AS CBS 2'S NATALIE DUDDRIDGE SHOWS US, POLICE SAY THEY FOUND TWO DOZEN WEAPONS IN HIS HOME AND MOST OF THEM UNLICENSED. >> Reporter: THE WIFE OF THE ACCUSED WALKED OUT OF QUEENS CRIMINAL COURT IN TEARS. SHE DID NOT WANT TO SPEAK ON CAMERA BUT SAID HER HUSBAND IS A WONDERFUL MAN. CHARLES TURNER, A 65-YEAR-OLD RETIRED DOORMAN AND DELI WORKER SAID HE WAS DEFENDING HIMSELF. POLICE SOURCES SAY AROUND 2:00 A.M. WEDNESDAY PHONE OR WAS WALKING BACK FROM A STORE ON 82nd AVENUE AND QUEENS BOULEVARD, WHERE HE BOUGHT CIGARETTES, WHEN HE SAYS HE SAW A MAN ACTING ERRATICALLY, BANGING ON WINDOWS. HE TOLD POLICE THE MAN DEMANDED HIS WALLET AND CIGARETTES AND SAID HE FELT WRITTEN TO. SOURCES SAY THAT'S WHEN HE PULLED OUT A REVOLVER AND FIRED FIVE TIMES, KILLING 32-YEAR-OLD CODY GONZALES. HIS NEIGHBOR TELLS US HE SAW THE SURVEILLANCE VIDEO OF THE INCIDENT. >> HE LOOKS LIKE HE'S WAVING THE GUY OFF, LIKE HE'S TELLING THE GUY, BACKUP. I THINK HE'S SHOWING HIS FIREARM TO LET HIM KNOW THAT HE WAS ARMED AND THE INDIVIDUAL KEPT COMING. >> Reporter: SOURCES SAFE OWNER CALLED 911 AND TURNED HIMSELF IN. THE WEAPON USED IN THE SHOOTING WAS RECOVERED. IT WAS NOT LICENSED. PROSECUTORS SAY A SEARCH WARRANT OF OWNERS HOME REVEALED HE HAD MORE THAN 46 WEAPONS INCLUDING PISTOLS, SHOTGUNS, AN AK-47, AND 152 HIGH-POWER MAGAZINES AS WELL AS BODY ARMOR.
