i i there's an awful lot of things that if i was to read them now i'd say well good god i wish to god i haven't said that [Music] in the early years of your marriage was it difficult to find yourself in in the role in which you uh you were um how do i put it so that i say it correctly yes because i know when when well let me ask in what way specifically it was it was the toughest boy i that i really don't know there are a lot of problems and difficult inevitably it's it's it's an awkward situation to be in um there's only one other person really like me and that's the transparent of the netherlands and so we occasionally discuss he's the only other member of the union so to speak you tell him your problems and he tells you here do you get used to it oh yes you get used to anything you'd be surprised i had heard when i was in wales and and perhaps it was a just one of these foolish rumors that go around that there might be some possibility of the queen abdicating at some future date for her son she is still such a young woman and and there might be some fears that his royal highness might be a very old man if he when he came to the throne is this something that hasn't all been considered or is it just a rumor as far as i know it's a rumor um i mean it has its attractions obviously but um no i i don't think it's it's been thought of very seriously and and in fact i'm not sure that the the advantages uh necessarily outweigh the disadvantages so to speak of this course the idea that that he would only be capable of making any contribution if he was sovereign is really not true there have been so many cases where the air has in fact had a very particular uh ability to to do things which he wouldn't have otherwise but i mean these who knows these things it's all in the future everything might happen there are those who say that the monarchy is an anachronism that its day is over that it serves no purpose other than a kind of tradition and stability what do you think it's its main purpose and advantages in this day for your country i think it's perfectly valid uh system for for producing a head of state as a start not only that it it exists and it has been very successful for a thousand years it has the advantage that it involves a whole family which means that there are different age groups are part of it it isn't one single middle-aged man no matter how worthy he may be in a recent poll in great britain people said that if they were going to elect a president you would be the man they elected i wonder how you think you might have faired as a politician if you would have enjoyed that life at all that's a hypothetical question which i don't normally answer there seems to be no future i'm not a politician and this system doesn't exist so it's hardly worth worrying about hey thanks for watching our youtube channel find your favorite recipes celebrity interviews uplifting stories shop our favorite deals and so much more with the today app download it now
