Prince William and Kate's Royal Love Story (Part One)

with the duke and duchess of cambridge's 10th wedding anniversary approaching this year we're taking a look back at how their royal romance began their love story started at the university of saint andrews in with the pair living at the same student residence since salvatore's hall during their freshers year but it wasn't until a year later that sparks truly began to fly between the two kate reportedly won williams heart after she wore a very revealing sheer dress during a charity fashion show in their second year at uni the two started to spend much more time together moving into a shared flat with two other friends we were friends for over a year first um and it just sort of blossomed from then on we just spent more time with each other and had a good giggle had lots of fun and realized we shared the same interests and just you know had a really good time blossomed indeed after the couple graduated in 2005 kate and william were spotted in public on numerous occasions enjoying each other's company attending horse races together and even extravagant weddings royal fans started to speculate that prince william and his girlfriend were getting serious after kate watched william graduate from the royal military academy sandhurst in december 2006 it was the first time miss middleton was seen at a high profile event with other members of the royal family including the queen unfortunately the couple briefly called it quits in 2007 deciding to focus more on their professional lives than their love life will completed his military pilot training and kate worked as an accessories buyer in london at jigsaw you know we were both very young it was at university and we were we were sort of both finding ourselves as such and being you know different characters and stuff it was very much trying to find our own way and when we were growing up and so it was just sort of you know a bit of space and a bit of things like that and it soon worked out for the better i think you can get quite consumed by a relationship when you're younger and you know i really i really valued that time but after the couple reconciled a few months later it wasn't long until prince william finally popped the question in october 2010 the future king whisked kate away on a romantic safari trip to kenya where he proposed with princess diana's diamond and sapphire ring i'd been carrying it around me in my rucksack for about three weeks before that and i literally would not let it go everywhere i went i was keeping hold of it because i knew this thing if it disappeared i've been in a lot of trouble fans were ecstatic that the couple finally tied the knot in 2011 at westminster abbey all watched by millions of people around the world from their carriage ride to the newlyweds sweet kiss on the balcony at buckingham palace to relive the next chapter of the couple's romance hold on for part two [Music]
