Please note that this website is currently a work in progress! Lots of interesting data and statistics to come.
I stumbled upon this amazing lecture on linear induction motors while reading about magnetic levitation and was surprised I hadn't seen it before on Reddit. Apologies if this is a repost, I tried searching before posting and didn't see it.
Edit: here's another great one by him https://youtu.be/0tJfqMYHaQw
That was glorious! I rode on the world's first commercial maglev before decommissioning at Birmingham airport, all based on the research these guys were up to. Awesome.
I was also waiting for the professor to light a cigarette whilst demonstrating the maglev.
I love these types of presentations more than something like Mythbusters.
great stuff
I don't understand how aluminum is influenced by the magnetic field. I expect it to interact the same as wood or cardboard.
Been reading an Alan Turing bio that goes into the Bletchley Park work. I think this video might be the closest I will ever get to see the kind of culture that was going on there when they built Colusus and all the other bits! Brilliant video, thanks for posting!!
Jeeze it's hot in my room. I think I'll switch on my air-screw.
