Primary Election 2024: How are Californians voting for Prop 1?

Was only one prop on the ballot tonight and it was called prep one. Yes. And it was funding, it was about for funding for mental health resources and tackling California's homeless crisis. Brandon Ritman joins us now and these results are still early. But where are California voters landing on prop one right now? Well, right now prop one seems to be up. We're looking at about 51 to 49 split here right now, but it is literally close enough that we cannot call this right now. I want to just point out that it would be very easy to look at this map and say, ok, this is going along the urban, rural divide, you know, the coast is generally for it and the rest of the state not so much. But here's the interesting thing. If I turn on the heat map for this ballot question, you can see nowhere. Is it running away, either red or green? This is actually a pretty close to a toss up everywhere in the state and it is a fairly complex question. We've been breaking it down for you over the last several weeks trying to explain what's in it and really it doesn't come with a dedicated plan for how the money would be spent on new facilities for mental health. So, it's entirely possible. People took a look at it and just got confused. I wouldn't be surprised to see a pretty heavy under vote here. People simply skipping the proposition in most states. It's not even legal to put one on in a primary election the way we've done here in California. So low turnout, low information, we'll see if this thing passes right now. It looks like it might. Yeah.
