morning everybody fantastic sea again I've just come back from Dorset and it is the most amazing spring Workshop I just ran there um the colors were fantastic I also managed to record a video just before that Workshop which I'm going to show on Sunday in fact I've got loads of videos I said I was going to take it easy and I've got loads of videos coming I've got the next release of my camper van video as well but I wanted to go through some of the video some of the photos that I took on that Dorset Workshop because I think they're really good I think um big myself up wait until we see them um but I also wanted to talk about luminar luminar I've asked if they could sponsor another video and to be honest I wasn't 100% sure cuz I didn't know where I could fit it in um but they've just had a spring release so I thought they've got a spring release I've got some spring photos so I could do some quick edits cuz that's where I think Lumin art is pretty cool to be honest where they you can not have a huge skill set in editing but you can get some really good results so I'm going to talk about their new tools I told Lomar if they're going to sponsor a video they've got to let me be honest they did last time they didn't even check the my video last time same goes this time I'm just going to say it as it is basically but it is a sponsored video so you've got to take what you think of the information that I give you right so let's get into these photos so usually I use lum Lumar as a plug into Lightroom and just do quick edits from Lightroom or sometimes I do like the aut effect in in luminar cuz it's really easy to do from Lightroom but I'm actually going to do everything in luminar Neo that their latest release here they've changed the logo as well which I actually quite like that I think it's pretty simple okay so we're going to go through some of the photos and I'll talk about some of the new tools that they've got um some of these I've not used before so this is you're going to be doing this with me right so so we me and Jack had just the most amazing conditions and everybody on the workshop we started off at cor Castle um which was fantastic and and we were shooting this um at dusk and then the light got better as you can see here and oh my word the light just got incredible and I'm going to edit some of these photos so I thought it'd be good to start with one of these like this one here actually let's do no let's do this one so we'll we'll do this here and I thought it'd be good to use their Twilight um enhancer I have no idea what that does so in the tools here I think they've got a new one here called Twilight enhancer um it's interesting not knowing what tools do because you could argue that you've got to know what every tool does but I'm not sure you do I think as long as you apply a tool and it does what you want it to do um and and you think that enhances the photo then then that's fine then you've got to decide how much you want to take that for instance I don't like adding anything to the photo I don't want to add in birds or different Skies or things like that um I don't mind removing a few distraction elements and I don't mind tweaking with colors either um but I don't like adding anything and everyone's different you just got to make that decision for yourself so let's try this Twilight enhancer I literally promise I've never tried this before I've no idea what it's going to do so color preset we'll just go for mave um I'm just going to apply it it's doing oh blimy so they call them AI um tools so that's why it probably just took a a second or two to do something actually that's really nice isn't it so I feel like that's adding some color it's almost like doing a radial gradient of color here in the background um I actually quite like that I think that's that's pretty good that's really good in fact I don't know what it looks like on other tools and as long as you don't overdo it just to add a little bit of color into it that's pretty good let's have a look on the other one let's go to this one see what it does with this one um edit Twilight enhancer so yeah it just takes a a second just to kick in and then it's fine again that's that's realistic that's pretty good we I'll continue editing this one cuz I quite like it so I'm just going to crop it a little bit um I'm going to move in maybe I'll just do a free crop and we will I don't mind those car streaks going through there cuz I feel like they capture some of the color from the background um so that's applied the crop and then probably what I do with this the thing I do on all the um luminar photos that I use is this enhance AI this is this is Magic it basically just as a combination of highlights Shadows contrast saturation but it does them in such a a subtle way I really like it um you know it just brings out the shadows and sometimes it you don't want to do it a lot I I often do it with a sky enhancer which often does a graduated filter on the top and brings it down a little bit I think that looks pretty good to be honest and again that's that's why I love Lumin on so much because it's it's just simple um you know there's some frustrations with it which we'll probably get on to at some point but you know it's for that quick edit it's it's really fantastic um I wish I could use it as my main workflow but they still not added a print module yet so when they do that you never know but that looks pretty cool so we've just gone from that to that and just don't really need to do a lot the atmosphere was doing most of it on that day right the other thing I have tried this is the HDR mer merge now this is something that I think could be very very useful so um this is basically uh you can batch HDR merge merges and I'll sort of explain what I mean by that so the sun got a lot better um so we had this Twilight and then we were waiting for the sun to come up when the sun came up lots more Miss came out and it was so spectacular there was shots everywhere to be honest but um I was shooting the the C Castle here as the Mist was coming through and I I luckily got this shot with the two birds and this is good I we could edit this but what I wanted to do was I took some more shots after that as the sun got a little bit higher so this one and a few closer ones and basically if we just select all those images we can drag them in to HDR merge I've not tried this many before so go hope this works can change the settings here Auto Alignment we'll get rid of any ch itic um aberration we don't need ghost reduction um because there's nothing moving although there was fog moving okay we'll leave it so now click merge with back hdr on and it's it's super clever it basically batches the um the brackets that I did which makes it really easy so now I can say Okay I want to merge that one and that one and that one but I don't want to do that one so then I can go click continue and that will then go and merge those three sets of images it also applies settings to the HDR when it merges I tried this before as I said I'm not 100% sure whether I like that or not I prefer it just to do the HDR merge have all that information in there and then I apply the settings afterwards and I've got that extra sort of dynamic range to play with but you know if we're just thinking about simplicity then I think it does a reasonably good job I've not done these three images before though so it' be interesting to see what it does with these so that's it we've got the images merged now so if I just go into this I can then go and do an edit on it I could just go and just do the enhance Ai and then just work out what I wanted or play about with that um but you can see that it's done it's done a reasonable amount of editing already on it um which I think it's actually it's done a good job but again I I I my own preference is to do that myself but it's pretty good isn't it I love this ray of light that's coming in the background here what I'm actually going to do is go back [Music] to this image here and just quickly edit it because I really like it I think it could look good as like a um a bit of a Pano so just just like that probably just tilt it away a little bit and on this quite interestingly um again I'll just do the enhance AI it just does a good job of that it just brings up the the colors if you ever got a shot like this it's sometimes good to enhance this color gradient so if I just go to color here what I could do is I could um just make this side a bit Bluer actually I'll do it within the develop module if I do a mask and a linear gradient and I just do it on this side and on this side I then go [Music] and just make that a little bit Bluer and then and then I'll add another one so going add another one add another linear gradient here and then this I'm going to make a little bit warmer holy moly not that much warm so yeah maybe maybe I just want to increase the SAT yeah just the saturation actually just the Vibrance just to pull out some of that green that orange what I want to do is I want to accentuate that change and that transition from yellow to sort of blue going across it um I feel like it just needs s um just a this color cast works quite well when you say remove color cast so I'm just going to do that and then I'm going to increase saturation of the whole image yeah that looks pretty good I'm so lucky with those birds so then I'm then when I was here on this this Castle we were sort of talking to the um guests on the workshop and talking to them about trying different things so I took these Boker balls so I was just trying to shoot through the sort of Jew on the ground towards C castle in the background um and I actually got a babo here so a rainbow in a boka ball called it a babo don't know if that exists but it's now I've trademarked that name um and then I was also getting a bit lower and shooting down to GF C castle and I got all all these Boke balls here um I quite like doing this ever since I did it like four years ago or something um actually for a photo that's on my wall there in Iceland I've I've always experimented with this because I've gotten hour collection of shots like this but obviously this one one of the guests was walking through um the gate here um so let's try this gener so this is is it's like the Photoshop um AI arrays basically uh I have no idea it's not going to be able to do this so this is going to be the big test this is really hard test isn't it so I'm going to see if it can erase no it's not going to do this is it it's just going to raas all the fence as well but we'll give it a go sorry luminar I said to be honest um right so click arase not sure this is going to work we'll see who knows again I feel like it takes a little bit longer than what okay it's not perfect but wow that's not bad I've left a little bit I've missed a bit there so that's done a pretty good job it left a bit there but a pretty good job it's ridiculous so yeah I I don't think there's a lot of editing to do with this again I'll probably just go to the edit and enhance and you know just again it just does the things that I would think of doing really um on this particular one I probably want to go um in and just pull down some of the highlights I think yeah there we go but this is this looks can't believe I managed to get rid of her I mean the gate looks a bit weird now but I don't think You' noticed CU it's quite weird anyway so I'm going to showare lots of Bluebell shots on Sunday because I'm going to show the ones that I took on the workshop plus the ones I did on the video before we had some really amazing um conditions on on the workshop as you can probably see by some of the photos here um I wanted to quickly just try and edit this one because I feel like this might might be a good one to um just show the luminance masking um so they've added apparently luminance masking which is so so important in editing photos a bit like this really and the other thing that Lumina has is it has the uturn effect so I thought it' be really good in this particular image to combine the two so again I'll go in I'll just do the enhance AR I'll do a quick edit of it and then what I want to do is I want to make this back bit a bit glower glowier so I'm just going to quickly just crop this right um so what I'm going to do is I'm going to go to Glow so this allows me to apply an auton effect um if you don't know what an UT effect is then basically it's just like a blur over the whole image so if I just go and do a maximum alterate effect that's like in yourf face or effect we don't want that um we probably want something a bit more like this but I don't really want this foreground blurring too much so now I can mask this which is again so good all the tools within luminar you can mask so I've now got this Luminosity mask so what I'm going to do that Luminosity mask is I'm going to go and just select the highlights and as I apply this so basically it's saying all the tones are Master at the moment are showing so I'm going to say don't show the darker tones or don't don't do apply the effect to the darker tones that's quite a hard Edge though so this button at the bottom allows me to sort of feather that a little bit because I want it to come onto the tips of the um ferns but not all the ferns so I can tweak that a little bit more about there and now I can apply that auton effect and it's just going to apply it just to The Brighter tones so I usually warm up my UT effects so just add some warmth to it I'm going to reduce the contrast a bit reduce the brightness a bit add a bit more softness into it and if we just do before and after you can see it's just added a little subtle glow to it I can probably even add a bit more to that to be honest because now it's applying to the highlights then you know it's there's no reason why I can't just push that a little bit more cuz it's not blurring at all those darker tones and those things that are closer to the camera as well and I think that looks really good I I mean that's like quite a complex edit in Photoshop but again in here you can do it really easily which is one of the I use this all the time in Lumina right so yeah that looks pretty good let's go and have a look at focus stacking um yeah so I'm going to talk about got some of these more these Blue Bell shots and I'm going to do some prints on Sunday going to be in the forest as well I get quite excited so get ready for that okay so I went to derle Door of course I did I was in doorset why wouldn't I it was so amazing dle door and I took this shot of these daisies and I was really close so basically I did one focused on um durle door I didn't get the Horizon very straight here and one focused on the daisies so this on derle door this was on the daisies and you can see because of um lens breathing Focus breathing they're not quite aligned so it's going to be interesting I've not done the focus stack on this again it's going to be interesting how well it'll do with this Focus stack so basically to do a focus stack you just select the two I'm not going to even mess about with the um because they're quite they're different exposures but let's just see how good it is um so I'm just going to put those in focus stacking in there I'm going to Auto align the first one's a reference image and I'm going to remove remove any chromatic aberration and just click stack right so that's in Focus so that's good wow it's doing an incredibly good job of that actually I mean if I was being really critical I'd say that these weren't perfect but I honestly think you'd never notice um and they're so hard to get right whenever you're doing a focus attack you really don't want things that stick up in the air over something a long way away because it just makes it almost impossible to focus stack you would never know that that existed um obviously the disadvantage with doing it like this is you can't tweak it when Photoshop you're you're applying a mask you can do some tweaks you can get a little bit more um but you know most of the time you want you don't want to tweak it I didn't I need to sort that Horizon out don't I that's really bad that Horizon um so let's go and let's see if it can automatically align the Horizon no that's not good is it okay I think it was tricky one that but it didn't it didn't Auto align the Horizon so we'll go about there and then basically basically I want to tidy this up a little bit so I can do this in lots of different ways I can just go and um just use the Clone tool or I could go back and use generas on it um and I'll probably do that so I can just get this bit here click aray I just want to taty up the edges basically it's always a good idea when you've got shot like this just to tidy up the edges so that your eyes is drawn into the main focus point right let's go and edit this so we'll go to the enhance cuz I really like this always does a good job I think we need to actually um increase the temperature of this a little bit I probably should have done this before I focus stacked but it doesn't really matter and there I to be honest it looks pretty good like that doesn't it I quite like that I quite like that I think that's quite a good shot it's always a good idea to experiment with close-up things I was like this far away and we were talking to some of the um guests on the workshop and saying how close you can go I was probably that this far away this was at 24 mm cuz I didn't want the back durle door to go too small um but usually i' shoot around about 20 16 to 20 mm but I quite like this I think it looks pretty good so finally I just want to show you this shop so this is a fantastic garlic Woodland um and we had a little bit of mist so we we were all walking down this path and trying to find routes down this path and I always like a winding path like this that just goes into the distance there really isn't a huge amount um to edit on this I'm just going to do the basics so I'm just going to do the raw edit first and probably just increase the exposure a little bit maybe reduce the highlights a bit increase the Shadows a bit probably just make it a little bit warmer um I always find greens tricky when you're doing this I'm going to reduce the saturation a little bit so I can always bring some saturation back I think that's too bright now maybe that's better there we go but what I want to do is I want to just add a little bit of glow at the end of it at the end of the path and I also want to just change the greens a little bit so I'm going to go into the tools click the color here and in here I've got the hsl slider and I just want to play about with the greens CU you mean we don't want it like that we don't want it like that I think I'd like them a little bit more vibrant so I'm going to go for greens about there so I'm just going to reduce the yellow as well just to bring out some warmth in the trees and then I'm just going to add a glow in the middle just to draw my eye into the middle so we'll go to Glow or effect again and we're not going to do it on the whole image we're just going to do a mask radial gradient and we'll just do it on this Central Area here um and then I'll probably as well just add a little bit of warmth to that so I've just gone from that to that it looks really good so I hope you've enjoyed looking at these photos with me from Dorset it was such a fantastic week and also looking at luminar Spring release um I've got so many videos coming up after saying I'm going to take it easy I basically got my windows putting my windows in my camper van that what could go wrong with that I read some instructions well I read a few instructions but yeah some things didn't go quite to plan and then on Sunday I've got a video of me in in the Bluebell Woods which was just absolutely fantastic it was great to be back out with my camera cuz I've had a little bit of a break um there is going to be more breaks from video uh I I am going to Scotland to do some recording um soon I'm actually going to the open venue for the um Open golf to do some things there so that should be quite exciting so I've got some things coming but I want to say thanks ever so much for everyone's comments on all my videos and um it seems like my camper van videos have gone down really well so I really appreciate that until next Thursday or maybe Sunday bye
