roaches and had to wait till the next day to bring it inside that very day a couple came to my patio looking at the dresser I saw them and worried it was the original owners I asked if it was theirs they said no but we saw it on the lawn and we're gonna take it I said I was sorry but I waited three days and no one took it so it's mine now to which one of the men replied when we were gonna take it fix it up and sell it in our thrift shop again I apologize but tell them I've already sprayed it for pests and cleaned it off I wasn't willing to give it away now well we were gonna sell it for 20 to 25 bucks if you think that's fair I'm so confused at this point until it dawned on me they wanted me to pay them twenty dollars for a dresser they were going to take to their used thrift shop after I already claimed and cleaned it I just plainly state that I will not pay them for this discarded dresser I already clay well just to let you know you can't have furniture on your patio like that so property management will take it away I move the dresser into my apartment the next day but also got a call from the property manager asking if I could remove my dresser from the patio as it was violating my lease I calmly explain the situation and how the dresser was already moved into the apartment and off the patio but that guy really had the nerve to call the property manager and report me for not paying him for a dresser I already claim ah that is freaking weird honestly I'd be kind of creeped out I don't know why I think I just I've seen too many like crime movies and like in crime shows and stuff to where I think any like in a story like this I just think that people are going to be hostile and just try to freaking muscle the dresser off of op I just assumed that's where that was going like through intimidation man it's messed up that's how the world is I mean obviously not in this case but it is enough to where it inspires crime dramas and stuff hey good Fellas you think a wise guy like put a wise guy guy in place of the the dudes trying to take the dresser you think that's gonna happen no they're gonna get hurt op be careful but stand your ground too but also be careful but
