[Music] magnum push bears are used to stabilize augment and even lift existing structure foundations this video explains the typical installation process that you can expect to be performed push pier locations are marked in accordance with the layout typically they will be spaced two feet off of the corners of each wall and five to six feet on center thereafter often the piers will be placed on each side of a crack placing the piers under windows or doors located on the same floor as the piers is avoided whenever possible the locations are confirmed to be clear of ledges sills bay windows pipes or other bump outs that would interfere in proper vertical ram alignment the overburden is removed and the footing is exposed keeping in mind that pocket digging works well for stabilizing but trenching the entire footing is suggested when attempting a lift of the structure placing the dirt on a tarp or plywood allows the soil to be reused helps protect landscaping and makes cleanup easier the footing is faced so that the end result is as close to even with the load-bearing wall that it can be up to a one-and-a-half inch ledge can be left to ensure a smooth vertical cut of the footing the bracket is attached to the face footing using magnum approved wedge anchors installed to the proper depth the installer verifies that the bracket has good contact and that the pier is going to be driven straight the ram is then placed on the collar of the bracket it is lifted so the safety bolt can then be tightened through the ram shoe and into the middle hole of the bracket the hydraulic hoses are attached from the pump to the ramp the first push pier segment is inserted through the collar of the bracket a friction ring is then placed on this segment beneath the bracket the hydraulic pump is engaged to drive the pier while the operator is monitoring the pressure on the gauge because each segment is longer than the stroke of the ram the use of a spacer is needed to complete the drive a record is kept of the pressure achieved in three foot intervals additional segments are added until the maximum pressure for the pier is achieved or we start to see movement in the structure there are many ways to monitor the movement of the structure the most common procedures are using survey marks in a transit or a laser level with tape marks on the structure once the termination criterion has been met the pressure is held on the pier for 15 minutes to make sure that the pier does not continue to advance this performs a load test on the pier ensuring the capacity of the pier bracket and the connection to the structure magnum requires less than 1 32nd of an inch of movement in this time frame to pass the test once the pier has passed the load test the pressure can be lowered back down to one third of the drive pressure and the lock-off procedure can begin a steel hole cutting bit and cutting oil are used to drill out the pier through the two visible bolt holes in the collar the bolts are impacted into these holes to provide a shear lock off the ram can now be removed and when required a third bolt can be drilled and installed where the safety bolt was located the pier is then cut so that three to four inches remain above the collar of the bracket this allows for future adjustment of the pier if needed [Music] after the first pier is complete the ram can be moved to the remaining locations when performing a stabilization the process is repeated until all piers have been driven and locked off the holes can now be backfilled and the landscaping replaced magnum's push pier system has been used to support hundreds of thousands of homes and structures for over 40 years quality is enhanced and risk of any further foundation movement is reduced because every magnum push pier bracket and connection to the structure is proof tested during installation you can be confident that a properly installed magnum push pier system will provide long lasting support
