hello everybody it is ebontis and today I want to talk to you all about Prince of Persia the Lost crown and give you some tips now I'm going to try and spoil as a little as possible there's a couple things that may happen just as I work through stuff but my goal is to spoil as little as possible Still Still explain as much as I can so your journey through this game is a little smoother now the game actually does a pretty good job with tutorials generally if you pay attention but there's a lot of stuff that can be covered quickly maybe just one time maybe you want to practice more maybe just reminders can be helpful so that's the goal if you watch this video Even if you played for a couple hours you're like e what can I learn hopefully from this you'll learn a few things maybe a couple that you may not have thought of but overall that's the goal make your journey through the game a little smoother now one of the big things in this game is it's a Metroid Vania and you're going to have a respawn Point depending on what you've been to where you've been and all that fun stuff respawn points are set by the trees now how do you find these whack whack trees which you'll I think they literally call them that I'm not sure if I'm saying it right but you'll you'll notice on screen right now below my feet right here there are these little Golden Leaves and then in the air you're going to see these little wisps that travel and there's also the little kind of leaves around them and then as I follow this down you'll notice there's a few more leaves on that pile and then down here we've got a few more and then it looks like they're going in here these are your guidance to these trees so you going to be exploring in a new area working on you know heading towards a boss or an objective or whatever it may be if you see one of these my recommendation go to it because it's going to give you a respawn point now before I go in and show you the tree the respawn Point's important because you see how this tree has the little blue circle around it that is where you will respawn now when you get somewhere in the middle of the game you're going to get more abilities that allow you to go back to areas you went to before but maybe with a new ability so you can explore farther or do more things and you could be halfway across the map doing something over here and then all of a sudden you're working on something and you die and instead of you know stopping by this tree that's nearby by this area you didn't even and it's cuz you've been there and you've like okay so I'm just running through here skipping over this tree cuz I'm going for this one objective but you just die along the way then you have to go all the way back and respawn over here and get all the way back over there now there's fast travel now you can get sometimes closer which will help but generally I would recommend if you've been in an area before and you're going to work on a certain thing go find the nearest tree and set the respawn point and when you head back in then you can set your fast travel back in kind of more of a home base area but as you go to work on certain objectives and just remember this for Mid game go visit those trees that are close to something you're working on and if you are working on something you haven't found a tree in a while explore because sometimes if you just get to the next room or follow those little wisps or look for those you're going to find those trees which are really really helpful now this is the Haven this is going to be your main Hub it's got a tree which we'll talk about in a second you've got fabria who's kind of the wise child she knows all the locations and depending on how you set up the game for guided or exploration she actually has some really good tips for you now if you're going on guided mode it's going to put actual markers on your map for your next Quest step is going to be right here with an icon or you can't go through this path right now because of whatever reason if you do just kind of normal expiration mode she's going to give you tips that will say Hey you probably need to head to this area that sounds like this and usually it's pretty obvious and also if you have maybe not played the game in two weeks you can come back and visit her and she's going to tell you the last tip she told you and just kind of repeat it for you and that'll give you a reminder of where to go so if you pick up the game 2 weeks later you'll be in better shape because she's going to give you advice and the tips aren't expensive they're like 30 crystals or 40 or 50 or something they're cheap and I bought a lot of them as I went through an exploration even though I kind of knew what I was doing they're they're nice they're nice advice not too much but they're enough to point you in the right direction to what's next this is the Mage now she's going to be one of your vendors I've bought everything she's got for sale biggest things she's going to sell are potion upgrades both how many potions you can hold and then also how effective your potions are so what I would recommend early on when you're going for upgrades instead of just buying all the different amulets there are certain ones that are going to be good like if you want to help have more defense or take less damage from physical attacks that's probably one worth buying but you don't need to buy all the random stuff she's got I would focus on some of the potions first and then as Things become cost prohibitive then you could work on other stuff as you go but I wouldn't really upgrade your potion Effectiveness first because until you find you know the ability to increase your health bars by doing different things throughout the game for a little while you're just going to want more potions then as you get a bigger health bar and you realize you're not filling it up as much then you could work on the actual upgrades of how effective the potions are but my recommendation quantity of potions first and then potion Effectiveness amulets only as you need them or as you run through a lot of currency it's up to you now before I get to the other two in the area let's talk about the tree the tree is going to as I said set your respawn point refill your health refill your potions refill your arrows this is where you're going to be able to mess with amulets now amulets really let you set up your build and in a game like this normally it's just like hey you're a character you get a couple extra abilities like you get a grappling hook or you get a double jump or whatever it is like an or in the world of L but you never really change like a skill tree almost but you do this by amulets and this and then you can lean into the amulets even more as you go now when I say you have play Styles I went very offensive four Dam Dage now my difficulty was on medium high not the absolute craziness but it was that was up there and I still went more offensive because I had parries that could restore health I had air attacks with my melees and my regular melees both bumped and if I did take damage it would boost my arra buildup which would allow me to do my big arra surges and these are kind of your special attacks that you do which you'll see them as you go through I don't need to show you those but that's one and I made my arrows moreor power powerful when I dodged I did um better damage all that type of stuff you can lean like the complete other direction you can as I said you can decrease the power of incoming melee damage you can decrease environmental damage you can have like a Revive on death moment Frost fire poison resist I mean those are completely different amulets across the board you can also have when you parry have a Time bubble have a Parry get some health back and then you can even lean into having your combos go longer or doing extra attacks when you um have a sword attack all of those things play into your play style if you're a speedrunner or a challenge Runner you're going to set yourself up in a different way like this one slightly increase melee attack power while in full health and you'll notice some say slightly some say greatly some say moderately at a base level all of these things will do a little bit of an increase and then you upgrade it once does a little bit more you upgrade it again which is the max level it will do greatly or large or whatever the adverb is of an increase and they all have a cost like reducing incoming Melee D damage that takes three Slots of my amulets I have 12 total slots now cuz I've nearly found I think I've probably found all the slots I don't imagine there's more but like this is one having my arrows do more damage is I thought an effective use but again if I wanted to go defensive I could take this one off put this one on and now I've got my damage massively reduced so it's really in what you want your build to be and maybe I want to mess with something like that who knows but the idea here is you can really into what you want your preference to be I wanted more offense to be able to take things out quicker and especially if I was Airborne cuz you're actually Airborne quite a bit but if like you want to survive you can lean into that kind of build and there's nothing wrong with either way so you can do that you can mess with your AOS surges and they set your respawn point but remember as you're exploring try and go find that new tree and the other thing is also as you find you know unlock abilities and then go retrace your steps in an area where maybe you couldn't go before go visit a tree in that area so you don't have a respawn point halfway across the damn world when you die on on accident or whatever so don't forget about that then over here we've got the blacksmith doesn't take too long to unlock the blacksmith she is a side quest by the way side quests are worth doing biggest thing she's going to allow you to upgrade the damage of your weapons now you saw there were some amulets that do the same thing but upgrading the base level of your weapons obviously going to be a big thing for the overall game and you'll notice it's going to cost a pretty good chunk now I beat the game that's why I have so much Crystal I was never sitting this flush in money for the entire game I always spin it um and that's kind of the thing depending on your build style you'll lean into the stuff that you're going to upgrade so you can see to finish the upgrade on this one I need a xers coin which is a special currency typically you're going to find the xerses coins they look kind of like that they're little floating kind of goldish off gold coin and they're usually in platforming sections and the way it works is you'll usually be working through a platform section like you know you've got a jump and a gra and a stash and all these things around and it's going to be floating and you'll usually find it in the middle of a floating area well what happens is you need to pass through it it'll hover near you and then when you land on safe ground again then you'll actually collect it so if you actually pass through the coin but then hit the spikes you won't actually collect the coin you need to go back through that little jumping platforming puzzle land on safe ground then you'll see it they'll actually collect just a random piece of advice there but the xers coins are needed for kind of the top upgrade and then if I want to upgrade something like this one for example she's going to do her like thunder clap slam here which is always cool and definitely don't piss her off so you can see it's upgraded now it's going to be restore a moderate amount of health and then I'm going to imagine it's going to see it says a great amount of health so this is kind of your defensive one time you know if you die you get to come back kind of thing but the blacksmith is a really good place to visit and these type of upgrades she's also got got one to increase the capacity of your bow I've just maxed that one out so it's not here anymore but visit these try and figure out how you want to play the game do I want to go defense do I want to go offense and what is going to be the benefits for my play style so I can make it through this game in the most efficient way possible finally here in the Haven well two things one you got fast travel point up here so you notice how I mentioned with the golden trees there's like these little wind lines and wisps and that will kind of guide you to the trees whenever you see like these like purple crystalline kind of jagged things around the edges of your screen in this kind of purple glow you're going to be near a fast travel point when you find one not always but generally near um trees but believe me they're not always by trees you're going to see it's kind of broken it's got this little portal in front of it well if you hit the portal thing three times it's going to create a fast travel point and then you can pick where you want to go and the Fast Travel points are really beneficial I went through that quickly so I don't spoil too much so we're going to go over here and now I have an amulet equipped that does avoid attack and you'll notice normally my attacks don't have anything going on but my little amulet up top every so often it comes back when I don't attack and that's a ranged attack that's just an ulent th thing and if I want that to do even more damage then I could choose to take it on or upgrade it whatever it is but that's one that I didn't even have on for most of the game but it's just like that's an optional thing but I could also go for fire resist or Frost resist or resistance against things something's kicking my butt lean into the defensive versus the offensive speaking of offensive you've got combat and this guy up here is legit helpful one he's got a ton of tutorials they're going to teach you things that you probably aren't even going to think of like the charge attacks taught me something I never would have even considered I promise you um so he's actually pretty cool I don't know when he exactly unlocks but he is definitely one to visit and work through all of these tutorials two things one you'll learn a lot and two you're going to get the crystal currency I went through by the time I found him I think I had all but like I don't know three of these things to do and when it through them I think I got a thousand crystals from them by the time I did all the tutorials and I definitely felt better in combat so spend a little time do all the challenges and then when a game has like a fighting game like mode of practice where you can really work on your moves and everything you know it's going to be like a legit like fighting game now those paries are really really helpful when their eyes glow orange or whenever their attack glows yellow sorry not orange but yellow you're going to know that you can do one of those attacks that's parryable and if you do it you're going to just kill the enemy it could be a big enemy it could small enemy or if you do it to a boss you're going to be able to get a good chunk of damage so learning to Parry is worth the time but if Parry is not really your thing will cover the settings where you can make Parry a little bit easier but even if Perry isn't in your thing you've got the ability to dodge slide Dodge you'll have even more options for Mobility later on that I don't really want to show you too much um but that's kind of the thing thing spend a little time in here trying to figure out the timing if Perry is tough make the Parry window a little easier and you can really have a good time in this combat if you just spend a little time practicing some enemies are tough some are going to be easier but overall the main things to learn are launching enemies in the air cuz that does two things it moves your combat to a different level than anything else that might be on the ground and it allows you to basically immobilize them so they can't attack you you now you can't do that launch to the bigger kind of you know Hefty big enemies you can't do this to them but you can actually jump and still attack in the air you can do this kind of if I can actually time it right so you can do some attacks that are in the air to the bigger guys like that and you can kind of air hover and that's why for me as I'm being off the ground a little bit it allows you to be off the ground doing damage and still allows me to take advantage of one of my artifacts where I do more Airborne damage but but the air juggle really good learning to Parry versus Dodge cuz the red attacks you can't Dodge you can't Dodge those you well you can dodge those you can't Parry them I'm sorry and you can't see a red attack here but I can still Dodge all I want just toy with this guy the final thing is arrows when you get arrows sometimes if there are airborne enemies in platforming sections the auto aim is pretty generous use the arrows shoot them out of the sky it is generally never worth the time to try and like jump to them and swing in the air for whatever ever you're going to do more often than not just shoot the guys out of the air and you're going to be a little happier also if you're dealing with something far away you've got two options one you've got a charge attack that covers almost the whole screen and or if you're just near a guy and you don't have the best place to do this just unload like 10 arrows on the guy and just work him down to where he's easier to kill and then if you can do some damage to him then they're going to die a little quicker so air do air juggling really important cuz that can going allow you to just kind of isolate an enemy and really kind of take them out of the equation parrying versus dodging spend some time practicing and also arrows use them cuz it's never too hard to get them back a lot of the places once you start seeing arrows you'll find them and they're worth using so just a couple things but do all of the tutorials they're fantastic all right so the next thing to talk about is the map I used it a lot honestly whether it's just seeing that I've got a section that's unexplored and the reason I can see this is because you can also find fabria the kind of tip giv her you can find her out in the world and she will give you access to kind of download all of a map area to your map and she's definitely worth finding for those so exploration is good that way also exploring is just generally rewarding very rarely am I going to go through a tough platforming section and get something like a lore bit it's either going to be an amulet an amulet socket maybe some crystals like a chunk of crystals like maybe 200 or something more often than not it is always going to net you something better than just l L the lore is just kind of a bonus you'll find along the way usually they little like shimmers on the ground you'll see them as little kind of like kind of really small glowing white spots on the ground they're not the most obvious but they're usually like if you start seeing them you know what to look for the other thing is hidden walls do exist now I don't want you to go run around and try and smack every single wall but there are some walls that are going to like be breakable now there's one I got to when I got far enough down in a story section where I was like how the heck do I get out of here I'm like stuck in this room cuz I can't get out that was a point where the hidden walls you eventually find them so if you get to a point you're like I am physically stuck in here I can't jump high enough to get out of wherever big room I'm in try the walls on the sides but also there are secret ones that you'll find along the way and there are a couple ways where you're going to be able to find that if you get the deluxe version or the pre-order version or whatever this is the prosperity bird comes with it and you'll hear a special sound kind of a chirp from the bird when you're either near Treasure Chest which is typically hidden or or near a hidden item and also tends to kind of high like you know go look at the walls that may need a little little you know nudge to be like hey you might want to check this wall kind of thing now this is an amulet that you can actually just get in equip emits a special sound to indicated nearby Treasure Chest so you can do this either way this one's just a free amulet that you can equip this one does cost one slot for searching around remember when you equip amulets you have to be at a tree so kind of plan your travel accordingly but this one as part of the deluxe bonus was nice it didn't like it was a nice little nudge to be like hey you might want to explore a little more around here it's not like here's the thing so it wasn't a giveaway but as a pre-order bonus I kind of appreciated it helped the helped nudge me into more exploration than I maybe would have naturally but if you're one of those people who explores all the edges of the map you're probably not going to need it anyway and if you find this amulet it'll nudge you in the right direction but exploration generally it's going to be worth your time now while we're in here the other thing I want to talk about for worth your time is all of the options and settings and accessibility stuff that you've got in here so when you get into accessibility you've got true accessibility options disable screen Shake vibration melee targeting like platforming assist for some people I know the platforming sections are going to be just a little much or maybe you're just at the end of a long day and you're like I just I don't want to do this one right now but I'd like to know it's at the end platform assist you will literally create a portal that lets you skip the challenging platforming section so like if you just get the one that's just absolutely breaking you and you're like oh this is so frustrating but I really want to know it or I got almost all the way there and I made one stupid mistake you could turn this on if you're like okay I figured it out I just I can't seem to get it right now I want to get past this so turn this on the portal and you can even just come back in turn the platforming assist off if you don't want to use it anymore and you know take the you know desire to cheat kind of out of there but if you want to use that trust me don't feel bad about it either there are some of these that are absolutely brutal Auto unfreeze like the freezing ability you kind of need to shake a controller that's accessibility uh you've also got high contrast mode which is cool and Vis visible interactions these will be like things that you can interact with probably like those hidden walls I talked about I haven't tested this completely lore bits on the ground it just makes them a little more visible to spot so if you want to just turn this on and leave it there I think this would be a fair thing to do just like hey if I'm in an area I Don't Want to Miss a small a less visible thing just make it easier to spot turn this on leave it on and that way you're not going to miss anything but when it also comes to uh gameplay you've got a couple of things and difficulty really make this game your own so I told you you can kind of make your own build well you can also figure out how hard you want this game to be some people want it crazy hard some people don't want it to be hard you can do both now guided is going to change the map where it tells you exactly where to go instead of you having to explore and kind of listen to fabria for hints and kind of go along with the quest and stuff this is going to give you hey here's your NE next objective go here hey this wall you can't go through here right now it is currently blocked that kind of thing it makes the map a lot more linear path through the game kind of thing so if you want to be guided that's fine if you'd rather explore on your own you can turn that guy off um biggest thing is difficulty I played it on hero I've played these games before so I kind of enjoy the challenge I did not go for Immortal cuz I'm not that crazy and I actually also wanted to get some of these videos done but I wanted a good challenge if this is your first one you can go to rookie half enemy damage half enemy Health half environmental damage and this could be a thing too maybe you're like I enjoy the difficulty but platforming maybe I want to be a little less annoyed by that so when you fall when you're platforming you don't just fully die you'll just take some damage from your health and you respawn kind of at the last safe standing point that you were at well if you want to just spin more you want to be less punished for trying environmental platforming puzzles do this and the Damage you take is going to be a lot less and you won't be as punished for trying to do platforming puzzles you get a lot more attempts before you got to worry about your health pairing is pairing something you want to make easy hard or normal and if you're working on practicing pairing start it on easy when you feel better try it on normal and see how you're doing Dodge you can make that normal or you can make your Dodge window longer and then arra which is kind of your super abilities you can make your ability to gain arra and lose arra a lot more forgiving or a lot more punishing so you really really really can make this game however easy or difficult you want it to be and I know there's going to be people who experienced this for the first time that are thankful for these and crazy people speedr runners who want to take no hit and do this at level one who turn it up to this and everything in between so look into the settings find what is fun for you and just embrace the fun literally there's no reason not to embrace the fun and if you know a linear path through the game so you're not wandering around too much a couple visible interactions that are helpful and maybe skipping a couple of the platforming puzzles let you have a great time in the game do it I see no reason not to these settings are here enjoy the game however you see fit because you're the one playing it you should have a good time so the final tip I want to tell you guys and they show you what this is but it's more of a recommendation of kind of how to use it um it's these memory shards and they are probably one of the coolest things for Metroid vany I've seen and probably something that will be done by other games in the future and what your ability is is I'll go find one that's easier to show you say for example this marker what it does is it takes a screenshot on where you are and it puts it on the map so you can access it later and I can figure out why did I have this place saved well there looks like a platform it would kind of shake I see the map I can go down but I couldn't go down so I wanted to save because at some point I need to come back and go through this area well the nice thing also on the map you can see this Arrow tells me the only way to go through this doorway or this segment I have to come from this direction upward so this is just kind of a double reminder to say I didn't make it through here and the map actually tells you you can only go one way and you can even check a little bit more here like this part right here I have to come from the left this one from the left this one from the right there are little hints on the map that are nice nudges you know if there's a certain area that looks like hey this is like spiky rollers and there's water down below that's probably what's going on there so the map is really beneficial but these little screenshot save points all you got to do literally hit for me it's down on the d-pad so you save it and then I go back and I can look at the map and be like that's exactly where I am so for some reason there's some thing I'm like hey I got to this section it seems like I can go to this place but right now I can't for some reason I'll probably get an ability later like here I could only jump so high maybe sometime later by some ability I'm going to be able to be able I'm going to be able to get higher and sorry for the stumble there but I'm going to be able to get higher somehow so I saved this to say I wasn't able to explore it I know at some point I'm going to be able to probably do this it's Metroid Vania and when I come back I'll probably be able to see what's up above and I know I can do that now and I just haven't been back there but when I get back there I can actually delete the memory and it lets me use them cuz you don't have an infinite number but generally I've always had enough to save all the spots that I've wanted to but use your map look at your map fast travel is nice remember as you fast travel around pass by a tree and stop at that tree to make sure you save yourself a little uh respawn Point that's closer than you know three miles away and that's most of the tips that I've got if you have tips that you feel like you want to add put those in the comments because I'm not going to try and tell everything now there is one more that I want to show you guys and it's really not that crazy but it's just when you get an ability so this is a bit of a spoiler warning you can kind of jump to the end if you want to um but you're going to get an ability that is pretty cool and what it's going to let you do is it's going to let you air Dash well what that does is it allows you to do things that you might not think about and that's why I say go through the combat tutorials and also shoot stuff out of the air literally a prime reason it's not worth fighting them but the air Dash is cool cuz what it allows you to do is to scale pretty much any wall you might not think about it but the idea is when you air Dash you jump away from a wall so all you do is literally jump away and go back and you can scale pretty much anything and you might not think you could do that and you can just literally scale it forever so it's just a small tip and it's later in the game when you get some of those abilities but if you're looking at a wall and you're like I could totally get up that but I feel like I'm not entirely sure if I could get high enough if you can get to the wall once you have that you'll always like slide down it but if you jump away and then dash at it you can climb most walls once you get that down so just a little Advanced tip for you guys without spoiling too much that's about as far as I can go if you did enjoy the video drop a like below as I said if I forgot something leave a comment below uh if you want to find my other stuff going on if you look up ebontis you'll either find me on Twitch or Twitter at
