Welcome to Project Relate. Project Relate is an Android app designed to help anyone with nonstandard speech communicate. It's driven by AI and learns from your own speech patterns. To get started, you'll record 500 phrases in one sitting or across multiple sessions. Everything is saved automatically. Once you've reached 500 phrases, we'll use your recordings to create a personalized speech recognition model. You can speak to view a live transcript in Listen mode, have your speech translated into a computerized voice in Repeat, or engage Google Assistant. Tips for getting started. Here are some tips for good quality recordings. Record in a quiet place. Avoid background noise like televisions and make sure no one else is speaking. Place your phone 6 to 8 inches from your mouth with the bottom of the phone pointed towards you, and be sure not to cover the microphone. It is essential that you say every word on the card exactly as they are written. If you make a mistake, please rerecord the phrase. Most importantly, be yourself. Relate should hear the everyday you to better understand how you talk, so don't make a special effort to make your speech more clear. Ready to record? When you open the app, you'll be asked to read aloud a series of cards while the app records you. The speaker button will read the prompt. Tap or hold the record button to start recording. Say the words on the card. Tap or release the record button to stop recording. Before going to the next card, listen to your recording. You can skip cards by swiping to the next card or by tapping next card. You can also go back to the previous card at any time and listen to your recording. Press the play button to hear your recording. Rerecord as many times as you like. Custom cards. You can also create custom cards for words and phrases that are important to you. Recording custom cards helps the Relate app to better understand the words you actually use. You can add as many cards as you like and they will all count towards your initial 500 recordings. To create a custom card tap create custom card, type your custom prompt, then tap save. After saving a custom card, it will be added to your list of cards in record mode. You can then record the card as normal. By recording custom cards, you're training the app to understand how you say these specific words. Then once you have your model, you can simply speak these words while you're using the app’s Listen, Repeat or Assistant features later. Using Project Relate. After recording your cards, it will take up to a few days for Project Relate to start working for you. We will notify you via a pop up message when your model has been created and the app is ready for you. Each model has a recognition score of low, medium, or high, reflecting an estimate for helpfulness. Not all models have the same level of helpfulness, and additional recordings can potentially help improve a personalized model. You can record more phrases at any time by simply tapping the record button at the bottom of the app. With Listen, you can use your voice to write docs or text messages. Listen can also be used to directly input text into any app using your voice with the Relate Keyboard. Please see the help section of our website for instructions on how to enable the Relate Keyboard. With Repeat, you can restate what you said using a clear computerized voice for greater ease in face to face conversation. And with Assistant, you can speak directly to your Google Assistant to take care of tasks like setting a timer, playing a song, or asking for directions.
