Quantum Leap Episode 1: Quantum SLEEP More Like!!

[Music] hi everyone it's az here from heal versus babyface last night was the first episode of the reboot because everything is a remake or a reboot or a sequel or a prequel or a sequel to a prequel or a prequel to a sequel because there's no new tv anymore it's just take old ips and then modernize them and last night saw the modernization of uh quantum leap da wow okay sorry uh um yeah so i just watched the first episode of quantum leap and it was quite frankly a bit of a snooze fest now i don't want to [ __ ] all over it because i don't know maybe there's a little glimmer of ho i i don't know i'm just so tired of watching tv and either being disappointed because it's politically char you know charged or you know this this is a really interesting franchise and the first episode did nothing interesting in actual fact it played it so safe and generic that it simply i had to leave three times during this watch i watched about 15 minutes stopped did some shopping bought another hot toy ah anywho don't need to worry about that uh did some shopping did some watch the yellow flash video uh on on uh frost ah frostbitten and all that uh and then i went onto social media uh did a couple of tweets had a look at a couple of things um look through some analysis on my youtube i'm not even i'm not even kidding here this is actually what i'd stopped went downstairs got a snack got a snack uh had a wii uh did a fart which stank to hi heaven it was rank and i did it and i was like it's the the ham the ham said that it was i could still eat it until the 23rd of september can't catch a break these days can so uh then you know so it took about three three different um walks away from the computer not in a batwoman way where i'm just ready to throw things at stuff and break [ __ ] but just because i was bored and and this is a sci-fi show and they didn't lean remotely into the sci-fi doesn't mean i dislike all the characters i i thought the main protagonist although a little bit of vanilla which is ironic because he's asian uh although is it way stop it uh although he's a little bit of vanilla i think he's got potential uh the the hologram uh his misses uh that's a different story uh ernie hudson was great for the little time that they gave him on screen he was he was he was giving it it was acting he was acting uh and then the other two main characters one of them is like you know a 95 pound uh small asian woman who's the head of security she was useless and then they had um the non-binary [ __ ] just stop it you know and they were the worst thing about the show because they were written like a [ __ ] pathetic idiot which is ironic because if you call us anyway don't need to go into that right now that's a different that's a different topic all together uh so i'm gonna kind of like brief you through the story it's really uncompelling indeed and um yeah it's a bit of a shame uh so we start off with a party where uh that we we are literally literally introduced to all the cast really quickly now i'm sort of okay with that because at least it's saying hey look we're trying to get to the meat and potatoes show you who's in and then we're gonna get to it so in that respect i'm okay with it but um they were pretty much all [ __ ] so there was that uh so here he is with his misses because the hologram is his misses in in irl uh and so they're having a party i i can't remember what the party was for or e if it was even mentioned why they were having a party but they're having a party and they're very much in love but it wasn't an engagement party so i i don't know they kissed i think uh yeah this knob jockey is is like oh my god i want to tell you about what music you should play because i have impeccable taste in music oh and by the way uh just to add to their personality they don't believe in monogamy and uh they take mushrooms because oh my god i'm from california ah and i don't believe in monogamy and i think oh crap in a handbasket uh so they come in and go hello i'm a non-binary okay good stuff that's the um the useless security head of security by the way this this is like ernie hudson the security wench the the this stupid thing and then uh her and her boyfriend plus ernie hudson that is the whole group for quantum leap it's it's a secret i don't it's it's a secret but they're not telling the government but the government knowing the answer to the government they kind of really badly explained uh what's going on here and they did a throwaway line where she was like well what do you want to tell everyone at the party that you're a secret or that you've got a secret organization time traveler right whatever so uh he gets uh uh oh you see why i had to take a break after like 10 minutes that was done i love it i love you ernie i love you she's quite hot uh but she's stupid she's really dumb and they do really dumb stuff with her not much because they don't use it much but so uh i'm just wondering do we get a do we get the thing with the thing the thing with the thing right okay okay so we get like a cut to some woman and she's on a computer she's like oh my god i just oh my god i did a thing with a thing i did something to do with stem and it works because we need more women in stem okay as you probably gathered the main character is a dude we've got a non-binary we've got ernie hudson and then there's all chicks but none barry's made up anyway don't worry about it uh so he gets a he gets like a message from this this mystery woman and then he leaves the party and then the next thing we know he's just there on on the uh accelerator the quantum leap accelerator and i'm like oh this is a sci-fi show you had a really good opportunity to do something to to to get them all into the base to ex explain how your you know what things are and how they work or or just kind of you know produce but the problem is in today's sci-fi shows you need to just throw the science fiction out the window so you can get to the [ __ ] fields because they tried desperately just to do feels and feels and more feels and more fit [Music] oh [ __ ] no part wait quantum leap uh oh god feels feelings that's all we talk about is feelings so he uh leaps into a uh getaway driver it's live aid and david bowie is uh is about play i miss you thin white duke uh so he's just about to go on stage so you get a time stamp yes it's an obvious time stamp but it's a time stamp and he doesn't know how to drive and and then he's just like what ah where am i are you in san francisco bloody bloody fedex i'm trying to record it never mind so he's in sunny franny's [ __ ] go and he's like what's going on and then somebody he doesn't know who we are he doesn't know where he is and then some woman yells ben and he turns around because uh he remembers his name i don't know and it's his his misses who [Laughter] don't look too flattering in that pause but never mind uh yeah [Music] mid at best you know what i'm saying uh and she's just like ben what are you doing why are you leaping oh by the way we get a funny revelation later because you know girl power and he's like i don't know who i am who are you she's like um i can't tell you and then uh they realized that they're doing a bank robbery and then a car goes they run through her she's like yo hold on he's like you're a hologram and she's like i'll explain luda so they get in the car he doesn't know how to drive so she tells him how to drive and him immediately he's the best driver in the world that's not what happened when i got into a car for the first time all i'm gonna say accidental manslaughter boosh time served baby uh so anywho they drive to a restaurant which is gonna be foreclosed and this guy is like i he's not a bad guy apart from that he's robbing places at gunpoint because uh his restaurants going into foreclosure and his wife or daughter i don't know which cause i was kind of zoning out because it was so boring has got like a a cancer or something so they wanna they wanna they wanna ziggy zigga uh they want to uh he wants to steal money to pay for her um medicate make her better uh what are you actually caught i think it's called ben i think i said ben ben's song i think and he's like hey i want a proper explanation but she's like oh no i'm i'm i'm going what's going on and uh we're having a problem with ziggy ziggy's the computer we're having a problem with ziggy's [ __ ] gone and going offline and she's like well what happened she's like i don't know what happened because last night it looks like it looks like ben came in and you know when sci-fi is not trying because they say he says uh ben came in and uploaded a completely brand new operating system and everything i'm like i need to take a break i need to take a break i'm loading a whole new operating system and later on we're gonna have a syntax error i'm not even joking there's gonna be a syntax error so i was like okay so uh this is gonna be very light on the science then so they've got to wait for ziggy to reboot before they can go into the imaging tray uh imaging chamber that was nearly a hard word to say ernie hudson's always on the phone and he's been walked down by the security bin who does nothing uh meanwhile back in 1975. [Music] back in 1985 uh ben is talking to himself out loud why uh don't know but then uh the woman reappears and she starts explaining a few things but she doesn't tell him that they uh you know he uh sticks his penis into her vagina she keeps that bit secret she just kind of makes it look like they are friends then we get i think it's here it might be later no i think it's later but i'll give it here anyway we were it's revealed that she was the person who should have been leaping in the program and he was going to be her hologram oh my god why did you take the place of a woman why it makes me sad you misogynistic pig ben so i'm trying to i'm trying to make this just a little bit more lively because this show was um so yeah talk talk talky feelings feelings talky talky so he talks with another guy and like hey that robbery today that's not it we've got a big thing we're gonna steal the hulk diamond and if you mess up i'm the bad dude and i'm gonna kill you i don't think we see him again after this uh security woman says uh i'm going to do a security thing security this thing here [ __ ] [ __ ] off we then get more feelings oh my god this is my family everyone is lovely um everyone's gonna die if i don't steal all these things i can't let him the family die it's too late because it's nick i think he's called nick nick dies tonight you're here to save nick's life but it's a farm to family okay so we got some really bad um blue screen behind and he's just like they're talking about stuff and ben tells him he's just like you're gonna get killed tonight if you don't watch it so they go to this place who's created a fake hope diamond and he's just like hey we're gonna renegotiate the deal and then ben's just like oi hologram tell me something about this guy for leverage so he she gives him some information he's just like i know all about your secret bank accounts on the cayman islands and and [ __ ] and rice and pee so he's like okay uh nobody should know about that here have the fake diamond cool cool story bro [Music] the security woman uh they've managed to by the way get a little bit of footage a little bit of footage of the woman at the beginning of the show who was just like oh my god i've just created god and uh she had a ring on her finger and it was like a a a navy ring and ernie hudson's like i've got a ring similar to that i got it in lamb and nam when you put your hand where you think your friend's head is and it's just a pile of goo something like that anyway so they've got something to work on to try and find out who she is and then the security woman says you should fire me and he's like what she's like i let people i let ben get in and upload a completely new operating system and a bunch of other stuff and then leap and it's all my fault you should fire me and i'm just like you're absolutely correct but ernie hudson is a i guess a nicer guy than me and he's he says uh no um we need you for the rest of the series intermittently so uh so this is this is where ben tells him you're gonna die you're gonna die nick and uh then he then he oh let me just get rid of me for a sec then he's just like oh my god how much how many inches can you get in here i don't know maybe i can't remember so uh anyway there's the there's the party where the hulk diamond is gonna be on display and they're gonna blow stuff up with c4 as a distraction which makes them switch the hope diamond which the american government never even though they had insured for half a billion dollars they never revealed because they didn't want the the um press bad press i don't know so the hope diamond in real day is actually a fake what this is so dope i always think downstairs making a sandwich right now because i'm making this sound way better than it is i'm just saying this this goes over the course of 45 minutes folks uh so there's guns been pulled out and it's actually ben isn't ben ben's mark and mark's a policeman he's an undercover cop oh my god plot twist it wasn't needed it wasn't even needed it didn't even make any difference uh ernie hudson uh says jesus christ your glasses look [ __ ] dumb uh well thirsty woman's bit thirsty and she tells her this is where she tells him that she was meant to leap and he was meant to be the hologram and she tells him how to breathe on his restraints uh to to loosen them so he could snap them well done woman power man can't work anything out for himself uh they then turn up he's found a a a tuxedo which fits perfectly i guess and uh maybe maybe the bank robbers had one in let's just say the bank robbers had one for him because he was going to be part of the heist let's be nice so he turns up to the hope diamond place and then he drinks some champagne then he dances with the black woman he's just like hey don't do this and she's like tough we're gonna do this okay then he punches a guy and uh then he takes all the c4 he takes all the c4 which is in the back of a car the bomb and everyone from the exhibit runs outside because the black woman starts shooting some bullets in the air and then they just decide to watch him defuse the bomb and then he's like i can't defuse it so uh they said they go look there's a manhole cover lift it up i'm gonna chuck the bomb in so when he so when they lift up the manhole cover and then when he picks up the bomb and starts going towards the manhole to drop it in then the people have all been watching him trying to defuse the bongo it's a bomb and they start running around the place like and it blows up under and they dive and the and it's like way we didn't die and then he's like so what happens now and it's just like well uh i've just looked and ziggy says cause ziggy's back up ziggy says that uh all the gang got arrested and the guy the nice the nice guy who i guess who was uh you know robbing people at gunpoint uh he uh he made a deal with the police and and then the community what community the community rallied around and they made a lot of money so that his wife could get uh fixed and uh he they even had leftover money so his restaurant came back yay what a happy ending and then she's like let's leave it's time for you to leap uh after saying very cryptically that um i uh but uh he's just like i'm too busy um leaping and so and so ernie hudson is uh they do mention sam beckett by the way at the beginning they do mention sam beckett we get a little hologram of sam beckett for a second and ernie hudson's just like i gotta fly to new york to explain why we [ __ ] up because ben just left and uh we've got no idea where he is and like oh [ __ ] and then she says hey i worked out the the the woman with the ring at the beginning of the show that went oh my god i just created jesus as well and uh it's actually the ring of owl it's owl's ring and so therefore the person who but al died last year they say so um the person who's got his ring must be his daughter ah alright things stuck well i love you dean wonderful guy uh in one of my favorite episodes of colombo as well uh so they're like okay and then when she's back at the uh the house her house and then she finds ben's phone and ben left a message saying this is going to be a mystery i can't tell you why i left well uh but this mystery will unravel throughout the course of the series you'll find little things out okay uh and then oh no he's left and he's actually come out in a um cosmonaut astronaut not cosmonauts it's uh the uh space shuttle he ends up being in uh colombia this i think next episode is going to be a very short episode it's not too soon come on give me something please and then it does say uh at the end um dedicated to dean stock well no uh yeah it was it would look it was it was pretty boring the dialogue was basic the main the main guy was okay you know the acting was okay the holograms acting um not so much ernie hudson like i said fine the others [Music] so fingers crossed that that that gets better if i i don't think i'm gonna con i might watch a couple more and see how it goes but i'm not um you know it's not awful it's not like it wasn't particular well apart from this stupid bin with the glasses it's not particularly woke there wasn't any sort of you know and well apart from the fact that she was meant to be the one going into the quantum accelerator or whatever it was low key that we get today put it that was as low key as we got but that could change because he could leap into anyone and anything but uh it was it was pretty boring it was pretty boring and dull and they didn't lean into the science they just lent into the fields and the fields weren't compelling so uh very average i'll give it a uh i'm gonna be generous i wanna be generous i'll give it a five out of ten and it should be a four but i'm giving it a five because it's it's it's yeah uh so there we go uh see in the next video take care bye for now [Music] you
