hi everyone I'm Rachel Tessman from stamp your are.com and I'm here to bring you another live paper crafting class I am very excited today I am sharing with you that beautiful peony garden suite we just released a new tutorial my all-stars group released a tutorial today and and when you see this video on YouTube or recorded later today would be July 1st 2020 so happy to lie everyone so I wanted to kind of introduce you to that tutorial and give you kind of an idea of what you can expect some really fun exciting projects are on that tutorial and now our group is doing videos to go along with each tutorial so when you purchase the tutorial you earn the tutorial you get a little video link to each one of those 12 projects created by the 12 demonstrators in our group so anyways welcome welcome I'm so excited because this card is a fun one it's one that you may have seen before it's called a center step card and I just did one recently in another video with my paper pumpkin projects project supplies and did that with the kit called box of sunshine got a lot of great positive feedback from it so I thought I would do the other version which is the landscape version so I did a tall one or vertical and now I'm going to show you the horizontal or landscape version today so if you are live with me say hello I would love to see who's with me today and I'm just pulling up my comments now I am also going to have a change here so normally I broadcast live on Facebook and then I download the video and re-upload it to YouTube which takes some time and so for me to get my video out to everyone which YouTube but it pretty much gets it to everybody it takes a while and so I am transitioning I'm going to be doing my lives on YouTube now and then just sharing the link of that recorded live to Facebook so those of you who love to be on Facebook to see it you won't see it live if you stay here but I will share the link with you before I go lives that you can come on over and log into your YouTube account and join me live there so I'm so excited I'm nervous about this cuz there's you know there's differences between both of the live formats but I think it'll be an exciting change and I'm glad that a lot of you gave me some positive feedback on that so hi everyone I love the names popping up saying hello from different places around the US and the world so much fun to see everyone's comments and names so let's get going okay so let me share with you the supplies I'll pull those up real quick I did have a comment from a friend who said that my video of my my head is sometimes in the way of me showing what I'm showing so I don't know if I need to make it smaller I don't want to move it to a different corner because I think I'm I think that's gonna screw me up I'm so used to having it in the lower right hand corner so yes so let me know if I need to make it smaller or if you think it's okay I don't always go back and watch every single bit of my videos I just trust that they're okay alright so on the screen you can see the supplies and if you want to you can take a screenshot of that otherwise I'm going to have this on my blog tomorrow I'm going to hurry up really fast and post this recording and the supply list and the measurements and the photos of the projects on my blog by tomorrow because that's when my group from the all-stars we're gonna be doing a blog hop so you'll be able to see lots of different inspiring projects with the peony gardens sweet so I'm gonna use the prized peony stamp set which is in that suite I'll be using the embossing folder which is to die for it's one of the best embossing folders I've seen for awhile I just love it that's very detailed it's called dainty diamonds you can see the measurements are over here and for then it the eight and a half by eight and a half by five and a half night of a navy card stock I didn't put the scoring directions in there because it would be too hard to explain in words so you need to actually watch the video at least the first part in order to get the full or the score marks and cut marks of where to mark that cardstock okay and I love it Suzanne just said I'm looking forward to being able to watching on my TV that I heard was a benefit to to going live on YouTube was that you can actually pay attention to the live while it's on a big screen which makes me laugh because I don't know it just I don't know I'm I'm I'm modest is that the word okay so here we go what else granny apple green whisper white I don't really need to say much about those pieces over here Oh a couple embellishments that go with this sweet are also quite stunning the elegant faceted gems and the square vellum doilies the square Vallum Dooley's in the catalog it doesn't do them justice you really have to see you have to see them in person or at least on this video let me show them to you right now since I have them in my hands so I don't think that photography and the catalog really showed off what they really are look at these they're delicate they're vellum they're see-through there's so much fun so okay so that's the other embellishment so let's go ahead and pull in the paper trimmer and the cardstock that we're going to use and shift my workspace over here so you can see me this is the stamp set called prized peony and I forgot I have not been putting up my little overlay so you can see where to find me I am at stamp er dot-com I'm very nervous today I've had a very very busy weekend I was preparing for a class a paper pumpkin Palooza class and so I'm a little bit behind I'm trying to catch up so my brain isn't quite there anyways that's where you can find me in in the future if you do not know my website this is the vertical the center step card that I did with the box of sunshine paper pumpkin kit and you can see it's got some intricate little folds to it if you've never seen a fold like this you're gonna learn how to do it today and I'm gonna actually teach you some techniques so you can apply this idea to pretty much any size card okay well not any size card but if you're using say a four card stock in Europe or something you can you can adjust the measurements based on some tips I'm going to give you okay alright so here we go let's grab our trimmer we're gonna cut our card stock if we're going to do a landscape one which is gonna go this way instead of tall okay this is portrait or vertical and this is this is the direction if we're gonna go landscape if it's going this way so if you're going to do that you're going to cut your cardstock in half this direction so we have an eight-and-a-half by eleven piece of cardstock we're cutting it in half at five and a half inches so this will create as most of you know a landscape type of card if we were to cut it the other direction you can see here that would be an eleven inch so it'd be cut in half the other direction okay does that make sense alright so let's grab one of those sheets so normally you would score your cardstock in half and I'm gonna zoom in a bit here you'd score it in half at four and a quarter because half of eight and a half is four and a quarter but we can't do that all the way across because if we do as you can see here like this is the halfway mark for the vertical one we would mess up this area here so we're not going to put the score mark through the middle all the way across okay so let's start by let's start at the bottom we're gonna start this is the player this is the bottom of the card we're going to score in at one inch so I'm using this side of the the trimmer in order measure you can see the one-inch mark here we're gonna go right up to it and we're gonna score in one inch in word and one inch in word into that into that into that area okay so this is the one-inch area and we're going to go we're going to go one inch in and one inch in so you're going to use the arm of your trimmer now and if I put some white paper underneath here hang on wait piece of cardstock here if I put this down here so you can read the numbers you can see that we're gonna go into the cardstock one inch and into the cardstock one inch so that would bring it to the one inch mark up here and the four and a half inch mark down here okay so make sure that we're still lined up there one inch we're gonna score inward and it doesn't have to be exact okay so if you are scoring and you go a little bit beyond or not too far in it's okay just try to get in there about that far and here why don't I hold it up so you can see so you can see I didn't make them totally even but they're about 1 inch in okay now we're gonna move it to the 2 inch mark and we're gonna score and about 1 inch and in about 1 inch okay now we're gonna go to the halfway mark the halfway mark is 4 in it and uh orna quarter on this cardstock if we're doing the other direction the halfway mark would be 5 and a half so the halfway mark you're going to skip the 1 inch in you're gonna start in the middle about 1 inch in and move to the other side about 1 inch before you get to the end okay so now we're scoring from here to here instead of outward we're gonna go in between and then the last one is 1 inch further so if you were using the longer cardstock like this I would go to what's beyond 5 and a half it's 6 and a half so on that one it was 6 and a half on this one four and a quarter plus another inch is five and a quarter okay so that would be the fourth section you go to so one inch two inch middle and then an inch beyond the middle now you can apply it to any size cardstock you have so we're gonna go in an inch lift it up and go in an inch on that side so the score marks that you see here are can you see that let me hold it up a little bit differently there we go so you can see here kinda maybe sorta I can't get the angle right in the camera well I went one inch in one inch in one inch in on each side and then I did through the middle at the halfway point but not beyond okay all right so now I hope that makes sense I spent too much time on that we are going to we're gonna cut now we're gonna put some slices we're gonna put a slice here and a slice here and the place that you go from and two would be the one inch mark to the last score line so the one inch mark to the last score line and if you're using the arm of your trimmer see why I can't explain this in words on paper you have to do a video in this one so if we were looking at our score marks on or our marks on our arm of our trimmer we'd be going from and I'm lifting this up just slightly here we'd be going from this one inch to the five and a quarter inch mark because that's where our last score line was five and a quarter so push down and slice then to make it easy flip it over this way and do the same cut one inch to five and a quarter all right all my other pieces are cut I hope you can take that idea and apply it to any other size whether it's a four whether it's vertical whether it's I don't know some other odd size that you might have a different envelope for these are the other pieces that you'll need and I've already embossed because I'm not going to bring in the machine today but I have taken the dainty diamonds embossing folder oops there we go and you can see either through this this pattern here or through the design that comes with the sheet that you get when you purchase it you can see that design and look at it's just gorgeous it's so pretty so this is done on the silver foil and then I've got my granny apple green cardstock pieces that are going to layer under my whisper white like this one of them is gonna go on the inside of the card and the other one on the outside and then I've got my scrap of granny apple green and we're gonna go ahead and stamp next so let's take out our stamp set the two stamps that I'm using are the large peony and then this one here called my thoughts or the one that says my thoughts are with you we're stamping with tuxedo black memento ink and I'm gonna grab my grid paper we're gonna stamp on these two pieces here so let's start with the large peeny because this is such a large image I'm gonna turn my ink pad upside down on top of it and ink it up because then I can see I can make sure that the whole entire thing and now I'm bouncing my table right but the whole entire thing is getting inked up so alright trying to catch some comments here alright so here we go we're gonna line that up stamp it down and press evenly so right that's right Patricia just asked when do I start on YouTube I'm starting on July 8th which is next Wednesday my lives will remain at the same time so still 11 a.m. Central time but I'll be going live on YouTube and I have someone called a moderator that's going to help me out my friend Trisha Joseph's she is going to be stepping in and she's gonna be helping by looking at the comments and replying to questions because I am so bad at that you guys alright so there we have our image nice job Rachel thank you all right now we're going to stamp our sentiment so my thoughts are with you this could be for different kinds of reasons I mean you could you could send this out this would definitely be like a sympathy card but you could also send it to someone for a birthday I mean your thoughts could be with somebody just because you are thinking about them on their birthday so I love I love this message we're gonna punch that out using your punch upside down so you can Center it punch that out with the one and a half inch circle punch and now we can set these items aside we're gonna bring in our blends markers love blends they are the best and that's why I have the grid paper because I want to protect my table surface so so we're gonna take our flower that we just stamped and we're gonna color it in with these wonderful alcohol-based markers they do gorgeous things I can't even tell you yesterday I was what was they doing I was taking and coloring some of that metallic edge ribbon and I colored it in two different colors and it had that alcohol wash look that you can get with alcohol inks which Stampin Up does not carry right now we carry the markers but we don't have the special inks that you can drip on to glossy cardstock and do all this elaborate cool stuff with but and if you've got the the box of sunshine paper pump and kit you'll know what I'm talking about because that alcohol ink look is in the elements like the card bases and stuff like that this is an alcohol wash look so you kind of can get that with the markers on that ribbon it's incredible two different colors and they combine together and they blend oh it's just beautiful so give that a try okay so we're gonna take and start with our light markers so I've got the balmy blue combo pack and I've got the granny granny apple green combo pack I've also got one of the old olives old olive markers now they come in combo packs now they don't come singly anymore so if you need to get one of the markers you're gonna get the combo pack but the one I'm using is the dark for the old olive we're gonna start with the light I like to go from light medium dark medium light so I like to go from light to dark and then back again the lightest one helps to blend in the end so we're gonna start with the leaves and we're just gonna go over the whole thing I don't want any white left on these leaves so I'm gonna color the whole surface of the leaves and the stems when you're coloring I love to use the brush tip this is the brush tip that I'm using there's a bullet tip as well and I hold it on its side when I color with the brush tip because then I I'm not damaging the tip of the marker you can actually damage it if you point it straight down and color it and you want to also store your blends sideways it will help keep the ink even on both ends they are in kind of a rectangular barrel so it helps so that they don't roll around on your table and it helps to store them sideways too so make sure that you're storing them sideways the bullet tip looks like I'll show you in just a second here and you want to cap your markers fully you want to hear the snap the bullet tip looks like this so you can get into more detail that way you can do smaller areas also when you're pulling off and on your marker caps you want to make sure that you are using your hands so that they pull off straight if you pull them off kind of at an angle you can damage the tip of your markers okay so now that I've done that I want to go into my next color which is my dark granny apple green and this image really helps because I know where to add my darker shades of color the the image itself has shading on it so I can just follow those areas and make sure that that's where I put my deeper color my darker color sometimes it's just natural to realize where some of that deeper color is you know it comes from the shadowy areas like this leaf here you know it's underneath the flower so you know you need to that a little bit darker there that sort of thing so I've added my darker color and I'm just putting some darkness in here to for fun I'm avoiding this area did you notice that and that's okay I'm gonna zoom in just a little bit here I'm avoiding that area because it's gonna get covered up anyways so why put work into it okay and then I'm gonna come in with my bullet tip for my old olive and I'm just gonna really deepen in some of the grooves here the grooves of the leave the leaves so these colors aren't exactly the same but that's okay because you know what they will still blend together where the colors meet with each other once you do the blending with the lightest marker you're gonna get that effect that the two tones come in to each other you know sometimes combined and make a whole different colors here right in the center so now we're gonna swirl around this is the medium one we're gonna swirl around using the lightest one normally I would go to the medium color next but I don't have a large space here so it's quite alright if I don't do that so I am now blending and with that color and you can see the difference between that leaf that I just did and the one right next to it where you can see the definite difference between the light and the dark there so I'm gonna come in and just blend in that spot and then show that to you as well I think I'm gonna blend a little bit more in here so there now it's a little bit more blended looking it's a softer look right softer combo so these kinds of markers do not they you know how regular markers they give you that streak look blends markers make everything look so smooth the transition between colors is amazing I am in love with blends okay so now that we have that done I'm gonna start the blue flower but I already have a finished one so again with the blue flower now we're just using two colors and for this one I actually want to leave some white portions I'm coloring over the surface of my flower but I'm leaving the ends of the petals just a little bit white here and there now not all of them but but many of them I'm leaving white areas okay so I'm just gonna do a portion of the flower come back here and we're gonna go in with the dark in the shadowy areas and if you want to you could even add like the night of Navy blends in here and you would get an even deeper darker shadowy area I'm not doing a nice job coloring now I'm trying to go fast but hopefully you have the idea and then you would come back with I did a nice job on the stem and leaves didn't I but now you come back with the white marker and you do that blending of the two colors and we probably would have seen it better had I done maybe petals in the middle here but that's okay all right so hopefully you got the idea we're gonna bring in the finished one which I have somewhere there it is okay so here is my finished one and you can see that I left some portions of the petals white on purpose we're gonna take all of these items that I have left that I have not used yet and pull them in okay so let's start assembling the card all right so to fold your card base oops we're gonna zoom out that's a way too close to fold your card base you're gonna start with this is the front where most of the score lines are this is the front you're gonna start with the back away from you and that's the first score line you're going to fold okay as if you're folding the card in half but you're not right because you're you're not at the halfway point but you're folding there and then you're gonna come to the middle and fold in the same direction so now you've got your halfway point folded then down here at the very bottom is where you're gonna fold in that same direction again so all three of those sections get folded away from you the only one that gets folded towards you is this one right here okay and then just flatten it down use your bone folder and give everything a good crisp fold and now we can decorate we're gonna cut this in half I should have grabbed my paper snips I don't have paper snips on the list but you could totally use a paper snips to cut this in half greenies one doily for two spots on the card so let's go ahead and layer you can use stamp oh did you see this too this is why you want to have a grid paper underneath your paper when you're counting with alcohol-based markers because the marker seeps through so thank you for your comments people are still commenting I love this it's helping you get in for the prize drawing by the way I'm not sure how I'm going to do prizes when I go to youtube live cuz it's a whole different system I'm not sure how I can do a random named Ryan I might have to do a totally different setup but for now with this being on Facebook yes continue to comment during the live we're gonna add seal adhesive sealant he Civ is a new adhesive I'm learning the tricks of how to use it it's it tends to be a little bit more sensitive than the last adhesive the snail that we had so I I am just gonna continue to practice with it and hopefully I'll have some tips for you in case you're having some hang-ups with it like I've been experiencing some demonstrators are having no problems at all so hopefully you don't either but we've layered this onto a very tiny layer of green you can barely see that little outline there right okay next we're going to layer this on to see now it's working just great this is awesome we're gonna layer this onto the front of our card and I'm putting adhesive down here at the bottom because I want it to attach to that portion of the doily Oh see that now it's gonna do it for me there we go alright so we're gonna put this on the front of the card so it is centered evenly around these three borders let me zoom in a bit here there we go I hear also I don't know if you guys can tell but when I do videos on YouTube live versus doing them on Facebook I get a clearer picture so I'm hoping that we will have clearer videos too okay so I didn't put it all the way to the bottom here because this is where we're gonna tuck in our vellum so you want to lay it down here so it's looking even to you and then you slowly lower this down onto your I want to make it even sorry there we go ah not as even as I wanted it hang on that's pretty good alright so you want to make that even and then it looks like we have to come back because that vellum took up some some of the adhesiveness okay so there we've attached it to our vellum and to the front of our card we're not gonna put any card stock here now it's not on some center step cards it's fun to put a strip across the bottom and have this piece up a little bit higher but you seriously can do anything to these panels these panels here if we open up the card flat this is where we're going to put our embossed silver foil these pieces fit right in here with about an eighth of an inch all the way around and they are really gonna look stunning oops that's that's the nice thing about this seal to is it is super strong so once it's down it's down well actually that's a seal plus you do have a little bit of give on the regular seal seal plus is awesome - I love it been using that one more just because I'm not having issues with it dispensing okay I don't know why I'm having issues with this somebody help me okay alright so there's that so far and then on the inside of the card we're going to layer this piece and we're gonna do the same thing with the doily so we're gonna put a couple pieces of adhesive here and then we'll add some adhesive along the bottom to hold the doily you know what let's just put some through the middle here too because that we don't have to lift it back up and put more adhesive down so that's gonna go here I'm gonna open this up all the way here that's gonna lay here and this is gonna come don't have it the right way I do that's gonna go down like this and we're just gonna make sure it's looking straight that looks pretty good okay then this gets popped up with dimensionals and because it's going to cover the flower that we didn't color we don't want to have a dimensional on this side of it because it's not going to have anything to stick to so we're just going to put the dimensionals straight down onto the top of that flower like that peel off the release paper add this like that I have two other versions to show you now we pull out the beautiful elegant faceted gems and our take your pick tool and we're going to grab the ones that look more I see the ones that are totally clear we're gonna put one here and these are the large ones because there's two different sizes on here and we're gonna put one here they seriously look like little raindrops they're so beautiful and then we'll take two small ones and we'll set one here so this tutorial bundle group by the way it's made up of twelve demonstrators from around the world we each make a tutorial and this time for the next six months actually starting this month and going through December we are going to be attaching links to our videos so we're doing how-to videos with each of our tutorials you get measurements in both Imperial and metric which was a challenge with mine this time because I had a fun fold card that I did and in fact that's gonna be part of the prizes that I'm doing this time is I made so many of this card that I have that to include in the prizes but it's a fun fold card that was very hard to adapt to a different size cardstock this is not hard to adapt to a different size cardstock this is the finished version my thoughts are with you again it could be for anything I mean it does not have to be sad thoughts it could be happy thoughts right so there's that card let me show you a couple other versions here this is another one that I did this is using the champagne foil and the colors are the same for the green but the pink flower is done with the petal pink petal pink blends and I also used the light Calypso coral blends with that so these are the colors for the flower the elegant faceted gems are the pink ones because they're come there's three different colors on that sheet so I use the pink ones there so that's the difference Oh in the cardstock face is early espresso on that one and then for this card I did the sides with vellum is that beautiful or what I love the vellum look it's see-through it's oh so pretty and then these are the white faceted gems the colors of the flower we're done with the I think this flamingo yes flirty flamingo blends so just to blends colors and then you can kind of see the faint little marks of that same look that the embossing folder gives so there's a couple areas there that's a stamp in the set it looks like this and I did that with stamped off twice so third generation granny apple green ink and that's how I got that look so let me zoom out so you can see all three cards so again directions for these cards will be on my blog tomorrow oops ooh man just a little bit this way these will be on my blog tomorrow photographs of them the supplies the directions in the video of course and the measurements will all be there tomorrow if you don't know where my blog is let me pull that up one more time here stamp you are calm and if you liked any of these products and you don't have a demonstrator or you're not a demonstrator yourself you can shop for products at stamperdog.com - by clicking on the shop button let me think what else oh I made an overlay for YouTube you guys look at that watch me on YouTube all you have to do is just do a search for my name and I should come up you could also search for stamp your art out but when you do commenting on YouTube live you need to be logged into your YouTube account in order to do so so I hope that that helps you when you join me next week I will do an invite for that so um we sell prizes to do don't we I feel like I'm ending the video already but not yet we have prizes but I I forgot what I was saying okay let's move to prizes right now so let's go over to the computer I've got my Facebook page pulled up so let's go over there really quick silly Rachel all right there we go all right we're at stamp your art out with Rachel for Facebook and we're just gonna click on the video link over here and that will bring us to the video that is live right now you can see there it is oops hang on it's generate its it's loading again we have to load it we have to load it now we have the live alright I'm gonna pull that up you can either click here I think or I'm gonna click on the videos just because that's what I'm used to so we're gonna grab the link for that and bring it into our comment picker so this is what I'm gonna miss I won't be able to do these live drawings I might have to do something non live but I promise you that if I do it non live from YouTube from this point on I promise you it will be random alright here we go get comments let's see how many unique users so we have I don't know how many are live with us right now but 174 of you have commented that's awesome thank you for chiming in and saying and helping people out if they had questions because you know I don't read those comments as we go on the live I'm so bad at it we're gonna click the start button and our winner for today is live and then then I'll announce the winners from last week oh we have Sharon Richardson baby congratulations to you Sharon Richardson you don't even know what you're winning I just don't silly me let me bring out the prizes all right let's get the table back over here so I can't show you the card because that's exclusive it's the one that I did in the tutorial and I cannot share that publicly so if you win this prize you cannot take photos of it if you win it but the prize winner for today miss Sharon Richardson is going to get a pack of the elegant faceted gems and then one of those cards that I made for the tutorial so congratulations to you Sharon and then we had winners from last week that I have already drawn I drew the names like 15 minutes before this video began and those two winners have a choice between these sets these are stamp sets that have retired but they are in new condition so let's find out who they are I have pulled their names up congratulations to Cindy and Mary Cindy was our commenter from Facebook during the last week and Mary commented sometime since Saturday when this got posted on when the last video got posted on YouTube so Mary and Cindy congratulations to you both winners please try to get a hold of me it's sometimes hard for me to get a hold of you as far as Cindy and Mary the first one to contact me gets the choice between the three and then the second one gets the choice between the two that are left so oh sure and I just saw your name pop up Congrats make sure that you message me I think in the commenting you can actually click message and it will allow you to send it directly to me otherwise I would have to go through these hundreds of comments and try to find you and it's hard so alright so I think that was it I feel like I was starting to say something earlier and I don't what it was but I think it had to do with prizes so yes if I'm going to do prizes on YouTube it's gonna be done a little differently I hope that you still join me even if I don't have that little carrot there I'll do prizes somehow not sure how but yes next week Wednesday July 8th on YouTube pulling that up for you and 11:00 a.m. Central time will be our start time I can't think if there's anything else make sure that you check out our tutorials that we have it's gonna be fun you're gonna love the bundle and I think that's it so I'm gonna let you guys go I'll see you next week Wednesday July 8th 11 a.m. Central time on YouTube and now I would like you all to go and stamp your art out bye bye
