okay so where are you gonna eat at disney's animal kingdom and are you making the right choices well let's find out today here on dfb guide [Music] hey everybody it's aj for disney food blog today we're ranking every single one of disney's animal kingdom restaurants ranging from table service to fast food to even the side kiosks you may have overlooked during your last visit because honestly a lot of them are closed but for my ranking system i'll be giving each restaurant a score out of 10. but along with that score i'll also be listing the pros and cons for each place that way even if i'm not too keen on one of the entries on this list you can see for yourself if it might still be a good place for you and your group to try during your visit there are a ton of entries on this list so if you want a pdf of all the rankings to refer to later drop us your email over at disney foodblog.com every dak this is going to get you all signed up for our free newsletter so you can catch our most recent restaurant reviews and news and you're gonna get the pdf of all of these rankings right in your inbox all right so we're going alphabetically through all of these but they will all get a ranking so here we go starting with a nandapur ice cream truck tasty sweet treats beautiful art that i find myself thinking about for days after definitely a win-win this anandapur ice cream truck is a quick service ice cream stop located in the asia section of the park it's got super bright colors imaginative designs they reflect the types of artwork you might find on food trucks in india now this is more of an order and keep moving right along location there's no seating around the food truck so you have to take your cone or cup of soft serve to go but the really cool thing about this truck is that aside from its standard chocolate and vanilla or swirl soft serve you can also find rotating seasonal options here one of our current favorites is the strawberry and lemon kite tails sunday in celebration of that popular kite show that's taking the animal kingdom skies by storm in the past we've also been able to try options like the green mint for st patrick's day or the peppermint swirl for the holiday season they've also had like a 50th anniversary thing here so depending on when you visit you might find a specialty item be sure to stay tuned to our newsletter to see if we report on any okay so pros for this one great for those looking for unique soft serve options once in a while beautiful artwork on the truck really really pretty to look at but cons for this spot no seating at all very limited menu if you're looking for a bunch of soft serve options in one location you're gonna be disappointed this is mostly gonna be that chocolate vanilla soft serve overall we're gonna give this one a 5 out of 10. okay next on our list is caravan road we almost thought about not including this one because it's not open it's really never open but bless its heart it's still part of the animal kingdom food team so we're gonna include it when caravan road kiosk is open you can find it in asia across from the discovery river the last time this location was available you could order ginger slaw dogs and char soup pork so you know these are nice and different quick service snacks that we appreciate but we just rarely get the chance to order them so pros on this one affordable snacks and unique options cons it's clothes all the time so very limited options from that perspective gonna give this one a 4 out of 10. all right not doing so hot in animal kingdom so far let's move on we're going to creature comforts before we get any further in this list let's just settle the hearts and souls of all the starbucks fans out there this is the starbucks location in the park you can all take a big sigh of relief now creature comforts is located in discovery island although i usually try to dissuade those from relying on their starbucks fix during their disney trip and think a little more outside the box when it comes to caffeine i must say that creature comforts is one of the more unique themed starbucks locations on property for starters the bakery is going to offer up exclusive animal kingdom treats in their bakery case from time to time like the cotton top tamarind cupcake or the pocahontas mousse that we've seen here in the past but another reason this location is special if you order a flat white latte here then a portion of your sale is going to go towards the disney conservation fund's efforts to protect cotton top tamarins pros here exclusive animal kingdom themed bakery items and you can support the tamarinds through your latte order yay for the tamarinds cons most of the menu features basic starbucks options you can find back home and lines for this location can get extremely long here's a tip there's actually two lines for creature comforts one is at the door you come to first when you're coming up to creature comforts from discovery island which is how most people approach it in the morning for their coffee there is also another door and entry that you can reach coming from the africa side of creature comforts a lot of people don't go over there and get in that line they just automatically get in the long line that they see on the discovery island side so head right over to the other side and see if that line is shorter creature comforts you get a 6.5 out of 10. all right number four is the dowa bar if you're at animal kingdom on a particularly busy park day and you just need to escape and unwind the dawa bar in africa might have you covered and not just for alcohol and relaxation there's a literal cover over this one it's attached to the tusker house in animal kingdom and it is an outdoor bar but it does have covered seating there are several specialty cocktails you can choose from here like the tangerine flavored african margarita the nagumu jungle juice made from tusker's famous jungle juice concoction and the rum based lost on safari if you're having a hard time getting into nomad lounge for a drink we're going to talk about nomad lounge in a little bit you can always swing by here for a cocktail or two pros here wide selection of cocktails wines and beers and a great location for adults to take a breather and people watch for a little bit cons not kid friendly strictly alcohol offerings here and no food items are featured currently plus there is seating but it's all outdoors so if it's really really really hot day you're not going to get any good ac at this location overall though i'm going to give dawa a 7 out of 10 mostly for nostalgia but honestly they do have a full bar it's a great option if you just need to sit and chill for a bit okay next on our list is dinobite snacks dinoland usa has a wishy-washy reputation and although dinoland certainly doesn't blow us away with its food options you'll see why later on the dinobite snacks kiosk is on a whole other plane of existence for its ice cream sandwiches alone now i don't know how you feel i really like dinoland usa but i know a lot of people don't like it so we'll have to have a conversation about that later so the standard ice cream cookie sandwich made with vanilla ice cream and served between freshly baked chocolate chip cookies is available year round here but don't sleep on those seasonal ice cream cookies currently you can order a 50th celebration ice cream sandwich which is made with double chocolate chip cookies and celebration sprinkles in the past we've also loved the double chocolate peppermint ice cream sandwich served around christmas and the chocolate strawberry ice cream sandwich served around valentine's day they've also got st patrick's day versions and we've seen a few other holidays as well so pros best ice cream sandwiches ever also serves other sweet treats like hot fudge sundaes and ice cream floats cons here only have two salty options available mickey pretzels and bags of chips and not great for those looking for something more sustaining also seating here is minimal it is right next door to restaurant of soros so you could technically go to restaurantosaurus and sit down to eat but as far as seeding for dinobite snacks specifically there's not a lot and it's not undercover dinobate for your sandwiches i'm going to give you 8 out of 10. next on our list is dino diner not to be confused with dinobite snacks dino diner is another snack location in dinoland usa it's basically in an old fashioned trailer and it serves a couple of savory options as well as raspberry frozen lemonade which can be served spiked or non-alcoholic so if you're looking for an average theme park hot dog then here it is but if you want a snack that's specific to disney world's 50th anniversary celebration you can order the corn chip pie with walt's chili or walt's chili on a cheese dog this spot isn't much of a looker but it does have a few umbrella topped tables that you can sit out while enjoying a quick bite but they're all going to be out in the open pros here shaded seating is available there's not much of it great for those looking for a good old-fashioned park hot dog maybe even one covered in chili so if your kid is in their phase where they will only eat hot dogs and you're an animal kingdom this is where you're gonna go cons limited options and pretty blah theming and not great for those looking for a more adventurous quick meal overall we're gonna give this a six out of ten all right we're heading over to drink walla next so the next time someone in your group complains of being so thirsty then swing and buy the drink while a counter service in asia not only will you find an assortment of bottled sodas and beverages here but you'll also be able to order frozen drinks like coca-cola fanta blue raspberry or a minute made premium lemonade frozen freezy things like slushies or icees and as added fun for the adults you can get spiked frozen coca-colas with your choice of captain morgan original spice drum or jack daniel's tennessee whiskey if you want some munchies to go along with your drinks drink walla also has cinnamon glazed almonds and pecans which are very very good they're one of those things you don't think about getting when you're in the parks but then when you get them you're like wow i'm really glad i got these these are really good anyway though the counter service itself doesn't have any tables inside you can grab a seat in the lower garden area behind drink walla that's going to be all outdoor locations and uncovered seating but it is seating nonetheless and it's kind of a set aside location it's kind of out of the way so it may give a little bit of a respite on super crowded days as well so pros for drink wallet great for those looking for a little something extra to quench their thirst and we could sit all day in the lower garden and just take it all in cons though aside from cinnamon nuts a mickey premium ice cream bar and assorted chips this is not a place to come when you're hungry and there's nothing super unique here you can find frozen drinks at other places around disney world or you know at home so this isn't gonna be a destination spot overall five out of ten okay i've been waiting for this one eight spoon cafe which happens to be number eight on our alphabetical list which i think must be a sign now eight spoon cafe is a quick service kiosk in discovery island that serves up the baked macaroni and cheese with pulled pork that we are always talking about because it's just that good you can also get a regular order of baked mac and cheese here for under five bucks which is a great deal or if you're feeling a little adventurous you can try the jelly donut which is a pulled pork stuffed jelly donut super strange i know but it's not the worst thing we've ever had and they also sometimes have that baked macaroni and cheese with shrimp on top as well so word of warning this kiosk is not open all day long normally it closes around 5 pm so if you want to try one of these items it's best to go sometime in the afternoon though we've often referred to the mac and cheese bowls as snacks because the portions aren't huge they can also sustain you as a full-on meal since they're pretty hearty but maybe avoid ordering something so hot and cheesy when it's extremely hot out or you know you're dehydrated and it's three o'clock in the afternoon even the best cheese pasta dishes can feel heavy and miserable in your stomach against that orlando heat so pros on this one tasty creamy affordable great mac and cheese and the adventurous jelly donut because why not cons though not great for those looking for something light to snack on and it does close early but overall we're going to give this guy a 10 out of 10. we'll eat again always do eat again okay heading to flame tree barbecue next because now we're in the mood for some barbecue so let's keep talking about it although flame tree barbecue quick service also has a pretty tasty pulled pork mac and cheese you can find a larger selection of barbecue options here too and none are stuffed into a jelly donut these options are going to feature what you're more used to when it comes to the barbecue options back home like pulled pork sandwiches ribs and smoked chicken but along with the barbecue you'll also find a selection of specialty drinks both alcoholic and non and some seasonal cupcakes or desserts once in a while if you're looking for something filling but you eat a plant-based diet you're not going to find a whole lot of options available here but there are plenty of choices for those looking for a range of allergy friendly eats so pros here tasty and affordable barbecue seating here is really really interesting you are in covered pavilions but outside and open to the elements so while you will have a roof over your head you are still going to feel all the cold or all the heat of what is happening in the regular outdoors also the pavilions here have a circle of life theme so basically they depict a bunch of animals eating each other which is fascinating and very teachable moment for your children so pros on this one tasty affordable barbecue great for those looking for a hearty meal on a budget and familiar options for pickier eaters cons here not great for those on a plant-based diet and a heavy meal might not be the best for those looking to snack throughout the day straight up if you don't love barbecue you're probably not going to find too much here unless you're sort of picking around the side options and i will say they have a really nice mac and cheese with onion rings here too overall i'm gonna give flametree an eight out of ten oh and for those who've been listening to dfe guide for a long time i guess i should say watching dfp guide for a long time you know how i always used to talk about my birthday fries those french fries topped with pulled pork and plastic cheese those haven't been on the menu since flametree reopened after the 2020 closures i haven't seen them back in a while so fingers crossed they'll be back someday but didn't mention them here because they're not on the menu okay number 10 harambe fruit market don't count this little market out for its teeny tiny size it's got some pretty fun options and some seasonal stuff too the harambe fruit market is in the africa section of the park this is the spot in the park that gives you fresh fruit and healthy snacks every perk has one spot where you can get mostly fresh fruit and healthier options and this includes things like mini baby bell snack cheese little tiny cheese and fruit plates some hummus mandarin oranges stuff like that but there are three reasons why you might want to stop by this location even if you're not looking for maybe super healthy eats the first is the grilled corn on the cob with african spices this is really really good they make it on a grill right there at the fruit market it's not available every single day but if it is you should definitely grab it this is a nice healthier for you super flavorful option your kids are gonna love it too reason number two the house made blueberry muffin with 50th anniversary decor and reason three the simba shaped pretzels when they're available that's right you might get a simba shaped pretzel here instead of a mickey one so pros handful of unique snacks available and also a great place to go if you're looking for something that's not just basically going to weigh you down with a ton of calories and sugar and stuff like that cons though it's very easy to overlook you may not see it you kinda gotta know it's there and there's no seeding you're just gonna have to grab that thing outside and eat it outside overall seven out of ten now the next one's harambe market no you're not seeing double entries on this list the harambe market is totally different from the harambee fruit market aside from the fact that they have basically the same name are both located in africa and each serves you bites in a jiffy there are four distinct serving stations at the harambee market this is basically a fast food location and almost kind of an outdoor food court you've got chef moanga's famous sausages kitamu grill and juan johy refreshments which focuses on cocktails and cold beverages if you're wanting quick service meals that are not only semi-adventurous but healthy you've got a bunch of different rice bowls and salad options here but of course you can counteract that with tasty icing heavy simba cupcakes as well once again this is not a great location if you're looking for a variety of plant-based options but they do have a mediterranean salad and plant-based sausage bowl available all the seating here is outside but some of it is covered and there is plenty of seating i've never been back here and not had a place to sit because i don't think a lot of people even know this place is here so pros on this one unique quick service option that's often overlooked and it's a great spot for those who want something a little bit different from regular theme park fare but aren't necessarily wanting to break too far out of their comfort zone you've got some different spices here you've got some different ingredients from what you're used to but still delicious still recognizable even to your picky eaters cons limited options for plant-based eaters and also fairly limited options for kiddos overall 7 out of 10. next on our list is isle of java is the line over at creature comforts too long then we're going to take a look at some animal kingdom alternatives we got the isle of java over in discovery island this has a small selection of joffrey's coffee options and a menu of alcoholic beverages for a different kind of wake-up call i guess and some pastry options for you to choose from too though the usual coffee offerings here are pretty basic you can find seasonal coffees here as well from time to time and there's also not a whole lot going on at this bakery but that said you can get the tiger tail chocolate twist here which is basically animal kingdom's version of the cheshire cattail pastry you can get over at magic kingdom it's basically a chocolate danish twist situation with some icing on top i think i still prefer the cheshire cattail but the tiger tail is still all things light and flaky and chocolaty for you pros here great coffee alternative for when creature comfort's line is way too long cons not a huge selection overall but it gets the job done we're going to give this one a 6.5 out of 10. next on our list is koosafiri coffee shop and bakery this is another great alternative to creature comforts and it's in africa over by kilimanjaro safaris and tusker house this grab-and-go window location serves up coffee and breakfast in the morning then switches to lunch menus now the whole breakfast menu kind of a big deal here since that's such a limited commodity in animal kingdom so if you're wanting a filling sausage egg and cheese biscuit or a pistachio honey croissant before you start your day off now you know where to find them come lunchtime you'll be able to order unique marinated chicken or pork flatbreads or you can get a spiced potato hand pie now unlike magic kingdom which has an array of options for choosier eaters you'll find places like kusafiri to have more adventurous options so this little midday snack or lunch might not be the best for kiddos or adults who'd prefer something a little more familiar now pros here great for those trying to track down breakfast and there's unique lunch options available cons coffee is served here but you won't have a great variety like you do at other locations and it's not the best lunch option for pickier eaters there's not a lot of seating here and what seating there is is very minimal if they're at all sometimes it's not even there so it's gonna be outdoors maybe just a couple of tables overall seven out of ten okay mahindi is next time for some popcorn if you're looking for a place to get your popcorn bucket refilled for 225 the mahindi cart in africa will gladly take your dollars if you haven't purchased a souvenir bucket for your trip yet you can also do that here or you can just straight up get some buttered popcorn no bucket purchase necessary pros here popcorn cons that's basically it not much else to say about a popcorn cart overall we're gonna give this a 5.5 out of 10 but how exactly do you rank a popcorn cart so i don't know we're sticking with it okay no mad lounge is next deep breath i have to refrain from nomed lounge taking over the script from here on out and turning the rest of this video into a giant love fest for this glorious location nomad is located on discovery island in the same building as the tiffin's restaurant don't worry we've got a lot to say about tiffins too that comes later the proximity to tiffins makes the lounge snacks here really really good because the selection of the small plates you can order are directly from the tiffin's kitchen and menu like the bread service and the secret baked lobster mac and cheese animal kingdom yet again coming in clutch with the mac and cheese but what nomad lounge is really known for is that giant collection of specialty cocktails this isn't just your standard disney lounge menu not a whole lot of magical beacons and blue curacao over here this is unique stuff which is really really nice to see in a disney world lounge tempting tigress is made with 10-year bourbon the night monkey's got rum and guava as well as coffee interestingly the leaping lizard has more rum and fruity flavors now i could keep going but i'll refrain just know there's a lot to choose from and you can drink these fun and fruity beverages inside or out on the comfy cozy patio which is basically a place i want to live for the rest of my life because it's so cool and it overlooks the side of animal kingdom that makes you feel like you've been dropped into a tropical oasis this is a really fun place to be stuck during rainstorms because you just sort of watch everybody out there scurrying around and you're ensconced on this lovely porch super comfortable relaxed you've got your drink it's wonderful now this might sound like it's totally adult-centered but kids are very welcome here there's even a full kids menu for them to order from with main entrees and sides included so sounds too good to be true right well that's how a lot of people feel this lounge can be very tricky to get into because seating is limited you'll have to put your name on a walk-up waitlist that starts at 11am and the waitlist fills up quickly so if you try to put your name on it later in the day it may already be filled up so if this is a must do for you show up early maybe even 15 to 30 minutes before the waitlist officially opens i have definitely stood in line for this lounge before and put your group's name on that list asap pros here great selection of cocktails wines and beers fantastic views tasty small plates for adults and solid lunch options for kids cons walk up wait list has the potential of filling up and filling fast small plates are tasty but don't offer huge variety and it's not the best for less adventurous eaters who also aren't big on the whole cocktail scene i'm going to give this one a 10 out of 10 though because when no med lounge is good it's really really good and it overcomes all the bad all right pete safari what a contrast right let's go on safari but not to see animals to see pizza that's right pizzafari is a quick service location on discovery island that's really cool looking on the inside each of the dining room areas has a fun brightly colored mural painted across the wall reflecting a different type of animal one room showcases animals who use camouflage one features animals who carry their homes on their backs like turtles one features animals who love seeing the world from a whole new perspective aka upside down and one features a bunch of our nocturnal friends the art alone is worth a step inside if you've been watching videos on this channel for a while now though you'll know i'm definitely not the world's biggest fan of the menu here it's the personal puffy pizza that are like 10 toppings and 90 barely cooked dough however if you're trying to find those exact pizzas in the park because you know your kids love them and you need somewhere to go they'll actually eat pizzafari is going to be your place there are a couple of other options that adults can choose from if they agree with me on the whole pillow pizza debate you can also choose a caesar salad or a chicken parm sandwich yeah they didn't say there were a whole lot of other options i just said there are other options so all in all pizza fire is an easy and more affordable meal in animal kingdom it's fast food pretty standard but is pizza fire gonna allow you to try that unique animal kingdom fair that's offered at so many other locations for around the same price range no it's just puffy pizza salad and a sandwich so pros great for kids and other cheesier eaters looking for a familiar meal and those just beautiful murals inside and it's quick and affordable lots of indoor seating too so we're talking a c to the max now cons very standard theme park food options nothing unique or interesting here and it's not great for those more adventurous palettes especially considering what else is available in animal kingdom if you're a pizza snob don't get your hopes too high for the pizza here either overall pizza fire is going to rank a 6 out of 10 for me and most of that 6 is for the ac and the seating next on our list is pongu pongu we haven't talked about any places over in pandora world of avatar yet so let's change that pangu pangu is a counter service location that offers drinks and snacks unique to the area fun fact did you know pangu pangu means party party in the language of the navi yes it has no impact on the offerings but it does mean party party now this is the place where you can try a couple of our favorite snacks first you've got the pineapple cream cheese spring roll the pongolumpia which you can order all day long personally we think it makes a pretty solid breakfast snack before jumping in line for flight of passage but if you're not a fan of the whole battered fruity cream cheese idea like many on the dfb team we're pretty split here you can always order a breakfast sandwich or french toast sticks instead the night blossom frozen drink can be ordered here too which is a layered apple and desert pear limeade topped with passion fruit boba balls since it's non-alcoholic this is a fun and fruity beverage for adults and kiddos alike but by the way you can also add rum to your night blossom if you want to and spike it up a little bit and there's a variety of other alcoholic beverages you can order too including the moira margarita oh and let's not forget the navi size pretzel available for breakfast you know in case that mickey pretzel just isn't cutting it for you now pangu pangu does not have a lot of seating you can sort of go commandeer the statuli canteen seating if you want to but pangu pangu is just a kiosk there's not a lot of seating not a lot of places to enjoy your food and what there is is going to be all outdoors so pros selection of breakfast options available unique and tasty frozen beverages that are more interesting than a frozen coke cons not a place for a substantial meal unless a giant pretzel with beer cheese will do the trick and pongo lumpia is hit or miss for many so let us know if you love it in the comments overall though going to give pangu pangu an 8 out of 10 because of all that uniqueness and also deliciousness all right rainforest cafe is next there really aren't a lot of table service restaurants at animal kingdom and technically you don't have to have a ticket to this park to visit rainforest cafe this restaurant's entrance is outside of the park gates but uh if you're not planning on visiting animal kingdom that day it's probably still easier to eat at the disney springs location of rainforest instead of going all the way out of your way to eat at this one that's actually a big criticism of this restaurant aside from the food being an overpriced rainforest cafe is part of a chain meaning this restaurant isn't unique to the disney property or even unique to orlando many touristy locations feature rainforest cafes so if you're looking to eat somewhere you can't find outside of disney world this table service restaurant is not going to scratch that wanderlust itch for you that being said there's a reason this restaurant is such a popular destination to eat at around the u.s and globally actually it's a ton of fun the restaurant itself is set in a rainforest scene surrounded by animatronic animals like gorillas elephants and boa constrictors and to add to the tropical atmosphere you'll also experience a thunderstorm every so often where the sound of falling rain and thunder claps will accompany the subtle flashing lights and animal freak outs don't worry it's not scary and you won't get showered during your meal but if you have little kids who are scared of thunder and lightning like i was when i was a little kid then this can be a scary place so pros fun rain forest atmosphere good for kids who aren't scared of thunder and lightning and complete with an immersive atmosphere they'll love and a menu of familiar options and a wide variety of menu options are available on the adult menu as well cons not unique to the disney parks menu feels more like a jack of all trades master of none there's a lot going on here and it's all too expensive and the food quality just is not there so overall i'm gonna give rainforest a six out of ten restaurant asaurus is next this dinoland usa restaurant is one of the most difficult restaurant names to spell over and over again or maybe we're just worse at spelling than we thought but aside from that mouthful of a name restaurasaurus is a kitschy quick service fast food location with paleontology theming and lots of quirky decor now this is another one of those locations that's perfect for people looking for more familiar menu items you'll be able to grab burgers nuggets hot dogs cobb salad you know the basics but nothing here is going to knock your socks off flavor-wise that being said there's a lot of seating here it's all indoors and it does have an attached lounge that's available every now and then you can get a variety of cocktails mocktails and specialty bar snacks so pros on this one great for choosy eaters who want a little more menu variety lots of available seating and all the little easter eggs and theming of the restaurant is one of my favorite things to explore in animal kingdom cons the options aren't exciting and aren't going to thrill adventurous eaters it's standard theme park food quality and it can get loud during peak lunch and dinner hours overall i'm going to give restaurant asaurus an 8 out of ten just because it's one of my favorites number twenty is satully canteen back over in pandora you're gonna find a menu celebrating those unique eats to the world of avatar through customizable rice and noodles and cheeseburger pods what i love about satuli is its accessibility not only does it have a range of options for all types of eaters but it also has a range of options to accommodate those looking for plant-based and allergy friendly meals even the dessert here is pretty tasty and different so when i go i like to order both the blueberry cream cheese mousse for fruity dessert and the chocolate dome for a chocolatey dessert i guess that last one was a no-brainer although this location does use the mobile order feature on your my disney experience app that doesn't necessarily mean it's always fast despite its quick service title the restaurant is extremely popular so if you already know you're going to eat here for lunch or dinner then place that mobile order and choose a return time at the beginning of your park day pros for this one great option for those who aren't necessarily completely picky eaters but also aren't necessarily completely adventurous eaters either this is kind of the concept of like a chipotle where you choose your base you choose your protein and you choose your sauce so you can sort of build your own bowls here this is also very high quality quick service dining it's really good food it's fresh food and it's not what you'd expect from a theme park also there's those customizable options you can accommodate lots of different types of eaters as far as seating goes here you've got quite a bit of indoor seating as well so that's good ac to access cons it's not exactly the fastest quick service out there prices here aren't outrageous but they can be pricier than other fast food options in the park and bowls can be too much food so if you're not super hungry you may want to consider splitting one overall though cetuli is going to get a 10 out of 10 from us okay next on our list is this smiling crocodile maybe you shouldn't smile at a crocodile but if the crocodile smiles at you then maybe it's inviting you to grab a tasty treat please don't listen to me that's really not true but in animal kingdom it is true the smiling crocodile is a cute little snack stand on discovery island where you can get your street taco fix the menu has also been known to change time and again to feature seasonal items like a pimento cheese blt we've also seen that wrapped scallion pulled pork jelly donut sandwich over here before currently though this is your one stop spot for tacos in animal kingdom with a fruity tequila based island sunrise to wash it all down pros here hidden taco gem with frequently changing specialty items and is quick and affordable cons usually only has three street tacos to choose from so if you're not a taco fan there really aren't any options for you here and it tends to operate seasonally so it may not be open during your visit there's also no seating around here so it's a grab and go overall we'll give this one a seven out of ten because we like three tacos okay tamu tamu refreshments is next and this is where you're gonna go if you want your dole whip never fear you can get your dole lip fix in animal kingdom and it's at tamutamu it's in the africa section of the park and is the only place that consistently sells dolips in animal kingdom along with a traditional pineapple dollops you can start your hero or villain origin story here depending on which specialty doll whip you order on the side of the good we've got the simba sunset with watermelon strawberry and coconut flavored syrup and on the side of the evil we've got scars lair with sour apple flavored syrup temutamu might be out in the open but it's easy to miss if you're in a hurry to get to kilimanjaro safaris if you do track it down this is another location with quick breakfast offerings and extra seating tucked around the back in the sausage tree area pros for this one dole whip sanctuary and another solid breakfast option cons no lunch or savory snack options here really only frozen treats and drinks and desserts sometimes it's very easy to overlook as well and note that although there is ample seating behind tamutamu it is all outdoors but for this one we're gonna give it a 7.5 out of 10. it's a great spot definitely something that the majority of folks could use during their animal kingdom day and we love that there's all that seating back there it's kind of like a hidden secret seating area that a lot of not a lot of people see okay tara treats is next not much going on over at tara treats right now but there is one thing i gotta say they have better pizza options than pizzafari not saying they have more of a selection but the quality of their pizza is better it's got that deep dish thickness without being completely pillow-worthy is it the best pizza in disney no way but if you like little caesars deep dish pizzas then maybe you'll like these every now and then tara treats will also change up its menu in the past it's had spaghetti and meatballs cupcake as part of the 2019 tasting sampler event and a bunch of gluten-free allergy friendly options but right now it's pizza again this is a kiosk so not a lot of seating if any and i really want to stress that this particular kiosk changes up its menu very very regularly so you may go and there may be no pizza in sight so definitely check the menu for this before you go to disney world if you're watching this video like in the future hello from the past i wonder what the future is like okay pros on this one decent pizza decent price cons pizza is basically it right now aside from the occasional seasonal offerings and this place changes up real regularly and sometimes it's not open there's that too overall i'm gonna give this one a 5 out of 10. okay thirsty river bar after barely escaping the clutches of a yeti on expedition everest legend of the forbidden mountain you might be looking for a way to unwind before your next big adventure and the nearby thirsty river bar is another spot in animal kingdom where you can order a specialty cocktail beer or wine unlike nomad lounge and dawa bar you're gonna have to take your drink to go there's no seating available here and there are a few margarita options you can choose from as well as rum based drinks like the kumbu ice fall and even a mocktail or two like the pink lotus which is a strawberry and lychee lemonade sometimes you'll also be able to grab a snack like one of those animal kingdom exclusive simba pretzels pros on this one wide selection of lounge drinks and i actually i'm pretty sure this is a full bar too and it's great for those who want an adult beverage on the go cons not a lot of kid-friendly options aside from one or two non-alcoholic beverages and the occasional snack and there's no available seating but note i'm gonna talk about something called trek snacks in just a little bit and that's right on the other side of thirsty river bar and that's where you're gonna get your snacks and treats and stuff but that's coming up in a second so thirsty river bar you get a 6.5 out of 10 from us okay next on our alphabetical list is tiffins if you're looking for the signature sit-down restaurant in disney's animal kingdom this is it this is it friends the fancy fancy restaurant tiffins is located in the discovery island section of the park interestingly it's right next to pizzafari which i would consider the worst restaurant in animal kingdom so you can think of this place as a love letter to travel adventure and all things exploration it is pure joe roadie each of tiffin's three dining rooms including the asia themed trek gallery the africa theme safari gallery and the animal art grand gallery have details as intricate as exhibits you'd find in a museum in fact that's what they are they are exhibits so even if you're dining in one location it's still worth checking out the other rooms just to take a look at all the different displays and the decor the food here is delicious and flavorful with unique offerings like the honey glazed pork belly the tamarind braised short rib and that oh so famous bread service but it should be good considering it's very expensive and the portions are kind of small entrees range in price from 30 to 65 bucks which doesn't include drinks appetizers or dessert so if you're at animal kingdom for a romantic night out or you're there for a special occasion this is a solid place to make a reservation but if you're looking for a restaurant that works with your budget a little better there are still plenty of other adventurous options for you to choose from and don't forget nomad lounge which features some of the same small bites from the tiffins menu on their menu too so pros for this one the park's signature dining restaurant which is perfect for special occasions there are beautiful rooms with artifacts and decor that celebrate travelers their stories and also the origins of animal kingdom itself and there are more adventurous offerings on the menu cons here dollar signs baby it is very expensive the menu does have a few more familiar items to choose from but the limited safer options may not be worth the price tag for your family if you've got really picky eaters and it takes a chunk out of your park day to sit down and enjoy this signature meal overall i give tiffins an 8 out of 10 but i know lots of folks are going to give it a 10 out of 10 or a 9 out of 10. so this one's definitely going to be up there at the top of the rankings okay next on our list is trex snacks what i just talked about with thirsty river bar this is literally on the opposite side of thirsty river bar so they're both kind of in the same place this kiosk has your basics popcorn popcorn refills mickey pretzels frozen sweet treats like the mickey's premium bar ice cream sandwich but for some extra pizzazz this cart also has 50th celebration rainbow popcorn and a kite tails bucket serious question do you think rainbow popcorn is what's on the other side of the rainbow should i tell dorothy and kermit they finally know the truth no okay this is in asia by the way y'all like i said right next to expedition everest pros here popcorn and special popcorn and other quick snacks cons aside from that rainbow popcorn mix there's nothing too earth shattering here but if you're starving you'll find something overall i'm going to give this about a 6 out of 10 maybe a 5 out of 10. this next one is our last dinoland usa snack stop it is trilobites snacks so there's not a huge range of snack options here but there are two i want to point out specifically and by the way it's a little kiosk there is a little bit of seating here but it's going to be all outdoors so first the savory buffalo chicken chips this has been a long time hidden gem snack made with seasoned chips buffalo chicken arugula crunchy diced celery diced tomatoes and both crumbled blue cheese and blue cheese dressing honestly you can make this afternoon snack into a meal if you decide not to share the second unique treat here is the trilobites twist which is dole whip orange and green vanilla soft serve ice cream why is it green i don't know but the whole thing tastes kind of like a creamsicle it's sort of like what you're gonna get over at sunshine tree terrace right now with that orange cream and vanilla swirl so if either of those sound like they're gonna hit the spot now you know where you can track them down pros for trilobites couple of standout sweet and savory options also it has an assortment of fountain drinks and alcoholic beverages available cons only one big savory option and if you're not a fan of blue cheese or buffalo chicken you can count that option out and it kind of gets lost among the other ice cream and soft serve options in the park especially with dinobite snacks and their epic ice cream sandwiches right behind this one overall though we're gonna give this one a seven out of ten because new and different stuff does pop up here from time to time so it's definitely something to keep on your radar okay next restaurant is tusker house now tiffins might be the signature restaurant in the park but tusker house is the character dining location in animal kingdom tusker is located in africa and has family style dining meaning you'll be sharing a bunch of starters entrees sides and desserts with your entire group until the buffet comes back tusker house was always a buffet then during covet it turned into family style it's still family style at the moment the restaurant is open for breakfast lunch and dinner but breakfast is the cheapest of the three options so if you're looking to save some money and still see those characters plan to make a reservation for the morning that you're at the park but what about the characters right who do you get to see here well donald of course along with his other friends like daisy mickey and goofy and the best part is that they're all dressed in their safari best which is super adorable for lunch and dinner expect options like house made breads split roasted herb chicken kate malay green curry shrimp jasmine rice house made macaroni and cheese this is really good macaroni and cheese by the way and an assortment of other unique eats this is a big meal so make sure you're gonna be hungry otherwise you're not gonna get your money's worth here unless you think character sightings are worth it alone pros for this one great for those looking to see a lot of popular characters at once and also wearing fun outfits that you're not necessarily going to see in the parks also great for those who are hungry and want a lot of adventurous eats and did i mention these plates are bottomless ask for a refill any time cons here this is another pricey meal if you don't plan on eating a ton or you don't really like a lot of the options on the prefix menu you're not going to get your money's worth here either this experience takes an hour or two out of your park day to experience so be sure to budget that for time overall this is an eight out of ten one of our favorite character meals in disney world okay number 29 on our list wahrung outpost let's make this little kiosk short sweet and to the point you can find wahrung at the asia section of the park and its main priority is making sure to keep you hydrated with non-alcoholic beverages or satisfied with a small selection of alcoholic beverages and that's it pretty much it unless you want a bag of chips or whatever so i guess it accomplishes what it sets out to do pros you need a drink they've got drinks cons no food here really other than bags of chips that are overpriced because theme parks overall this is a five out of ten yak and yeti is next yak and yeti local food cafes though we're talking about the counter service location yup this is the fast food spot right next to the table service yak and yeti restaurant and both are located in the asia section the local food cafes not only has a wider selection of to-go breakfast options than most of the other quick services on property but it also has hearty portions of pan asian specialties like chicken fried rice vegetable tikka masala and sweet and sour tempura shrimp but let's not ignore the star of the show here and that's the mini mango pie i don't even care if you're not nearly as impressed as i am this dessert is really really good but here's a little tip this mini mango pie is actually made by a company called kenny's pies you can usually find these mini mango pies and other kenny's pies in your bakery section of your like kroger or publix so just heads up on that now the two big downsides here one it can get pretty busy around peak dining times and two there's only outdoor seating available which is fine unless the sun is sweltering or it's raining cats and dogs out there so make sure to plan ahead for this location and try to order food a little after the lunch rush if you can and be sure to keep an eye on your weather app pros here great selection of breakfast lunch and dinner options and there are really some standout options like that hearty chicken fried rice is inexpensive feeds a couple of people and it's a great deal so you're gonna find things here that you're not gonna find in any other fast food joint in disney world cons outdoor seating only which can be bad if the elements are working against you and it can really get packed during those prime lunch and dinner times you're not going to find seeds overall though going to give this one an 8.5 out of 10. really like this restaurant okay number 31 is yak and yeti the table service version yakin yeti is a sit-down location offering a flavorful fusion of asian cuisines and much like all fabulous imagineering in the disney park jack and yeti has quite the intricate backstory apparently the building is owned by a former merchant named arjun who transformed his ornate home into lodging for travelers who need a place to crash during their long journeys maybe they're on their way to climb mount everest right so you've got quite the range of food here grilled meats beef and chicken based wok specialties like chicken tikka masala small plates like pork pot stickers and noodle bowls i really really like the firecracker shrimp here but here's another cool aspect about this spot you can get a shareable plate of something like the ahi tuna nachos lettuce cups or korean fried chicken and be totally satisfied without having to spend a lot of moolah in the process and that's a win-win if your group isn't big on those asian style cuisines there might not be much for you here but i will say they do have a steak and a burger on the menu and those are pretty good and they're pretty accessible for just about everybody now note that jack and yeti is run by landry's which also runs rainforest cafe and t-rex in the parks yakiniti is miles better than rainforest cafe and i don't know why they're run by the same company but i really really really enjoy yak and yeti i think it's good value for the money and i think it's delicious food so i don't know why they can't do that at rainforest cafe but there you go pros here high quality asian fusion cuisine great for groups looking for a sit-down meal that doesn't break the bank and it's a fun story and overall theming cons it takes time away from your park day because it's a sit-down restaurant not great for those who don't enjoy asian cuisine and if you're looking to save even more money you can always try its sibling restaurant the yak and yeti local food cafes but i'm going to give this one a 10 out of 10. i love the decor i love the backstory i love the theming and usually i love the food though it is getting a little pricier i think it's still a good deal okay we did it we are now at the end of this disney's animal kingdom ultimate
