rebounds or something they're really going to look at it was a huge Advantage for Purdue in Purdue's loss last time at wel shyan Arena but he said we've got to keep him closer to 10 offensive rebounds they were at 16 in that game that's going to be a tall task but rebounding is going to be the game two STS to watch does Purdue turn it over and can Northwestern lock down the defensive glass bradden Smith against Buie to start things off we saw in the first meeting every time Zack e touched the ball post trap came immediately it's the plan again tonight here's Braden Smith the runner drops well he's really looked for his own offense last two games 11 of 14 from the field went through a little bit of a lull with his own scoring was still really making plays for others but right there out of the trap looking to get into that pained area may have been the reason they won rut on Sunday Ty Barry working inside and Ed with a rebound here's bradden Smith only player in the nation averaging 12 points five rebounds seven assists per game yet not on the Koozie wit top 10 list for the best point guard America ball loose on the floor Edy goes down to get it scramble for it and a tie up will give it to Northwestern mat payner head coach of the Purdue boiler makers looking for win number 433 at the helm tonight his 19th season I thought the way that he summed up the Koozie list was really really well done it was like the sectional drawing in Indiana where you just draw it out of the Hat that's something they got those guys well if you have a list of the top 10 point guards in America and it doesn't include Braden Smith or jir young what are you doing I don't think it's a legitimate list how can you ignore the play of those two there's Ryan langbo three won't go and T Hoffman Rend with the rebound now is Purdue going to have to contain the bounce cuz that's always something with Bo buy but langborg and Barry off those screens they're going to have to contain that as well foul on the floor as Lance Jones zigged and zagged his way through the paint Chris Collins a five game winning streak he's trying to end tonight for Purdue they have played well as well six and three for the second straight year in Big 10 play against a very tough first half schedule second game against Purdue they played Michigan State they played Wisconson they've had a real grind two games against Illinois already you look at their schedule on the back half of those those last 10 and there's a real opportunity for Northwest oh Lance Jones talk about a guy who's made an impact the Southern Illinois transfer makes it 5 nothing Purdue that had to feel good for Lance Jones 0 for six from three at Ruckers but you know he can make them I've been shooting it really well outside of that game and there just lines it up from the top of the key and drills it Ty Barry provides the answer for Northwestern he's been so solid two games since he only had six points at Nebraska he has just been a guy that you can count on and I think that Ty Barry when he struggles Northwestern struggles he's been a real X Factor and good for the cast to see him make one early and don't be surprised to see him hit those three second in the league in three-point percentage this year whip that pass over to Lance Jones he'll try again and the rebound to langoy oh Jones almost picked his pocket got to be careful with Lance Jones lurking yeah five steals ruers barnheiser slips and on the way down to travel turns it over to Purdue I'm really looking forward to seeing what what Brooks barnheiser looks like tonight he's been phenomenal this season really established himself as the second scoring option for the cats but you feel like he played at Lafayette Jeff just down the road his parents are here tonight Heidi and Mark and you have to think that this is a game that he's had circled on his calendar for quite some time and the heart's got to be beaten a little bit faster playing here there's that trap again and it forces the turtle trap buy pushing end to end Bren Smith picked it away buoy in some trouble needs to get it out of there in a turnover the effort by Purdue to get back I did Lance Jones hurdle booooy right it looked like he did he did but Purdue's effort this transition defense the effort by Braden Smith the Hands by multiple guys and then he gets right back in the play that's got to just make Matt payer so happy to see his guys given that type of effort transition there's Smith Nicholson chasing him out that leaves Ed alone against [Applause] bar buoy quiet so far and a foul is called on the catch buoy bumped and that'll be on Fletcher lawyer his first this is such a tough guard here for Northwestern you see North the cats want to be up with the screen you've got Kaufman Ren posting barnheiser but that whole back side of the floor is cleared out so he's got to take a posting Trey Kaufman Ren and also Zack Edy rolling into the rim that's not an easy place to be and you see Ed paint it off with the jam how do you defend that if you're northwester you're you're just you're stuck ball pressure has got to limit that pass and that's how you take that away little strong on the three from barnheiser Smith looking to push ahead to Jones to the rim for two look at the way Purdue is just zoning up right now boooy gets a ball screen and and now Purdue's got to rotate out of it and Barry shoots the three over the zone that get you out of his Zone quick if Barry's hit three they're just looking because Boo buy the way he got downhill against Purdue's guards back in December they they're trying to take that away we'll see if Northwestern who shot it so well in Big 10 play can take Purdue out of that zone don't see a lot of Purdue Zone as the post trap comes again Ed in trouble on the Baseline finds lawyer rotation to Smith got a good look and then a foul underneath Nichols and Ed tied up underneath and the holds called on the wild cats and a Timeout on the floor well it field play I feel like this is your pitch to get him to apologize just one more time hopefully it's TX is incoming via Spain booy quiet so far tonight has yet to attempt a shot they changed the foul it is not on Nicholson so it's on barnheiser would have been two on Nicholson but instead barnheiser gets his first foul eight to shoot lawyer drives inside that one off way a ton of contact there at The Rim but I love the fact that Fletcher lyer is in attack mode it hasn't been nearly as consistent the last two games but he has had moments this year where he has had tremendous game scoring the ball Luke hunger on the floor replacing Nicholson the entry down low looking for a little space as Martinelli he can't find that good job by Puda to trap and get that ball out cuz martinell can really score with his back to the basket buoy against Ethan Morton under five on the shot clock out it goes to Barry driving inside Martinelli the three at the horn drops they used every tick of that shot clock and they're going to look just to make sure that it got off in time that was so Good by the Northwestern Wildcats simple drive and kick basketball but on both of them give them a bit of a scoring punch Off the Bench I me can score in the post he is a capable three-point shooter started the season slow because of a foot injury in the fall but now you can tell he's playing with so much confidence and you and I were talking before the game wood northwestern's three-point shooting hot of late travel so far it has three of five from three they were shooting 57% the last two games from three as lawyer answers with one of his own that was terrific by Braden Smith northwestern's being really aggressive with these ball screens they're not in that drop they're at the level of the ball with that big and still he was able to make that pass across the floor and find Fletcher lawyer locked and loaded got a whistle and a foul leer lawyer discussing with Kip Kissinger as he picks up his second personal foul coming up the double header rolls on as the NY lions and Scarlet Knights clash in Piscataway next presented by Ram trucks only on the Big 10 Network in the Fox Sports app LG inbound for Northwestern and tipped Away by Ethan Morton prod switching out those screens you saw Bren Smith on the the ball he was taken whoever was coming off that screen to the corner and then Ethan Morton just staying in the play there's barnheiser Bing Gillis on the floor and on him Barry will try again from range and gets his third three of this first half well he's just flying off these pin downs and that's something that Chris Collins has gone to the last eight or nine games for for both langborg and Barry they've looked to bring them off screens get them moving and it is paid off Big Time 26 combined points a two-point game Zach Edy and booo have combined for two we've got a whistle and a foul away from the ball but it's been the story tonight Ty Barry range from outside we saw in December that the three Northwestern guards really hurt Purdue it's a simple screen for the screener play he's set in that back screen and he's flying off a pin down you got a lock and Trail and that's where Ty Barry and Ryan langborg have both found some real success here the last 10 Martinelli with his first foul a moment ago three on Northwestern two on Purdue early cam then Heidi at a foul underneath trying to get position Luke hunger picks up his first CHR Collins talked about how he liked the chippiness that Luke hunger brought in that Ohio State game I'll give Coach Collins a ton of credit because he's pushed a lot of buttons with his bigs this year whether that's Matthew Nicholson Blake Preston Luke hunger you all three of those guys certainly Nicholson playing some of his best ball of the season over the last four but he is just kind of mixed and matched and gone with the hot hand well he's they got their hands full tonight obviously with Zach Ed rotation around to Heidi that three won't go and a rebound Preston trying to get it it's loose on the floor the tie up will keep it with a Boilermakers Luke PR was a terrific rebounder at Liberty and I think mat wants to and remember guys in the game at Welsh Ryan Zack e fouled three bigs for Northwestern 14 of 15 fouls they were down to one foul so Chris Collins has said look he knows that Blake Preston Luke hunger Matthew mickson he's going to need all 15 of those fouls to compete with Zack Edy and a turnover to Northwestern and he'll use all 15 of those fouls to compete against Zack Ed well you have to because it's a battle of attrition you're looking at playing as one of the best players in the country or the best player in the country I thought that ball was knocked off the leg of Blake pres yeah you can't review obviously we're well before the two-minute Mark so no review is coming as buoy looking for his first two points and the rebound ripped down by Braden Smith and he'll start it off quiet so far for Buie two point Purdue lead Braden Smith in some trouble able to find Heidi roll under the rim and he'll go to the free throw line for a pair this is what you were talking about a moment ago should this have been Purdue ball uh yes yes definitely hit off if you Jones but then ricochetting off the leg there of Blake Preston if you count Blake Preston's leg as part of the Court then yes Barry with the foul sending Camden Heidi to the line it's a rare opportunity for Heidi that's just his eighth free throw of the year I think in a game like this you look at the way that he has defended this year his his size and his physical tools allow him to be on the court and on top of that the way that he's understood the defensive concepts of Purdue in a game where there's going to be some guards that can get their game on Ryan langborg T Barry boo buy you're going to need guys to come out here and defend with some size are you surprised only one shot attempt for buoy tonight no points yeah no but you know what he he kind of played his way into the game against Ohio State too their their balance was what was so impressive and that's a great two-man game there Ryan langborg and Matthew Nicholson that side is cleared out and Nicholson has been so much better rolling to the rim we've seen more of last year's Matthew Nicholson over the last two weeks or so than we've seen all year averaging almost 10 points a game over the last five in the corner off the feed GIS is three w't go Ed there for the rebound and there's a foul Martinelli from behind Nicholson up front and it'll be Martinelli who picks up the personal foul and that's his second Matthew Nicholson's been living dangerously here she's been really close on some of these calls but that's going to be the game and you know you can say it as much as you want as a coach you know it's been preached I thought Northwestern was so much better against Ohio State rebounding they were against the the fighting Ali eye in the previous game but this is a different deal you know you've got a guy that 74 rebounds outside of his area Purdue's the best offensive rebounding team in the conference well if you're Northwestern you have to live with free throw attempts they allowed Purdue to go 31 of 41 in the first meeting you know they're going to be at the line tonight well and Chris Collins has talked about how they have to score and this is not a game that they can win 6560 cuz Purdue is going to score points want to reach in on Lance Jones a long way from the basket Jones getting a little greedy picks up his foul first foul line buy got an open look from three and there's the first points for the League's fourth leading score West has been on fire from three now five of seven from Beyond The Arc simple roll and replace she got that handoff what an effective action to have booy raising from behind playing him off the basketball 26 for 44 the last two and a half games from three they have not cooled off away from home Jones a little ankle breaker strong and the buoy who had his ankles broken got it and lost it Jones will try again this three won't go and Nicholson will try it down there is an intensity in Mackie Arena tonight barnheiser gives Northwestern the lead by a pair those count that's just one-on-one coming off the pick and roll he's got kayb bur there putting a little bit of English on it and Brook barnheiser is a real player he's just been tremendous in the last month Jones the split and the Finish you're heding that ball screen you have got got to stay connected Western losing a little bit of that connectivity there Lance Jones splitting it and getting all the way downhill seven in this first half for Jones it's Lang board steps back for a deep two and splashes it home like offense both these teams that Mak put the ball in the basket Northwestern shooting a ridiculous 66% from the field Purdue not too shabby either at 50 there's Jones driving inside and charging foul that's number two on Lance Jones and that's a big call with 1018 to play in the first half Jones is key for Purdue he battled foul trouble in the L barnheiser and Braden Smith and of course Brooks has no rebounds tonight BR Smith with two rebounds early in this one you love little guards and Brooks barnheiser is by no means a little guard because he's right at that limit but to see Braden Smith that high and Baris are a guy that just he's going he's crashing every time and speaking of crashing Ethan Morton crashing into boooo he's party takes it away and Purdue back to work Edy off the floor right now Caleb first running Baseline lawyer with two fouls going to work ball stripped out of his hands buoy on the push low pass and Morton intercepts back to back turnovers there Ethan that's what he's in the game for though he is in there for his defense and his movement of the basketball and now that's paying off for Purdue two steals [Applause] early that one back up top to lawyer shot clock at 10 lawyer to work against Buie in traffic Tre Hoffman red just muscles that one to the basket offensive rebound first lawyer open three and the rebound and a foul that'll be on first as he collides with Ty bar and a foul on Caleb first as we go over to Andy cats one of the biggest differences with this Northwestern team really more so than last year and certainly in years's past is they've got a short memory they've proven to be so resilient and to talk to Chris colins he's talking about look after the Chicago State loss which of course was shocking they go on the road they beat depal they beat Arizona State and Phoenix after the blowout loss to Illinois by 30 they turn around they beat Michigan State at home they win to Penn State and they did play well in Los to Wisconsin Nebraska this team has a short memory not just in games but in possessions two turnovers and here's boo going to the basket right past Edy and got it over the big man he's got five in a 2319 Northwestern League I just think it's been amazing to see how Northwestern has kind of had to refine themselves because last year they were a team that played so much off their defense and now you look at this group that they have shot the ball so well in a more offensive oriented group what what ball movement by Purdue to swing it around and get it to a wide open Zack coming off that screen Ed rolling to the rim and there's just nobody home weak site defense nowhere to be found there with Zach Ed at The Rim 820 to go around the screen the ball dropped off to hunger who tracks it down Barry's had the hot hand early he'll try a contested two and he'll rattle it in he is out here balling I mean whether it's the threes coming off the screens or they're making a play off the bounce getting to that step back Ty Barry has been phenomenal tonight 11 already for Barry Edy looking finds Smith little hesitation and then the attack off the window he's so under control with his game OB it's so impressive I think he's a top 10 point guard in college basketball he's not he's not on he's not on the Koozie list Sor St yeah neither he nor jir Young langor from the elbow that's a little strong and there's Smith with another rebound that's one area where langborg has regressed early in the season that pullup was almost automatic for him now shooting it better from three but hasn't been nearly as good from [Applause] [Music] two that's that power of Zach e there you got Fletcher lawyer so smart kind of rubs his man off and now the crowd starting to get involved here at Mackie Arena hunger will try from deep and Luke hunger who's five of 16 from three have to get back quickly to defend Edy a no look pass to Edy who's battling hunger inside and with one arm misses the shot but the foul on Luke hunger a time out Ryan langborg in the wild cats but Ty Barry has been fabulous I think you look at Purdue it hasn't so much been Zack e only two field goal attempts only two free throws so far but it's been some of the Supporting Cast guys lawyer has seven Jones has seven we highlighted buoy and Zach Edy in the start at the start of this broadcast and it's been the other guys around those two six points now for Ed breaks the yeah buo in that first meeting this year had 31 points and no turnovers in the game already four turnovers for The Talented guard for Northwestern in the last four games Kevin he's only got seven turnovers so it's really surprising to see that big number here in the first half barnheiser second time he's slipped and Jones ends up with a loose ball to the other end for an easy two absolutely right we've seen barnheiser just kind of lose his footing for the second time there and that's Lance Jones opportunistic just going the other way it is not the fault of the Purdue ice hockey team there is no ice under this floor at Mackie Arena looks bariz are made to put plates on Barry launching that's a heat check and that's an airball Chris Collins not happy with the shot selection there and Ty Barry Pat his chest saying my bad he's really the first mistake he's made tonight shot it so well I think if you were paraphrasing what Chris Collins was saying there as Ty Barry came over was look at the shot clock you can get that shot any that whenever absolutely three-point Purdue Le Edy with the catch foul by Nicholson I mean like he on his seriously it's not an easy pass to handle there Mason Gill just rifling this in impressive stop that's the second on Nicholson he's been close to having four at this point in the first half no kidding but that's basically a repeat of what we saw in December [Applause] yep that first game it'll be up to Blake Preston we've got a whistle and a foul and I believe Preston picks up the personal trying to clean out the interior to get some space and to get the rebound and now free throws again for Purdue Mason Gillis will go to the line I think Mason Gillis is in the Sixth Man of the Year discussion I think Nick marelli is as well we were talking before the game CJ wilcher maybe the front runner right now I would I would think so he's had a tremendous year but Mason Gillis you know he's playing on one of the best teams in the league and just the way he's played beast on the offensive glass and shooting a ridiculous almost 52% from three and 82% at the line I mean don't sleep on the fact that he's in there banging around at times earns the trip to the stripe and can knock it down at a pretty good clip I think John Blackwell has to be in that discussion as well but certainly going to be interesting the last 10 games of big 10 play that race will really take shape as well tenuous moment in this first half for Northwestern five-point game and they get bu going against Ed and Edy change that shot all the way over the backboard and a turnover back it goes to the boiler makers that's oneon-one Purdue going to switch these late ja Ed is just an enormous human being so to get that thing over him [Applause] if you had a shots affected statistic in basketball he'd have he'd lead the league he'd lead the world cuz he affects so many shots Smith picked up his dribble and found lawyer for three and a timeout Northwestern the best job of manufacturing game the environment to an already Rowdy atmosphere Brad Underwood said look the Acoustics in this place take a basketball in here when you're just by yourself you can hear the ball echoing off the top he says it feels like there's endless amount of students tremendous energy and Robbie he said it is not a wine and cheese proud like you're used to wow shot fire boy buoy in some trouble trying to keep his dribble alive nine to shoot and he needs some help five on the shot CL Lango from the elbow somehow got control of that to get that shot up not only you have the primary Defender but you've got Bren Smith behind him big time shot by Ryan langborg that silences the crowd here at Mackey but not a wine and cheese crowd Robie no no it's not Joe gets him going again 12 points for Lance Joe both he and lawyer have been playing on and off with those two fouls Barry launching can't find the range that he had early Ed the rebound Purdue looking to push and looking to extend the lead as Smith is fouled by langboard on the way in yeah I don't think Chris Collins like that shot either it's just early in the shot clock Ty Barry made some tough ones early I think Collins you understand when you go on the road to an environment like this and this place gets rocking and rolling the best thing you can do is move the ball CU cuz now you give yourself an opportunity to get an easy bucket an open look and Ty Barry can make that shot but boy it can snowball on you in a hurry you start taking some quick tough ones and it has snowballed into a 10-point Purdue lead remember this was a 25 ball tie just a blink of an eye ago and Purdue has rested firm control of this game from the wild cats two free throws for bradden Smith he's got six points on the evening and buo buy to bring it up 17-2 Perdue run buy and barnheiser which is 7 points combined buy trying to get going oh that like a shot put at The Rim rolls around it looks like he might have rolled his ankle coming down loves that floater it's his deal where he's trying to stand on top of his foot look at you and he didn't have his point shoes on but he does appear to be okay that's it's great to see he's a guy that to me has locked himself in that first team all big 10 spot certainly a lot of basketball left but God he he has just turned into such a good player and what a feed fighting the wide open Camden Heidi for the flush Purdue taking advantage of that trap they use a back screen Mason Gillis sets a massive screen that freeze Heidi uncontested at The Rim from Edy and dominating as you might imagine in the paint 20 to8 in points in the paint in favor of the boiler makers here's buoy elevating for three and he splashes down a huge Northwestern bucket well he used that screen beautifully bra Smith Goes removed and he just fades it right back towards that left [Applause] wing Smith back to work with Purdue up eight a Bounce Down l a turnover buoy will push it ahead right off the hands of barer flipped back into play by the boiler makers and then turned right back over to Northwestern none of that will go on any postseason highlight re no it will not alther Skelter here both teams and take a look at this Mason Gillis screen you know that the Trap is coming langborg gets caught up on the back screen and there is just nobody home for Heidi on that jam D board curling to the Elbow now has to back that one out North Western within eight late first half hunger attacking against Edie and he's fouled by the big man go to the line for great take right there by Luke hunger and we've seen a lot of bigs this season fake that dribble hand off and just take it to the rim but he got Ed off balance got him in the air and Luke hunger I think it kind of started you know in the Purdue game he had to play because of foul trouble had six points made a big three but he's had 10 against Illinois 10 against Michigan State he can he can score well speaking of scoring how about booi he is now second all time at northwester 1921 points and now the crowd cheering for chicken if you miss backto back free throws free chicken it's happened twice and it will not happen Luke hunger after named trying to keep an entire crowd from free chicken it's just amazing to me in all the venues that have this and it's it's growing by the day it feels like it's some of the loudest cheers you hear for the free chicken smth High floater tipped around into the hands of Gillis working in the paint Gillis the back that one out they'll reset 12 to shoot I think Mason Gillis is understanding of Ro definition is as good as anybody in the conference trickle to Gillis in the corner for three Ed with the SW up Smith alliv short and Ed trying to swat it again with ti Berry cradles it's a dangerous game for the cats that they've got to be better on the glass buoy starting to feel it he's hit another three and here come the cats scratching back to four and what a response and just like that we're talking about how boy what what a a tough half for buoy and you look at the score sheet he's got 13 he's five of eight and now three of four from three nice little show by Preston to back Smith up the lob inside carams off the hands of Heidi shot clock at 10 Smith with the shot fake and lawyer with the Finish nice decision there by BR Smith you got a Defender helping uphill and he wisely just dumps that off to Fletcher lawyer State Farm halftime report coming up Dave rson Rael Davis and Bruce Weber that's your queue get set we're almost ready to come to you for the safe far halftime report it looks like Purdue is kind of doing that zone up thing again they're trying to take away buoy and his ability to drive the runner short got a good look though just a bit short on that one six-point game for Purdue oh what a pass Smith whips it into the corner open three from it's just so high level the fact that he can whip that thing across his body Mason Gillis shooting over 50% from three on the Year big response again Northwestern responded Purdue responds do the cats have one more play in him before halftime Barry fakes the three gathers and hits a giant three for Northwestern what a great use of the shot fake right there Heidi goes flying by and still tries to contest but Ty Barry another one from Deep three seconds Smith lost it and a foul he's going to shoot free throws with 1.8 left in this first half as Ty Barry picks up the personal foul and for Barry it's his second that's just a tough play there Ty Barry that's going to be a tough contested shot you cannot take that foul right there Smith two for two tonight at the line he's a 79% foul shooter and he hits the [Applause] first you know what though we've said that Northwestern was not going to win this 6560 they didn't do that the first game back in December they're going to have to score and they they for the most part they they've done that here in the first eight points and nine assists for Smith and a block for Heidi sends us to halftime how about a contest of a half contest right there got to stop turning the ball over and of course try to stay out of foul trouble but they know that's the case when you guard Zack remember three bigs 15 fouls we'll see how it goes here in the second half yeah only seven turnovers it wasn't a huge issue for Northwestern but they came at some difficult times for the Wild and just for that they're a team that doesn't turn the basketball over lineb going keeping that toe down you look at their numbers on the year I mean they're fourth nationally in turnovers per game yeah only nine per game so they're closing in on their game number very quickly here's Barnard and they'd love to get him going in this second half that's a good start and I like that they went right to him because he had a tough first half a physical play got to the body of Trey Kaufman Ren and then he's got an assortment of ways that he can score around the basket they need him to get into the scoring column just four points for barer who's averaged 18 points per game over the last seven Trey Koffman Ren left alone for three in the rebound langor just seven of 17 for Trey this year he can make him but hasn't taken all that many the last six or seven games here's buoy probing looks up there's Zack Edy he says I'd like to go somewhere else I think he thought he was going to have Ed out there for the switch but lawyer wisely passed Ed off and took the ball himself here's buoy against lawyer ball tipped away still loose Buie diving for it able to save it jumping into the front Court they've got to get a shot up it's Barry from Deep H wow a scramble three out standing but buoy is still [Applause] [Music] [Applause] down crowd here believes it was an over and back you may be able to hear from some of the folks at macki Arena on the throw back toward towards half court the question the question would be does he get two feet back in see buoy here he oh he got kind of gets landed on looked like the backside of Lance Jones collided with the head of booo and I thought langor got both of those feet down into the front court before he actually touched the basketball there Smith flips it out to Jones back to Ed there's that post trap in some trouble Ed going to work and that's Nicholson shot block but a foul cylinder R we might not even we might as well not even have it and I think the r stinks anyway so I I'm okay with them not calling it but if you're by the letter of the law this is an aggressive trap Edy kind of playing his way through it you see the contact on the arm barnheiser gets him and 's going to go to the line foul number two on barnheiser and on the first Bo buy they're working on that neck so it's a pin in the neck perhaps when he got bumped by Jones nothing malicious or intentional about it just a collision scrambling for the ball 81 for two Nicholson plucks the board four-point game early second half this has been a fun one to start our double header night on the Big 10 Network almost a Northwestern turnover Barn Heiser against Drake Hoffman red step back Lely glancing off rebound out of bounds it'll go to Purdue just not a great possession there for Northwestern a lot of confusion and certainly you know booooy on the sideline you're going to have to make plays without him he just kind of gets rolled into and almost sat on there by Lance Jones is still working on his neck on the Northwestern bench lawyer it's inside the paint dumps it to Ed there's the Trap feeds Trey cman Ren blocked out of bounds nice defensive play by Ty bar no doubt because he's given up some real size to Trey Kaufman Ren he's fighting him down there and the active hands saves a bucket eight to shoot Ed deep in the post Nicholson strips it away C Ren finds it gets his own Miss and puts it in he'll go to the line for a chance at one more Purdue just comes and waves at you on the offensive glass and if it's not 80 it's going to be kman Ren it's going to be Gillis it's going to be first those guys are flying around loose ball is there it doesn't go the first time for Trey Kaufman Ren but he stays with the play that's how he impacts games getting on the offensive glass three-point play cannot go the rebound tipped into the hands of Nick Martinelli buy at the scores table waiting to come back in still harnessing a little bit twisting his neck around the Post Feed to Nick Martinelli and a good finish it's an Elite pass and a great catch and the way that Martinelli just kept his Defender sealed up the lane that was well done seems like a simple play but those simple fundamentals get you buckets good part got bigger in the off season and he's been able to use that extra size and weight to his Advantage at times this year great B for ra just surrounded by purple and he's fouled by Matthew Nicholson that'll be the third on the bearded big man for Northwestern buy will come back in as will Luke hunger after the first free throw attempt for Tre Koffman [Applause] Ren short 59% free throw shooter Nicholson leaves langor Leads Here Comes boo buy back on the floor northwestern's going to win this game on the road clearly they got to have boooo play do and it's pretty amazing when you look at the the minutes numbers for these Northwestern guards Buie is third in the Big 10 barnheiser second line board in the top 10 at n these guards are long in a ton of minutes and you said it if they're going to win this is going to be the guy that brings him home yeah it's not a surprise buoy seeing barnheiser at 36 minutes a game is a bit of a surprise good work inside by hunger he got right to the chest of Zack Edy there's that two-man action the the whole backsides cleared out and hunger with some real physicality going right through Zack Edy Rob that's the second time tonight we've seen Luke do that he's he's been really aggressive I think Chris Collins talked about at post Ohio State the chip on his shoulder that he's kind of played on recently off the red he's starting to be asserted five now for the sophomore from Indiana you think back to that Illinois game where he just torch the fighting Ali this is the most aggressive that he's been looking for his own offense since then 23 in that one he was ridiculously good in that game here's hunger he'll try from Deep L hunger can't get it to go Northwestern still not able to get an offensive Rebound in this game Bren Smith probing and draws the contact and the foul on Ty Barry third on Barry and foul trouble starting the mount for the visitors from EV 10 player of the week award he got a slow start to this one tonight but 13 points now on five of nine shooting well I I love watching him play and I I also really enjoy thinking back to what he was as a freshman and now seeing what he is as a graduate student you know the fact that he has gone from a guy that is looking for his own to now looking to make plays for others while also being a guy that you still know can give you 20 he's just a great player in this league and you think about his legacy when it's all said and done if they make the NCA tournament this year which I think they will the numbers speak for themselves but going to two NCA tournaments and all of his accolades he's one of the best players to ever play at Northwestern Harry on the bench after picking up that third foul before the timeout here's Martinelli throwing it towards the rim langborg Scoops it up and a second chance that's an offensive rebound for Northwestern they've had one buoy looking for Second Chance points how about three of them and buoy brings the cats within two you got that drop coverage and that means that buoy if you can pick off this the defender and that's exactly what what Luke hunger did there bu buy is just walking in to a three cuz Ed's going to be [Applause] back not a bad guy to walk into a three that's what you want with the ball in their hands Smith after missing a couple three thr rare misses and the ball tipped out of bounds by langborg 4.9 on the shot play it's a good thing he got a finger on that because you got two guys rotating to Ethan Morton who's shooting 23% from three and you were going to leave Mason Gillis who's 50 plus now Morton will leave lawyer will come back in an outstanding [Applause] shooter inbound comes to Smith Smith probing has to Hoist the shot and he's fouled buoy with the personal first on Buu and that means free throws coming for Braden Smith who just missed a couple of moment [Applause] ago kind snuck that in the sidebo he'll take it now Purdue among major Conference teams makes more free throws in anybody in college basketball but BR Smith well he's frustrated right now his first make he didn't look like he was comfortable shooting it you could see kind of his reaction to the way that he snuck it in and then that last one back iron how about that difference though 13 of 22 Northwestern has attempted two free throws tonight 20 attempt difference in this game as barnheiser steps back the air ball out of bounds to Purdue and Chris Collins is telling him drive the basketball put the onus on the defense and the officials to make calls barniv is a guy he'll reel and deal but that step back you can get that you said it earlier with Ty Barry you can get that shot at any time well part of the reason why you have a 20 free throw difference in this game you're not forcing that call and we've got a whistle on a foul underneath trying to battle for position against Z Luke hunger picks up the foul that's number three on Hunger number six on Northwestern as a team and look to the right of that score bug at the bottom of your screen no fouls whistled against Purdue in this second [Applause] half Ed working against Preston inside the def there bar Heiser really did the job from behind Buie to work inside drops it off for Martinelli I don't know how he got it to Mar the balance there booooy that's just big time point guard play I mean behind the back he's off balance but then he finds it dishes it off and Northwestern has hung in they're just a really good team I am so impressed with what Chris Collins has done with this group this season this is a tough team to play in a tougher building it's a one-point game in the second half here's Edy to work inside and the hook through contact with Blake Preston drops easily could have been a foul right there on Blake Preston kind of chucked him as he was going into that jump hook I think those midal post UPS will produce friend and they do that quite often haven't seen a lot tonight that's what I think Ed is going to look for I think it'd be wise for Purdue to do the same only nine points for Zack Edy early in this second half Preston trying to turn the corner on Ed patient in the paint gets rid of it to buoy tried to wrap it around and it's tipped out with six to shoot well this is just so impressive buoy with the ball on a string Lance Jones kind of pulls the chair and he still finds a cutting Nick Martinelli and Preston pushing him off the block early M midal post UPS can be very effective for Purdue inbound to langboard Baseline jumper drops Northwestern within one just a simple pin down you've got Ryan Lango getting to his spot raising up [Music] Wildcats are shooting 61% from the floor in this game and a steal by barnheiser to the other end looking for the lead and he flips it over the rim he wanted to hammer that thing but a little flat tire what a play though Brooks barnheiser in the passing Lanes he really struggled in that first half he's right of the ship in the second Gillis the open man what f for three that's an incredible pass because it's back Against the Grain you've got Braden Smith almost to that left block and he's hitting Gillis on the right wing langor the crowd quieter wow those three guards Ty Barry ran langborg and boooy hurt Purdue so badly 72 points between those three in the December game those three are living up to the billing once again here tonight second half they're really starting to flex their muscle here's Gillis open again for three that great look Edy with a rebound a little trouble with it but a foul the initial Bobble wasn't going to be a foul but the foul came late in a tie game 11 in this game has not committed a single turnover part of that plan playing him off the ball requires good contributions from langborg and barnheiser to handle it then which they can do just the third made free throw in the last nine attempts for Purdue but they are dominating at the line they've left some points out there just 61% from the line and two for Ed puts him into double figures his 73rd straight game in double figures two-point lead for Purdue buy against Morton and a foul the first Purdue foul of the second half goes on Braden Smith so Zack Edy with that consecutive games in double figures breaks a tie with the great Rick Mount he is the alltime leader in consecutive games scoring a double figure that is the rarest of air that you're going to see in terms of Purdue basketball you're talking about two incredible scores and two number one picks there's Martinelli to his left and there it is it's short but the tip won't go either from Preston he got a good look at the follow both those guys you'll take any Nick Martinelli left hand post up and Preston with an opportunity on the offensive glass just a second offensive rebound of the day for Northwestern it slides down that's a slick spot over there barnheiser slipped there in the first half they got numbers this is going to be an open one and buy will hit it an open three gives Northwestern the lead now BR Smith coming up a little bit hobbled but nor Western taking advantage he went down and five on four opportunity like he was rubbing his left hip a little bit as he came up the floor He Slipped over there on that right side of the lane the entry to the left side of Edy back to Gillis reposting is Edy no post trap oneon-one and that shot pin balls out to Northwestern and that that's what you will take every time down the floor if you're Purdue a rightand jump hook for Edie finally oneon-one coverage pretty amazing to see he's only taken five shots tonight is that the first time we've seen Northwestern not post trap him every single time he's faced two langborg will drop it off underneath the Preston Preston tried to get Edy going and a whistle and a turnover that's the action that Northwest just carved Illinois up on those simple pin [Applause] Downs eight Northwestern turnovers nine for Purdue both teams take good care of the ball Northwestern the best in the Big 10 cats by one under 10 to play what a battle tonight this really has a high level basketball game barnheiser trying for the steel instead he got caught with his hand in the cookie jar foul on barnheiser third on barnheiser one andone opportunity for Trey Kaufman Ren boy that's very close to being a play where barnheiser is taking this the other way and even with the foul disparity if you're Chris Collins You're not unhappy about the attempt by barnheiser got I think we've seen him get a play like that where goes through the passing Lanes gets a layup he's more than capable top five in the league in steals I think that's a very underrated aspect of his game ront in pinballs out to barnheiser and a foul going against Camden [Applause] Heidi first foul team second you think about the Northwestern wild cats both these games against Purdue they've taken some serious hay makers and just hung right in there and stayed right with [Applause] it Martinelli looking on the bounce finds Barry T to shoot for Martinelli working inside buy is going to have to go Martinelli tried to set the screen buy into the paint floater over rings out for pin Ren he got a good look nice A little slip there from Martin nelli open the door for buoy to get in the lane now Jones looking to attack I Like It by Lance Jones to to not take that four shot instead trying to make something happen at The Rim even if it doesn't work out didn't force that three like the defense from barnheiser good recovery Barry stops was just intent on shooting that three Chris Collins is frustrating Chris Collins reaction he did not like the shot Jones will turn the corner floats it over everyone Ed there to clean it up he just wears you out you know every time having to block out it's one of those things where you do that over a full 40 minutes it's exhausting it's like pushing a boulder up a hill yes not that I've done that we do that often in Omaha very big thing we do Boulders uphills buoy for three who all the way out of the rebound into the hands of Tre coff and red that's J fortunate cuz once again Purdue going removed on the screen Purdue by one got a whistle to foul a push against Northwestern that'll be on barnheiser foul trouble for Northwestern really starting to become an issue that's four on Brooks barnheiser and that'll prompt Ryan langborg to come off the bench Nicholson returns for the cats as well feels like everybody has three Martinelli with three Barry with three barnheiser with four hunger with three Nicholson with three it's it's a legit problem they have a lot of issues and this is very similar to that first game that Northwestern won in overtime front end of the one and one for Tre cin Ren won't go and we've got a whistle on the foul going against Purdue a push inside on Zack Ed second foul on the Purdue big man Purdue just 15 of 25 from the free throw line they were 31 of 41 in that first game on the year it's a good free throw shooting team 72% look at that disparity and a foul trying to get around that screen at the top Heidi picks up the personal foul at a Timeout on the floor I know you're not going anywhere it's a one-point game at mat at the line an 0 for two from three well and of those 10 assist nine came in the first half he had a tremendous half finding his teammates it's been a bit of a different story here in the second you mentioned to miss foul shots massive possession here for the cat they're going into Martinelli and going to try to play through him here's buoy against Jones shot cled down to 10 around the Nicholson screen buoy bump dumps it to Nicholson for the two Hand fly that's Is So Good by boooo he's keeping Lance Jones on his back never lets him get back into the play L Jones Never squares the basketball up that makes Ed help upill and there's Nicholson who's been so much better at The Rim as of late Jones all the way to the rim can't get it to go the tip by eating won't go everybody jumping for that basketball and it ends up in the hands of buy boy and Northwestern for the most part has survived on the glass tonight Purdue has gotten some offensive rebounds but it hasn't gotten out of hand just 10 well you watch Bo buoy play and it just shows there is still a spot in the college game for a guy to develop his game absolutely over the course of a career stayed in one place and he's now won the last two years he's a great story Barry with the shot clocking rattles it down deep in the corner for two that's the second time tonight Kevin that we've seen him go to that step back end of clock situation he's taken some tough ones some shots that maybe Chris Collins hasn't liked but they are just stepping up in the clock and making a play back to Ed there's the Trap from Martinelli return to Jones for three home we tied at 66 and just a little bit late from TY Barry that trap is coming to Ed that double team is there and Ty Barry has got to be there on that catch out Lor trying to beat Heidi to a spot into the corner buoy through short rebound into the hands of Lango and the wild cats back on top that's just a winning play by Ryan langor no block out there by Purdue he's just hanging around and with all the big bodies it's one of the smaller guards on the floor that makes the play Ed there's the Trap Back to Jones got the open look sa that's like the same exact play but except this time it's Ryan langborg not rotating out to Lance Jones langard around that Nicholson screen back and forth we go 70- 69 Northwestern and Purdue Princeton Southern Illinois no question they have had an impact in this game and this season for the respective teams all top five Big 10 teams have impactful transfers this season and most of them it seems come from the Missouri Valley Conference that is so true he could make an all Valley Big 10 team this year ason Gillis delance Jones all Valley all defensive team as well in the valley Edy inside against Nicholson with that left hand Well Done by Purdue because they gave Zach Edy so much space the the floor was balanced to the left side that allowed Edy one-on-one coverage long way to run on that trap and he takes advantage on the right block Buie little hesitation on the way in these two teams are so well coached I don't know how many times we've seen excellent offensive sets out of timeouts as py just splashes down a three I mean his clutch percentage as you get into the winning time plays of 5 minutes and under just ridiculous and you have to remember buoy langborg and Barry scored 72 points in that first meeting they've now got 53 here tonight six of nine is buoy from three lawyer tried to answer canot buy with his fifth rebound Bo 22 points after such a slow start five rebounds four assists you knew that he was going to keep bringing it I mean he he is just a guy that every night in this league he is [Applause] fantastic oh that's now nine straight games against top 25 Big 10 teams with 20 points or more for booo Martinelli got to that left hand hook but he left it short different deal when you're going over the top of he you could tell that he he felt his presence there on that little hook here's Smith back it goes to Edy trap comes late Ed able to pass out of it and Gillis used the timing of Nicholson who got into the air late and the foul on Matthew Nicholson of Northwestern Timeout on the floor these here and there but look at their percentages I mean they're all shooting a ridiculously high percentage from the field well buoy and Barry combined for three are 11 of 16 tonight as Gillis gets one more free to go remember Purdue still has fouls to give as we come down the stretch in this game Northwestern well over the limit so double bonus two free throws the rest of the way for Purdue and two for two is Mason Gillis to tie this game at 73 langor he'll work it over to barnheiser with 12 to shoot it's back to langor seven to shoot buoy needs some help Nicholson out to provide the screen buoy over eating oh my goodness boo buoy raining it down from Deep that's an incredible shot Zack ediot 74 is right there but that the ball is in the hands of the guy that you want and booooy once again with a heck of a play left it short the foul comes on Nicholson and that's it for Matthew Nicholson let's go back to this booooy shot this is just silly at this point it really is this is late clock he comes up gets this ball screen Edy understands with that clock maybe he could have been a little bit more up but still with his length he gets a good contest those count and those are the shots that boooo he makes I mean in the previous shot we saw the paint crew behind the basket the look of Anguish and frustration from the crowd and you don't blame them I know I mean they've seen this before you know buoy 31 in the game in December had 26 in the win last year and he's got 25 tonight he he has just been a Purdue killer over the last three but now the Battle of attrition begins Nicholson's fouled out so now Northwestern down to two bigs hunger and Preston and Nicholson played that perfectly I mean he sat down while Ed was was shooting that and honestly the crowd he did it on purpose look at it miss it [Applause] too and Ed 0 for two you saw the free throw attempt disparity it's significant 30 attempts for Purdue tonight to two for North Western but they've only been able to take advantage to 16 points and only seven better in the second half crazy St right there Ed's five of 10 buoy hesitates lot of traffic around how did he even see Brooks barnheiser down there and you know what with him making that last shot now Edie is feeling that it's the in and- out he beats Edie off the bounce and then what a cut by barnheiser there on the backside I'm telling you Robbie we are some high level point guard play well he's just a maestro and that's in the back of the mind there's the In-N-Out barnheiser with a great cut but the pass is just [Applause] tremendous it's really impressive too I mean you every Northwestern player is ready to receive a pass from booo and buoy is so good at playing off two feet whether that's getting to his floater making a play for somebody else five-point game for Northwestern looking to s Weep the boiler makers Jones for three what what a pass there Bron Smith feeling that once again they're taking away the rooll so it's Lance Jones on the weak side Barry the answer not there Gillis the rebound twoo game how about Purdue switching up their coverage and hedging there with Bren Smith to keep Lance Jones on boooy there's buoy against Smith Ed out Smith will turn oldway nobody there he yes the bble flush to tie it at 78 time out Northwestern [Music] 90 seconds to go in a tie game just where you need to get on your social media account say get to Big 10 Network now barnheiser going to work bar inside short eating and as Purdue looks for the lead that just can't be the play that Chris poins Drew up in that huddle when you've got buoy again Ty brry can make plays off the bouts but that is not a great look there 69 seconds to go possession basketball games of the season the shot making and the the plays that have been made but by both teams in both games have just been a joy to watch here Smith we're going to slide under a minute to play dare I say in regulation Smith working against Barry bouncing to Ed hunger all over and count the bucket and the foul lead we talked about booy and how composed he is on two feet but bra Smith is equally good never panics could have let this fly but instead he he makes the right decision bounces that into Ed and what a decision Braden Smith now with 12 assists I I believe that's a career high it is his career high previous was 11 twice fifth time in double figures but a career-high 12 assists for Braden Smith what a time for it that was just a great decision by the sophore point guard and Ed now five of 12 at the line on the year 74% this has got to be zero time it's got to be bo buy who's got the ball in his hands to make this play he's matched up against one of the all defensive team members in the valley last year in Lance Jones here's Barry for three he is fouled Ty Barry is fouled and he's getting three free throws Chris Collins went to the old John debler play where you get that drive to the Baseline and then they're just pinning right back for Barry you can see Morton encountering that screen Well Done by hunger the contct there that's a major development and a great call by Chris Collins coming out of that free throw bradden Smith with the foul and Barry good on the first he's an 89% foul shooter 20 to tonight for Barry in his career this is the 41st game he scored in double figures Northwestern is 31- n in the previous 40 I mean he's been such an X Factor for them we talked about that in the first half when when he has played well Northwestern has won it's all three to give the cats the one-point lead we're looking at about a seven maybe 7 and 1/2 second difference between game and shot clock timeout is used by by Purdue each with one timeout remaining possession arrow favors the boiler makers and remember remember fouls to give for Purdue so if this is a Miss in a Northwestern rebound Purdue's got a foul to get to that situation where they get him to the line first things first Smith wanted e didn't get it lawyer with 11 on the shot clock lawyer will drive inside flips it to the rim that won't go Ed is there for the rebound and Ed is fouled and 's going to the line well Blake Preston did a nice job there of being in in a three quarter and not allowing that post entry feed but Fletcher lawyer putting pressure on the defense and that's the power of having the best offensive rebounder in the Big 10 any shot up there can be good offense her Purdue second foul on buoy and there's Ed clutch free throw number one one more for the lead Northwestern with a timeout Purdue with a timeout possession arrow favors the border the [Applause] [Applause] makers we Northwestern can work for the final shot of Regulation you know where this is going this is Boo Buy's time buoy fouled by Jones fouled to give as Jones tried to be aggressive tried to get the steal smart play had the foul to give and a timeout used by the Wildcats their final timeout haven't made a bucket in 2 and 1/2 minutes it won't matter if they make one in the next 6 seconds Barry will inbound buy into the back court off he goes with three seconds with two seconds the floater short e rebounds it he wanted a timeout we've hit zeros on the clock did he get the timeout before overtime arrived Matt payner wants him to look and see Penn State they've been in these all season long and you have to think that with booooy at the helm they feel good about where they're at right now now and Purdue will start with a basketball wants it to get to Edie oneon-one against Preston Edy forcing it up and HS the roll that's the risk you p with you run if you're Northwestern and you're going to go single coverage Ed's going to get to his left shoulder and that's his bread and butter on the bounce langor will dump it down and it rattles around off Preston's fingertips and through but the separation there that langor gets with Fletcher lawyers what put so much pressure on the big great pass from langboard got Preston there to finish the job significant foul trouble for northwester remember Nicholson fouled out before the end of regulation a minute gone in overtime Smith to e for two one Purdue puts you in such binds especially in pick and roll because you look at booooy he's going to be the weak side helpman as Edy rolls he's got to take on Edy gets him a little bit but he's scared about getting back out to Lance Jones and that allows that pass into Ed Preston's late and what a fine once again from Braden Smith and now Edy at the line continues his struggles Barry rips down the rebound six for 15 tonight for Zack Edy at the strike with the screen buoy Jones back to cover drops it off hunger needs some help finds it from barnheiser barnheiser pivots [Applause] fou that's why you drive the basketball right here a little bit of a Helter Skelter possession barnheiser jump stopping we'll see how much contact is there I think as he's going into that shooting motion that is the right call down there bar are a 75% shooter this is this will be the most fired up of the year right here I think free chicken if he misses the second straight shot alas no free chicken chickens Rejoice Across America as Bren Smith will walking up one point came over over time here's the lawyer shot clock under 10 back it goes to just why grab him there he just kind of gave up possession panicked and yanked on Ed hunger fouled out since 2014 I I want to see the basketball IQ of Purdue fans here at Mackey right now un he's they're going to sit down and they didn't do it that that was high level from Mackie Arena right there the pain crew is pointing at Hunger he tried to queue it like Nicholson did and they all stopped their count lesson learned 82 for two two big free throws in a three-point game now bar looking for the top he's got it Barry went down and has hurt his right leg he wanted an and one Chris Collins can't believe it that there wasn't an and one what what a game this is Barry's flying off the pin down Ethan Morton's behind the play and he does he kicks that out and gets contact with the leg of Morton and that's why he ends up spraining that ankle see if they go out and Barry goes down side to e a laser pass for Bron Smith Lan board for three and Smith the rebound quick shot for Northwestern this ball needs to go inside here goes Ed on the roll SP like he hasn't had his fast ball he still has 30 and 13 it's amazing isn't it yes his 630 point game and he's left so many at the line I I just truly hope that Purdue fans understand how great this dude is buoy PS it out to Bear huge possession for Northwestern he just put a ton of anglish on that and lost control man they got exactly what they want at a Charing screen by Ed that's loud in here but if you're Blake Preston the one thing you've got to do is let Ty Barry know that that screen is right there waiting on him Smith inside against pron six point pter Le no timeouts for the cats barnheiser against Gillis Edy lurking count the bucket and the foul what a response from Brooks barnheiser Northwestern had to have it Brooks barer kind of dribbling in here's the screen on Barry that is a brick wall and Preston you see how far back he is barnheiser going to work boy I don't know about that one Gillis was straight up and that's certainly a break for the Northwestern wild cats barnheiser one for two tonight gets the roll one possession game with 133 to go in OT yeah I me this has been some kind of count again unbelievable the last three have been instant Classics where else would you rather be it's an offensive foul underneath Gillis called for the foul and a turnover to Northwestern Zack e had Nick Martinelli and was going to have him Pinn got Mason Gillis just trying to to overwhelm Ty Barry right there and get him for the offensive foul and Northwestern with the chance now down three buoy probing driving scooping no good the verticality there though by Dillis really affected that shot by buoy at the basket under a minute to go in OT mat pay wants his timeout he's got one left offense here obviously for Northwestern without the timeouts they've got to get their offensive lineup on the floor lawyer will inbound in it comes to Braden Smith KN clock at 15 here's Gillis in the corner Smith off the shot fake open lawyer for [Applause] three 63 ruers early that's on the Fox Sports app if you are so inclined to tear yourself away from an overtime game inbound to buoy here we go Buie finds Martinelli rolling to the rim for two and now northwester to quickly pressure and then [Applause] foul and Martinelli commits the foul Lance Jones 74% at the line will head to the line for a pair fourth foul on Martinelli five of seven tonight as Jones at the [Applause] line one more for Lance Jones he was the National Guard of the week for Fox this week and made some big big plays in that ruter game over the week weend he's made some huge plays tonight and the little stumble out of the shoe they're four on five right now barer lost his shoe on the inbound the th to mark for two four on five they scored two reverse power play there for Northwestern didn't even pull their goalie and a foul on langborg so Jones will go back to the line barer blew a tire on the inbound they go down the floor and somehow Martinelli wide open and baris's had problems with the Footwear all night long couple of slips lost a shoe and I feel like I've seen him come out of his shoes a couple times over the last four or five games you know this doesn't feel like a new thing the slipping yes but I have seen him get flat tired where someone stepped on the back and he's been shoess and Jones misses the first fourpoint game 19.8 to go free throw shooting has been a problem tonight for Purdue one for two is Jones 5point game inbound to BU off Weston I'm thinking three right here barnheiser working inside against Gill he take the two it's a three-point game inbound coming and almost a steal oh my goodness that almost got taken away by Buie Northwestern wants to review it wisely and this is a danger you've seen Lance Jones miss one got to make sure you meet your pass here Jordan Clayton on the floor for Northwestern he has early yeah they went way early and now into the inbound and Jones has fouled almost lost his footing and went out of bounds instead the foul on Nick Martinelli and that'll be his foul on Nick Martinelli and that has fouled him out back we go to the other end and Jones who was one for two his last trip will shoot two here wow Purdue to the century [Applause] mark two for two for Jones Buie the three rolls off no good rebound Gillis Chris Collins is out but he's been tossed out of the game by Courtney green and this game is over and it ends with Chris Collins getting ejected so four free throws coming in a fivepoint game after the technical and the ejection and again it's academic Purdue is going to win this game once the buoy shot missed that was that was that was it what a game and the the point spread of this is not going to show no just how close this was and obviously in an overtime game you understand into regulation how good it is but what a what a series this has been I mean both teams played so hard Northwestern once again their guards fantastic but puru Bren Smith with the assists Lance Jones making big plays and Zack Edy just he's overwhelming with his size and skill what a way to end January Purdue 105 Northwestern 96 sign me up for round three in March
