PRS Wood Library Santana Retro's with Brazilian Rosewood & Korina Music Zoo Exclusives!

[Music] hello everyone Carol here at the music zoo and today I want to talk to you about a smooth new run of guitars from the wood library at PRS on an exclusive Santana retro model for us so the Santana retro is one of my favorite current production models from PRS and the reason that I like it so much is because it is the classic iconic pre-factory PRS shape the first guitar is that Paul Smith were building were in this shape he was selling them to not only Carlos Santana at that time but also folks like Al Di Meola Ted Nugent Howard lease and a number of other really prominent players at the time this shape predates the Custom 24 and custom 22 As We Know It And even the silver sky sorry Uncle John but I really like that guitar because it has a really nice lower bout a nice shape that sort of comes into a narrow waist figured maple on the top this custom inlay on it as well the larger sort of pre-factory heel that comes away from the body a little more and all that kind of good stuff in addition to that it also has the bird inlay on the headstock as opposed to Paul Smith's signature which came in later on in the 80s so for those of you that don't know the wood library is a special program that PRS does where their dealers can hand select different woods and materials and certain select specs on different models to do sort of custom limited runs so we've done two different versions of the Santana retro which I'm going to talk about shortly but the wood library is a really cool opportunity to get unique specs highly figured hand selected and exotic Woods without going into the Private Stock which is a significant increase in price from these core model guitars so before we dive into these wood Library models I want to touch on the current core production Santana retro model currently what they have is his special design pickups that they do for him he doesn't need any kind of you know coil tapping or switching it's real Straight Ahead three-way switch master volume Master tone which I really like you have the Gen 3 PRS tremolo the back plate is sort of like a half plate so you have that brass block that PRS does exposed as well a bound neck on the guitar with the iconic bird inlays up to again that sort of like Private Stock and pre-factory style headstock logo and the custom truss rod cover that Mr Santana has for his model so you may be asking what's so wood Library about these guitars that I'm holding here and we have two iterations of these instruments I have a couple of examples handy here today that I'm going to use to show you but we have a few more coming in that you should be seeing on our website shortly so the first version is a quilted Maple 10 top on the Santana retro model and that is an upgrade from the standard flame top that you see on the core model the other change which you'll see on the next guitar that I'm about to handle shortly in a little bit clearer of a sense is that these are Karina for the back and the neck so this one is that beautiful blue stain over that quilt top with this beautiful blue stain for that Carina it looks really sharp on this guitar I'm sure this one will go fast so here we have the sister to that guitar with a Bonnie pink over that 10 top quilt Maple which really looks fabulous it's got that pre-factory carve which is like a nice deep dish around the edge and on this one it has a natural back and neck so you can see that Karina clearly you know all along the back up the neck this is what is becoming increasingly rare you're only seeing it on wood Library runs and things from the different custom shops so it's one of our favorites here at the music Zoo definitely check it out if you're not familiar so the second iteration of this guitar that we have coming from the wood Library currently is a little bit closer to the core model with a couple of key tweaks you have a flame Maple 10 top on this guitar you also have a mahogany for the back which is closer to the core model but a really key change that I am a big fan of would be solid East Indian Rosewood for the neck which has almost no finish on it it may be a hand applied either oil or urethane on there again you have that big heel and a couple of the features that are shared between these two guitars that are custom are Brazilian rosewood fingerboards on both which is matched with the headstock overlay as well and each of them have the J Birds which have a gold mother of pearl outline with a standard mother of pearl core on them which I think really has those birds popping off that fretboard so make sure that you head to our website themusiczu.com to check out these guitars and many other PRS instruments that we have in stock make sure that you subscribe to our YouTube channel as well to see more videos like this and don't forget to check out our socials at the music Zoo [Music] [Applause] [Music] thank you [Music] [Applause] [Music] thank you [Music] [Applause] [Music] foreign
