on the 9th of April 2005 the Prince of Wales finally married his longtime love Camilla parker-bowles the 30-year love story finally had a happy ending but it has one chapter missing the little-known tale of the blonde Australian socialite who captivated Prince Charles and then joined forces with Diana against their mutual enemy Camilla her name was Dale triumph but to the world she was simply kanga was it Prince Charles who nicknamed you that's all I really can't remember who who gave me the name that certainly was you know people who say oh the Kangaroos coming for dinner or you know and it got shortened to today yourself Eliza was coming in the early 70s the dazzling Australian was caught up in a love triangle with Prince Charles and her arch rival Camilla Parker Bowles and there was this kind of push me pull you going on between these two mistresses and they hated each other their enmity lasted more than 20 years but by the end one had got her man and the other was dead for a mysterious fall would leave Dale crippled mentally unstable and rejected by high society her story has almost been airbrushed from history until now using interviews never before seen and with the journalists who were to become her confidence opening up for the first time this is the untold story of Dale Tryon Prince Charles's other mistress in the early 70s Roger Moore was bond Tom Jones was driving women wild and George best was scoring both on and off the pitch but these alpha males could not come close to the most intoxicating sex God of the time His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales [Music] he was the most eligible bachelor on the planet girls everywhere threw themselves at him and his princely charms were seemingly irresistible it was Prince Charles as the heir to the throne that was the only story in town and the press who was fascinated by the search for a royal bride was very very busy unearthing any past of any girl he ever even danced with poor thing let alone go out with yet very few outside his circle knew about Prince Charles's secret love 26 year old debutante Camilla Shand who also had an official boyfriend dashing cavalry officer Andrew Parker Bowles the Prince of Wales met Camilla SH and absolutely fell in love with her but before long her plan to marry Andrew Parker Bowles came to fruition but the princes secret love life was about to get much more complicated in 1972 in bounced kanga Dale Harper fresh from Australia Dale is a 25 year old blonde socialite uninhibited in party loving she was an instant hit in London high society she exploded onto the scene here you know not only was she a blonde bombshell but she was a breath of fresh air she was enormously warm funny the best sort of Sheila Dale was the elder daughter of Melbourne businessman Barry Harper and his wife Jean she had grown up in a wealthy privileged environment with no shortage of parties and admirers I think she came to England with completely open mind she'd started work in public relations and pretty soon found herself on the party circuit she was going - Annabelle's nightclub into the smart restaurants and mixing with really quite a high flow and set and before too long she met Ultron and it was an instant match Antony Tryon was a blue-chip aristocrat former page of honour to the Queen close friend to Prince Charles and utterly smitten by Dale within six months they were engaged he was really the sort of polar opposite of Dale because he was very tall and sort of quite ramrod stiff almost sort of military bearing and very sort of English heiress to aristocracy didn't say much for us mm-hmm and he loved the fact that she was vivacious she was all the things perhaps he wasn't in November 1972 Lord Tryon took his fiancee to a ball at Buckingham Palace it was to be a fateful decision when he introduced Dale to Prince Charles the chemistry was instant she was a natural wonderful fan Australian girl who wasn't in awe of anybody and often people like in Lord transposition and his Charles's position find that people are either too frightened to speak to them or they lick their boots and Lubell were never done either of those things because she was just so down to earth the prince was captivated and Dale quickly became part of his inner circle for the first time Camilla had a serious rival and like Camilla Dale had a racy past that put her out of the running as a royal bride what about the stories that your mum and dad ships you out of Australia not approving of a couple of boyfriends well they didn't ship me out they flew me at was it true that your mum actually flew to Hong Kong to make sure you got on the plane to continue on to London yes it was true yes true it was always said you know that the Prince of Wales had to marry this sort of he knew tremendously pure or sort of as it were aristocratic or indeed even royal girl I mean there's nothing written down in the Constitution to say yes to anything of thought but I think it is only common sense that the person that the Prince of Wales would marry should fulfill the future role of Queen without lots of sort of ex-boyfriends coming out of the woodwork and selling their stories and telling your details about her as the prince took up his naval duties both Dale and Camilla got married first Dale became Lady Tryon in the Chapel Royal of San James's Palace and five months later Camilla married Andrew Parker Bowles at the guards chapel a stone's throw from Buckingham Palace bizarrely these marriages made them even more suitable companions for the prince it's well known in royal circles that if you're going to have an affair with a woman make sure she's married make sure she's got more to lose the new have [Music] Kamilah and Dale were formidable rivals but camilla had the edge her great-grandmother alice couple had been Edward the seventh favorite mistress and like a relation before her kamila implicitly understood the unwritten rules she had the long view of history she could see what had happened a hundred years before with her ancestor and Charles's ancestor and she saw that here was an opportunity to recreate this wonderful situation where she would be La Favorita just as mrs. Keppel had been to King Edward the seventh she didn't want this wonderful accident of history to be blown apart by some ozzie newcomer coming from Australia Dale was unaware of the aristocracy's way of doing things for Camilla however it was in her DNA there's a wonderful antediluvian rule amongst the aristocracy that when you marry your husband you remain faithful to him until the son and heir is born and however foolish this may seem to the rest of us that is the way they do it and from the time that she married in 1973 until she gave birth to Tom Pachelbel's in 1975 Camilla was effectively off-limits and she stuck to that rule even though she was very worried when she saw Dale hoping to cite Dale saw her opportunity and moved in on Prince Charles she quickly became queen bee in his influential circle the gloves were off and Camilla would need nerves of steel to stay in the game but Dale would soon jeopardize everything she had achieved in the 1970s Prince Charles was the most eligible bachelor in the world [Music] but secretly he was embroiled in a love triangle with two married women Camilla parker-bowles and Dale kanga tryin and by 1974 Dale had overtaken Camilla to become his favorite this beautiful Australian who suddenly comes on the scene when Camilla is pregnant and waiting for the birth of her son who suddenly grabs hold of the Prince of Wales by the scruff of the neck and has this deep and meaningful relationship to become the mistress of the Prince of Wales of course was wonderfully powerful everybody would defer to you everybody would look up to you all in this rarefied aristocratic circle and suddenly you become queen bee but bursting to share her news Dale made her first mistake she began confiding in gossip columnist slike The Daily Mail's Nigel Dempster small accurate diary stories started to appear in the newspapers about her closeness to Prince Charles there was no question for me and Nigel Dempster at the time that Dale Tran was having an affair with the Prince of Wales because she told dempster that I was only brief afterwards and told always to take her calls whenever he was away Dale even began to phone journalists minutes after she'd seen Prince Charles it very soon became apparent to me that indeed that had been some sort of activity and I could only surmise that it was of a rather intimate nature it's just bizarre that the people she did want to tell were journalist Dale had broken the cardinal royal rule not only had she blabbed but she had blabbed to journalists it was in stark contrast to Camilla's low profile and complete discretion bonus Pachelbel's comes from one of those County a static families which they just don't talk and very wise they are not - and the golden rule with all these things is to say nothing Lord try on an old-school aristocrat also understood the rules the Prince became a regular visitor to Lord and Lady Trials will chair estate Prince Charles would come down to their house in Wiltshire and all Tryon would find it necessary to go on a shooting party or go fishing leaving the Prince of Wales there with his wife to use the phrase comfort stock would be perhaps rather vulgar but I think Charles would often look at the map and think he just finished some engagement in Salisbury or a polo match or whatever and why not half an hour to spare an hour if Jo was lucky and in that time Dale would have to prepare herself have a stiff whisky or two and be all things to all men but all things to one man particularly she didn't really talk about him very much not when I was there but I remember once her taking a phone call and afterwards sort of smiling and saying oh it's a gesturing to the telephone during the 1970s Lord and Lady Tryon would go on annual fishing holidays to their hunting lodge in Iceland and Prince Charles would be among the guests the time when they saw most of each other was when they went to Antony's Lodge in Iceland every spring to fish for salmon and they'll did candlelit dinners and and I think they had lots of opportunities to have long chats then and I know that when his chalice was mentioned Dale said to me I feel very much loved and I'm very happy but that could've been because she had such a wonderful friendship it's not for me to say anything more but Dale's time in pole position was running out on the 18th of December 1974 Camila produced an air Thomas Charles and who better to make Godfather than her former flame Prince Charles Dale too was expecting when one got particularly pregnant then he would go to the other one and vice versa not to be outdone when Dale produced an heir for her husband she also asked Prince Charles to be godfather to her son named Charles Tryon and there was this kind of push me pull you going on between these two mistresses and they hated each other but after the birth of her son Dale suffered from postnatal depression and did not bounce back straight away this was the first sign of the mental fragility that would later lead to her breakdown it was a state of affairs not helped by Camilla's reappearance at the princes side well you know it said that an English gentleman will always lay down his wife his country and this was certainly true in the case of Andrew Parker Bowles in 1979 there was very little pretense about the intensity of the relationship between Prince Charles and Camilla most of the week he would be staying that Bohle Hyde manner sometimes Audrey Parker Bowles would come home at the weekend and Prince Charles would stay but there was a very curious man out at wire between these three of which Dale could only look on in despair on the 27th of August 1979 an event took place that would change the dynamic between all key players Prince Charles's most beloved relation Lord Mountbatten was murdered by the IRA a 300 pound bomb had been planted on his boat well the death of Lord Mountbatten who was blown up by the IRA was was a enormous shock to everybody and to nobody more than to Prince Charles Prince Charles heard the news in Iceland where he was staying with the try ons and I think that this was a moment when in his deepest despair he could actually use what Dale was best at which was comfort council support kindness a stream of tributes to Lord Mountbatten and condemnation of the killings has continued throughout the day Prince Charles had arrived a few hours earlier from Iceland landing at RAF Benson in Oxfordshire [Music] the death of his great uncle was a sobering moment in Prince Charles's life [Music] he realized the time had come to do his duty and find a wife and he had also made the statement that he thought that 30 was roughly the age when he should do this so to me two were out in force and wondering where the bride was and who she might be Dail to had played her part in this search inviting the Prince to meet eligible young girls in Australia and true to form made sure the press was kept informed the Prince attended what was to have been a secret party in Turek at the home of mr. and mrs. Barry Harper their daughter lady try and said the function was to allow Prince Charles to meet some attractive young Australians who never appear at traditional royal functions the princes worldwide search for a bride ended with the girl next door Lady Diana Spencer had grown up at Park House on the Sandringham Estate and her family had been royal courtiers for generations age 19 she was chosen to play the part of the Princess of Wales I'm that she's in brave enough to take me on it was a royal love story that captivated the world but early in their relationship Diana became acutely aware of the influence and power that Camilla and Dale had over her future husband by her wedding day both she and Charles were having second thoughts the Archbishop of Canterbury knew that there were huge reservations and yet there seemed to be a determination on all sides to press these two individuals together in marriage because the arrangements had taken six or nine months to put together there were hundreds of thousands of people standing outside some polls there were millions of people watching it on television they couldn't say I'm sorry the bride's not coming today but even as Diana prepared to walk down the aisle it was not Prince Charles that she was focused on the crucial moment in the royal wedding was when Princess Diana came through the West door of some Paul's Cathedral when she was looking not for her husband but for Camilla I wonder whether Diana also looked around to see whether she could see Ganga also looking on the two mistresses as she sailed up towards her future husband Charles Philip Arthur George wilt thou have this woman to thy wedded wife forsaking all other keep thee only unto her so long as you both shall live it was perhaps one of the most hypocritical moments in British public history where there were two mistresses and a woman who knew that she didn't want to marry her husband and who knew that the husband didn't want to marry her while the crowd went wild diana was all too aware that the wedding was far from a fairy tale Charles and his new bride attended the official wedding breakfast at Buckingham Palace neither Dale nor Camilla were invited Camilla as the rules dictated discreetly slipped away but Dale would not go unnoticed and once more courted the press it was a very difficult time when Diana married Charles because Dale was then in direct competition with Camilla as to see who would have the most influence and Dale rang up and indeed I took this call when she rang up to say that a number of her friends were having an alternative wedding breakfast because she hadn't been invited to prop one and if I was to book a table it would be very rewarding after the wedding Charles settled down to concentrate on his duty to provide an heir Dale and Camilla was surplus to requirements the Prince of Wales seems to have had a very cavalier attitude to the principle women in his life there's something else in it something quite kind of unseemly I think about the way he picked up certain people you know married women and and dropped him when they weren't of much use now out of Charles's life Dale needed a new way to ensure that she stayed in the spotlight she had a brainwave and launched a high profile fashion label you get into the fashion business well I really found that with four children and the traveling to Australia and all over the place I couldn't find anything that that was easy care easy where Dale's boutique in fashionable Beach in place Knightsbridge was an instant success and milking her royal connections for all they were worth she called the business kanga kanga understood very well the black arts of PR and so she thought if I'm here to make money I'm gonna use everything I've got Dale took to her new role with relish but in high society it raised eyebrows could you tell me what the price of the dress is it's 325 that's quite reasonable actually for a party dress it's very hard to explain how extraordinary it was to have a lady in trade she was coming into the middle of London into one of London's most fashionable streets Beecham glaze and she was saying Here I am come and buy Dale was flying high not only was her business a worldwide success it brought something far more valuable a friendship with Diana Princess of Wales I think diana in the end came to realise that Camilla was the main opposition that she was the enemy and on the basis of my enemy's enemy is my friend she could see that there was some purpose in having an alliance with Dale being Diana's friend not only brought great publicity but also secured her place back in Charles's life I think there was a photograph I think of Donna and Dale going to lunch in San Lorenzo once again just down the road from Kengo um and then when Diana wore one of Dale's dresses we all thought well that's good you know clever kanga she's got the Princess of Wales who was becoming well known for her fashions to wear one of her outfits [Music] Diana herself was becoming no stranger to making tacit public statements when she attended Live Aid in 1985 she wore kanga the message was loud and clear Diana and Dale had joined forces nobody was better delivering a subliminal message than Princess Diana she was colossal II good at it and Live Aid when she turned up with a very doleful looking Prince Charles she was wearing a kanga dress now this was a delivered snub to Camilla Dale was once again at the top of her game I lied to Diana still close to her beloved Prince Charles and an internationally successful businesswoman Camilla by contrast seemed pushed out of the picture but everything was about to come crashing down as a mysterious fall would signal the beginning of the end of the woman known as kanga by the mid-1980s Dale kanga Tryon seemed to have secured her place in the bosom of the royal family with Diana as an ally against Camilla Dale was once again back in Prince Charles's inner circle for Camilla the discrete waiting game continued out of the public eye he says Dale is the only woman who ever understood me this of course is very undermining to Camilla who is determined that she will keep hold of him at all costs and at this stage you have this unspoken but incredibly bitter rivalry between these two women for the heart and soul of the Prince of Wales Dale had even become a regular riding companion of the Queen she rode with the Queen every October because they went to Balmoral they had I think standing in rotation and the Queen enjoyed her company but dales love of the limelight was becoming an embarrassment as she exploited her royal connections ever more publicly even appearing on quiz shows how should you formally address the Earl of Chester yes well he's Lord no he isn't you should address the Earl of Chester as your royal highness because the Earl of Chester is Prince Charles I think that turned Charles slightly against her in that she became too sherry to too flamboyant totally in contrast to Camilla who was sitting in a farmhouse going hunting three days a week and and not doing much else as Charles's marriage failed he turned not to Dale but to the ever discreet Camilla Dale's years spent courting journalists backfired in 1987 tabloids reported that Charles was having an affair with her at the time and still today the Tryon family denied the claims saying that to the best of their knowledge Dale was a good friend of the Prince but not his mistress Lord Tryon specifically denied the claim in print well I just feel it's unnecessary that he had to sort of go to those things it was very difficult because I don't want to stand up and say don't be so ridiculous but it's very difficult to ignore you know if you've got people camping on your doorstep you know which I did have for three weeks and people climbing up trees and with telescopic lens was taking pictures through the window I mean it does get tedious much of the press speculation centered on letters Prince Charles was supposed to have written to Dale what about the letters he's written you well what Lititz come I thought there was some medicine that he's written to you over the years your friends probably write to you but would you never let your children or grandchildren read them I just didn't want to discuss the medical Dale's love of media attention and finally cost her Prince Charles's friendship his marriage officially ended and as diana was forced out of the picture so too was her a liar ending months of speculation The Prince and Princess of Wales are two separate Buckingham Palace said the decision was reached emic ibly and the couple have no plans for divorce discreet Camilla had played the long game and slowly but surely she and Charles openly became a couple what seems to have broken dales spirit is learning that Camilla was back on the scene when his relationship with Donna went wrong and I think she would have wanted to be back on the scene herself but wasn't Dale was left out in the cold and Camilla's innate understanding of the rules had got her her man and now at her lowest ebb Dale suffered a double blow first the reoccurrence of a childhood illness spina bifida that had crippled her until the age of nine I went in to do the big fashion fair and was feeling fine went to get up out of the chair and I just couldn't walk so a certain is that as she recovered and learned to walk again doctors discovered a much more serious problem and I just I was in the same consulting rooms and just got the all-clear to say I could swim play tennis ride you know and I walked out that door and into the next door to be told I had cancer I really just felt I blow I mean this is just such a bore I've just got over beat she's broke and I'm gonna have to go over it again despite her outward determination to get well mentally dare was finding it harder and harder to cope I think a divide came in her personality in the early 90s when things started to go wrong I think she could see that the magic journey which had started in Melbourne all those years ago and had veered by Royal Palaces could be coming to an end and I think at that point her personality split and that you still saw that positive bubbly vibrant kanga on occasions but you could now glimpse another person Dale Tryon dark thoughts crowding in on her at the thought that her life may not run its course following a grueling bout of treatments Dale took herself off on a spiritual retreat to the Himalayas with the actress Sarah miles she certainly changed a lot I think in the Himalayas I think she wanted to get rid of her cancer and thought that you can get rid of it by sort of spiritual means and I think that she she'd tried all the drugs and they weren't working so she thought that lugging me along would help her and also meeting as many spiritual people along the way that could help her to find this this inner inner inner peace that she was looking for you on her return Dale immediately checked herself into a rehab clinic the move was a surprise to all but her closest friends she said that she was full of these drugs from the camp so that and she felt that it was a cleansing and that she'd come out feeling completely new because she was healed and her whole new life would start when she came out of far place but events were about to take a strange and mysterious turn on the 31st of May 1996 48 year-old Dale Tryon fell from a window at the clinic and broke her back I got this this phone call a message on my answering machine the message said literally kanga has fallen out of a window and this was the most extraordinary news because I thought to myself that I was driving toward her how do you fall out of the window I've never understood how you fall out of windows where I arrived she was like she was just waved in bandages like a cocoon and it was one of the saddest sights I've ever seen her little face poking out and then she came to and she focused in on me and she said and then she sort of fell back into sleep because she said it coming out of sleep do you actually lie the moment you you come out of sleep or anyhow she obviously must have done because I went and told Lord try and what had just happened he said nonsense and of course it was nonsense so he said Sarah would you come to lunch on Thursday I said why I said I'd like you to meet some friends I said of course so I came to lunch that for that Thursday and there was 12 people around this very large table there were some lawyers there were a couple of nurses and everybody to do with cang of being in farm place and and they all categorically tell me that it was absolute nonsense and that she had jumped out the window I thank more very much for letting me know all this and I drove home thinking my what a very elegant man he is - to put my mind at rest with so many people present I thought that was very very charming to this day farm place clinic will not comment on the fall but dales own daughter refuted her mother's allegations she definitely did jump from the window I spoke to a woman who was there beneath the window who placed cushions underneath her and tried to talk her out of it and they did everything they could to stop her from from jumping but it happened I don't jump out of windows and I've got a terrible cross Rifai view of heights no I don't jump at windows she has changed a great deal and it's just very sad because I I just don't understand you know where a lot of her theories come from what the way her mind works Dale's family say that she suffered from alcoholism and recurrent depression which led her to try to take her own life the months after the fall were extremely difficult for her family as her mental state worsened Dale also faced an uphill struggle not only had she broken her back but she had also fractured her skull and for the third time in her life she set about learning to walk she Sue's say and dr. Holly you must make me walk again I said I'll do my best she's she's to insist that I said yes [Music] we started doing the treatment and very slowly saw the movements are coming back then after a few months that came a stage where she was able to sort of bend her legs and dig her heels into the bed and sort of move it a little bit but forty eight-year-old Dale did not walk again the once glamorous socialite was confined to a wheelchair when she returned home from hospital almost a year later her mental state had begun to decline for somebody who had been so happy so upbeat to suddenly face this as it were jail sentence in a wheelchair for her femininity to have been robbed to suddenly see yourself as being rather ancient and crippled whereas once upon a time you were the most beautiful thing in the room a very very bit of time for her Dale spent more and more time alone her children were either away or at boarding school and her marriage was in serious trouble to add insult to injury Prince Charles threw a lavish in very public 50th birthday party for Camilla parker-bowles tonight more than 80 guests arrived at the princes Highgrove house to celebrate mrs. Parker Bowles's 50th birthday just after 7:00 this evening the first guests the star guests Camilla parker-bowles heading for her birthday celebrations at Prince Charles's Highgrove home a party going on now at which there'll be no attempt to keep secret the loving relationship between Charles and Camilla Dale's mental fragility became more acute and she began to suffer from paranoia and delusions that's what stays with me more than anything was that moment where she took me away and she sat me down and she took a deep breath and she's just Ser I'm going to be Queen of England I couldn't respond there's nothing I could say and she knew that I knew that it was rubbish I don't know why she did it Dale's paranoia extended to her estranged husband law tryam and once again she turned to journalists at this point she started to brief various reporters in the press about various ideas she had some of which were just ridiculous they were fantasy but to other people she started to talk about her husband in rather bitter terms after returning from a fishing trip in Russia Lord Tryon told Dale that he wanted a divorce this started a chain of events that became more dramatic as the day progressed and ended with the arrival of the police I was pushing her in her wheelchair now which I was getting totally good at and she said quickly quickly we gotta go we gotta go and she was very tense and I said watch it the conference economy the car was a coming I thought she's really has got her there now but on top of that she was dining the Queen and she got hold of the Queen and she called her little bit now in this phone call I mean I would love to have snatched the phone I said hello are you the Queen like meat job well of course I couldn't do that but her whole attitude she was so deferential so indeed a different Kanger that I've ever met before on this phone call to the Queen so either she's a bloody good Huntress or she really was on to the Queen and she was telling the Queen that she wasn't mad and it could could she help her beginning to turn to go up Lane when this black Mariah huge black crown came right in front of us and I've got this copper and he came up to her I said I renew your rights lady day or turn you are being sectioned blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah and she said what she what do you mean coming section and then she turned to me and said sir would you say I was insane now I have to say that paranoia a little bit but not in saying that even at this point I wouldn't have thought that she was somebody who needed to be sectioned couldn't do anything I didn't know what to do it was quite ghastly and they manhandled into the back of this and she picks bugs to head out to say come with me said I follow me sir follow me please follow me on the 17th of June 1997 Dale was taken against her will to the police station and sectioned under the Mental Health Act for 28 days I think that was probably the lowest point in her life because up until this point she had been a much-loved public figure now she was in disgrace and in despair in a police cell [Music] in her hour of need Dale called on her driver's wife cherry Ted we had a phone call one early evening from kanga she sounded very sort of desperate and she said she was in the police station she was in a dreadful State really dreadful State as you can imagine being paralyzed from the waist down you've got no feeling and no control and she'd been there for several hours so I just put my arm under and I said look don't worry I'll clean you up and make you comfortable all she kept saying was or thank you so much and I thought how could you know she's so appreciative and I felt dreadful the woman who had once had the world at her feet and the royal family in the palm of her hand was defeated damaged and deserted but even in her darkest hour she had not given up hope of winning Prince Charles back from Camilla in 1997 Dale kanga Tryon was sectioned and detained under the Mental Health Act her former flame Prince Charles was now publicly acknowledging his relationship with Dale's bitter rival Camilla parker-bowles his office even issued a statement to say the prince was in touch with Lady Tryon once or twice a year but they were not as close as they had been it was clear to all except Dale that she was no longer in favor isolated and alone she became desperate she telephoned in the morning wanting to go and see Prince Charles because he was playing that had worth at that time but because of the agitated state she was in we felt it was a bit sort of untoward so we declined to take her and sadly I didn't see her again she pleaded with me to take her go say you'll love it you know you got horses you've got a stud you'll love it's there come on so we went to this polo match and she took me into it I don't really have these sort of VIP places well the posh people are which I find it even more nauseating but she suddenly told me to say look there's Prince Charles would you go get him I want to talk to him and I looked to where he was over there and I looked back at her and I said can go that's not my job I'm sorry had to get relationship that it was well and truly over Dale's marriage to Lord Tryon was also over and she moved out of the family home but despite needing 24-hour care Dale refused to go to hospital and and festering all around them I mean I've never seen anything like it I said kanga you can't fly with these she was a city of course I can okay I could do anything because she had that spirit you know Dale refused to go to a hospital and instead flew to India where she booked herself into the best hotel money could buy her bed sores got worse on her return to England she was rushed to hospital and then I got a call saying Kangas back and she's not well I go immediately to this hospital and there she is and and she's dying and she's been kept on a respirator thing and I don't know whether she knew it was me or not she was so far gone and when she died that night Dale Tryon died on the 15th of November 1997 from blood poisoning caused by infected bed sores she was two months away from her 50th birthday and left four children her funeral was hastily arranged four days later for a handful of friends and family the Prince of Wales did not attend I remember calling the florists which was nearest to great Danford asking if I could send some flowers to the funeral I was told the funeral was yesterday and nobody told us not even the local florist that had filled that house with flowers for years knew that kanga had been put to rest when I heard she died I was actually quite I was very shocked because it seemed I don't know it seemed a very bizarre death and then I heard from a friend I mentioned dare and the friend I heard when I was here and the friend said but don't you know that Dale's dead and I didn't know and I was totally horrified she died four months after her one-time friend and Ally Diana Princess of Wales and the contrast between their funerals could not have been greater two of the three most significant women in Prince Charles's life were now dead and the way was clear for Camilla they married on the 9th of April 2005 seven years after Dale's death the bitterest pill for Dale would be if she was still alive and she could see that Camila is now the wife of the Prince of Wales the man she once loved and Lauren now plays host to Charles and Camilla in his new home in Scotland it's as if Dale had never existed and that she's been airbrushed from
