hi everybody this is agnesa from no sediment and today I will be answering your questions there are many questions that I find in the comment section of no sediment videos and unfortunately I don't always have the time to sit down and answer them all and since we all have been super busy during the holiday season at least I know I have been running around like crazy what could be better than just sit sitting down popping open a nice bottle of wine and have a pleasant conversation with people I share similar interests with with people who love wine and I will also be announcing the winner of my giveaway so stick around until the end of this video to find out who will be the winner to get this exclusive no sediment hat so I have here quite a lot of questions both wine related and not so much sent in on Instagram or YouTube by you guys and I will do my best best to answer them all shall we so where are you from you know to study that region well I am from Rial lva and it is way up north in Europe and we don't have very huge wine making history we do experiment with some hybrids and it it is because V Fifer usually dies over the winter just last week we had minus 20 during the day andus 25 during the night and not everything can survive that temperatures are burgundy wines overpriced do you expect price correction soon well I do think that burgundy is very expensive uh and definitely some wines are way overpriced um however I don't think that there will be price correction anytime soon there are people who are willing to buy those wines for those prices there's limited amount produced of those wines so while I do think that some wines are really overpriced I don't think that the price will drop down anytime soon at least majorly what are your favorite books about wine um the more specific the better I will tell you this because I'm studying wine and uh I don't want it to be you know a little bit about everything I want it to be deep dive so I usually try to find books that are very very specific quite geeky how often do you actually enjoy wine non work related by my fellow YouTuber Matthew Hy hi Matthew I think actually that I enjoy wine work related less than I do for myself you know I usually like when there's small celebration or big celebration I usually like to open some nice bottle of wine uh also dinner you know when you cook yourself you also want to accompany that dinner uh with some nice bottle of wine so I usually try to spoil myself a little bit on that end yes not too much so next question is slightly related to the previous question how much wine do you drink a week and when to be honest I don't drink that much wine I would say maybe bottle of wine or bottle of wine and half over a week um I do use a kavine which helps me a lot to preserve the wines and for me it's usually more than a tasting rather than drinking you know and maybe one or two glasses uh per evening on Friday or or Thursday night uh that would be it what's not to miss wine event in 2023 hm I haven't prepared my schedule yet I would say that one thing that didn't happen last year was the Venom in Vienna so that might be one not to miss favorite Greek wine variety if any to be completely honest I haven't been drinking too much Greek wines not because I don't like them but because they are hard to get in my country but I do like this one I I think it is ancient and not that well recognized leatico but I think since the very first time I tried it I quite enjoyed it and I think it is a very interesting and unique gra variety red one what champagne were you drinking this New Year's Eve I was drinking L Le the a grand crew from 2014 vintage it was beautiful wine what's your ultimate favorite wine champagne champagne and always champagne how do you protect your teeth and General Health when you taste drink a lot as part of your job so teeth is a very sensitive subject to me because they are sensitive you know some wines have very high acidity the pH level can be as little as 2.9 which is uh devastating for teeth so I always always will sleep with a night guards over the night and I use micronutrients that I add in those night guards for my teeth to come kind of soak up all that that I have lost I use the softest toothbrush you can imagine I never brush my teeth with whitening toothpaste it is also meant for for sensitive teeth so this is something that I pay a lot of attention to and as for health I try to not drink too much alcohol you know and when I'm tasting if I'm doing it for job or fores I always spit out so I don't swallow so I try to limit my alcohol consumption and I have several days over the week when I don't drink alcohol at all even though I'm tasting and of course maybe small percentage of that you you do absorb but I'm trying to think of that and also one more thing that's very important is to maybe also do some sports and not allow alcohol to consume your everyday life why did the Beyond Santi 2006 taste so damn good on Christmas Eve at my body's place I don't know Colin probably because it's an epic wine it should taste good do you have any coffee table wine books you would recommend well I do have some that I would read over and over and over again until they are falling apart and one of them is by Hugh Johnson you can see it's right here it is already falling apart so this is wine a life on court absolutely amazing and beautiful read and then another one is absolutely beautiful drinking with Valkyries by Andrew jefford and it is like small essays about his wine experiences and his written word is just so amazing beautiful language I love these books undervalued sparkling wines for New Year's Eve less than $30 I think we like to hate prco but there are some amazing Pros out there definitely worth trying some amazing covers can be purchased for definitely less than $30 and maybe some nice cremons from Jura or or luir Valley no question just want to say thanks to all your work and all thank you does your dog like wine no wines with thirsty Aromas but still rich in fruit and acidity does this combination exist well of course it exists wine essentially wants to become vinegar and our job is to catch it before it does you have unlimited access to money which bottle would you buy champagne champagne and again champagne so Salon probably 2008 Magnum bottles please please how do screw cup wine age in bottle over time do they get the same benefits as cork wines actually I think screw cup wines sometimes even age better than wine under the natural cork they age slower they age nicer I like those best wine region outside the United States for wine tourism Portugal Doro Wally definitely this one is in Latin so I'll try to translate it how is it to be a woman in the wine World quite nice to be honest I like it how would you prepare for w 2 course with simple and mature knowledge I would take the book they provide and read it from cover to cover it is a very good book and it will give you all the information you need to pass that exam best budget friendly champagne sparkling to gift someone I would actually go for non-vintage champagne and the one thing that comes to my mind is Mom I think it is an absolutely amazing champagne for a very very good price stem wear are you form over function or more scientific with your choices I am about Aesthetics I like nice stem wear on my table and to be honest outside of the typical function for it to hold the wine and have a bit narrow upper side that's all I need where/how to start exploring the wine world if you are curious beginner I think nice way to start is read more about each wine you open and drink that will give you overall understanding what you are actually enjoying in your glass or not so much and then maybe invest in some nice wine books could you make videos suggesting Wines By price range under 20 under 50 or under 100 sure thank you for the tip I have a hard time distinguishing some great varieties even like Cabernet versus Mero is it really possible for a trained person to do it Ora and other factors have more impact on the final product than the grape variety well first of all Cabernet and Mero are same family grape varieties it is completely normal to mix those two up and they are usually Blended together so it makes sense so don't feel too bad about it and then this is where the Theory comes in where you have to understand that Mero develops higher alcohol and it is more plus plumper style wine while Cabernet if it is Cabernet sovon is more about structure acidity like sticky tenant type uh and of course there is purines which maybe sometimes Mero has but not as much so yeah I think it's all about the theory and practice theory and practice and it it is actually you can do that I'd love your thoughts on buying wine vintage and non vintage from auction houses either in person or online I think this is a very wide question and I have to make a video about it love your channel thank you three questions how much wine do you drink not a lot how do you deal with alcohol to avoid health issues as professional Som I try to spit as much out as possible what's your opinion on Baltic wines also known as Solaris for example well I think we are getting there and every year I see better and better examples coming out of these three countries so I'm very happy about that I'm interested in a culinary one week trip to Italy maybe some hidden gems that are combinable into a trip well Italy is number one place to be for culinary trip however I mostly know stuff about wine so not as much about the culinary itself I'm sure there are many web pages you can check and you will find all the information necessary after all Italians love to talk about food hi hi at what temperature should Rosé Crystal champagne be served warmer than majority of them are served and drunk I'm a huge fan of your channel thank you how can I purchase a hat I think they're really cool well thank you and stay tuned hopefully very soon if you had one week to spend traveling and tasting and could only choose one wine region where would you go Pon barolo tsan Spain Bordeaux Pont of course how do you sh toop for more hard to get wine regions or Styles this is where I'm very lucky I work for an importer distributor and we work exclusively with highend highly only sold on allocation wines so I have firsthand to these wines thanks for a great Channel I'm a huge fan of nebiolo wines as I am interested to findun bolo and barbaresco wines with lower alcohol something below 14 do you know of any or how to search or find them RNA is one example normally well this is maybe where uh our views will differ because I don't find alcohol on its own as a bad thing and nebiolo tends to develop high alcohol level because it is harvested late you know and usually the best sites south facing are reserved for nebiolo if it wants to be Baro or barbaresco wine so it makes sense for it to have higher elevated alcohol for me the problem is when the alcohol is not well integrated or it stands out or is it warming or worst case scenario burning so I don't know I would maybe guess that you should look for cooler vintages but cooler vintages might also come with higher acidity and maybe some green elements and not always the the most balanced wines I would also look for maybe uh not the best exposured sites uh or Vineyards that are higher up in the elevation lamora comes to my mind I don't see anyone reviewing or even talking about raisin wines to a remarkable extent I adore spat the velina and amarona de la valella would you give these a review well I think the reason why these are not the most popular wines or not as widely talked about is because they are made from dried grapes which will translate into higher or elevated alcohol wines which is not that popular right now and we are looking into wines with lower alcohol just look at the question before but I do think that these can be beautiful and remarkable wines also sometimes these wines tend to have some residual sugar to it and now we are all about the dry wine Styles so maybe that could be also an issue but let's be honest everybody knows amaron but I will keep this in mind and maybe try to make some videos about them closer I know this can be so difficult to answer but what is the greatest one you ever had I don't know it is a very difficult question let me think well I will say that it could be 2000 vintage Salon or 1989 Krug from Magnum bottle come to California I have been several times and I wish to come back yeah thank you for invite the elephant in the room residual pesticides in wine and why wine is the only food product that hasn't got ingredients labeled on the bottle that is gone now it should have the QR codes that you can scan and have all the ingredients listed on the bottles so that has changed so that is a good thing why do Champagnes make non-vintage KET blend but not highend red wines or white wine makers it's a very good question I think champagne as a region was very unpredictable climate wise and you could never know whether or not you would have you know good harvest or bad Harvest or your very good harvest could be wiped out you know during one uh day of heavy rain or hail so I think it was a kind of way to create consistency every year and uh it's actually interesting but red wines and white wines can also have small additions of different vintages it's just if it's within the like 10 or 15% that nobody really puts it on the label so it's not always the case that it is really a 100% from the very same vintage and it depends of appalation chares is this miss you I wish I was hi I like wine quizzes could you do that now and then of course I actually for a while did it for my Instagram account and I could do it again it was a lot of fun yeah I don't mind would you rather drink so Blan and then Mero or pinio and then pinoir pinio and then pinoir what are some white wines that would appeal or even turn a redon drinker the easiest answer that comes to my mind are the orange wines but they can be quite funky so I would say that maybe look for Fuller bodied richer style uh white wines maybe something from uh Northern or Southern Rome how do you manage to enjoy loads of wines and get not addicted to alcohol it is a hard work flirty to chill or not to chill that is the question slightly chill there are in s Amon gr Cruz and gr crew classes rather confusing want to know where the difference is and if both Grand crew categories work with the same rules and regulations so santon gr crew is an appalation and gr crew class is a classification that's the difference love to see a video on East European wines and Chinese wines also it would be great to get a no sediment te thank you and thank you for suggestions I will keep that in mind this year awesome two things spring to mind elucidating the use and abuse of the labels Premier and Gran crew to what extent are these labels useful to Consumers and indicative of quality I will say this uh as long as we are within Europe majority of them will make sense because it will be within the appellation for example if we are in burgundy then Grand crew should be of higher quality than Premier crew of course there are exceptions for example mer so which simply doesn't have any gr crew but their Premier Crew wines are often considered at the same level as gr crew two what makes a good vintage not just in terms of optimal conditions for growing grapes but once the wine is made what makes one vintage better than another and what exactly do we mean by better it is a very philosophical question but as I just realized talking with the G GAA on my podcast interview she said that she actually likes the Lesser vintages she thinks that sometimes they deliver better they are more interesting you know and they definitely will be more affordable so it is a philosophical question where the answer lies within ourselves but one point I would like to mention is that that the good vintage should have longer potential than the Lesser vintage how to shop wine like a pro what do you look for when you browse an unknown assortment of wines to find the good ones and avoid the not so good ones I think a lot of normal Shoppers are just scanning the ones using Vino when trying to find a good wine but I would like to learn more on what to look for and how to spot the gems long question why it is a question that I have been asked over and over again and I don't know the answer to it the only answer that comes to my mind is study taste write down your tasting notes write down what you like write down what you don't like and uh read about the wines that you taste and you enjoy uh other than that it is very difficult I think because each of us have their own preferences and what maybe is a gem for myself is not necessarily a gem for you not likely a topic worthy of video but do you have any tips other than vintage bottle age on how to tell when one should default to a cork puller rather than a quk screw are there visual signs one can see on the cork through the bottleneck had to use a stainless steel te strainer to remove cork from two bottles of head old cabern soone recently that were only 10 years old but I managed to break both corks and was unable to remove all of the remaining parts as you mentioned I usually use the Vintage and the bottle age but one more thing you can follow up is to look and examinate the cork itself if the wine has penetrated through the Cork and you already see it on the top the chances are great it will be very fragile and moist so it is best to use these however saying this it really depends and I was just breaking two quirks yes I did break two quirks of 2008 Roha directly from the winery so it was not poorly selled or anything it was just a very fragile and and and soft cork type that's it and uh I mean to use this it's always a good idea you can use it you know even for a uh young vintages it doesn't really matter it's a very great thing to use what about the coastal wines from Spain there is so much more to Spanish wines than you have covered so far true I personally love single variety wines from the bobal I have not seen a video mentioning that on YouTube so far than thank you so much for the suggestion the thing is I try to cover wines wine regions and great varieties that I feel comfortable with that I have traveled to and I have videos that I can show also and you don't necessarily need to look at my face while I'm talking about wine constantly so I will plan to do that uh it's not because I don't like them or I don't think that they are worthy you know of a YouTube video or anything it's just there are wines that you feel comfortable able with and you understand and it is easier for you to talk about them and there are wines that you may be know less and it's completely fine you know all the wine professionals they will focus on one specific thing there are many who Focus only on bordeau who Focus only on Tuscany or champagne or haris and uh maybe I haven't been focusing on Spain as much but I hope to change that sometime soon why didn't you call me after the meeting I'm I'm sorry I was extra busy what is the best bakery in Ria I don't eat sweets as much and bread to be honest so I wouldn't know I wouldn't be the best person to ask this question what's your favorite wine store in Paris hm I don't know answer to that as well because my favorite city in France is Baux top wine trends for 2024 Jura I think will be big Greece will be big Austria will continue to grow burgundy will decline slightly I think not in quality but in popularity because we will not be able to afford it would be grateful for your best tips for good value burgundy um I think I made a video about where to look for Value burgundy I will link it here I think it is much better to watch it and maybe read some comments because many of you also commented on uh great value burgundy wines on that video so I think it is best to watch that video and read the comments how did your passion for wine begin if you remember I did a podcast video with the uh current world champion rymond Thompsons and he had a big deal or big role to play in it and uh another one of my colleagues and they both had their passion and the way they were talking about wine like a complete different person instead of you know a beverage and I fell in love with that and I started to read and I started to learn and I started to study and I just fell in love it was just something so beautiful and interesting and exciting and of course it gave you a bit of Buzz and uh yeah so this is how it started opinion on alal longa sparkling wines I actually quite like them and I forgot to mention them because it's such a small region I forgot to mention them it's also a great value sparkling wine for sure what are you doing in Bordeaux madm Melle well traveling and enjoying good food and wine of course what else thank you for all your questions I hope I didn't miss any and if I did I'm really sorry and now let's pick a winner who will get this no sediment hat random comment picker congratulations GP Donavan 3753 please DM me on YouTube or on Instagram about your delivery details
