President Obama reflects on his 2004 DNC speech

the interesting thing about the National Convention it was a version of a speech I had given a thousand times before because it was just a collection of all the stories that I'd gathered all those years starting with those Church basements and what people heard really was just an accumulation a condensation of all that work that had been done at the Grassroots level [Music] there is not a liberal America and a conservative America there is the United States of America there is not a ble America Latino America and Asian America there's the United States of America when you look at that speech which is only 18 minutes long really all it's doing is it's saying you know what everybody's story matters here's my story but here's how it connects to everybody else's story and that's America at its best is when all those stories are Blended and and we value them all equally that's really all that all that speech was it was it was a simple Tale that started in this basement and you know some of the other churches in this neighborhood foreign
