hi so I thought today I'd give you a little treat I thought I'd give you a little quilt show of some of my quilts all the quilts that I have around me in general of the quilts that I've designed and mostly made myself sometimes I do get some help I have some people who they quite can to give me a little bit of a hand sometimes which is wonderful for me so rather than show you how to make something I'm just going to show you some things that I've made so we're going to we're in a workroom here and I've got a nice side deck I have a nice outlook of my room so that I can look out sometimes it's not as sunny as it is today sometimes we have a little bit of dampness that's what makes it so green we call it liquid sunshine here so we can sometimes out there I can do classes sometimes sitting out on the deck it's my lunch place it's just a really nice place just to be and hanging around on the walls we've got quite a few other quilts that I can show you a little brief glimpse into my workspace so this is not the studio we're normally in when we are filming but this is a workspace sometimes I run classes in here often I just make a mess when I'm working so I've got my trees in the meadow quilts which is a pattern on my websites and hanging up here is some of you will have seen this one this is the Town & Country quilt this is one that I ran as a block of the day this was the first block of the day that I did a few years ago now and we it's all made in small blocks it's all about the town the city in the centre at night and it goes through all sorts of suburbs and things out to the country in the daylight and that has now turned it so the pattern is now in the book so that's really very exciting part of things for me and then over here I've got a Japanese doll called is not a new quilt I made that some time ago but it's one of my favorites and I just enjoy watching it up there on the wall and then further on I've got in the dog house there's very little friends there's a whole little collection of friends that have got together having a little chat and looking around at things and then we've got little creature comforts and then we've got another one on my block of the day is hanging up here this one was called the daily dots and it's all about the family dots and then the family dogs have got granny and granddad who are just up here and we've got the family dot home which is one of the larger pictures up there in general it's a story about the family granny and grandad had two sons and the older son is is known as uncle Dalton he's married to Auntie Dalton they have two children who were cousin girl and cousin boy we have father dear he's the younger brother from granny and granddad's and he's married of course to mother dear and they have three children they have got boy and baby dot and then this is the honorary member of the family this is friend dot and the pictures are all about things that the family might do throughout a year friend dot is often there because she spends a lot of time with the family but they might be going out so playing little bits of golf they might be going sailing they might be going camping they might be going playing in the playground all sorts of things that families do throughout a year so that was a whole year of the doct family so that was kind of fun then I've got to quilt up here that is just a pinwheel quilt again kind of fun one of my patterns and yes another block of the day so this block of the day quilts are quite large so this was the third block of the day this was called dapple a day and this one was really just a little bit of fun a little bit of a shape with a little bit of stitching on it and we made this one in a quilt as you go methods so that each each little picture is a separate unit and so when we put them all together it was all quilted by the end of the year and it was just like I said purely fun dabbling and why wouldn't you dabble add a duckling is so much fun and then I've got a whole pile of quilts that I'm going to show you as well so over here I've got these three guys who were called we're watching it's just one of my patterns that I designed when I came out with a range of fabrics through Hoffman fabrics which was really exciting this was a circular panel which I cut the center out of and in that center circle there's three guys just popped out and they just hanging around watching us and also from those fabrics again from the round one that was my design just a simple little silhouette design sitting over the circle just for a bit of fun and I did the same design as well as the circular panel we did a running yardage of this wonderful bluey fabric so I did the same little silhouette on both because I couldn't decide which one I like better so we did both and then I've got this one here some of you may have seen this one some of you may even have made your own version this is Metro tiles this was also done as a quilt as you go and quotes it was inspired by some tiles that I had seen so the back is looking kind of fun because it's just squares joined together because of the quilt as you go method so that's Metro tiles I've got one now I had some help with the stitching of this one my friend friend was wonderful time was short for me and she said that she would do some sewing for me so she's put this together this was a book that I designed it around the panel which has the lines half a face and the bit that goes down the bottom that looks like a tree was kind of the other side of the panel and so this is African summer so that's come up really nicely then this is one called popping along so this was made using a pack of actually the Hoffmann Bally pops which is 40 different strips and so this was popping along using all 40 strips and a white background this was a one that I thought was kind of fun with just some different colors you're probably gathering I quite like houses and things like that so we've got some some little houses and and just nice things going on in this quilt here this is one called laneways I do quite a lot of fabric designs sorry quilt designs for Hoffmann fabrics and often they'll send me some digital images some new ranges and so some of the quilts that I'm doing it done that way I do work for some other companies as well but I do a lot with Hoffmann so this is one called laneways that was one of their ranges of fabrics and I thought that came up really nicely so there's patterns for these welts on my website this is another one that I've designed for a range of fabrics and I just thought it was really fun to do something with some little dresses and why not not something I wouldn't normally wear but they just kind of worked out in those fabrics so that was really cute it's called fancy that and then each year I run a a mystery course I do a what's in the box mystery so you sign up one month and then I mail out a box to you the next month and the in the third month we spend some time making the quilt it's run online although you do receive a box because that's how you find out what's in the box so that's probably all I can tell you about that I run at my each year and you can watch my website for this I have a newsletter if you're interested you can sign up for that so this is what we made this year from our what's in the box mystery they're always very different these quilts and all designed by me so you don't know what you're doing well somebody has denied and then I'm just finishing up this year's block of the day just put it all together it's been called the sketch of the day this year we had a lot of fun this year this is quite a large cloth which I'm hoping you'll be able to see with me holding it and what we did is a little picture each day they're all fused raw edge applique and we used some inktense pencils on them so that we shaded them in as well as doing some little sketchy sort of application so that's called a stitch a day so one little picture each day with some sketchy stitching and some intense coloring so a great way to learn to do things this is also done good as you go so the back is all kind of tidy it's already by the end of the year we did all that little sketches and then we can just I've just popped a little border around it and it's all finished how nice is that and then next year we are doing it again another block of the day and I haven't got the whole book yet to show you but I have a small portion of it that I can show you here I have two portions of it and I'll just show you one at the moment so this is just a part of it this is one eighth of the quilts and it's got a Japanese theme it's called the bento clock of the day and I went to Japan which is I wouldn't like to say a mistake but it certainly is caused me some work because now I'm all inspired by the Japanese things but as you can see I have previously done or Japanese quilts some years ago I have always loved the kokeshi dolls the kokeshi dolls are featuring quite well in the bento block of the day but it's not only kokeshi there's all sorts of other aspects of Japan that I came across in there as well so that pretty much concludes my little quilt exhibition that I thought you might like to see and I just will get on with making some more cuts so that I can do another exhibition for you sometime thank you for watching you
