Preparing for Endgame content in FFXIV - Extreme, Savage & Ultimate raids

hello my friends and welcome back to the channel in this video i want to take you guys through some steps that i have prepared for you to how we are going to prepare ourselves for endgame content this includes extreme trials savage raiding and ultimate raids i've specially prepared a word document for this and i'm going to be taking you through the steps that i have prepared that i think are going to come in really handy i noticed that a lot of my subscribers seem to be new players but a few you are also veterans to the game who maybe haven't tried ultimate yet and i would like to just take you through some steps that i have took in the past to help me prepare for ultimate fights as someone who's cleared all three ultimates i feel like my knowledge here could be valuable to you so with that said let's just dive right into the video so the first thing that we're going to go over is gearing how we're going to gear for the extremes the savages and the ultimate fight so let's start off with the extremes the very baseline of raiding when we get to level 89 and 90 in and walker we'll get a full set of artifact gear on our left side this gear is actually highly viable for the extreme trials but we're gonna want some accessories here some right side accessories so what we're going to do is we're going to run the level 90 dungeons and these are going to drop accessories for us which are pretty valuable for getting into the extreme trials we ideally want a full right side of these and once we're doing that we can also slowly replace some of our left side and maybe get a ring as well a moonwalk ring this is the tome gear and this is just going to get us a little bit more gear and be a little bit more ready for the extreme trials we can also opt in to get a weapon a moonwalled weapon here but honestly and what i personally don't do is i avoid doing this because i feel like if we're going to go into extremes of the mindset that we're going to clear and we're going to get ourselves some weapons from these extremes then i think we're better off just skipping that and getting the weapon from the extreme it's not a huge upgrade of course weapons are quite significant but i feel like we should just hold out and get that weapon from the extreme trout so my recommendation for gearing for extreme trials is try and replace that left side gear with our tone gear try and get our right side gear to be all the accessories from the level 90 dungeons and once we've got that all prepared and we're at a pretty good item level i think we're then ready to take on these extreme trials you don't need a full set of left side tome gear not at all the extreme trials are actually not that difficult and they do not have actually a high gear ceiling i've seen people enter this with level 88 crafted gear for some reason don't ask me how or why they had that but i've seen people enter these trials with that gear and we've still managed to clear the fights so i'm pretty sure with just the job gear you'll be fine get some of the right side accessories some level 90 dungeons and maybe fill in some of the gaps with the tone gear now that we've gone over how we're gonna gear for extreme let's go over how are we going to mentally prepare for extreme trials so first things first we want to learn our job of course right we want to learn our job before entering this content and honestly we're going to purely learn our job through doing dungeons and doing some of the level 90 dungeons as well so you know when we're leveling we're doing some of the dungeons we're getting experience and we're also learning our job as we go and get new abilities then once we hit level 90 we'll do some level 90 dungeons with our new level 90 ability and get some practice in there another really good thing to do is once we've done all that let's go to stone sky and c and let's practice our rotation and open it on a dummy here and this is really just going to gauge our dps and see if we are viable to clear the fight with our current gear and our current rotation and opener as well as doing the stone sky and c make sure if we aren't clearing it the first thing that we should be checking is is our rotation and opener correct are we doing this all right and as good as we can so if we feel like something is off let's check some resources let's do a little bit of research on the side if you are a bit confused on any of this stuff then do hit me up in the comments below and i'll do my best to help you if there's an open or rotation that you're a bit confused on then i will do my best to find the opening rotation for you and then i'll link it to you and then you can practice that so now that we've done all that i feel like we are ready to do extreme trials just remember what groups we are joining we're probably going to join a practice group if we haven't already so make sure we come in with an open mind and ready to practice the fight and progress it with a team of fellow players some party finders might be that you don't need to watch a guide but some you might want to watch your guide some might suggest that you do watch your guide so just make sure you are watching a guide if they do tell you to watch a guide just so you can go into that fight a little bit more prepared now that we've done all that we've geared for extremes we've killed some extremes we've got some gear from the extremes let's talk about how we're going to gear for savage raiding content so of course we want to make sure we have as much tone gear as possible at this point as a baseline we want our full left side to beat homegear we want the extreme weapons and we want the extreme accessories on our right side with maybe a tone ring to fill in we also then have a few alternatives to get a few better pieces so we have the normal mode raid which has some really excellent pieces to up our item level which is really gonna help and then we also have crafted gear from the market board you don't need to get this but if you have the gill and you don't mind splurging out a bit of cash then you can go to the market board you can get some of this crafted gear it's really good gear as well and it's going to help you out a bunch you can of course as well mix and match some of the normal raid gear and some of the crafted gear to fill in the pieces that you're missing or you can just make do with some tone pieces and some normal mode pieces it honestly doesn't matter as a baseline for starting savage content on top of all that make sure we are also capping our weekly tomes and looking into some best in slots now that we can get some of these weekly times we want to be looking into what our best in slot is again if you're a bit confused about what your best in slot is you don't really know hit me up in the comments and i'll do my best to reply to you and do some research do some resource digging and i should be able to provide you with some best insults if that's what you're after on top of all this remember materia is very important and when we are at least when we are gearing for savage that we want to be using at least some of the materia nines and tens because these are gonna up our secondary stats to the highest they can be and this is just really helpful it's gonna help us a bunch crit is like the most valued stat right now so you can't go wrong with melding some crit so be on the lookout for this make sure we're getting as much of this secondary stat as we can to prepare for savage content this is really going to help our damage output our healing output and our tanking capability depending on the role of course damage output across the board so now that we've got a good amount of gear ready for savage we've got some normal mode pieces maybe some crafted pieces the extreme weapon the extreme accessories we've got some good melds in our gear we're ready with our gear maybe even some of the weekly tome gear and some good melds on top of that then we're ready to go into savage with our current gear before we go into savage low let's take some things into consideration have we practiced in the extreme modes as our current job which we want to take into our savage raiding because extreme modes are such a good gateway into savage raiding they are a baseline into it with savage being the next difficulty up extremes are not far behind and they're going to really practice and teach you into your role and really just make you confident and comfortable in that role and really prepare you for a raid environment so we really want to be practicing these extremes say if we have a change of heart we change our job and we've leveled it to 90 we've got gear from it because we've played another job in the extremes but maybe consider taking this job that we have changed into and taking it into some extremes and practicing on that job in those extreme trials because that's really going to help us get comfortable and confident in that job in this sort of raiding environment because it's really just going to help us understand our kit and how to utilize it in a raid environment sorry if i'm going back on myself here but i really just want to drill that into your heads because it's very important and just like for when we're entering extremes it's really important of course to know your job like i've already said but let's make sure we're also doing a stone sky and c seeing if our rotation and opener is up to the standards that it needs to be and our gear too of course so if we're getting stone sky nc dead and we're doing it in a good amount of time left then we are probably ready to go into that savage content as long as we've ticked off all the boxes just before that then you know we've got good gear we've got a good mindset we we know how to play our job in this raiding instance then we're pretty good to go for savage content okay so we've done some extremes we've got gear from extremes and we've done some savage and we've got some gear from savage what is the next step up from there now that would be ultimate not for everyone but if you want to know a bit more about ultimate if you're interested in any way you want to try it out i do honestly recommend it i don't think anyone should be like oh no i'm not good enough for ultimate please please don't think that i feel like with enough practice and enough confidence in your job and your role you will get there in the end really i think a lot of people are scared of ultimate because it's like oh my god this is the hardest difficulty content in the game yes it is yes it really is but you can do it with enough practice from these previous rates everyone can do it okay so i really do just think really really practice and don't be afraid that you can't do it i feel like some people will say that you're not good enough to do ultimate and i just want to say don't believe those people if you put in the work you can do ultimate so enough about my little rant about that i believe in you as long as you get the practice in let's go over a few things with how we can actually gear and prepare for ultimate so gearing for ultima is where our best in slot is going to come in really handy we're going to make sure that we are best in slot before we're doing this we have the best gear available to us we've got our weekly tone pieces in our best slots we can get we've got our savage raid pieces as well in our best slots we can get so we have a mixture of those two pieces so maybe some savage raids left side and some tome left side and savage raid right side and turn right side a big bit of a mixture of the two and also that we have our savage raid weapon there is no excuse for not having a savage raid weapon when we go into ultima make sure we have this because it's the best weapon available to us no matter what right now maybe with the exception of relics down the line but those are not out currently and i doubt they're going to be as good as savage raid weapons anytime soon until much later into the expansion so this is essential along with that we want to make sure we're having the most optimal melds we have by now so really do i do research get those melds in if you're unsure about these melds about your current best and slot gear again let me know in the comments below i'll do my best to help you out now that we've gone over how we're gonna gear for ultima you know we've done savage we've done extremes we've got the best gear currently available to us with all the pieces being in the most optimal spaces and we've got the weapon then we're ready to go gear wise but of course we're not quite ready just yet we've got a few things that we need to iron out first so how are we going to prepare ourselves for ultimate raiding once we've got all our gear my first big point here and i feel like this is very important is we should be leveling other jobs in our current given role so if we're a tank i feel like we should be leveling all the tanks and really gaining a good experience and vast pool of knowledge of how the all the other tanks work this is going to help us understand our co-tank and their kit and it might also make us understand our own kit a bit better and how it synergizes with our coat tank this is gonna make us a better tank in general it's the same for healers if we're playing a healer i would honestly suggest level all the other healers really learn their kit so we can understand our co-healer and really just create that perfect synergy this goes for all roles by the way so if you're a melee dps do all the melee dps if you're arranged physical range do all the physical range if you're a magical range do all the magical range of course this is highly optional and a lot of this is highly optional but i believe that if you really want to be fully prepared for ultimate content you should be doing this if you want to take it to the next level what i suggest is leveling a pool of jobs related to the role that you are related to now how am i gonna make sense of this okay so we are a tank for example and we've leveled all the tanks we have a vast understanding of how every single tank works what is the next step to really up our game leveling healers leveling healers is gonna make us understand how our healers are exactly healing us how their kit is synergizing with us as a tank and how that kit exactly synergizes with what kind of tank we are this is really gonna help us understand our healers and our healers are going to have a better time synergising with us as well if they do the same to us if you're a healer level up all your tanks that'll really take it to the next level make you understand what your tanks are doing and it's going to also allow you to offer suggestions really viable suggestions as well not just closed-minded suggestions because you don't understand the job if you understand the job you will have really good suggestions for your tanks and if you're a good group of friends or whatever and you're all open-minded then you can you'll be bouncing suggestions off and on each other and it's really going to help you out as a group as a whole now this isn't just exclusive to tanks this is for every single role so let me think about another example and say if we are a tank as well we've done healers what's the next step again leveling our melee dps very important as well if we understand how our melee dps function then this is going to help with us with positioning but this is going to also help us with how we position a boss minimize movement minimize boss spinning all that kind of stuff it's going to make us understand the pain of being a melee player with not so optimal tanks and it's going to make us a better tank in general this can also be the same for physical range and magical range as a physical range player you have so much mobility if you play as a magical range maybe you don't understand why a magical range is struggling with a mechanic that they have to move for playing them and then understanding the cast times and stuff like that it's going to give you a better understanding of how your physical range player is playing and it's going to be able to make you emphasize with them a bit better and maybe even offer suggestions now of course this is a next level up and you don't need to do it but this is going to just prepare you a hell of a lot more for ultimate and if you really want to be as prepared as possible then i really do suggest that you take these steps and really level up your experience and how you are going to synergize with your raid group okay so this is quite a long section i didn't realize how long it is but i'm going to keep going so our next thing we can do if we want to really prepare for ultimates really keep the rust off us as a player is maybe as a group as a raid group we've done the savages we've done extreme trials and all that stuff together ultimates a few weeks away how are we gonna really prepare for that a good way to really prepare for doing ultimates is doing speed kills now it's not for everyone some people don't enjoy speed kills some people think it's a very egotistical thing to do speed kills i will disagree i feel like speed kills are really good for really learning your job and really pushing the boundaries of your job and just seeing exactly what your job is capable at when you're playing at the highest level and trying to kill something as quickly as possible it's really going to push you as a player to do your best as i've said it isn't for everyone you might not have the time for it you might want to chill out before awesome it comes out and that's perfectly fine too but that doesn't change the fact that doing speed kills and really pushing your job and learning your job to the highest level it's it's gonna teach you to be a better player and that's just a fact and that's how it is again it is optional just like all of this stuff really but it is my advice from me to you it's really good it's really going to help you prepare for it so if you want to be as prepared as possible for ultimate then i do advise this my last and final point is quite a obvious one but i do just feel like it is an order to say is just make sure we're practicing a lot make sure we're practicing practicing and practicing familiarize yourself with certain mechanics if we know what ultimate fight is gonna come out next some people might not wanna know what the ultimate fight is i personally know what it is but just to avoid spoilers for some people that don't want to know say if an ultimate fight is a fight that we have done in the past which ultimate fights historically are they have mechanics ripped from these old fights into these new fights in such a new way but a really good way we can prepare for these ultimate fights is by going back and doing these fights that we know are going to be included in the ultimate fight and familiarizing ourselves with the mechanics involved a really good way to do this is go back do those fights and do it min item level and min level so minimum level mid item level and this is really going to help us learn this fight as a group really familiarize ourselves with the mechanics involved in this fight this is just another really good way to prepare yourself for what is to come in this ultimate fight and it's going to make you more familiar with the mechanics that will be coming so just doing this is another form of preparing ourselves for ultima and being really ready to go and try that content out anyway i think that is everything i've put a lot of passion into this video realizing it now this is a very passionate subject for me i love ultimate raiding and i really cannot wait for the next ultimate raid to come out i really look forward to it it's probably the most enjoyment i get out of ff14 so i'm really excited for it and hopefully you can tell that in the video and hopefully my excitement can go on to you guys and you can also get excited for it maybe it's your first ultimate that you're going to be preparing for and i want you to know that you can prepare for it now starting now as a level 90 maybe you haven't done savages haven't done extremes whatever you can start preparing for ultima now just do these steps go into extremes go into savage raining practice practice practice make sure you're having time make sure you're joining a group that accommodates for your time that you can put into the game and i believe with enough practice that you can do it and you'll be able to clear it too i don't think this content should be gatekeeped in any way and i want everyone who is interested dude play and do ultimate content go for it i think you can really do it and i believe in you so just make sure you push yourself learn your job do all that good stuff and you'll be ready for it and you'll be good to go honestly so if you are interested in ultimate rating guys please don't think you're not good enough to do it just practice in time you'll be good enough to do it and you can start getting ready for
