nightlife and so much more with so many activities to do that you'll never feel like staying in the same place let's get right into it starting with a little bit about Vallarta's weather Puerto Vallarta is located on the beautiful coast of the state of Jalisco by the region Costa Sierra Occidental which makes it a tropical area surrounded by jungle lagoons and mangroves Puerto Vallarta is located on eBay which assures that the weather is consistent and nice all year round even in the summer when it gets pretty humid you'll get rainy days and freshness from all the trees that surround it in Puerto Vallarta is a town that has plenty of History it was actually founded in 1850 by Don Guadalupe Sanchez Torres and it was originally called Las penas it was almost deserted with time the population grew a little after the introduction of banana plantations but still was a little fishing Town hidden from the world this all changed a century later when Vallarta came to popularity in the 1960s after it served as the location of the film La Noche de liguana starring Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton which showed all the amazing views that this beautiful Hidden Beach had and shortly after you can probably expect that the city would have a boom and see a lot of changes the infrastructure began to grow and it hasn't stopped ever since now let's talk about what you can expect living in Puerto Vallarta you'll find that this community is very expat friendly and welcoming and that's because Puerto Vallarta has a lot of foreigners living here almost every local is bilingual and you won't have communication issues when it comes to running errands or socializing or making friends Puerto Vallarta actually is one of the most inclusive places in Mexico when it comes to skin sexual orientation background nationality status and all of the above you'll be welcomed with all the Mexican style that stands out from the rest of the world one of the most magical things that happens when you decide to move here is that you'll not only feel welcome but also like you belong this expat Community here is very active you won't have any trouble making friends there's lots of get-togethers meetups hosted in different days of the week and that's all for newcomers to be able to get to meet one another from brunch to dinner parties dancing or painting language exchange to even parachuting or sailing you'll soon find find that there's a lot of kind and warm people all around you ready to make you feel home now living in Puerto Vallarta is not going to be all vacation and fun so you'll also need to know what it's like to live here like a true local what it's like to rent a place get around places to have fun do your regular shopping and everything you do on a regular basis so we'll try to give you as many details and recommendations as possible to make sure that you're moved to Puerto Vallarta is as easy as possible soon you'll discover that Puerto Vallarta has rentals in all kinds of budgets I mean you'll find everything from condos beach houses Town Homes to everything in between and there's places in all types of amenities and budgets now the closer you are to the beach you can expect the price for that rental to be higher the further you are from a Beach area then you can expect the rental to be more affordable these are some of the most popular neighborhoods that a lot of expats live in you'll find that these communities are vibrant and full of life and color so let's start by finding a place here it's not uncommon to find one bedroom apartment starting at 18 000 pesos a month that's about 900 US Dollars it is very common for them to come completely furnished so you won't have to worry about Furnishing your place at all now if you went two or three neighborhoods further away from these like for example the Cinco de siembre area it's not uncommon to find rentals here starting at 10 000 pesos a month for a one bedroom apartment now there are plenty of Studios up to two bedrooms with a bathroom each and buildings with amazing views and even by the beach that start at 25 000 pesos a month or around 1250 US dollars a month the amenities of these places always include a pool for common use some others even have Spas Golf Course access to the beach and the price depends on the size of the apartment of course and it can come up to even more than 60 000 pesos a month or about 3 000 US dollars a month if you're looking for a large apartment with two or three or more bedrooms now you have to consider that Puerto Vallarta is a very popular destination and because of its location and amenities it's really considered affordable to live in considering all these things even utilities are not that expensive you won't pay more than 100 US dollars on electricity assuming that you run your air conditioner pretty often now you should ask before you run a house whether this is included in the total cost of your rent and of course if you're ready to make Puerto Vallarta your permanent home you can always rely on the large community of Architects Builders and designers that make the place your dream home I mean you can have basically any house that you want even if it's only remodeling or even if you're looking to start from reconstruction now we covered a few neighborhoods but there are some others that we recommend checking on like fluvial Vallarta marseilla Marina and Conchas Chinas where you'll find Luxurious homes and condos to live in the Prices range more or less as the neighborhood that we mentioned before it all depends on the type of house that you're looking for and the quality of the amenities seeks condos or communities offer if you're serious about Puerto Vallarta we recommend you take a relocation tour the city for at least a few days and see how you feel about it a local will take you around Puerto Vallarta show you some of the top neighborhoods that they recommend based on your lifestyle answer your questions about what it's like to actually live in Puerto Vallarta and there's no agenda to sell you any real estate the link for that is in the comments now real quick I'm going to interrupt this video because I know that researching and moving to Mexico is not a very easy project and you may be wondering if living in Mexico is even right for you that's why I want you to check out our free living in Mexico email series which includes some of my top tips on things like the cost of living I don't know if you qualify for residency finding the best rentals Healthcare in Mexico popular cities to live in and even some of the negatives of living in Mexico that way you get started with research with some great information the link is in the comments section of this video okay let's get back to the video now let's get into where you can find your day-to-day stuff in Puerto Vallarta any neighborhood that you find yourself living in will have probably everything you need from local producers like hardware stores to fruterias which are places where you can get your fruits and vegetables which are places where you can get your cheese sour creams and butcher shops these are the basics of any Mexican neighborhood or condonia also there are plenty of mercados downtown where you'll find fresh fish meat poultry as well as dairy products and even flowers and houseplants and of course if you can find something you can always rely on the big box supermarkets although we do encourage you to buy from local markets for better quality products and ingredients and because you make a very direct impact on that local producer even if it looks like Puerto Vallarta it's a small town from the outside you can be sure that it has everything that you could possibly imagine you'll have really nice shopping malls to go get your clothing Personal Care items art and any Home Goods as well as numerous small boutiques showrooms and local furniture stores Puerto Vallarta is not your typical small Beach town because of the rapid growth in population and the Perpetual flow of tourists all year round it's had to adapt to accommodate all the needs of a big city so it's fair to say that you won't have any trouble finding the things you need here now let's cover one of the most important things that you'll have to consider when moving to Mexico and that's Healthcare the medical attention in Puerto Vallarta is one of the highest levels and you'll never have trouble finding English-speaking medical professionals again because there's a lot of foreigners who live in Puerto Vallarta you can also rely on the Public Health Care system as it does have really good top quality facilities and it is free as long as you're a resident as well as private specialty medical centers clinicals which are small clinics consultorias which are small private practices hospitals and everything in between now one mention about the free healthcare system in Mexico in Sabi it is free and there are pretty good facilities in Puerto Vallarta this isn't the case throughout Mexico and one thing that you have to consider about the free health care in Mexico is that it's meant for people who are really impoverished so just consider that if you take free health care in Mexico from in Savvy you may be denying somebody else Health Care in that population or in that area to consider but if that's your only option it is a viable option you do have to be a resident now Private health care is mostly inexpensive but we do encourage you to find health insurance that best suits your needs there are several medical centers in the visayas areas from hospitals to private practitioners and we can also recommend Hospital in Puerto Vallarta a big National hospital with branches all over Mexico that has a really good reputation Puerto Vallarta really takes care of the well-being of its inhabitants so you won't have any trouble finding the right place to find Healing whether that's physical or emotional now when it comes to getting around the city you'll have a lot of different options there's public transportation which is a very common way of getting around here although it can get pretty busy during office hours we do encourage you to go up and get around by bike or you can walk almost everywhere just don't forget your sunscreen Puerto Vallarta is a very safe City it's clean well taken care of so you can be sure that you'll feel safe going around the city by any means of transportation that you choose you can always rely on private transportation too like uber DD or in driver for almost less than 10 US Dollars you can move across town and if you feel like having air conditioning for your whole trip then this is really the best bet now there are also taxis but as this is the Tourist place the prices could go up from anywhere 30 or more a trip depending on how far you're traveling now Puerto Vallarta is a small city with a big heart that can be toured in a single day so don't worry whether you're walking taking public transport or private transportation moving around is not hard at all now for those night owls Puerto Vallarta has a very active nightlife you can go clubbing or just enjoy some drinks by the sea with friends the city has award-winning restaurants you can try from the best street tacos you've ever tasted to some of the most exclusive gourmet food you can imagine you can also go to one of the several movie theaters or watch live music and some of the many bars and clubs as well as on the street every weekend there's live music on the malecon going from Jazz to salsa if you feel like dancing or even classic rock hits Puerto Vallarta is really close to Sayulita and San Pancho these two are about an hour away from Puerto Vallarta's downtown and they also have many restaurants European coffee shops bars and clubs that are worth the visit you'll have plenty of breathtaking natural areas and Views around you with the best beaches and a lot of amenities it's ensured that you'll have a really good day trip foreign now as you can probably imagine and one of the reasons you may be considering Puerto Vallarta are the beaches but there's more to it than just condos and hotel beach clubs for example right in the heart of the city you have Playa los Muertos which is probably one of the most iconic places in Vallarta it's located in Sona Romantica which is a romantic Zone you can enjoy this beautiful beach right beside the malecon where there are plenty of restaurants art galleries fashion designer Studios and you can be sure that this spot will be full of life and things to do at any time any day of the week you can walk or enjoy the seashore to just recover and heal yourself to having drinks with friends a romantic dinner by the Moonlight to going shopping for Unique pieces of clothing or just to admire some of bustamante's most iconic sculptures foreign there's a quieter Beach where you can simply sit down and relax it's called Playa camarones which is right in front of the main Church of the city this place offers a much more peaceful Vibe and has many beautiful swimming places and a little bit further from the last Beach there's a beach Paradise called Conchas Chinas now this beach offers the softest sand in all of Puerto Vallarta as well as really awesome Cliff views that look like out of a movie wait it is actually in a movie now conscious Chinas is considerably less crowded than any other beach before it so you can be sure that you'll have a nice view with all its natural beauty and we encourage you to explore more Beach areas nearby like Punta de Mita and Las Animas you can easily get there by car or even by scooter and it's less than an hour from downtown you'll feel like you have a private beach all to yourself and if you're into art a must or bustamante's art galleries as well as Galleria Uno Galleria Pacifico de larte and Corsica and there's so much more to discover in Puerto Vallarta then you're able to see on this video because this is only a small glimpse of what living in Vallarta is like but for now I hope this video has given you a really nice perspective of what it's like to actually live here I hope you enjoyed exploring it with me as much as I've enjoyed making it for you will be expecting you with an open heart it has great food amazing
